Here!

tiredfeet · 26/09/2010 15:08

wow another new thread! and massive congratulations to meanbeansmum! enjoy your first days with Sophia Rose Smile

hope all is well with everyone else, I've been a bit busy (not sure quite what I've being doing though Confused ) and struggling to keep up!

sounds like things are starting to happen for you jennimoo so sending lots of best wishes your way

Tyson86 · 26/09/2010 15:26

Hellooooo

Wondering how Jennimoo is x

jessebelle · 26/09/2010 15:33

Wow - huge congrats meanbeansmum - you sound so happy! Really great to hear everything coming together so well (& gorgeous name too!).

It's really encouraging as well as I've been feeling a bit nervous & apprehensive lately - about the birth and also about coping with newborn as well as a 4.5 year old - but not only was your birth story lovely but you've got 4 kids and you're still calm and collected! Woooh! [thinks to herself, I will survive - gulp!]

And best of luck Jennimoo, hope the reason we've not heard from you is simply that you're very, very 'busy' at home in your pool right now! :-)

Abfab - I didn't feel any BH really first time around and they're not painful this time around, but occasionally i just feel like my belly goes hard. Weird though, I was at the midwife and she said she felt the belly go hard while I couldn't feel a thing. She had to wait until the BH had gone to feel the baby, but I had no sensation of anything happening at all where I was lying down - so it really IS possible to have them and not know, promise!

Vikks · 26/09/2010 15:41

Hi All! Apologises for the lack of posts?.I?m crap I know. In my defence, I?ve read every word you?ve written!
But wow, what a time to duck back in, Go Jennimoo Go! I think we?re all with you in spirit. Smile

Meanbeans Congratulations to you and your family! I?m loving your name and I think we are all longing to be where you are right now. ?Newborn snuggles? how cute! I just can?t wait?..

Loobyboo Good luck for tomorrow! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.

Sophie Good luck Wednesday, C-Day! It must be strange to know when you are going to meet your LO. I?m so excited for you.

KSal Hope you are well. I was thinking your baby was going to be the first of the thread, I hope you?re still not in hospital. Let us know when you can. X

ILGH Nice thread title. I hope I give birth during this one?..

Abfab Did you finish your hypnobirthing book? I?ve got through mine and I?m now trying to make an effort with the CDs. My MW looked at me a bit crazy when I put on my birth plan that I didn?t want to ?push? the baby out, have you had that? And when I started talking about ?surges? she asked if I?d been doing hypnobirthing. It must be a dead give away! She said that first babies often did need to be pushed out and that she attended a birth where the mum was trying to ?breathe? the baby out and after two hours she suggested a push and the baby was born minutes later. So I?m all confused about it now! I really want to believe but I still have that doubt in the back of my mind and that scares me because I must still have ?the fear?. Hmm

Big Hello! to everyone else.

Things have been mostly smooth here. My DH has got two job interviews next week so we?ve got everything crossed. It would be lovely to get that sorted before Harry arrives. We also finished all the decorating and have all his things set out. I can?t stop playing with them.

On the flip side (as with most of you); night times can be a struggle, the acid indigestion is soooo bad, my ribs feel bruised, I fainted the other day, I can?t breath sometimes, and I want this baby out!! I?m getting loads of BH (not painful at all) and when I walk I sometimes get shooting pains from my cervix. But other than that no sign that things could be starting. I keep telling Harry that his ?time is up? but he?s not listening yet!

I think I might go and clean something?..oooh that?s a sign! Wink

Oooh, hello all. Marking my place :)

FingonTheValiant · 26/09/2010 16:14

Just read the end of the last thread.

Jenniemoo good luck today, sounds like we might have another thread baby very soon! Lots of positive wishes for you :)

AbFabT I hadn't felt any BHs until this past week, and once I felt one I realised I'd been having them for a couple of weeks - I'd noticed my belly tightening, but as I hadn't felt anything else I assumed it was nothing.

Vikks maybe the mum started trying to breathe the baby out too early. I've been doing hypnobirthing classes (wish I'd done them sooner and not right at the end!) and they definitely say that no pushing is necessary. Also, around here the midwives are trying to stop people pushing even if they aren't hypnobirthing, so I'm sure there is definitely something to the whole breathing-it-out thing.

I'm rubbish about practising my relaxation though. I really have to get on that. I just had a massive surge, and I dread the thought of it all kicking off and thinking it would have gone better if I'd practised more.

Also, I've been getting loads of pain in my SP joint, does that mean the baby has dropped lower?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/09/2010 16:29

Ah, the old breathing it out thing. I've never done forced pushing but what actually seems to happen is that you go "inside" your self iyswim through the focused breathing and listen to the surges you have and you work with those. These are massive urges to bear down which you just go with - it is "pushing" I suppose but it's not forced, it's just working with what's already there. A bit like when you have a poo (sorry tmi)but a bit more severe (unless you have a pile or two Wink).

Fingon, sounds like you're nearly there.

Have fun cleaning Vikks.

Less than an hour old getting dressed in the delivery room. Oh and girls there's hope for you all lol, looked in my delivery notes and her labour wasn't 1hr 34 mins that was the time from waters going to placenta delivery. Her labour from 3cm to birth was 59mins 1hour 8 miuns if you include the placenta popping.

It still hurt though lol!!!!!

More october babies please lol!!!!!! Good luck girls, surely we all have to go popcorn now!

Off to do the 4th meconium poo nappy in 30 mins lol!!!!!!! LOVELY!!!!!

AbFabT · 26/09/2010 17:41

Cheers for the new thread, ILGH.

Ah thanks for that, Tyson, SeaShells, Hermya, nymh, jessebelle and FtV!!! :) I just think if I felt them, I'd feel something was progressing! I don't think I've had any stomach tightenings, nothing! Baby just had hiccups and wriggled a bit, so I'm happy with that!

Vikks, welcome back! :) And yes, I have now finished the book. I only got one CD with it - which book/CD package did you go for? Mine is the Mongan Method one. I am going to re-read the sections on breathing, relaxation, visualisation and deepening, and practise as much as possible. I still feel remarkably calm about everything, but not sure that is confidence so much as not quite feeling real about what will happen soon! Like, it's still surreal and my head is in the clouds! I am definitely going to aim for breathing this baby out as opposed to pushing - the pushing sounds like a real strain, but you just have to see how it goes on the day, I guess.
I told the mw I was reading the hypnobirthing book, she nodded along, she is so laid back, I think just supportive of anything I want (within reason, of course!!!). Of course, I may well end up with another midwife on the day, but I think generally the team I am with are supportive of their pregnant lady's choices, I sound pretty clued-up and well-read when I speak with them, and they seem happy with me.

ILGH, the book I read does indeed liken the breathing out to going to the toilet, so you are spot on there! :) Even says to practise on the toilet, as subconsciously you are already in the position and environment you are used to going in, and it helps open you up!

FtV, I would have liked to have done the classes too, but they were £££, and I thought I'd just try the books. Hope that wasn't a mistake. There's an alternative therapies studio down the road from here, and I note they have a hypnotherapist there - perhaps if I am desperate when the time comes, I'll call them up and someone will come talk me through it! Though I have also been doing the two AnteNatal Yoga classes a week, and they deal with breathing there, so hopefully I'll be ok.

My other plan is to get my favourite disco CDs ready - they get me in SUCH an amazing happy mood, I might dance this baby out! :)
And DH is so vibrant and fun, he can make me laugh through anything, so fingers crossed, I've got all bases covered, whether I'll feel like calm, Yoga, disco or laughter on the day, or maybe combinations! :)

AbFabT · 26/09/2010 17:43

x-posted with the new mum! Aaaah, she looks delightful! Just so lovely! I want one! :)

Hermya321 · 26/09/2010 17:56

Meansbeans Oh my gosh, she is adorable. I so want my LO here now.

SilverSky · 26/09/2010 18:10

MeanBeans Congratulations!!! Awwwww - super cute. Fab news.

JenniMoo thinking of you!

We went on a hospital tour today. Was very interesting and saw the labour ward and birthing suite. I am opting for the birthing suite, well as long as I stay low risk that is.

Now I am on ML - I will be able to post more and not just be a lurkerzoid!

floozietoozie · 26/09/2010 18:30

ILGH you couldn't have chosen a more apt thread title, and Fingon and Maenbeans, your wishes are answered because I've leapfrogged Jennimoo and all of you and had my baby girl delivered this morning...

It's a bit of an epic - on Saturday me and dp went to a parentcraft class at one hospital. Dp went home at lunchtime and I went back. I'd had a bit of discomfort when pooing in the morning and when I went on the afternoon it was worse. I camd out of the loo and had to kneel down leaning on a chair in the corridor. Pain in my lower bump where the intestines are was pretty unbearable - I knew it wasn't contractions. Had to get the midwife who was running the group out to help me, was sick a few times and on the floor unable to speak. She got some others down from the mlu there and they called an ambulance to blue-light me across town to the consultant-led unit. Was in delivery room in case but there was no sign of labour and baby was fine on monitor, no distress. They took blood and ruled out various things - I couldn't pee because of the immense pressure on my bladder and bowel, so in the end I needed a catheter - no infection there. Doc said it could be the cyst leaking a bit and to bry honest that's what I thought it was as I had a similar episode when it was first discovered I had endo cysts five and a half years ago. Despite pain relief the discomfort meant I couldn't really sleep, couldn't move because of pain unless it was absolutely essential. Baby was fine but then at 5am the mw put the trace back on and said the heartbeat was dipping. Doc came examined mecand said I was three cms dilated so I had started in labour but they weren't happy with baby and because my stomach was rock hard because of the pressure I couldn't feel any movements. They said it was off for an emergency CS so had to ring dp and try to get him in before the baby was delivered - he just made it!

When they operated they found the cyst had burst and I had fluid all round my abdomen, hence the pain. The baby was straight on the rescusitaire as she was a bit white and quiet and floppy but that's normal for sudden early cs deliveries apparently. She did start making noises. They brought her to me for a quick hold then, history repeating itself, she was whisked off to special care and she's in an incubator now. Because you can't walk/move after having a spinal for about six hours I didn't see her until after two and that was being taken in a wheelchair. She weighs 2.68kg or 5lb14oz but she still doesn't look much bigger than ds was at 31wks and 4lb2! Guess he was longer - she is much more baby like and the right colour and covering!

Anyway, we're calling her Zazie. It's a French name but we're pronouncing it our own way, ZAY-zee. I'm currently on the ward about to do my second lot andyand expressing of colostrum.... This was something else I was hoping to avoid. There we go.

Sorry for epic post but thought you'd like the whole story!

35+2 and the end!

Tyson86 · 26/09/2010 18:36
