Congratulations Tyson, you should definitely be proud of that!!

Do you have a name for her yet? :)

FingonTheValiant · 02/10/2010 17:25

Gorgeous photo! I want one :o

FingonTheValiant · 02/10/2010 17:25

"That" being the labour/delivery, not your baby! Sorry!

Elsa123 · 02/10/2010 17:56

Congratulations on the birth of baby Lily Sophie! I was waiting to here from you!

Tyson lovely photo, she looks like Nanook with the swaddling towel!

After a sleep this afternoon, I've managed to clear out the porch which sounds easy, but wasn't at all as it was filled with stuff and still has a concrete floor, one of only 2 rooms in the house like that. Am having a wee break now.

How frustrating Hermya was it the coming home outfit you were coveting?

nymphadora · 02/10/2010 18:24

Congrats tyson :)

tiredfeet · 02/10/2010 19:05

congratulations sophie! I hope all is well

and what a beautiful daughter tyson

floozie I hope you are doing better this afternoon. It soudns like a lot to cope with. I hope you got some better support. Glad you are with Zazie now though

I'm starting to get quite uncomfortable now, don't think there's any room left for the baby to get any bigger, can't imagine another three weeks of this. I'm going to need a lot of chocolate to get through it Grin

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 19:35

Elsa It was!! I'm so peeved, they said they would send me another one out. I'm hoping it'll get here early next week. I was hoping to have the hospital bag fully packed and finished this weekend though and it's put a wrench in my plans.

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 19:46

Oh and a bit of a tip for anyone whose had an achey back or ribs. My midwife said to use heat pads and I bought some of those curaheat pads today that attach to your clothes. I must say they're really good and they're great for when you're out and about. I had one on today whilst I was wandering around town and it really helped with my ribs and they last ages as well.

nymphadora · 02/10/2010 19:56

hermya I thought my bags were done but neither of us have stuff to come home in! Although I only have 2 pairs of trousers that pull up now so I can't pack those yet! Don't think I packed a dressing gown either Blush we (dh) put them in the car this morning as well!

DillyDora · 02/10/2010 20:13

Hi All! Just a quick hello and congrats to sophie tyson and ksal!!! Lovely names all round..welcome lovely babies! Thanks for birth stories too, good for a first timer to hear.

Not been quite myself- went for acupuncture for SPD on Friday at the maternity day unit and thought I'd mention I was feeling rough - swelling worse than ever and a cracking headache. So, they checked me out, bp high, sat me down for a bit, bp still high... took bloods, urine clear, monitored the baby - gave me paracetomol and a sandwich and bp finally went down but I have to go back Monday for a check up. I know it sounds totally daft and many of you have had so much worse but it's shaken me a bit, I'm soooo tired and I have such a heavy work week coming up and I just feel rough as hell (quite sick a lot of the time), I feel like I can't keep going but I have to. Also have my birth centre assessment on Weds and I feel like I'm going to 'fail' that and not be allowed a natural birth because of my bp. Being daft aren't I? I so want to have a natural birth but I am so so knackered all of a sudden, we were on a big family day out today and I could hardly walk, my get up and go has got up and gone.

OK, tell me to buck my ideas up, eh?

Hope you're alright floozie btw, I thought it was normal for babies to lose weight at first too.

sorry for the long post
xx

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 20:32

Dilly Are you feeling rough and sick at the moment, do you have the headache currently as well?

jessebelle · 02/10/2010 20:32

Congrats Tyson, KSal, Sophie&Belly, and anyone else I've missed - seems the babies are coming thick and fast - sooo exciting!

Floozie - you're doing so amazingly well - I had huge problems getting BF going after my ECS as the night staff were insisting I was in no fit state & that they were going to give the baby formula etc etc etc. BFing basically got off to a rubbish start due to the hospital's attitudes while I was in there but I persevered and it worked out in the end (six weeks I think it took - at least!) - so considering all the obstacles you're facing I really think you should be patting yourself on your back and feeling brilliant about how far you HAVE got & don't give up. My friend mixed formula and BFing for various reasons too (twice) and it worked out fine.

Am feeling sorry for myself - both I and DD are suffering horrible colds (including fevers) and I must be bucking the trend on the DP front as we just seem to be getting on worse, not better. Had a huge row yesterday and last night. I feel stressed and upset about the fact he doesn't seem to want to confront the fact that we're about to have another baby and perhaps I would feel better if he actually seemed like he WANTED to get things ready instead of it feeling like I'm nagging him to help me.

Feel bad though because he's doing lots, it's just more the attitude thing - he'll do it, but I need to tell him to do it, he won't come up with suggestions etc.

Argh. Maybe it's just my hormones. He seems to think so. Plus I'm pretty exhausted at mo - and run down with this cold.

Sort of hoping I have one more week of 'no baby' as I think I need one week of winding down and chilling (might even try booking myself a massage or something!) but then I think the baby needs to come - I don't want to wait 10 days over the date this time!

AbFabT · 02/10/2010 20:34

sophie, congratulations on your daughter Lily.

Tyson, congratulations on your daughter! Lovely photo! :)

xx

DillyDora · 02/10/2010 20:37

Hermya just a bit sicky now, don't want to eat (though I ate a sensible lunch and I've had a nap) and a bit rubbish generally, like you do when you're coming down with something. O and my bump feels suddenly so massive and heavy, it really quite hurts.

Jessebelle bet part of the reason you're rowing is cos you've got viruses - they can make you feel very down indeed. Hope things improve.

Hermya321 · 02/10/2010 20:47

Dilly I am sorry you're feeling so rough, if you start to get a headache again it might be worth giving the midwife a ring again. When are you finishing work? Or are you SE, I forget. I had to finish earlier due to feeling ill, but I have to say it was the best thing I've done so far. I feel so much better for it.

priscillaqueenofthesuburbs · 02/10/2010 22:27

Hi, It's my first post although I've been lurking for many months. Am 38 wks today with no.3 and after reading JesseBelles post about DH just felt like I wanted to add I am in exactly the same boat with my other half and feel really fed up with having to ask for help all the time instead of him offering.
Having said that am really excited for this baby to come, just hope I don't end up giving him a piece of my mind when in full swing of labour and possibly slinging a plate at his head to make myself feel better.

Elsa123 · 03/10/2010 02:41

Morning all- can't sleep as I have an appalling sore throat and face ache. I think I am coming down with a cold, which considering how close I am to the due date has really cheesed me off, so Jessebelle I know how you feel. I'm downstairs with a cup of mint tea and some loo roll.

Jessebelle and Priscilla (Welcome btw Smile) thats pants that your DHs are acting that way. It seems that they're reacting to your hormones which is not helpful! I suppose its normal for DHs/DPs to go a bit funny themselves due to the impending change in lifestyle but its hard to be empathetic!!

Sorry you're feeling so pants Dilly, look after yourself...she says, feeling pants herself....

Elsa123 · 03/10/2010 03:49

Ooh Floozie I meant to post this earlier but forgot. It must be very frustrating and upsetting that your mws/carers are suggesting/making you top up feeding Zazie with formula. I'm sure you know its normal for babies to lose weight initially, esp as meconium is meant to weigh a lot! Apparently though mws don't want babies to lose more than 10% of their body weight in the first 5 days and the smaller the baby, the bigger deal that 10% is iyswim. Hard I know and I haven't had my bundle of joy yet, but try to focus on the fact that you're still feeding her yourself and the formula top up is an essential way to keep her weight up and you don't have to stick with it when you get home. The mws just want to ensure a healthy baby- don't beat yourself up about it.

Zazie is such a cool name btw- I keep thinking about it Grin!!

SamanthaB123 · 03/10/2010 05:39

Morning Grin,

Sorry I've been missing for so long. Finishing off at work was really time consuming and tiring and I just didn't have it in me to post. I mainly read the thread at 4am when wide awake and lying in bed!

I can't believe we've had so many babies already! Congratulations to everyone who is snuggled up with their babies right now, how fab! The names that you have all chosen are lovely too. I am quite envious and can't wait to have my own baby now.

All well here, usual complaints as everyone else; awake half the night, contractions that come to nothing after hours, feeling sick half the time and starving the other half, quiet baby and checks at hospital (but nothing to worry about), that sort of thing.

I'll be around more now I'm on maternity leave, who's next to have their baby???

37+4 weeks

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 03/10/2010 06:08

BionicEar · 03/10/2010 08:18

Well firstly huge congratulations to Sophie Tyson and Ksal who have all produced since I last checked in on here! Hpe you guys are enjoying the cuddles with your little ones, rather than them kicking and poking you where it hurts! Smile

Am doing alright at moment about from getting very tight stomach pains - maybe braxcton hicks?! Not due til 28 Oct but do wonder if this one will put in an early appearance. Of course now I've written that - baby will be late! Grin

Been busy this week sorting out spare room and washing baby things, which I fling out onto the line whenever there's a bit of sun outside. At moment am sat next to big washing rack full of drying reusable nappies and muslin sheets. My friends who were over yesterday couldn't believe how many nappies and sheets I had for one small person - but I know they will get used, judging by experience with DD! Smile

Got MW appointment tomorrow and they plan to jab me to take some bloods to check my iron level, as it's been a little low, so they want to see if the iron tablets have kicked in yet or not. Will have to take DD out of school a wee bit earlier, as have been unable to find someone to pick her up from school at time required. I'm sure DD will ask lots of questions and enjoy seeing a needle being stuck in me! Grin

Decided to have a chat with DH last night about my birth plan and other things. He got a little huffy, as felt I was saying he was a bit useless last time in terms of support. He did stop being huffy eventully when he allowed me to explain what I was anxcious about and what I needed him to do should I get a difficult MW, like I did at the end with DD. Men eh?!

Have awoken early today so no doubt will feel shattered in a couple of hours, particularly as we're meant to be helping out with goddaughter's party this arrvo. Oh well tis life!

Hope you all have a good day and that maybe just maybe we might have some more arrivals today?!! Smile

nymphadora · 03/10/2010 08:19

Hi priscilla welcome to the mad house!

SamB can't believe you made it this far after the problems you had earlier on. Can't believe you worked that long either!!!

seashells think you are first over! But on the other hand it can't be far off now

dilly if you keep feeling dodgy get checked out. Too much to risk now

37+4 4 days to go!

DillyDora · 03/10/2010 10:26

Morning all, feeling better, had a big fat cry last night and then slept and although my head still aches I wonder if it's just a kind of sinus thing. Tobes is back to moving around as vigorously as before which makes me Smile and I will rest today. Back to hospital tomorrow for check up.... Thanks for the good wishes.

Sorry about the useless DHs, even mine managed to be a bit rubbish this w/e (leaving me to babysit his children while he went to a gig Friday night after I had spent most of the day being monitored in hospital for e.g. - not cool at all). Here's hoping they all buck up their ideas!

Sorry to those feeling rubbish - it ain't fair!

Hi priscilla! Sorry you've gone over seashells!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 03/10/2010 11:07

Morning all. 36+1 today and feeling pissed off and ungrateful. DS1 and 2 still driving me mad. And DH needing a few kicks up the bum too.

Went to doc/midwife this morning. Doc reckons she's bigger than I thought and is 2.8kg. Still head down and LOA. Had strep B swab (lovely) and bloods done too and felt a bit woozy when I looked at the syringe in my arm.

Dilly, the only bucking up you need to do is to remember to look after yourself and rest. Having a baby is a big deal.

OP posts:
loobyboo · 03/10/2010 11:42

Floozie: I'm having the same problem with my little man he was weighed day 3 and had lost 8% of birth weight 6lbs 4 down to 5lbs 12 then weighed day 5 and had lost another 2oz, 10% in all.

Mws plan of action has been once he has finished I have to express the rest of the breast of which contains the fatty bit of the milk as he wasn't getting this and we spoon feed him that to top him up.

He was weighed again yesterday and had gone up to 6lbs I was so worried that after all our hard work he wouldn't have put on any it was a great relief.
The mws knew I didn't want to go on to btls, even though that would have been the easy option and have been very supported with everything.

another thing they said was that as they are small babies they tend to run out of energy when feeding and then end up not taken the full breast.

I hope this helps a little bit.
