Hi everyone!

Better day today- dd fed once in 8hrs last night so feeling much more human! She had her tongue tie snip yesterday and already we are pain free and feeding sooooo much better. She looks less jaundiced too (though still nicely tanned Wink)

Dog is not coping very well at all though, absolute bundle of nerves when Ds or dd are making noise :(

Nymph- hurray for yummy chocolate!! Will help with baby blues :)

SamB - it's so sad that these things happen. I was blissfully unaware of such things before I started to have children. It brings a whole new dimension of respect to women and what we go through iykwim.

Dilly- thinking of you :)

Roobear- longtime no see!

Hermya-Sounds close! Don't exhaust yourself, it will happen...

Right, end of feed best get Ds into bed then try to have a sane conversation with dh.

Today's top tip (ala nymph) - expect the unexpected! Ds never possetted or explosive poo'd whilst being changed. I needed a complete change of clothes after dd threw up her entire feed today onto me, then started rooting for more. I must be making some pretty good stuff, she can't get enough!!!

rollerbaby · 14/10/2010 19:02

Ladies - how long do your BH last? Sitting here with a very tight bump for the last few minutes? Quite uncomfy....

SilverSky · 14/10/2010 20:09

Not had any so can't advise!

Perhaps tis the real thing?

jessebelle · 14/10/2010 20:18

Hia

Well not a good day for me. Thought things were moving along last night and my mum was convinced we'd be up in the night going to hospital. But this morning nada and when we went to hospital for the overdue 41-week appointment the registrar who saw me was really brusque and started going on about induction and caesareans etc etc without even first asking me properly how I was feeling or doing the usual blood pressure/fetal heartbeat stuff.

I had no idea I'd be choosing between induction or caesarean before 42 weeks - the previous obs I'd seen had been really nice and hadn't mentioned any ultimatums like this, simply that they'd see how I go etc. And the VBAC session I had at hospital didn't mention it either. But I am now booked in for an ELCS on Thursday 21st if baby doesn't come by itself.

He also told me to book a sweep with my midwife. So may do that although this time I'm definitely making sure my cervix is examined and is confirmed so-called 'ripe' as that was the problem last time, ie, unlike SamB's midwife, the woman who did my sweep just did it even though the cervix was closed and 'unfavourable' (she told me AFTER she'd done it) - was such a painful horrible experience.

In the meantime planning nice family type things to do and trying to take mind off the fact I'm now officially way 'overdue' and my hopes that this baby would play ball are waning! GRRRRR! I should stay calm and feel grateful that, so far, I've got a healthy baby in there and I just need to be patient... I know... sorry to vent!

moonstorm · 14/10/2010 21:35

(((((((( Jessebelle ))))))) hope things start to happen soon.

Wondering how Dilly is getting on...

Had my 40 week Shock appointment today. Slightly disconcerting that I have seen a different registrar each time and the midwifes seem to be more on the ball and know the procedures than the registrars.... (the registrar told me today that if my membranes break not to worry about the strepB - the midwife's face was a picture and told me that I needed to go in for anti-b's and it continuted on this vein... Hmm)

I was trying to decide whether to have a sweep or not, but the midwife suggested waiting until next Firday and then assessing me cervix then to see where to go from there. Fingers crossed I won't make it to that appointment.

The head is 'well down' and the syptoms I've been having are positive (cramps/ stabbing pains in my cervix). The midwife said not to worry yet that nothing seemed to be happening, that things gradually get ready then it can all happen suddenly. Hope she's right!!

I've had loads of sensations on my cervix tonight, so have been bouncing loads on my ball. Mayben tonight is the night...

On a different note, parking at the hospital was a laugh!! (maybe Hmm Grin ). There were hardly any parking places and the all were tight! I had to get out of my car and get a random lady to reverse in as there was no way I could park up and get out of the car!!! Then an attendant came to help - he phoned round other parts of thospital to see if there were any places wide ebough for me to park - they found me a space and he had to drive the car out again so that I could drive to a wider space!!! At least the labour ward should have better spaces!!!

Here's hoping we'll have some babies tonight!!!

moonstorm · 14/10/2010 21:36

Please excuse all typos!!! Must proof read...

shieldbug · 14/10/2010 22:27

moonstorm I have also been getting "sensations in my cervix"! I really don't know if they are significant pains or not. I also am having pains in my bump, but they don't seem strong enough to count as contractions. Here's hoping we both see some baby action soon! Had to laugh at your parking adventures!

jesse it does seem extreme to be giving you choices like that at 41 weeks, but hopefully you won't need to worry about it because the baby will come of its own accord. I didn't realise that the cervix had to be ready for a sweep. I suppose mine must have been because she went ahead and did it and it wasn't painful, just weird. Hope if you need one it is better than last time.

Hope things are going well dilly looking forward to good news soon.

shieldbug · 14/10/2010 22:28

0h yes, 39+5

floozietoozie · 15/10/2010 07:41

Good morning, as ds just said to me. We're halfway through October today. Celebrate with another baby...?

Jessebelle sorry your consultant was threatening. Let's hope it kicks off for you before next week.

Dp has just presented me with an omlette and grapefruit juice. Time to munch!

NinthWave · 15/10/2010 09:07

SamB that's so, so sad :(

I know someone who lost a baby at birth, it's one of the reasons I'm going for induction as this baby is big/had complications with DS - I'm too scared to go very overdue.

I rang the labour ward at 8am and they want me in at 11 - we're leaving in just under an hour!

See you on the other side ladies XX

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/10/2010 09:32

BeSt of luck ninthwave!!!! Enjoy those baby snuggles and look forward to hearing all about it :)

shieldbug · 15/10/2010 10:24

Good luck ninthwave, will be thinking of you and hope all goes well. Hooray, another baby soon!

Still here, still pg, still sleep deprived and no signs of the sweep having worked. Sad.

honeymoo any news? Have things started for you?

SamanthaB123 · 15/10/2010 10:47

Morning,

We are much quieter here now we have babies and some people are in hospital! There isn't much news from me at all. Yesterday my cervix was closed but the baby engaged. The midwife was surprised that the baby was as far down as she was, partly because this is a third baby and they tend to float more freely (it's really roomy in there now apparantly Hmm) and partly because with a baby that low there is usually action in the cervix. I was wondering how rapidly the cervix can alter? I wish I'd asked now.

It looks like Dilly will have had her baby by now and NinthWave will be underway shortly too!

I had thought that all of the niggles were really positve, but I wonder a bit now. I've been niggling for weeks, yet I can't see that there has been any change or benefit to it. Since mhey cervix has been poked about my discharge has changed and has been more browny. I don't think that it's been a show though. There hasn't been enough. I really feel like I will be pregnant forever at the moment, lousy.

Good luck for those with some symptoms, hope you are all progressing well - any changes?

rollerbaby · 15/10/2010 10:56

Nope nuffink from my end (ha ha). Had back to back BH yesterday evening but managed a reasonable night's sleep and feel 'normal' today! Few little crampy feelings in the night but nothing painful or significant...

Want to get my hair done on Saturday so no bouncing on ball until that's over!

BackAgain · 15/10/2010 11:02

Good luck ninthwave

We are a bit quieter aren't we lots of people either busy with babies or trying to distract ourselves. No signs from me as yet (38+4) but as went overdue with dd not expecting anything soon. Luckily dh is now working at home until after paternity leave as he has a long commute. So at least if anything dies happen he is close at home.

Just made cupcakes with dd as trying to avoid Cbeebies overload though think we will be watching princess and the frog later so I can have a nap!

Hope everyone is ok and quietness means we will have some baby news soon

Vikks · 15/10/2010 11:50

Ninth Best of luck today, you?ll be holding your LO in no time.
Ivy EDD Buddy. Anything?
Hope we get some news from Dilly today!

Well I was starting to feel hopeful last night, lots of pressure and discomfort. I was pacing around thinking any minute I would have a painful contraction, but no! I do think he might be more engaged now, I?m walking like a cowboy and getting pains in my pelvis and trapped nerves at the tops of my legs. What do you think? He can?t hang on another week like that, can he? Hmm
I?m a bit annoyed about the leg pains as DH has been taking me for lovely walks everyday and right now I?m thinking I?ll be spending the last days of my PG in bed or on the sofa. Well the end is in sight, they won?t let me go over 42 weeks so at the most I?ll be waiting 12 days to hold my little Harry.
My M&D are arriving today too and are not leaving until they meet their Grandson. I?m really looking forward to the distraction, I know they?ll help me through these long days. So BBQ tonight, we?re gonna smoke him out! Grin

40+2!

AbFabT · 15/10/2010 11:56

Ooh, 9th, good luck! Hurry back with your update!

nymphadora · 15/10/2010 12:03

Good luck ninth

Really bad headache today not sure if it's come down, sleeping badly/awkwardly or dehydration. Not had headache for 9 months bit of a culture shock! On the other hand dd3 is convinced dh should provide milk. She crawls all over his chest rooting & doesn't bother with dds or my mam or anyone. Just me & him. Think he feels bad he can't!

Hermya321 · 15/10/2010 12:05

Ninth Good luck today!

I ended up in hospital last night with rib pain and headaches. I've been discharged this morning and am still none the wiser as to whats going on with my body. I've been told to take paracetamol Hmm.

I'm still achey and crampy, and am now on the wrong side of tired.

Well I'm going to go off and have a nap.

I hope everyone else is well.

38+4.

Vikks · 15/10/2010 12:14

Hermya Hope you feel better after a nap. x

Xavielli · 15/10/2010 12:50

Ninth Hope everything goes well!

Hermya I hope the nap helps.

I'm feeling exceptionally smug today - Both of my kids are getting their class awards for being great this month. I had a phonecall saying DS was getting one on Monday and ofcourse was very proud. Then on Wednesday, I was in town having coffee with a friend and the school phoned again to say DD was also getting one! I exploded into very proud, very hormonal tears when I got off the phone - cue funny looks but I don't care Grin so will be going to the assembly this afternoon to clap and cheer.

On the baby front - not a peep! Ah well, by 14th November I'll have my little baby!

Xavielli · 15/10/2010 12:51

To clarify - my baby is infact 'peeping' alot, wriggly little thing! Just not showing any signs of wanting to come out!

SamanthaB123 · 15/10/2010 12:52

Jessebelle I really hope that things start for you soon to avoid a section. I have found that my midwife care is much better than the consultant led care at the hospital. I just ask to see the consultant when I check in now as I found the registrars to be hopeless and inconsistent. One decided that he needed to operate on my cyst at 24 weeks and therefore deliver the baby. Another one was going to induce me at 36 weeks. When I saw the consultant he thought these were ludicrous suggestions. I guess I was lucky with my midwife yesterday, at least you know what to ask for this time to avoid the situation that you had last time. I also think that having had two babies a sweep is probably easier to do as there?s plenty more room up there Blush.

Moonstorm See above regarding registrars! I have a lot of sensation in the cervical area ? it definitely means that the baby is really low. It is a good thing especially if you bounce up and down because that will stimulate the cervix, potentially into some kind of action (not mine clearly, but it seems to be the case with others!).

Vikks Very amused at the idea of smoking your baby out Smile. Maybe I should try that too!

Nymph How are you getting on? I am so jealous that you are on the other side! Matilda sounds so cute. Sorry to hear that you have headaches though, hopefully you?ll feel better soon.

Hermya Sorry that you are suffering a bit too. Is it worth speaking to your midwife to get her to interpret what the hospital wrote in your notes? She might be able to explain what their thinking was. I have been to hospital on a few occasions and come away wondering what just happened to me. I usually end up with far more questions in retrospect than I could think of when I was there.

Nothing of any note happening here, just off out to lunch with DH. Still have a bit of brownish discharge, but still not convinced that it?s anything to do with the show. Hopefully we?ll have some baby news later today from some of the others!

cheekymonkeyno3 · 15/10/2010 13:04

just wanting to wish everyone the best of luck as probably wont get to a computer much due to finally moving today (got held up slightly) and no fancy phone to use. :( i will try and update if there is any exciting news. just got to hope that baby will stay put this weekend, can't wait to start nesting properly yeah!! :o :o :o
