hi all, its very quiet on here. just marking my place. not well. started yesterday and doesnt seem to be getting any better. luckily upto now M seems ok, jus the cold and cough hes had for over 4 weeks now.
when is all this illness going to stop for everyone.
we had a covering of snow here the past 3 days. but all gone now.

hope everyone is well.

essenceofSES · 08/12/2010 07:43

Morning all!

Wednesday so day off and hopefully this week we will actually make it to Jo Jingles after the snow last week and me locking myself out the week before!

MMM - hope you're feeling better this morning?

tink - great that you've had your mum to stay. She always sounds the helpful type :) Has she gone back home now?
Did you get your boiler sorted?

Gruff - hope GC is doing much better now. Really pleased that your mum gets the treatment - do you know when it will start?

Cant - I wouldn't be keen on that cupboard either with the spiders webs! We have an outside cupboard a bit like that! How was the works Christmas do?

Giraffe - hello! How's things with you?

In the end, I didn't go to DH's Christmas do. The snow was still knee deep which I didn't think was very condusive (sp?) to heels and cocktail dress nevermind driving! DH went and booked into the hotel for the night so he could enjoy a few drinks. What was nice was that he ended up going to pick up my cousin (who was going to babysit) anyway so I had an evening at home with her. we'd not caught up properly in about 3 months so that was great :)

Saturday we then had a pub lunch with my parents and my older brother and SIL(who were down from Cumbria). We won't see them over Christmas so good to catch up. Thank goodness for DH's 4x4 as we probably wouldn't have got there otherwise! Only thing was that I then got food poisoning in the early hours of Sunday morning - really nasty.

Sunday evening I had some really bad news from a friend :( Her marriage of 18mo has broken up for in awful circumstances that had me in tears - such a shock and so horrendous :( It is all a complete mess. She has 3 DC, the eldest of which is my godson. I just want to do something to make it all right for them :(

Finally, I'm nearing the end of 2ww. In fact I'm CD31 today. I've not tested once yet as I really don't think this month is likely. Temp still above coverline but not triphasic and no other symptoms. Should get AF within the next 2-3 days.

Sorry - that was a mega post! I hate the fact that time runs away and I end up doing almost a weekly mega catch up instead of a regular daily chat IYKWIM!

How's everyone else? Diege, Nat, Sorky, Rugby and any other lurkers?

tinkisbrrrrr · 08/12/2010 09:33

hi mm
hi ses - boiler will be sorted in jan
yes my mum went @ 5pm yest

having a quiet day here today Grin

Starshinetiger · 08/12/2010 21:24

Hi All - am lurking regularly on my phone, but rarely getting chance to post.

Gruff - really glad to hear your Mum is going to get the treatment. Sorry to hear that GC was so poorly, hope the abs have done their work and he is on the mend.

Ses - boo to getting locked out and then snowed in (can't believe Surrey has been hit so bad and we've barely had anything here in Berkshire - real contrast to January when we were snowed in). Boo also to food poisoning - is awful, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (I've had it several times - puny constitution on my part I think), hope it passed quickly. Yay for nice evening with you cousin and being on 2www - I'll say no more Grin

MMM - sorry for poorlies there too. Hope you're feeling better.

Can't - hope no more bleeding or scariness and that you had a good time at DH's work do.

Tink - nice to have your Mum over I bet. Am envious of you being so organised for Christmas.

We had our "Let's kickstart Christmas" open house drinks on Sat - was lovely to catch up with friends and my Mum came over early and had some really good quality time with the DC, which was really good to see. Unfortunately, one friend bought her DDs on the grounds that they were "not contagious any more" with chicken pox. Cue tonight 3 suspicious red spots on DD - 1 each on tummy, shoulder and back of knee. She's been a bit out of sorts last couple of days and as I've had a sore throat, thought maybe she had a bit of a bug... we shall see what hthe morning brings. I know they're going to catch it at some point, but would have been nice to try and plan them catching it, a) when I've given up work next summer (still the current plan) and b) when it's not freezing cold winter, so they have to be all rugged up. Ah well, may prove to be nothing yet...

Right - was due to be working tonight, but DH only just fixed the internet and am beyond getting into it now, so will just go in early tomorrow (in knowledge I will probably have to come home at lunchtime so DH can go to work, if this does prove to be the pox). Best get on with some ironing now instead.

GruffaloSoldier · 08/12/2010 21:35

Evening all,

It has been quiet on the wagon hasn't it! Where is everyone?

Yes GC is much better thank goodness. The antibiotics worked really quick and he was back at nursery today. I did only work 2 hours though. We had a lovely afternoon with our NCT ladies and babies today too. Which Zach really enjoyed.

GC is being very funny at the moment. Says so much and understands so much I can't believe it. He calls me "Mum" now too (at last!) which I find hilarious. I try and get him to call me "Mummy" But no, Mum it is :)

Thanks for asking about my Mum. We heard yesterday that she will be starting her treatment the Wednesday before Christmas. It is a day a week which means that we get to spend Christmas without her having to go anywhere so that is good.

I'm really struggling physically with this pregnancy already :( I feel huge. Really struggle to get up the stairs (3 flights) particularly when GC decides he doesn't want to.

Im already having difficulty putting boots/shoes on. At work I struggle as a lot of it is floor work. Getting up and down is a nightmare. So I made the decision last week that from January I will cut down to two sessions (6 hrs total) a week and then do overtime when I am needed. From end of February (when I am 30 weeks) I will finish working sessions completely and just go in as and when I can to oversee things (when DH is at home). I am worried that if I am struggling now, what am I going to be like in Jan/Feb!

Anyway I finish next week for Christmas and I cannot wait! 2 weeks off - I need it!

Ses - evening with cousin sounds good!

Hi Gyo, Tink, MMM, Cant - any other lurkers.

PS. Sorry for me post!

GruffaloSoldier · 09/12/2010 10:15

Sorry Star, I only just realised I crossed posts with you last night!

I hope DD does not have pox :( Fingers crossed.

Open house drinks sounds nice.

Good to see you on here :)

maxxymoosmummy · 09/12/2010 17:10

hi all, still not fully better, it all gets to me more around this time yesterday and today its the same :( ... its awful and think DS started with it last night, but hes got some ABs so hopefully will be on the mend soon. thinking it might be a mild course of the flu :s ...

STAR hope its not the pox, althought dont you have the symptoms and infection in you for 2 weeks before the spots come out? could be wrong though.

SES did you manage to make it to jo jingles? hope so. and hope the food poisoning went as quick as it came,. musnt be nice.

GRUFF glad GC is better now, M also calls me mum at times, just deoends what mood hes in haha. soo cute.

hi any one else i have missed, TINK, DIEGE, GYo, ...

essenceofSES · 09/12/2010 21:29

Hello!

MMM - sorry you and M are still unwell. Hope M's ABs kick in and you are both feeling better quickly

Star - great to hear from you. How was C this morning? Hope it's not CP?
Pre-Christmas drinks sounds good (except for possible CP!) I'm just not feeling organised enough this year. In fact, I can't even find my address book at the moment to write Christmas cards Blush

Gruff - Glad GC is better. I can only imagine how hard it must be to get GC up 3 flights of steps when pg. I guess, just accept it will take time and be a bit of a struggle and rejoice when it doesn't! Seriously though, hope your struggles don't get too much worse too quickly.

tink - Jan sounds a long time to wait for the boiler! Hope you've got some heating and hot water in the meantime?

As for me, AF arrived this afternoon. I really didn't think this was my month but still upset me. Had a little pathetic cry on my drive home from work. Not helped by the fact that my pg NCT friend starts her ML for DC2 tomorrow and I very unfairly feel v Envy We're seeing them for an NCT Christmas party on Sunday so I need to pull myself together!

Then drive home from work was rubbish as the A27 was closed and there was no way I could get to nursery in time. DH wasn't near enough either so I phoned my mum to see if she could go. She did but only with a lot of sighing and huffing and puffing. I know she was doing us a favour but it really made me feel like not bothering to ask again!

tinkisbrrrrr · 09/12/2010 22:15

Oh no hope not cp!
Hi gruff sorry pregnancy hard already

Diege · 10/12/2010 14:30

Hello! Sorry for going awol - work has been mad with the run up to end of term - only 2 weeks left before we finish (technically xmas eve, but will take leave to cover school hols). Will catch up now - love to all x

cantmummyhaveabreak · 10/12/2010 16:49

afternoon- I've been battling some kind of cough/cold/flu all week... couldn't even walk from monday until yesterday i was so ill with it!! DC's have all had it passed between them too over the last couple of weeks- somehow i got it loads worse or something different then DD2 & DS got that dose back off me so not been nice at all!!

Can barely do much still- have just ordered pizza for tea too- kids all excited so think they're getting better.

Got a busy weekend ahead- going to wolverhampton to see DH's family for xmas/DS's birthday on sunday- so only got tomorrow left to get myself into some sort of state where i can actually see people.

AND- got new this week that i've got a place on the school board of governors!! Wuhhoo!! I feel so superior!! haha! not that I have a clue what it's gonna involve- i just wanted some kind of input into the school etc, and will enjoy giving something back aswell as getting some kind of benefit for myself i'm sure!! Going to start in the new role after xmas so it'll be an exciting time for me!! :) How sad!!?? haha!!

Right best dash- head is killing being on here but felt so bad not getting on for so long needed to get on!!

tinkisbrrrrr · 10/12/2010 16:50

hi diege and cant Grin
cant great news

Diege · 11/12/2010 09:36

Congrats CANT! I'm sure you're be great, and good to be able to have an input. DD3 was talking about sitting on the wall in Blackpool eating the picnic this morning which made me think we must try and arrange to meet again soon when you're feeling better x I will bring along the dds letters too!
Hi TINKS! I am having major internet shopping panics. I have ordered a lot from The Entertainer toy shop and nothing seems to be shifting out of the factory at present..I think I'll give them till Friday (will have been 2 wks then from order) and then try and get them elsewhere...
SES sorry about af Sad If it's any consolation mine is on its way too (big temp drop)so maybe we can be cycle buddies this month? Oh and your mum sounds the spit of mine - I've stopped asking as I start cringing at the lame excuses I get back!
Right, am going to get the last of my internet stuff ordered now...love to all x

tinkisbrrrrr · 11/12/2010 14:36

hi diege - hope u get bits i have only ordered from amazon just waiting for some ylvanian animals to arrive for dd1 and torahces for dh
bought the rest of xmas pressies in town this monring an m&s gift card for my mum and a hair trimmer set for my dad
just need to order an amazon voucher for my bro

Diege · 11/12/2010 15:44

Hi TINKS - well I buckled and have bought the delayed internet items from town this morning. Will have to wait for the former to arive and then get refund. The thought of them not arriving in time was unbearable, though not great to have to pay out twice, albeit in the short term. Awaiting an order now from Yellowmoon, Amazon and watchut...
Sounds like you're very organised!

essenceofSES · 11/12/2010 20:57

Hello all!

Good to hear from you Diege :) Hope work starts to calm down a bit for you now.
Sorry it looks like AF is on it's way for you too but yes, we can be cycle buddies and keep each other positive maybe for next month.

Cant - well done you! Great thing to do to support the school and give something back :)
Hope you're continuing to feel better too.

tink - Can you come and organise my Christmas shopping for me? You sound like you're sorted and I'm not...at all...

I've been feeling really down the last couple of days. Kind of angry at the world and I hate it. Not sure if it's just arrival of AF and the hormones playing up together with the disappointment but I feel I just need to step off the rollercoaster of life for a couple of days. So much to do and so little time.
Tomorrow we're having an NCT Christmas get together and I really don't feel like going but I'm sure O will have a great time and I'll enjoy it once I'm there. Maybe an early night will help!

Anyway, I'm fine really and just rambling now! Hello to Giraffe, Gruff, Nat, Sorky, Rugby and anyone else lurking!
Hope you're all having good weekends!

Diege · 11/12/2010 21:17

Hi SES, hope you're ok. It does sound like you're feeling a little overwhelmed by things from what you write. HOld on in there - things will feel better after a good sleep, af peters off, and you relax with friends at the NCT,I promise xx

essenceofSES · 11/12/2010 21:25

Thanks Diege :)

Rugbylovingmum · 11/12/2010 22:49

Hi all, sorry I've ben AWOL recently but things have just been manic. I was away at a conference in Liverpool for 4 days last week which was good but very intense. It wasn't great timing as Caitlin was ill again. Poor baby, she has been ill on and off for at least a month Sad. This time it seems to be a combination of teething (her gums are a mess and I think at least 4 or 5 teeth have just broken through or are on their way) and a rotten cold. She can't sleep properly as she is coughing constantly and her nose is blocked plus her whole mouth is very sore and I think it hurts when her jaw touches the mattress so she wakes up everytime she rolls over. She isn't eating anything except cold yogurt and some milk and she is very clingy during the day and is crying all the time. She keeps coming over for hugs but she forgets and pushes her face against me then screams when it hurts her mouth Sad. I feel so sorry for her. We are dosing her with calpol, calprofen and tixylix and using olbas oil and vicks at night plus raising one end of her cot but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd be grateful. She is just exhausted and she keeps pointing to food but then she can't eat it. I hope she feels better soon, poor little poppet.

Tink - I am impressed and a bit Envy at how organised you are. Would you like to finish off my xmas shopping for me Wink. I'm totally stuck for DP, no idea what to get him this year.

Ses - sorry you are feeling down. This is such an emotional time of year. Everyone is tired and a bit stressed and I think that everything seems harder to deal with. Can you get DH to look after O for an afternoon and just take some time to relax?

Diege - how annoying about the deliveries. I would have ordered them from another supplier too but what a pain!

Congrats Cant - it's a fantastic job to do. My mum's school has a great set of govs and they make such a difference.

I've totally forgotten everything else I was going to post Blush. I must try to post a bit more regularly instead of just lurking.

tinkisbrrrrr · 12/12/2010 09:11

morning -

diege - glad u got pressies sorted Xmas Grin

ses - sorry u r feeling overwhemled enjoy nct meet up

rugby we told each other what to get

GiraffeYoga · 12/12/2010 20:05

Hi everyone
sorry for also being AWOL. I've been reading but not getting to post much.

Ses- sorry for feeling Sad Did you get to the NCT do? How was it seeing the friend who's started Maternity leave?

That evening with the road closed sounds a nightmare, glad your mum could help but the huffing etc must have been really hard. Its not like you ask her very often (from what you say here).

Diege- sounds like a good idea buying presents rather than waiting. I've done most of my shopping online too. Cant face the shops - there isnt enough time or energy for that!

Cant- sorry for being poorly, sounds awful.

Rugby- great to see you here but sorry for C being poorly. Sound rotten poor little lamb. Hope she improves soon

Star- how is the CP threat- agree with the others the drinks party sounds great!

Hi Tink and MMM and all the other lurkers.

I'd better go, got a few emails to do for work

:)

essenceofSES · 12/12/2010 21:22

Hello!

Sorry for letting off steam on here yesterday. Poor DH bore the brunt of things this morning (although to be fair he didn't help as he was still having a lie in at 9.30 whilst I'd been up with O). He listened to how I was feeling though and didn't tell me I was being pathetic (as I thought he would!) and gave me a lovely cuddle to help.

We did go to the NCT do and it was lovely. I didn't really feel too Envy when I saw my pg friend (as she's so lovely!) and no one else had any pg announcements! One of the others did ask me if we I wanted DC#2 and I just replied saying that I'd love to but it didn't happen quickly or easily for us last time so we'll wait and see.

As for my mum, when I last spoke to her, she was moaning that Dad had complained the other evening when she went to get O for me as he wanted his tea. I told her that it wouldn't be a problem in future as a friend at nursery has offered to pick O up in an emergency as she has a spare car seat. Mum then responded "Oh no but I want to!"
It's just not worth the hassle!!

Oh sorry, I'm going on again with another me post. I'll stop now!

Rugby - DH and I also told eachother what we wanted!
Hope C is feeling better. That sounds awful with her gums being so painful. The only other thing I've used which seems to work is Ashton&Parsons teething powders.

Giraffe - I'm also doing some work emails tonight and prep for a conference call tomorrow. Hope you get to enjoy some of your evening and it doesn't take too long.

Diege - has your temp stayed low? When are you due?

Tink - have you managed to wrap all your presents yet?!

Hello everyone else! Here's to a good week ahead for everyone :)

GruffaloSoldier · 13/12/2010 13:59

Hi all

We had our 20 week scan today and we are having another little boy! :) We would have been thrilled either way but think it's really nice that GC will have a little brother I think. Much cheaper as well as we have all the clothes and the option for room sharing is there! :)

We are telling close family and friends but not announcing it on FB or telling lots of people because there are some people in our families who want a surprise!LOL!

Gyo - Thanks yes my mum is much more upbeat now which is great. GC is usually fine with the stairs but on the occasion that I am in a rush or when he was ill the other week, it's just too hard for me to carry him. I struggle just walking up myself :(

Ses - sorry you have been feeling down but glad you enjoyed your NCT meet up and things weren't too hard.

Rugby - sorry that C has been feeling so poorly. My only other advice for a cold (well a cough) is a damp towel or flannel on the radiator overnight as it keeps the air moist which helps their breathing. Oh and run the hot shower and then take them in the room straight after so they inhale the steam.

Diege - that is really annoying about the shopping but glad you manage to find them elsewhere.

Tink - all sounds v.organised, good work!

Cant - congrats on being a governor, but sorry for poorlies.

I have a couple of presentsleft to get but me and DH have huge families so I have done well on shopping front, but I did start back in October!:)
