Snowing again here now and settling over the little pathway I cleared earlier Angry

Giraffe - glad you managed to wfh.

Sorky - not suprised you and the chickens are miserable. How do the chickens cope with snow?

tink - have you got some snow now?

I cooked DH and I a lovely roast earlier. Really enjoyed it :)
I'm now watching The Apprentice.

Will have to stay home tomorrow so need to phone and cancel a couple of meetings in the morning. I hate it as I feel that I'm being pathetic by not attempting to get in. I still don't have my car back though so not much option!

tinkisbrrrrr · 02/12/2010 09:55

GruffaloSoldier · 02/12/2010 09:56

Hi Ses

Thanks for your thoughts on my mum. We don't really know much more now despite the apt yesterday. She is going to have some more tests, but there is a high chance she won't be able to get onto the trials due to a medical prob she had a while ago :(

more snow here :) and GC still ill :(

sorky · 02/12/2010 10:06

Chickens do NOT like snow.

Sainsburys are still delivering my shop today though, woohoo!

More snow overnight, we have had about 1.5 feet overall since it started last week.

It melts a bit then we get more. I wonder how long it will last?

GruffaloSoldier · 02/12/2010 10:13

Hi Sorky,

Hooray for Sainsburys!

My Mum is in Scotland and up to day before yest has had 3 ft! (I think thats right) I wonder how much she has had now??

My DH is cycling to work this afternoon. He did last year when we had A LOT! Took him a few hours though!Last night he said cycling was very slippy and kept losing the bike from under him, just sliding out, both wheels!

I won't be going out in it as GC really not well still. I can't believe how long he has had this for!GRrr!

tinkisbrrrrr · 02/12/2010 14:03

hi gruff and sorky Grin

gruff poor gc !!

i need food shopping dh got some before he went off to work
have decided that he will drop me there
roads not too bad on main ones
our road is icy and tesco car park will probably be icy 2
figured that tom it would prob be even more dangerous as will get very icy overnite!!
better to go and get shopping now rather then leave too long

tinkisbrrrrr · 02/12/2010 14:04

i hate driving the car on ice have had accidents before!!!!!!!!!!!

maxxymoosmummy · 02/12/2010 20:09

hi all, well theres no snow here still, had little bits but nothing to stick or cover the ground jus the horible cold brrrr.

been out shopping today and it was way too cold. staying in tomoro.

essenceofSES · 02/12/2010 20:16

Hello!

MMM - you can have some of the snow here! I took my wooden spoon to the door earlier to test the depth and it was deeper than the length of the spoon!

Meant to be DH's christmas do up in London tomorrow. Don't think our babysitter would get here. DH has given 2 options - either he goes on his own straight from work as there's not nearly so much snow Heathrow way, or he will go and get babysitter in his 4x4 and we both go but will probably have to drive.
I don't really like either option!

Hope everyone else is doing ok and surviving the cold!

GiraffeYoga · 02/12/2010 21:21

Hi

MMM you can have some of ours too! we've got loads spare. Its a PITA!

Ses- doesnt sound like a great set of choices. I'd be tempted by 2nd choice of getting the babysitter. A nice night out together for a do sounds great! Even if you have to drive (or DH does!)

Better go, am working now to make up for being off today with the SG and it will be the same again tomorrow I think - everything is so snowy and there is thick ice under that.

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2010 10:17

Morning all

Bad night here! GC woke up last night with temp of 39.9. It took me an hour to get it down to 39.3 and then I put him back to bed. Then he woke at 6am with a temp of 40 degrees. Took another hour to get it down to 39.4 and then I put him back to bed. He woke at 8.20am with it donw to 37.4, phewee! He is so grizzly this morning though! I think I will be putting him back to bed shortly. The dr said that it would peak though, nice to have a dr knowing what he is talking about! It was awful cause I was on my own as DH was away :(

I will hopefully find out what is happening with my Mum to day. I feel sick. I had a good cry last night though and I think it helped.

Hi Tink - glad that you got Tesco shop done. We did a bit stock up on Monday before the snow came. DH walked in to town yest ( 5 min walk) to get more milk and some for the freezer so we are sorted :)

GYo - It does sound like a pain having to catch up with work at night but I would def not travel in this weather either! I was listening to local radio this morning and all the accidents that had happened are very scary!

Ses - not sure about your dilemma either. If it was me I would just send DH on his own, but I am a scaredy cat :)

Right I need to get Zach's nappy changed and try and convince him he needs a nap!

tinkisbrrrrr · 03/12/2010 11:31

morning Grin
gruff poor gc!! glad temp is going down and glad u have food

dd1 has gone back to school only just now in late

maxxymoosmummy · 03/12/2010 16:34

GRUFF hope GC is still on the up, sorry for bad night.
TINK hello hope your all ok?

hi everyone else, hope your not too cold. brrrr.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 03/12/2010 18:00

Gruff- hope you've had some good news on your mum... and sorry for poorly GC- DD1 isn't too well, got a cough and a runny nose that seems to be getting on top of her- not been herself since monday really- but on the face of it she's well enough to be going to school as it's in the evening when it gets to her most.

It's been snowing a little today- had about an inch so far... supposed to snow through the night too... hoping for not too much more as gotta get the DC's to mums on the bus tomorrow as it's DH's work xmas party tomorrow evening- and him being the boss we can't not go... going for a meal at a mexican restaurant- looking forward to it!! Have had a menu for the last week tho and no clue what i'm gonna order- i'm so fussy between nausea still and cravings etc- my taste goes way too odd while pregnant- just hope i can have something that makes the most of the different menu or i'll most likely end up on pizza or something plain and normal.... Hmm

Also have the PITA of a leaky tank in the boiler cupboard :( DH changed the ballcock that was leaking, done a good job, then we noticed a leak from the top tank so the top one needs a new ballcock too- can't do it till tues now between being away tonight with work, works party tomorrow almost straight after he's back and then working sun & mon and not able to get the part Angry so have to cope on showers and boiling kettles to stop the leak!! I'd have a go myself (as i'm not a bad hand at DIY myself) but i'm scared of the cupboard as there's some spider webs etc... i can peek in but thats as far as it goes!!

Right best go and start sorting the kids stuff out ready for staying out tomorrow and then it's early nights all round i think- can't be doing with an evening on the sofa alone!! Would rather sleep!! :)

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2010 20:55

Hi all

Well GC's temp went up to 40 degrees. I called doc they told me to bring him in (they wouldn't come out - grr!) I waited til DH got home and still in his cycling gear we trudged up to the docs in the dark and freezing cold, pushing pushchair through snow and slipping all over the place and got to the docs:

He has ear infection in both ears and a throat infection! Poor baby! Got antibiotics now and picked up really quick after first dose. Phew!

Also found out this evening that my mum should be accepted on to the treatment for her secondary cancer as the issues she had 30 years ago don't seem to have interfered so that is the best news of the day :) :)

Hi Cant - hope your boiler gets fixed soon. Enjoy the work do tomorrow, hope the weather holds off!

Hi MMM, Ses, Gyo, Tink anyone else I've missed!

tinkisbrrrrr · 03/12/2010 21:28

Hi mm yep all gd here
Hi can't hope u don't get much more snow
Shame about leaks
We hv problems with our heating and boiler at month
Hi gruff glad u hv antibiotics

cantmummyhaveabreak · 04/12/2010 09:28

gruff- thats great news about your mum- and also good news about GC and AB's hope they help him now!! :)

Just getting ready to go out now... was odd having the bed to myself, but i slept straight thru from about 9pm till 6.30am so it must have been good!! :)

Had no snow overnight luckily- rain instead, so some of the snow has half melted then turned to thick ice, but we only have to cross the road for the bus and mums is round the corner from the stop her end so should be ok...

tinkisbrrrrr · 04/12/2010 21:20
