Hello, zapostrophe! I have seen your name around the boards! I like it - does it mean something? Anyway! Welcome! Is ice cream meant to help, or is it just because you fancy some?!

Loving SeaShells' nipple stumble! Like a nipple fumble! Nice work on the arrivals lounge - thanks for starting that!

Hello, Sophie, and well done mummy Tyson. Photo please! Hope you are having a lovely time with your new daughter! Congratulations!

It's all happening, we are in our month! Looking forward to all the arrivals! Yay!

tf, sorry to hear your parents keep calling! Must be annoying! I know they only care, and are excited, but surely they must know you'd call when you had any news!
How's the new haircut? I had mine trimmed today, I really don't enjoy going to the hairdresser though, I never have - am always anxious they'll cut too much off and I'll hate it.

Had my m/w appointment today, all fine, still 3/5ths engaged like I have been for the last month, I think! She said it didn't really mean much though. Heartbeat, urine and BP all fine, so I am chilled and happy just to wait.
Just had reflexology too, which is utterly blissful! Mmm.

Happy weekends, Everyone! Anyone up for a Friday Five?

39+4.

FingonTheValiant · 01/10/2010 22:15

Congratulations to Ksal and Tyson, and welcome Orin and Sophie :) So exciting how many babies are coming along now!

Sorry to hear you're so fed up SeaShells - btw, I read nipple stumble as fumble until you corrected it, it made me laugh! I need to get dh on board with that as well. I wonder if I can persuade him to have sex... hardly at my sexiest :o

Mum treated me to a pregnancy massage at a spa today, it was lush. Felt lovely to have my aching back done, and then 10 mins after I started getting cramps so was in pain again anyway :( Still, the foot massage was nice, and the hand massage worked wonders on my carpal tunnel stiffened hands! Might have to teach dh how to do it.

Loving the sperm race Hermya it's fab!

Nymph fingers crossed your little one hangs tight for a few more days!

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight!

Hermya321 · 01/10/2010 22:17

Hello Zap!! Welcome to the thread!

I've been a bit restless this evening, I've set the moses basket up, rearranged the drawers in the bedroom to make room for his clothes, put said clothes away, done a big shop online and bought rather a lot of loo roll. I've also got it into my head that LO needs a white cardigan (who knows) and am planning to go on a cardigan hunt with DH tomorrow.

I also have a touch of the runs (sorry TMI), I don't think I've eaten anything weird though.

LO is having himself a bit of a disco in there at the moment.

Hermya321 · 01/10/2010 22:23

I'll have a go at the Friday five if you want;

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush?

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour?

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far?

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy?

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others?

lilmissmummy · 01/10/2010 22:29

Hi Zapostophe welcome! keep bouncing! :)

Congratulations to Tyson and Sophie and also to Ksal and Orin.

Im up for a friday five however I havent done last weeks yet so Blush

36+5 (10 days to go)

lilmissmummy · 01/10/2010 22:38

wow cross posted with loads!

Great Friday Five, thanks Hermya (sounds like the nesting is going well!)

1 Current hormone induced crush - very anti men at the mo... not even fancy dh very much
2 Comedian would be Russell Howard
3 My favourite gift so far has been a beautiful and totally impractical dress for baby from Monsoon!
4 The most irritating thin people have been saying is "apart from the bump you look skinnier than you did before you fell pregnant" Thanks I was obviously enormous before as well then :) lol
5 Useful piece of advice would be the suggestion of Rantidine (sp?) for my heartburn... has totally saved my life.

Sperm Race is fantastic!I am totally rubbish at it!

Grin nipple stumble!

I am very Envy at your spa Fingon

AbFabT · 01/10/2010 23:09

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush?
I know this is lame, but I am utterly besottedly smitten with DH, and only DH! If I HAD to say someone else, it'd be Kiefer. It's been Kiefer for years, and no other celeb comes close!

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour?
Um, ... DH! He's not a professional comedian, but he makes me cry with laughter pretty much every day.
I do like Milton Jones. There's another one from Mock The Week but I don't know his name. Also like Jimmy Carr and Jack Dee.

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far?
We haven't received anything yet, except that the ILs paid for the hammock, but we chose that. (I take it you mean baby-related, and not just since we were born ourselves?!)

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy?
Nothing. I haven't even had strangers touch my tummy, nothing. I must give off an air of "don't mess with me"! :)

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others?
A few people have advised to stock up on as much sleep as possible, so I have it banked in reserve. I have yet to see if this works, or whether I have conditioned myself to lots of sleep and it means MORE of a struggle on less sleep when this baby arrives! Who knows!

tiredfeet · 02/10/2010 01:05

abfab I don't particularly like the hairdressers normally either, but at the minute I'm enjoying every distraction which makes the time go a bit faster!

hermya that game is hilarious!

I'll have a go at the friday five for once, I hardly ever found the time to join in.

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush?
I've actually got major lust for DH all the time. but grand designs has reawakened my embarrsing Kevin McCloud crush much to DH's amusement Blush

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour?
Russell Howard, or sometimes Paul Merton

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far?
oooh tough one, both sets of in laws have been very generous, but they've bought sensible presents. I think my favourites are a gorgeous change bag from my sister-in-law which was a total surprise, and a beautiful little cuddly toy for baby, which is so lovely DH and I have kept it out in the living room ever since it arrived, it feels like part of the family now! Blush

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy?
if one more person rings to check for news I will SCREAM

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others?
to use a hair bobble on trousers, saved me buying maternity trousers until I was about 6 months +. Similarly, bra extenders were a brilliant tip that saved me needing to buy new bras so often. But the best was probably my friend who said everyone will have opinions on everything you do as a pregnant woman and a parent, and you need to learn to let most of it go in one ear and out the other, otherwise you will go mad!

hope you all have lovely weekends, can't believe its finally October!

39 weeks today (its technically Saturday now Grin )

nymphadora · 02/10/2010 06:25

Hi zapostrophe Joining us at the exciting time!

hermya LOL at the game

Woke at 5:30 and gave upon sleeping now.AM also very hungry and sat with a pile of food Blush

Today is our last child-free day for a LOOOONNNGG time so we are going to Asda for breakfast and picking up car seat then up the Lakes for lunch. We tried for a night out last night but nothing was on at the pictures and not a lot else I'm up to.

37+3

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 09:24

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush? Richard Armitage, he is well lush! But actually feeling quite loved up with DH at the moment Blush.

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour? Russell Howard.

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far? My MIL bought us a Quinny pram which I love to bits.

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy? 'Not sleeping now is practice for when the baby comes', no it's not, it's just plain cruel.

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others? Drinking hot milk before I go to bed, my heartburn hasn't been quite as bad whilst doing this.

I think my DH is nesting big style, I came into the living room this morning and he was cleaning the windows. He had all the knick knacks out and had cleaned them, he's sorted all the paperwork out and he's also cleaned the kitchen. I didn't even know he was aware that windows needed cleaning let alone where the windowlene was.

I have to say it's very bizare to watch.

Elsa123 · 02/10/2010 09:35

Morning everyone!

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush? Don't really have one.

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour? Victoria Wood and any sketch where she uses Julie Walters, especially the one where she's an ancient waitress.

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far? Umm, my MIL has knitted some lovely cardigans including a little hoodie. My mum has also knitted a cashmere bonnet, mittens and booties.

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy? My mum teling me EVERY time she sees me how big I am.

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others? Put a teaspoon of cider vinegar in water to combat acid reflux.

Xavielli · 02/10/2010 09:43
  1. Who is your current hormone induced crush?

I have to say I'm in the 'my DP is droolworthy' camp at the moment.

  1. What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour?

Bill Bailey - Infact we listened to his CD whilst I was in labour with DD and was giggling in between contractions.

  1. We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far?

Not had anything yet - 3rd baby syndrome. I expect the grandparents will by an outfit or something when baby arrives.

4)What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy?

Um... Probably the midwife at the start describing me as an 'older mum' just because I'm not a 'teenage mum' anymore - Don't I just get to be 'Mum'? Or last week, when I mentioned that I was worried this one was bigger than my others, the midwife shrugged and said 'it's never going to be worse than the first time' - Well surely if the baby is 4lb heavier and I tear etc, it is going to be worse!!

5)What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others?

My Mum told me when I was expecting my first to listen politely to all advice, then completely ignore it and do what comes naturally.

29days to go.

nymphadora · 02/10/2010 11:51

Lol @ hermya and Richard armitage! You must have mentioned him in every post this week Grin
Very sweet everyone loving their DPs too wonder if that's a default state in pregnancy?

We now have a car seat fitted in my car. Also have bags in . Been to labour ward this am for monitoring as baby hadn't been moving & I had pains. Baby soon kicked off over the monitor & spent 20 mins trying to escape. I have a UTI anyway so now have antibiotics to keep me going. The Dr kept saying about UTIs can trigger labour & do I know what it feels like. Actually I'm not sure I do by a long way, can't remember dd2 & had loads of pain this time but not sure I would know the difference! Anyway I only have to get to Thursday so fingers crossed!

Currently sat in a car park waiting for dh to buy cushions then we are off out for lunch

Vikks · 02/10/2010 12:19

My Friday Five.

1, Who is your current hormone induced crush?
Ryan Reynolds is always top of my list, PG or not. But I have say my DH might just pip him to the post right now!

2, What comedian do you think could laugh you into labour?
Chris Rock always gives me face ache.

3, We've all had things bought for us by relatives, what has been your favourite gift so far?
My pushchair/travel system. I love it and have got my generous mum and dad to thank for it.

4, What has been the most irritating thing people have said to you during your pregnancy?
?God you?re huge! You?ll never get to 40 weeks.?
Oh yes I will!

5, What has been the most useful piece of advice you've been given by someone either in this pregnancy or others?
Enjoy everyday, as I?m so lucky to have a happy heathly pregnancy (I?ve got friends who would give there right arms to be where I am now) and after a very long slog to get PG I really do feel privileged.

38+3

11 days to go? Hmm

Elsa123 · 02/10/2010 15:34

On the phone to my really annoying FIL....reading your posts instead!!!

Elsa123 · 02/10/2010 15:44

Vikks I hope you get to exactly 40 weeks just to prove everyone wrong!!!! Grin.

floozietoozie · 02/10/2010 15:57

Vikks, your answer to number five made me cry. Hormones everywhere! Things not great but no time to explain. Fearing feeding going west as Zazie has lost weight and I have to give top ups of formula. Not good. Also have bleeding nipple - ouch! Stuck here till Monday. Did I say she's down with me now? Fab until this morning when I thought we were home and dry. Have formula-fed her own child nursery nurse on duty too not helping.

AbFabT · 02/10/2010 16:03

floozie, I am no BF expert, but I have read that babies do lose weight after they are born, and this is completely normal. Get a proper BF counsellor asap. Good luck. x

sophieandbelly · 02/10/2010 16:26

hi just a quick note- i had a dd on weds 29th at 13.13 weight-7lb 1 oz- little lily will post longer later

nymphadora · 02/10/2010 16:47

floozie I'm sure you are aware but its v difficult to 'see' yourself IYSWIM but its a few days post birth , your hormones are all over and you have the extra stress of a prem baby and everything will be 100X worse. Get on the phone to a bf counsellor if there isn't one at the hospital and talk yourself out. Its not impossible to carry on feeding her and its fine to mix feed , its even fine to give up if you can't manage. But you need someone to go through things with you. Is dh around for support too or is he with ds?

sophie&belly congrats! I knew someone was in on Weds!

FingonTheValiant · 02/10/2010 16:55

Congrats Sophie and welcome to Lily :o

floozie I was also told to expect the baby to lose weight, I don't think it's a sign that all is heading west! Keep at it if you can bear it! Fantastic news that she is with you now though :o

Tyson86 · 02/10/2010 17:19

Congrats to everyone that has been busy having there babies whilst ive been busy too Grin

I went to my consultant app on weds and complained about my migraines that id had really bad on tuesday. He admitted me to go on a drip for fluids onto the maternity ward and to be induced on thursday.
They kept me in away from ds to give me a jug of water which was annoying and i was meant to be took to the labour ward at 10am thursday to be induced but wasnt till 1pm.
I had my waters broke at 9.20pm in the end by doctor as mw couldnt manage it, went walking round labour ward, managed once round the block, went toilet and didnt dare leave room again. My first stage was 55 mins and second stage 15 mins and third stage was 8 mins but with the injection.I only used gas and air, as time and coping well meant i didnt have the epidural i had been recommended. It was intense and really hurt but was very copable with. Im very proud of myself and relieved its over. I had her at 12.30am and was discharged at 10am. Doctor wanted to keep me in for 24 hours due to last birth but i put my foot down as the consultant had took that off my notes so it shouldnt of been brought up.
I didnt need stitches and feel perfectly normal apart from some strong after pains which are very unpleasant and could do with more gas and air for them Grin
Sorry its so long and badly written :)

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 17:20

Nymph Oooo I didn't even realise Blush, I've been on a 'we love Richard Armitage' thread this week so I've been heavily influenced.

Sophie Congratulations and welcome to little Lily!!

Been out and about today, I bought the little white cardigan and then got home to discover that the little sleepsuit I ordered off of Jojo Maman Be had arrived and I'd been sent the wrong one. I got on the phone to them and they said 'oh it's a misprint on the website, we'll send you the right one'. I'm feeling a tad irritated with them at the moment.

Apart from that LO has been very very busy today and seems to be setting a new world record for how many times he can make me stop and hiss at him whilst in public.
