Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Had midwife appointment - seems I've got a window now of about 3 weeks (preferrably 2 to avoid a sweep!) to avoid the consultant getting twitchy about a elective cs... really hope something starts to happen soon. After all that cramping, I'm getting almost nothing now, although I have been shattered today and joined all you others who had a nap today!!

Any suggestions of how to encourage things?( I had decided that probably nothing works, b ut now want to try everything!!)

ILGH glad it's not cp!!

Going to bed now- hope something starts happening overnight!!!

Hermya321 · 29/09/2010 22:29

Moonstorm I know it's been said before but hot baths, reflexology, long walks that sort of thing. Other than that I don't know I'm afraid.

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 00:36

Nipple tweaking ? Seriously, have heard about MW doing it to start contractions.

floozietoozie · 30/09/2010 01:10

Sleep is for wimps! At least, sleep is not for mothers of neonatal unit babies. Going to catch less than 2 hours befire next round.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 30/09/2010 06:19

Oh floozie, hope you got some sleep!
Ds decided 4.30 am was a reasonable time to ask to watch "beebies"
How do people cope with 2+dcs?!!!!

nymphadora · 30/09/2010 07:51

ILGH that's good news anyway

floozie hope you got some sleep

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 08:19

flooze if I'd know you were awake we could have "chatted". I was awake til gone 2am with insomnia and my mind racing and worrying about stuff.

RooBear · 30/09/2010 09:07

well it was just me being a moaning minnie yesterday as I have no aches or pains today. glad your appt went well ilgh

nymphadora · 30/09/2010 09:31

Will be thinking of you.

Are you all set?

Vikks · 30/09/2010 10:25

Morning All.

Nymph I think it was Sophie yesterday. I guess we'll find out soon.....

Midwives for me this morning, I want some good news like 'yes your baby's engaged now'. Smile

tiredfeet · 30/09/2010 10:45

morning all, vikks I hope you get good news from the midwife

not long to go now then nymph !

I still reckon I'm in for the long haul and baby's not going to arrive until its well overdue, so I've been busy trying to fill my diary so that I don't get too fed up. I'm hoping my friends will be understanding if I have to cancel! It feels like a strange time though, DH and I are so excited to meet the baby and become parents, but at the same time I feel a real need to make the most of our last days together as a couple.

hoping for more baby news soon please!! I'm loving hearing about everyones babies Smile. Hope everything is going well for those of you who have your new arrivals to look after, and especially floozie, I hope little zazie can be with you all the time soon

nymphadora · 30/09/2010 12:06

silver got my pre-op appt on Tues so have a list of questions about the ward rather than the OP.The Cons went through the Op on Tues but most things i need to ask the ward. Dh is quite excited as they said I will go to recovery after and he will look after the baby on Maternity so he feels like he has a big part to play now!

Hermya321 · 30/09/2010 12:20

Nymph Thats really cool about the fact that your DH can look after the baby in maternity.

Vikks I hope it's good news.

TF I hope that your baby surprises you.

I had a really bad night last night, ended up sleeping not a jot. I would turn over, get settled and my ribs would start up and then would turn over onto the other side and it would happen again. Can't wait until this is over and done with.

I'm now sat indoors waiting for the handyman to show up to come and look at the shower. He was supposed to be here this morning but he hasn't been yet. I hate it when people do things like this.

I hope everyone else is well!!

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 13:14

hermya I stuck at home waiting for a delivery 8am -7pm!!! The dog wants walking and I cant til delivery man been as HI is out working and if I nip out, the man will arrive. Guaranteed.

Like you I had a rubbish night. Wide awake and then my left hip went dead and I couldnt get sorted. Think I dropped into a coma gone 2am. Spent the time playing games on my phone and listening to HI snore happily.

I suppose I should get used to the cabin fever now.

Can I ask a question, should you be worried if your baby moves too much? Last night s/he was kicking off big time, I didnt know if s/he was panicking or just getting frustrated at the lack of room. There is so much info telling you to be concerned if not enough movement, eg 10moves every 30mins, which is ridiculous I know!

Even sitting up straight with my legs out in front is not easy. I think its cos the bump is getting bigger and poss dropping? Who knows.

Hermya321 · 30/09/2010 13:25

Silver I don't know about panicky movements, my LO seems to have days where he's super super busy and others where he's a bit more chilled. If you are worried maybe contact your midwife. 10 moves every 30 minutes, my midwife told me it was 10 moves every twelve hours.

DillyDora · 30/09/2010 13:34

Silver I had the exact same thing yesterday, a sort of spasmy movement that unnerved me, I told myself I was just being silly and that babies do kick like that (you know when they kick both legs out at once? too cute) but I know what you mean. I think they do say to contact yr mw if you really notice your baby freak out (no idea where i read this, sorry). Sorry, petal, I don't really know and he has been ok since, he just hates it when I sit up straight cos it cramps his stlye but tough - I'm at this desk for another week! Maybe call mw or labour ward just for the reassurance?

Vikks · 30/09/2010 13:37

Just got back from the midwives and Harry is healthy and happy. Good heartbeat and lots of movement. She wrote on my notes 4/5 engaged, that?s not a lot is it? I don?t know what I was expecting?. ?Your baby will be here any day? would have been nice. I?m still measuring a week ahead, so 39 weeks now. I asked her if she thought that would mean I would be a week early but she still said as it?s my first I?ll probably go over. I hope she?s wrong!
Harry?s doing well but I?m suffering with my breathing. I?ve got to go back to the Doc?s tonight to get my heart checked out. The midwife feels sure it?s just the baby pressing but wants a second opinion. I?m getting out of breath a lot, and fainted the other day. I?ve had more bloods done too to check that my iron tablets are working. Oh well I guess we?ll soon know.

Silver My MW was very happy that LO was moving a lot, it?s a good sign and nothing to worry about. He is VERY active and not slowed down at all.

Nymph That?s really nice your DH is excited about his special Daddy duties while you?re recovering.

Tired I think I need to fill up my diary too to stop me going crazy!

Hermya I hope you?re still not waiting for that handyman.

38+1!

Hey guys!

Can't believe it is finally October tomorrow. I went and bought my raspberry leaf tea today, I swear it tastes better than it did last time!

Congrats to those of you that have had their babies already - Zazie is a beautiful name flooz and I too would pronounce it how you are. I bet she is beautiful!

I'm last on the list (only Halloween baby!) so I doubt there will be any news from me too soon

35+4

Xavielli · 30/09/2010 14:07

3/5 is more engaged than 4/5 - the first number is the amount they can feel, ie 5/5 = Free, 0/5 = Fully engaged.

DillyDora · 30/09/2010 14:23

Xav Hi! We haven't heard from you for ages have we? (Or am I even more doolally than I thought!). How are you!! How's everything?!

I cheated and got raspberry leaf capsules - pricey tho....
