Xavielli · 10/10/2010 09:51

I'm glad you're home Vikks! That must have been very scarey! Maybe the nurses think that if throwing up didn't bring on your labour that baby just isn't quite ready yet?

Hermya321 · 10/10/2010 09:55

Morning all!!

Abfab I hope you feel better soon.

Urmm I'm ok, I had one or two waking with cramps moment last night. I did a bit of googling last night, it seems that having a couple of on and off contractions for a few hours that stop and start is normal. Apparently it helps to thin the cervix out. So I feel quite positive that we're heading in the right direction. In a way I'm glad it tailed off, I was quite tired. I still have my fingers crossed that he'll make his appearence before midnight tonight for the cool birthdate, but if not then at least we've started.

I hope everyone else is ok this morning!!

SamanthaB123 · 10/10/2010 10:09

Morning everyone,

Vikks I hopoe that you are ok and able to get some rest before your baby is born.

Fingon has gone very quiet, maybe she will have the 10/10 baby!

Hermya How are you getting on this morning? Any news?

Don't think that I am going to be having a 10/10 baby. Little has changed since yesterday. I have contractions from time to time but they never seem to get me anywhere. Everyone else's seem to turn into labour Sad. Is this the curse of the third labour??! Slept really well last night which is unusual - nearly 11 hours. And I went to the loo and managed to get straight back to sleep. Have quite an sharp constant lower abdominal pain that is there all of the time at the moment. Don't know what that's about. I'm being a bit more ... bouncy on the ball this morning in the hope that it might make a difference.

AbFabT · 10/10/2010 10:15

Sea, thanks for the arnica tip! DB (foot through the ceiling one) brought me some arnica cream last night, so DH massaged that in for me, I'll get him to massage me more. Will also consider acupuncture if this doesn't get better quick. I wonder if reflexology helps too?
My thinking is that I have been lucky anyway - I didn't get any sickness or pains during the whole pregnancy, maybe it is only fair I get a little now! And I do have a baby to show for it, and I am SOOOOO in love with him, it kinda makes anything ok!

tf and Xav (and I know there were a few previous kind comments too) thanks for the nice words about his name! :) We love it! Sorry I wrote about his arrival in such a way his name wasn't clear!

Mm, I'd love some cake! Didn't get to baking in the end - no way! But will do soon!

tf, I was out and about loads too, prior to his arrival - now with the back ache, and the leaking lady bits, I ain't going nowhere! As Xav says, do what you feel like doing - I bet you won't be far from home anyway!

Vikks, glad you are home. Hope things happen soon for you, and you are back to full strength soon.

SamB123, third labour could be very sudden and quick! You never know!

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes! I appreciate them.

lilmissmummy · 10/10/2010 12:51

Congratulations AbFab and Dontstopme on those beautiful babies! So jealous you are enjoying baby cuddles :) but pleased for you too! Hannah is really pretty and when I told DH that you'd called your baby Maverick he said " what an excellent name, we should put it on our list for next time!" Next time???????!!!! Ummm I havent even had this one yet and I am not sure I can face another Hmm

Vikks glad you are on the mend!

SamB I am on 3rd labour and I have been having twinges and BH for a week or so but no sign of anything happening! I feel your pain lol Grin

No chance of me having the 10/10 baby!! Nothing happening at all, I was hoping that the fear of induction was going to push me into labour but it is not looking good!

38 (induced tomorrow)

nymphadora · 10/10/2010 12:54

Am home now, quick post as still on my phone.

Congrats to all the new babies.been reading not posting.

Need quick advice, milk come in today BIG time & the huge bras I bought only just fasten & no where near fit so I need temporary (cheap) nursing bras. Ones. I bought were 36 E & not sure how much bigger cup wise to go. 38 should be ok on the back.

FingonTheValiant · 10/10/2010 14:00

Sorry, no name checking, just a quick update.

Baby Valérien, 7lbs 12, arrived at 1am today, so we've got a 10/10 baby :o

Was contracting hard every 8mins at 9.30pm, phoned my doula to update her, hung up and suddenly they ramped up to 3 in 10mins. So called her back to ask her to come and then had a show, so started filling up the pool.

The doula arrived at about 10 and called the midwives to warn them that I was in labour. I got in the pool and took two paracetamol and that helped for a while.

About 11.30 contractions became hideously strong and I got over hot so got out the pool and went to lean on the sofa. Midwives arrived at midnight, and I was already feeling like I needed to push, although I was determined not too for as long as possible.

Was in agony and really hoping for gas and air; but the midwives said I was being very quiet (I thought I was making a hell of a noise), so was obviously not that close and managing fine. 12.30 they ask to see how dilated I am, and instead see the head, cue urgent call to extra midwife (who, incidently, never made it!).

Couldn't not push any longer, so got the head half out and then they asked me to turn around - not impressed, I was labouring in my back and really did not want to be the other way around. 2 more contractions and baby was out - on two bloody paracetamol. I was not happy. The midwives said I was one of the quietest women they'd ever seen - so despite how I felt at the time, the hypnobirthing obviously paid off.

Physiological 3rd stage went well, but was painful (more than 4 hours since paracetamol dose Hmm ) and had a very slight 2nd degree tear. They very generously gave me gas and air for that though (can you tell I'm a bit annoyed by the lack of pain relief :o)

Got to bed about 4.30, and little Valou slept from 6-12.30 after a big feed. He's not quite mastered his latch, but we're working on it.

Good luck to everyone else, still 8 hours to get another 10/10 baby!

FingonTheValiant · 10/10/2010 14:02

Congrats dontstopme and baby Hannah

Vikks sorry to hear things aren't going well for you :( I hope things pick up.

Hermya321 · 10/10/2010 14:16

Flingon COngratulations!!!

SamB Thats happened to me as well, me and DH are gonna go on a walk soon to see if things get moving that way.

Hope things are well for everyone else.

moonstorm · 10/10/2010 14:24

Congratulations Fingon!!! 10.10.10!! Woohoo!

Nymph I've just posted on your other thread - I've bought these for the first couple of weeks until my breasts settle. FWIW when my milk came in on that day my breast size DOUBLED. They shrunk again, but there was quite a time of growing and shrinking before and after a feed:

mothercare

figleaves

They weren't cheap (I did an online search for voucher codes) but I'm hoping they'll be comfortable for teh first couple of weeks.

lilmissmummy · 10/10/2010 15:00

Congratulations Fingon yay for the 10/10 baby!! I have never heard the name Valerien, its is lovely, how do you pronounce it? loving the Valou nickname too! Congratulations on the birth with no pain relief too. (dont think paracetamol count :) ) I dont think I could manage it!

I am FINALLY nesting!!!! Grin better late than never! lol

xx

nymphadora · 10/10/2010 15:56

Congrats fingon & love the name!

SilverSky · 10/10/2010 16:00

cheekymonkeyno3 · 10/10/2010 16:02

good luck to anybody nearly there! things have been getting more painful lately but i don't think anything will happen for a while still. had a lot of strong painful BH tho.

xx

37+1 - feels like ages but could be anytime

FingonTheValiant · 10/10/2010 16:22

Thanks all!

lilmiss it's sort of va-lay-ree-an

Pic on profile now :)

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 10/10/2010 16:33

Congratulations Fingon!! Lovely name and a 0100.10.10.10 on 00 painrelief is satisfyingly binary Grin

sorry, can only cope with birth announcements at moment, juggle lack of sleep with my high maintenance father visiting argh!! X

sam12 · 10/10/2010 16:38

fingon how cute is he? Congratulations!
Also big congrats to abfab and don'tstopme
It's really great to hear the birthing stories is helping to build my confidence. We've just been food shopping and I told my dh that at least now he's got some food to keep him going if I die in childbirth- which shows how confident I am about it all!!
Bought a birthing ball whilst out as well although hopes of a 10/10/10 baby are fading. The curry I had last night just kept me awake with indigestion! Oh well I'll try and hold on till the 20th.
39+ 6

Well done you.

Nymph I would suggest the vests too. I have a couple on the way to me via mum and dad.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 10/10/2010 17:01

Nymph- vests with support are fab until things settle.

Fingon he's gorgeous :) I need to get my profile sorted!

Xavielli · 10/10/2010 17:02

Congrats Fingon He is perfect!

lilmissmummy · 10/10/2010 17:05

Its a really lovely name and he is just gorgeous! :) xx

Hermya321 · 10/10/2010 17:24

Flingon He is beautiful!! Congratulations!!

SamanthaB123 · 10/10/2010 17:45

Congratulations Fingon. I hope you get the latch sorted soon.

Nymph Will bra extenders do? They are very inexpensive (JoJoMamanBebe I think) - about £3 for four.

Chin up to all those waiting. The difference between still being pregnant and actually having your baby is emmense isn't it? I feel like my baby will never come. I was much more mentally ready and generally prepared two weeks ago than I am today. I am becoming more uneasy each day that passes. Who knows what that is about?!
