Whose up for a belated Friday five?

What is the one piece of make up that you go back to time and time again?

What is your favourite meal at the moment?

What recipee have you seen lately that you're determined to try out?

You're in your favourite coffee shop, what are you ordering?

What was your favourite sweet as a kid?

I know these aren't very babyish, but I figured some of us could use a bit of a distraction.

My friends just been up and taken me out for a hot chocolate, it was so nice seeing her and I feel quite cheered up now. I'm now pampering my inner geek and watching the Star Trek Movie day on Film 4 Blush Grin.

Ivytheterrible · 17/10/2010 17:07

congrats lilmiss on your baby girl.

samb and vikks am totally with you in feeling down. Feel like I'm standing on the edge of the black pit of despair and slowing falling in. Have closed door to the nursery for the moment as it is just making me miserable walking past it all the time.

Had a walk out to the library on Friday afternoon and have 6 books to read as I'm so bored of the TV. Have got through 1.5 books already - if I get through them all before baby puts in an appearance it would be ridiculous (yet possible as I'm a fast reader!)

Also spent Sat afternoon baking a choc fudge cake which killed a few hours - there isn't much left of it now!

Symptoms seem to be going backwards was getting contractions all day Thurs and Fri last week but had not a lot since then and so show/leakages etc. Not due a sweep until Weds but I think I'll ring midwife tomorrow and see if I can have it any earlier...

40+4!

nymphadora · 17/10/2010 18:30

hermya snap on star trek! Waiting for dh to go out though so I can have angel instead!

ivy Envy at the reading, I've not read properly for months and I used to read like that , even struggling to MN for long atm

moonstorm · 17/10/2010 18:41

What is the one piece of make up that you go back to time and time again? Blusher (I'm so pale!)

What is your favourite meal at the moment? Tacos with beef

What recipee have you seen lately that you're determined to try out? Lasagne Blush that I've never made it

You're in your favourite coffee shop, what are you ordering? Hot chocolate!!

What was your favourite sweet as a kid? Sherbet Dip

Film4 here I come!!! I thought it was yesterday and I'd missed it!!!

'contractions came as close as 7 minutes, but a hot shower stopped them Angry. Now have a hot water bottle on my back and it feels really nice - am able to relax for the first time today. Thank you everyone for all of your tho0ughts and advice it has really helped. Here's for tonight! x

rollerbaby · 17/10/2010 18:50

Good luck moon!!! You sound alot more relaxed. Fingers crossed everything goes a bit more quickly now. xx

I'm feeling a few feint twinges at the front of my pubic bone and under my bump...nothing at all painful just twingey. Back is achey at the bottom as well... lots of pressure. Ummm I wonder...

SamanthaB123 · 17/10/2010 19:00

Moon You sound in good shape at the moment, fx it won't be very much longer.

Honeymoo You sound promising too!

I have symptoms but I don't know if they are particularly promising ones. I have an upset tummy and everything that I eat goes straight through me. I've had excruciating pain prior to going to the loo too so am not going to eat much else today. I've had quite enough of that! Generally I'm really achy, periody type pains with some contractions dotted about. I'm only comfortable lying down which hasn't done a lot for gravity helping me on my way.

Ivy Sorry you are feeling down too. I can't seem to concetrate on anything but am going to force myself to get into a book tomorrow to attempt to keep myself sane. I have had a lot of 'false start's' with regular contractions that have come to nothing. It's so frustrating. Until today it had been a while since I'd had any sensation that might suggest labour.

Good luck everyone, hopefully we'll have a glut of babies overnight Grin!

Hermya321 · 17/10/2010 19:14

You never know, we may all wake up tomorrow and the baby count will have doubled overnight.

Moon I'm doing the hot water bottle thing, it is nice isn't it.

sam12 · 17/10/2010 19:48

Congrats lilmiss it sounds like it was stressful but pleased that Isabella is safe and home- congratulations

moon let's hope tonight is the night. Good luck x

hermya were you hungry when you wrote the Friday 5? It made ne hungry just thinking if the answers Grin

floozie it is never ending feeding isn't it. I am struggling to manage the feeds and the expressing but one of the benefits of having to express is that dh can help out lots.

Nephews christening went well and dd slept all way through church.

sam12 · 17/10/2010 19:51

Stupid phone posted that before i finished

We left the after party early because I felt too tired and just weak!

Hope everyone else waiting starts to get some action soon

sam12 · 17/10/2010 19:52

---------

EDD tomorrow. Sposed to call the MWs so they can come and do a VE and offer me a sweep but I am not so keen. HI is. Obviously. I'd prefer to wait as I think they have my EDD three days too early. I will see how I feel in the morning and go from there.

Good luck and wishing you all easy labours!

I will keep my eyes peeled for baby news in t'morning!

SilverSky · 17/10/2010 20:00

Oh and is anyone else who is due shortly experiencing lots of hounding enquiries regarding baby news? If so, how does it make you feel? I am getting a bit peed off with it, sounds awful as people are only interested but I've not even hit me EDD yet.

moonstorm · 17/10/2010 20:17

Ooh I forgot how much I love Black Jacks (and Fruit Salads!)

I embarrassed dh once, as I announced to him in a shop in Norway how much I loved Black Jacks 0 apparrantely (sp?) they are a brand of condom in Norway...

ps forgot to say earlier 40+3

Hermya321 · 17/10/2010 20:24

Silver Yeah it's started with me as well, not as much as I thought it would but I was rather reluntant forgetful to respond when people messaged me and asked me when LO was due.

38+6

rollerbaby · 17/10/2010 20:34

Ooh don't get too annoyed, I think it's lovely that everyone's excited. They won't ask in a couple of months when the novelty's worn off and you're worn out! :)

nymphadora · 17/10/2010 20:49

Todays tips

we are changing dd3 on bathroom worktop at the moment and she is loving laying next to the mirror

tena lady Blush make a good substitute for maternity pads when you run out on a Sat night and only have a small tesco! I sent dh with orders for the largest ones and he got those as there was no 'heavy' sanitary ones.

blocked ducts - rub when feeding and under a warm shower. I had one this am and seems to have gone now.

SilverSky · 17/10/2010 20:53

moopoo I am trying! Honest!

BionicEar · 17/10/2010 20:57

Hello!

Just a quick check in as too tired to post much.

Litmiss - congrats on safe arrival of Isabella - even though it soudns labour was a bit hairraising.

Am getting lots of back and tummy pains, bump seems to have grown over last 24hrs and I think dropped a little?! So who knows maybe this baby will come before due date but I'm not holding my breath as DD was 11 days overdue! Grin

Right off to forage for food as hungry now!

AbFabT · 17/10/2010 22:46

Congratulations, lilmiss. Glad your Isabella is here safe and sound.

SilverSky, I went to 40+5 and also felt my dates were wrong, so I was happy to let nature take its course and not have the sweep, and sure enough, things happened when they were meant to. I think if you can hang on, and there are no complications, you should. I am glad I didn't force the issue, I think doing so can just make things more arduous.

All is well here. DS is feeding well, sleeping well, and I am getting more rest than I expected, mostly we just chill out on my nursing chair, cuddling. It's lush. He smells utterly divine - smells of cookie dough, don't know why!

What is the one piece of make up that you go back to time and time again?
Glitter!

What is your favourite meal at the moment?
Curry. Or pizza.

What recipe have you seen lately that you're determined to try out?
I don't tend to look at recipes. I just cook with whatever is in, making it up as I go along.

You're in your favourite coffee shop, what are you ordering?
I can't stand coffee, and avoid coffee shops if possible - the smell makes me want to heave. But in an effort to answer the question, it'd have to be hot chocolate. Though currently I am quaffing nursing teas!

What was your favourite sweet as a kid?
Wham Bars. Or Refresher Bars.

floozietoozie · 17/10/2010 23:04

I frgot to say congratulations to lilmiss earlier, sorry. Sounds like an epic, well done for hanging in there. Sorry she needed Scbu but glad you are both home together.

Friday five

  1. Don't wear makeup much but probably eyeshadow is my main thing.
  1. Fav meal - anyhing I can get as I'm sonhungry from bfing!
  1. Recipe -.dp is tge cook particularly atm but there is a recipe in a children's book of ds's for a cake that I'd like to make in the distant future. Should say the last time I made a cake I was 10...
  2. I'd br ordering hotvchocolate and lemon drizzle cake. Mmm
  3. Fav sweets - probably those candy necklaces though I also liked sherbet dips and lemon sherbets!
floozietoozie · 18/10/2010 05:20

Abfab what nursing teas are you drinking? How's your back now btw? Newborn baby smell = divine.

Anyone else up? I'm wondering what has happened to Elsa as she has been absent for two weeks now. Surely they would have Internet connection sorted by now?

nymphadora · 18/10/2010 07:49

Woke up this am with dd3 curled up on my chest. 4 am feed wa s a long oneBlush

SamanthaB123 · 18/10/2010 09:25

No baby news here. I still have diarrhea and can't keep anything down for very long. So now feeling really weak and exhausted. I spoke to the midwife earlier and she thinks it's probably early labour. Apparantly third babies are notoriously tricky to get going. Alternatly I may have picked up a bug from somewhere. If this is labour I need some energy from somewhere! Also feel really sicky and have backache. Going to try to sleep now and hope that I feel better later.

Any news from anywhere else?

Hermya321 · 18/10/2010 10:34

SamB Sorry you're feeling so rough.

Nope no real news from these parts, just feeling crampy and tired again. I just want to sleep at the moment, these cramps are lasting a little longer than they have other mornings. More often than not they've cleared by the time I've had a shower. BUT I'm not going to read anything into it, instead I'm going to go out and buy some cake. If this goes anywhere, I'll need the energy. If it doesn't, I'll need consolling. Grin
