evening all i'm so fed up to sam so you are not alone there. I've been playing diana ross's 'i'm coming out' to flump to spur them on-any other suggestions?! Grin

SilverSky · 16/10/2010 21:38

I have been ball bouncing which is also quite calming and relaxing!

floozietoozie · 16/10/2010 22:01

Sam12 good luck with the christening. Bfing is VERY time consuming here -it's basically all I'm doing. And I'm still paranoid she's not getting enough and will have lost weight on Monday. Not getting much poo so bit worried.

Nymph the hospital physio came round to see me in hosp and left a leaflet and had a talk about exercise etc but tbh I'm too sore to think about exercise. I suck my tummy in fr time to time but that's about it. How long would it take to know if there will be ongoing separation issues?

Should we start to think of a new thread name????

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep and that all the babies feed well x

floozietoozie · 17/10/2010 01:16

What about 10/10 babies - come out, come out, wherever you are ? Seems appropriate from the sentiments most are expressing!

nymphadora · 17/10/2010 06:42

floozie no idea, just remember after dd2 being told not to do certain exercises til they went back together but they never did. I got told I'd see hospital Physio but ward staff said she doesn't go round any more cos she is too busy. Have to wait for my own

lilmissmummy · 17/10/2010 07:50

Morning all, sorry long time no speak.

Isabella June was born on the 13th at 5.40am, she weighed 7lb 5oz.

I went in to be induced on Monday 11th and they put a tab type thing in for 24 hours, on Tuesday morning they checked and I was 2-3cm dilated and they would take me to the delivery suite to have my waters broken. I then waited 10 hours with mild contractions until a room became available. I then had another check and I was 4cm dilated so they broke my waters at 8pm and my contractions started to get worse at 11pm they put my on a drip (can't remember the name) to strengthen my contractions and then it started to go wrong.

lilmissmummy · 17/10/2010 08:01

Sorry on iPhone so can only do one page at a time!

The contractions got closer together and I had a really strong urge to push but when examined baby had her forehead pushed against my pelvis. So had an epidural, baby still not coming down the birthing canal and baby was getting distressed and heart rate was falling so along comes a doctor who using a ventouse managed to get her down the birthing canal and out safely Turns out that she had the cord round her neck twice and under her leg so she was well tied in. I am just so grateful that she made it as it was very worrying at a point.

She did have a problem with her blood sugars though and was admitted to scbu for a couple of days but she has made a full recovery and iwas allowed home yesterday, so we were both discharged together.

Hope I haven't frightened anyone!!

Grin

She is beautiful, I will post pictures later!

Hope everyone else is doing well! I will catch up on the posts I missed being stuck in hospital with no Internet, radio, phone or tv!!!!! Actually surprised I haven't gone mad! Lol

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 17/10/2010 08:38

Lilmiss congratulations! So pleased to hear you are home, what a relief to be out of the hospital :)

nymphadora · 17/10/2010 08:55

Congrats lilmiss glad everything was ok in the end. Isabella is a lovely name.

Xavielli · 17/10/2010 09:27

Hermya321 · 17/10/2010 09:51

Congratulations lilmiss!!!!

moonstorm · 17/10/2010 10:02

Floozie love that name!

Congratulations Lilmiss - looking forward to the pictures.

Can I have a pathetic moan/ whinge - I'm having my first labour VBAC wobble and need encouragement (don't read on if you are also wobbling)

(Sorry that so many of my posts are about me at the moment)

I'm feeling exhausted this morning. I was awake most of Friday night (as you know with contractions and bleeding) and last night I was awake from 2.30 with more contractions - all irregular, but so painful. They seem to be 10 minutes apart for the most, then suddenly there is a long break. Everything I've read implies it's just pre-labour and it could potentially go on for days. I managed to sleep this morning for a little, but awoke with a jolt at 7am and realised that I have been woken by a really painful contraction (I have also been dreaming about contracting).

And this is where the wobble starts - I had psyched myself up for labour to be painful, but had consoled myself that when it's over, it's over - I would have a baby. It didn't occur to me I could be in so much pain for days with nothing happening. And I didin't think about the possibility of gradually being warn down with tiredness through lack of sleep before labour started (although I was prepared for labour to go through the night and lose sleep this way). The contractions have been strong enough that I've had to focus and breath/ moan through them/ lean on the edge of a cupboard and rock etc. but at the point I think it's the real thing, they stop. And the books say real labour the contractions get WORSE and more intense/ often. How am I going to be able to cope???? What if I have several more nights like this??

Sorry for the needy moan Blush. I wish I had a magic ball!

SamanthaB123 · 17/10/2010 10:03

Hello! Congratulations Lilmiss!

Woke up with some contractions and back ache this morning and have diarrhea too. Contractions have stopped and have been replaced with constant pain in back and tummy. Ouch. Don't know what to do with myself. Am not excited in anyway, I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed when nothing else happens.

Thanks for all the messages yesterday, although I don't want anyone else to feel like I did yesterday it's really reassuring to know that I'm not alone.

Hope you all have good Sunday's.

SamanthaB123 · 17/10/2010 10:20

Cross posted with you moonstorm. What is happening to you is one of the reasons that I'm not getting excited. The fact that you are experiencing this shows that your baby's birth is going to be soon, which is really positive. To get through this early stage you could take paracetamol which is known to be safe and which a midwife would probably recommend. You could have a bath which will help relax you - it may be that the contractions are stopping because you are really tensing up when they happen. Try to let go in the moment and when you breathe out imagine your cervix gradually opening. This will help you feel that each contractions has a purpose and will help you 'open up' and relax. I know that it's easier said than done and I really sympathise with you. If there is a gap in contractions, rest when you can. It doesn't matter if you don't sleep, just being restful will help you feel more rested and will help you relax. If you are really tired when the contractions speed up there are always options when you get to hospital. With my first labour I found getting to 3cm excrutiatingly painful and had an epidural as soon as I could. I still had a vaginal delivery with no other intervention and I caught up on some sleep. They weaned me off the anasthetic as I approached 10cm and I had all the sensations that I needed to push. It wasn't a natural birth but I did do it myself. Anyway, I'm rambling, I hope this is all useful.

SilverSky · 17/10/2010 11:05

Congrats lilmiss ! Bet it's nice to be home. Thanks for sharing your birth story. I was half expecting you to say you had a c section.

Quite common for the cord to get tangled.

nymphadora · 17/10/2010 11:31

Dd3 just been weighed for 10 day check. Now 7lb 11 so gained 11 oz in 5 days! V proud of my milkGrin

shieldbug · 17/10/2010 11:48

congratulations lilmiss. Sounds like you had a worrying time of it, but thank goodness everything worked out ok in the end. It must be lovely to be home with Isabella now
(great name btw). Looking forward to seeing piccies.

moonstorm Have you contacted your mw? i know they probably wouldn't want to admit you yet, but just to get reassurance that everything is ok. After all, they may be able to do something to speed things up. As for the pain, I think that it varies- the contractions don't necessarily get more painful, just more frequent, so this might be as bad as it gets. Hope it's all over soon ((hugs)).

Oooh SamB let's hope this is it. Although I didn't say anything yesterday, I've been really down recently too and your post really helped to know I wasn't the only one. Like you, I'm a doer and being restricted in what I can do doesn't sit well with me at all. I'm feeling better today thankfully.

I don't know if things are happening here or not. I know that contractions are meant to make your bump tight, but mine is feeling permanently tight since last night, and there's only been the odd twinge that could even optimistically be called a contraction. I suppose it's all signs that things are moving in the right direction, but it could be ages yet. 40+1.

shieldbug · 17/10/2010 11:49

sorry nymph meant to say well done on Matilda's weight gain. Your milk is obviously good stuff!

SamanthaB123 · 17/10/2010 12:13

Shieldbug Thanks for your message too. I am surprised at how many of us were feeling low with still being pregnant, I thought it was just me. I am really glad that you feel better today. I just feel weird, really tired and achy, a bit sick, constant backache and tummy pains all over. The thing is my cervix was closed on Thursday, so I'm not sure it could be dilating today? How long does it take to go from closed to favourable?

Well done with your milk Nymph*!

floozietoozie · 17/10/2010 12:42

((((Moonstorm)))) aw bless you. It could go quickly once it actually starts and once you're into the swing of it you might find it very different. As well as paracetamol, do you have a tens machine you can use, or if not can you send dh out to get one? What was your birth story like last time? I know prem and CS but did you have any labour or did they have to deliver suddenly? Hope you get some rest and respite.

Nymph - good going.

It's lovely and sunny. Sis, nieces dp and ds havevgone to local farmers' market. I'd quite like to go out too but using time to rest seems more sensible.

DD is three weeks old today.

Hermya321 · 17/10/2010 12:51

SamB Shieldbug Nope you're not the only ones, I'm done with this whole pregnancy malarky. I'm tired, achey and just want LO out of me. He's so hyperactive at the moment. Last night he was awake from 1130pm until gone 3am just wriggling around like some sort of hyperactive owl. It's so strange, it's like he can't quite decide if he's comfy or not.

I'm also feeling a lot of pressure on my right hip which makes me a little concerned that he's tucked his head in there. I hope he untucks it soon. It's not as bad as it was, but still you can't help but think can you.

Nymph Well done on your milk.

Floozie Enjoy your rest.

Moonstorm You poor thing, I hope it gets going soon and your wait is over.

Vikks · 17/10/2010 13:02

Well done Lilmiss sounds like you're very glad to be home after all that. Congratulations on Isabella's birth! (That was my girls name too).

SamB, Shield & Hermya SNAP!!!! OMG Baby get out! 40+4! Sad Sweep tomorrow...

Moonstorm ((Hugs)) I hope things speed up for you.

Nymph Great news on the weight gain.

BackAgain · 17/10/2010 16:08

Congrats to Lilmiss, bet you are glad to be home after all that

Hope all those who are fed-up are feeling a bit better today or that signs have turned into something more promising. I am doing OK, a bit fed-up but as DD was late I think I am expecting this one to be too. I am feeling a bit nervous about the labour so trying not to think about it too much. No signs for me - a few sharp pains at the bottom of my bump but haven't had any contractions.

My main problem at the moment is DD and being too tired to give her proper attention, been relying on cbeebies and dvds this week as I have been so tired. She goes to nursery in the mornings so is at least getting stimulation and interaction there. I think I will see if there are any family members who fancy taking her out in the afternoons this next week to give her a bit of a change of scene.
