Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

In winter you'd generally have one of those under a babygrow -- either vest-style, short sleeves or long sleeves depending on the temperature. As it gets warmer (or if it's hot in your house) you'd move to a babygrow on its own or a vest on its own.

well, I'm glad I wasn't wondering something that was truly obvious then eaurouge! Sorted, once I get baby bits I'll get some vests too. Any other item of baby attire that I will need to get that might not realise? Do you need to buy baby socks?! Or gloves??

Welcome Highlandlass! Scratch mittens can be quite useful angels. We used to call ds Edward scissorhands as he was always scratching himself. Some people swear by putting socks on the hands as they can often get the mittens off somehow.

You won't need socks if you're putting them in footed babygrows; you will if you're putting them in footless. Actual gloves, probably not (sleeves tend to be quite long, or have fold-over cuffs to cover hands) but you might find scratch mitts useful (although you can just put socks on their hands if it comes to it).

I never could get those little scratch mitts to stay on, DD had a couple of baby grows with fold-over sleeves but scratching was never really an issue with her.

But socks are somehow unbelievably cute though prof.

Hope everyone is well. I'm suffering from a nasty cold as is DH. I actually have food envy for his Lemsip as the breathing steam and odd paracetemol just isn't doing the trick! Any top tips?

Can you put a soluble paracetemol in a mug of hot water with some lemon juice and honey? That's pretty much the same as lemsip.

Great idea- I'll give it a try!

Had my 20 week scan this afternoon, all brillant. Was really nervous, I haven't had any screening tests or nuchal fold tests so was very anxious. Still no word on boy or girl, the baby kept its knees right up to its chest.

It took ages for the sonographer to be able to check all the heart chambers and blood vessels as he/she kept curling up into a ball but according to sonographer was a very chilled out baby!!

Told the two girls this afternoon, they were very non-plussed!!!! Only name suggestion we had was Minnie Mouse!! Well off to peruse the Chinese takeaway menu

Is it too late to join you all on here? I was going to wait for my second scan but have caved in early and here I am. I am a well behaved and house trained (mostly although this pregnancy is testing that! ) first timer and my EDD is 10/2/11.

I was on the Jan ante natal thread initially as got my dates wrong but haven't been on there for months now.

Good to see lots of healthy scan results coming through, mine is next Tues when I'll be 22 weeks and I'm already nervous.

Wigglesrock, it sounds like your baby is wanting to give you a surprise! Did you want to know? Am I correct in remembering that it is your hospital that won't tell you, or is it someone else?

Had lots of relaxing time today as DD has had a full day at pre-school. She loves it so much! She's got a new little best friend who's a boy and apparently they're always kissing, hugging and holding hands! So cute, although I've told her that there's to be no boyfriends until she's 25!

Angels I'm glad you got through your first lesson Ok but I hope that you're taking it easy .

Wandering yes it is my arsey hospital that has a no disclosure on sex policy but the sonographer was really decent about it, said it was the baby's position that made it hard to tell and she was right. I will probably have another late scan due to fibroid so I'm hoping I can see.

I would like to know, I don't care either way although I always get the feeling that when they can't tell you it's usually a girl!! As someone else on MN said by the time labour's over they could tell you it's a cat and you wouldn't care!!

DD1 has always had boy best friends, very popular 5 year old!!!

I'm glad your first lesson went well, Angels I'm sure they were all pleased to see you back. I hope working takes your mind off of feeling pants.

Congratulations on your scan, wiggles. Did you want to know sex, or will you just accept the suprise?

Glad your skin is clearing W.Sheep, that must have been horrible.

I'm just munching what feels like my last supper, a bowl of cereals and having a big drink, all before 10pm!

How do you all find the long sleeved vests? Am I being a meanie just buying short sleeves? I just find its impossible to get those teeny tiny arms to bend the way thats needed with those thin long sleeves. I'm getting a few pairs of socks and tights to go underneath the sleep suits when out, as it gets really cold here. Most babies actually wear wool vests, but I cannot stand the feel, so will avoid unless totally needed.

Are there any scans tomorrow? Good luck if there are! :)
