Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hermya321 · 09/10/2010 19:28

Things have calmed down for me now, I had about three hours of contractions and they've tailed off now. I'm going to just relax, run a bath and go to bed in a bit and rest up.

DillyDora · 09/10/2010 19:36

CONGRATULATIONS to AbFab and Dontstopme !! Hurray!

Also hoping Vikks is ok.

Hang on in there floozie and I wouldn't worry about ds watching tv either.

Go for it fingon and Hermya

Had some pains this morning, but nothing major since.Had a play with the TENS and found it surprisingly good! On pre-eclampsia symptom watch which is quite distracting (and daft - nothing like looking for a symptom to make you feel it!). DH spoke to a friend of ours last night who's a consultant obstetrician who's offered to see me and review my notes, he's keen to induce me at his hospital tho and I don't really want to leave the house (!). Really hoping LO could just start labour and save his mummy all this!!! Am absolutely exhausted, wonder if this is my body telling me to rest before the main event?!

On the matter of muslins... I sent DH out to get some more last week and he came back with 70cm of muslin, from the roll of fabric in the haberdashery dept Hmm bless...

Come on 10/10 babies!

Vikks · 09/10/2010 19:47

Hi All, I?ve just got back from the hospital.
TMI Alert- I started vomiting a bit of blood as well as the headache not going, they said for me to go up for some tests. So many hours later and loads of tests and they have no idea. It?s not pre-eclampsia which was the main worry and Harry seems happily unaffected. So I?m back home in bed now trying to keep some food or liquid down and my lovely DH is running around looking after me. I feel so weak at the moment if I do go into labour I don?t know where I?ll find the energy from.
Thanks for all your advice and concern.

Backagain Happy Birthday!

AbFab Fantastic news congratulations! Enjoy your little boy. X

Hermya & Fingon Good luck!

Vikks · 09/10/2010 19:51

X-post

Dontstopmenow Congratulations! Can't wait to hear the details. x

DillyDora · 09/10/2010 19:52

Vikks Jaysus, love, that sounds a bit gruesome. Glad you got it checked out and I hope you feel better soon!

Backagain Happy Birthday! Sorry I forgot...

SilverSky · 09/10/2010 19:55

Vikks so pleased you posted. What a nightmare. Rest up dear girl. Hopefully your LO will allow you a couple of days rest prior to birth so you have some energy.

Congrats DSMN - wonderful news!!!

shieldbug · 09/10/2010 19:57

AbFAb sorry about the comment wondering what your little boy's name was- I managed to read your post and completely miss it! D'oh! Blame it on pregnabrain Blush

*don'tstopmenow" congratulations! Another girl! Hope you are enjoying a lovely time with your LO.

Good luck Hermya and Fingon. Thinking of you.

Vikks sounds like you have been having a really worrying time. Thank goodness Harry is still ok. Hope you feel better soon and they manage to work out what is wrong.

dilly Hope things kick off soon without you having to be induced. Lol at your dh buying muslin from a roll!

Sproglet is still showing no signs of wanting to leave anytime soon. Come on baby, don't you know it's the 10th tomorrow?

Xavielli · 09/10/2010 20:10

Hehe shieldbug I'm sat here trying to explain to my bump the need for them to arrive tomorrow - It's wriggling around, so probably not listening to me at all :o

dontstopmenow Congrats!!

Awww Vikks That sounds really nasty. I hope you get plenty of rest tonight.

jessebelle · 09/10/2010 20:25

Hello all

Can't remember when I last posted but I think I need to congratulate AbFab (wow, am amazed at your 55hr marathon!) and dontstopmenow, and that I haven't missed anybody else out???!!! Seems there are a LOT of babies being born and we're only just out of the first week of October!

We ended up with loads of spare muslins after DD was a baby and they DO get used for all sorts, including teatowels and impromptu dolly blankets and so on, so you can never have too many, honest!

Gosh Vikks, that sounds horrendous, hope you feel a LOT better soon. I'm sure it won't affect your labour - your body will probably let you rest & recover first.

I feel like I'm in that horrible limbo where nothing is really happening & I'm feeling like I may be headed for sweeps and suchlike. Have had a few facebook queries & can't give anybody anything meaningful. No signs apart from the odd hour where I feel crampy but it passes and I have to put it down to hoovering or lifting something I shouldn't have etc etc etc.

We tried the long uphill walk yesterday, then the superhot Thai curry (out to a restaurant for the first time in a million years) and today out to the woods and another huge uphill walk. So any cramps I'm getting are probably indigestion and ache from all that walking!

May well book myself some reflexology on Monday if nothing's still happening to see if they can get something to trigger off (my pilates teacher has a good pregnancy reflexology contact she swears by).

Meantime good luck to those who are feeling like something's rumbling & could be onto a 10/10 birthdate!!!

oh and I'm now 40+1...

Vikks · 09/10/2010 20:33

Just phoned the hospital again- if I can?t keep anything down in the next two hours, I?ve got to go in to be put on a drip. Sad
Dry toast and tea time, wish me luck!

SilverSky · 09/10/2010 20:44
AbFabT · 09/10/2010 20:52

Thanks for doing the list, SamB123.

Hee hee! No worries, shieldbug. Easily done!

Silver, imho, ALL tv presenters are annoying.

Back Again, Happy Birthday! Good luck with the back to back moving! SO worth getting baby moved, the extra pain from this position was not pleasant! I kept moaning about my bum to DH and the poor m/w!

Vikks, how concerning. Hope it lifts and you feel better soon.

Don'tStopMeNow, congratulations on your DD Hannah. :)

Dilly, that is hilarious about you DH and the muslin. Ingenious, in fact!
I found the TENS really good too! Had no idea what to expect, as I didn't trial it first.

Hermya and FtV, hope things are progressing for you.

I have hardly slept, still buzzing, and just want to gaze at and cuddle my gorgeous DS! :)

DillyDora · 09/10/2010 21:07

Good luck Vikks!!!

AbFab get some zzzzzs, girl! You'll be beyond anything! Yes, DH is a one off, very um...lateral thinking there...

Jessebelle sorry for the frustration but glad you had a date with DH! I'm a bit like you, it all seems v on and off and I'm aware this could go on a very long time... I think I might be cut off in my prime when I see the consultant on Monday and he gets all keen on inducing so I'm hoping for at least a little something to have begun by then...

Hermya321 · 10/10/2010 00:01

Just a little update, things seemed to have tailed off for me for the moment. I've tried to get some sleep but feel a bit restless for that at the moment. I just feel a little nauscous and odd, I'm going to try and get some sleep in a bit.

floozietoozie · 10/10/2010 01:32

You have 23 hours to push out those 10/10/10 LOs girls..... Anybody??

AbFab icdid have back labour with ds and it was very intense during the whole thing. There was nolet up in the pain threshold and no dying down betwen contractions. I didn't feel contractions iykwim. However the pain stopped once ds was born BUT my experience was way f
different to yours as I gad a fast labour - waters went at 1am, started getting cramps at around 2- 2.30, in established labour by 3.30 and 3cm, pushing at 6.30, ds born 7.04! So i'm not surprised you were sore after two days of it. Trust me though, you really really don't want to have a section - the experienfe and recovery is dire IMO, allowing for the fact I had the cystas a complication (and more pain)... I felt yhe euphoria you are talking about after ds's birth but nothing like it after dds as I was drugged to the eyeballs on morphine. Natural high much better. I didn't get that your ds's name was Maverick either initially, or at least I wasn't sure. I'm going to have to br annoying and ask if this means you or dh were big fans of Top Gun way back when in the 80s - "I feel the need, the need for speed!"

Dontstopmenow congratulations on little Hannah. Dying to hear your birth story. Were you consultant led? We missed each other on thexward by one day!

AbFabT · 10/10/2010 05:02

Ooh, jesse, if you aren't going bonkers, and there is no medical reason for inducing soonest, I'd try natural first - reflexology etc, rather than getting induced (remember - pig semen!) - reflexology is a nice little foot massage anyway! In the meantime, enjoy those dates with DH for now!

floozie, I guess you are right re the CS (well, you'd know better than me!), but during my lonnnng labour, the idea of having a quick op, where you know when your baby is coming, and you know what's happening, in many ways seemed preferable to what at one stage I felt was a labour that was just going to last forever - I couldn't imagine him ever coming out, where I'd get the strength after being awake for so long, and the intense agony in my lower spine/back passage. But this natural high, I guess there is no beating it. Though I do have the ongoing back agony now, it really hurts to move or sit in most positions. :( But I really am not complaining, I am still SO so happy.

Who doesn't like Top Gun! :) Ha, well, yes, the name was inspired from there, but I wasn't an exceptionally huge TG fan - just LOVE the name (and I realise it's not Tom's real name).
It's not in the top 100 names, is it! :) But it IS in a baby name book I found, so not totally off the wall! And if he doesn't like it, he can easily go by Rick as a mn, to be more mainstream. He has options!

floozietoozie · 10/10/2010 05:48

abfabru up still too? Great, a bfing buddy!!! Mav is a nice shorthand too I think. V versatile name. I can totally understand wanting to do anything to get the baby here asap during such a long labour btw. Re the back pain, are you taking anything? Obviously you can have psracetamol but if it's still bad ask for some diclofenac which is stronger and fine to take while bfing. Don't struggle on without pain relief. Your hypnobirthing comment made mr laugh too. I'd say managing for 24 hours with no drugs probably meant you WERE doing it right!!! I only had my cd for a week but I dis try to use a bit of it during the hours of agony after the cyst burst before the section, and also to stay calm when on the ward in the days afterwards.

floozietoozie · 10/10/2010 05:58

Vikksare you still with us? Hope your stomach has improved.

DD is exactly two weeks old. Wow.

Hermya what's happening?

Belated happy birthday backagain.

AbFabT · 10/10/2010 06:20

Yup, did a little night feed, went back to bed, now just up for nappy change! It's all good!

I've kinda forgotten I was awake for so long getting him out - it's a bit of a blur!

I am going to try and ride out the pain - I don't like taking drugs at all, and everything goes through to him - I should only have a week or so of this, if it's not better then, I'll rethink.

Love that he has nn options - Mac, Mav, Max, Mick, Rick etc. I really thought this one through. :)

Can't believe you've done two weeks already! x

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 10/10/2010 08:46

Abfab- take arnica for bruising/swelling and use heat to help with pain. If you can, get dh to massage area gently and poss acupuncture. Lots of soft seating needed! Have they told you to support your perineum when you go to the toilet? Really helps :)

Alternatively, after your G and A revelation, reach for the paracetamol. It's only for a few days and it makes you feel so much better!( I like a multimodal approach!!)

tiredfeet · 10/10/2010 08:50

abfab I love the name Maverick! I think its fab. and like you say there's loads of options for nicknames. Sorry your suffering at the moment though but sounds like your little boy is a good distraction from the pain.

off swimming today and then meeting a friend for coffee and cake of course (following hermya's nutritional advice!). my sister-in-law has been telling me how I shouldn't really go anywhere now, how I shouldn't even leave the house in case labour starts, I was just planning to carry on as normal really (but with hospital notes in bag) but now she's filling me with doubt....

40+1 today. have told baby that today would be a cool day to be born, so it only has itself to blame if it doesn't bother to come out Grin

SilverSky · 10/10/2010 09:04

tiredfeet I am 38+6 and plan to carry on getting out and about for as long as possible. I never stray to far anyway and if I am out in the car I have my phone so if you don't want to be housebound don't. Once your LO is here, to start with you possibly won't get out that much....... Just my opinion.

Xavielli · 10/10/2010 09:29

Vikks I hope you are feeling much better this morning.

tiredfeet Don't let her scare you, if you feel the need to get out of the house then do. Equally, if you feel the need to stay at home then do - I've felt the need to be at home strongly just before both of my previous labours.

AbFab Maverick is such an awesome name! I totally missed it too until I looked at the stats list.

My baby doesn't realise it's now full term and allowed to come out. It's obviously been reading the stats list and knows it is meant to be last!

Vikks · 10/10/2010 09:31

I?m back after an eventful night!
I?ve been sat in the delivery ward with a drip in my arm and finally managed to keep some toast down about 4pm, so they?ve let me come home. I?m on the mend and just need to concentrate on getting my strength back up quick so I can birth Harry when he decides he?s ready. Smile

39+4!

The nurses said goodbye to me, ?see you in a week or so?, I said ?no I?ll be just a few days? they laughed at me???do they know something I don?t? Hmmx

DillyDora · 10/10/2010 09:33

morning all, hope you'll be less uncomfortable very soon Abfab!

tiredfeet I agree with Silver just carry on as normal, and cart your notes about maybe.

now, where are today's babies....?

How are you doing HErmya? And Vikks?
