Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

oh deliaskis v jealous of austria - I love it there - been there a couple of times and it's beautiful - which part are you going to? (don't worry, I won't go there and hunt you down, lol, just interested if it's same places as us - we went to salzburg/alpbach/mittersill type areas. The fresh mountain air and amazing views are just the ticket to relaxation Grin

Hope all those heading away this weekend have a great time, (said through gritted teeth)Envy. My Mil finished a lovely baby blanket I'd asked her to knit for me and its so gorgeous. She knitted ones for dds when they were born and they still use them for cuddles, teddy blankets etc. It's the first baby thing I have so am gazing at it every (few hours) couple of days!!

Angels Glad your school vist went well, I'm really lucky most of my scans etc have been scheduled for days when I don't work, but have had midwife appt on work days. It's really hard to reschedule appts at my GP surgery thanks to the lovely woman!! that runs the desk. Don't worry about taking them if there's nothing else you can do.

zerominuszero · 24/09/2010 18:20

I see what you mean but he says he sometimes get asked 'are you planning any holiday we should know about' but I guess as having a baby isn't exactly a holiday he should keep quiet.

morning ladies :)

I've got thrush - AGAIN! Doh, this is about the 5th time since getting pg Confused. Will have to send DH out again to get canestan as now I have a bit of a tummy they might not sell it to me (I'm sure I heard it's illegal for chemists to sell it to pg ladies).

Anyway, whilst rubbing the cream on me last night I noticed, ahem, my ladybits are all swollen. They don't hurt (apart from general thrush itchiness) and I never normally get swelling like this when I get thrush (but it definately feels like thrush - I've had it many a times before). I know swollen area there is common in pg from blood flow etc, but I thought this was in late pg, not so early on. For all I know it could ahve been like this for some time I just hadn't noticed until I rubbed the cream on the area. Anyone else have this or know if it's usual at this stage? Maybe it's just another suprise pg complaint to put up with! DH is now giving up all hope of th supposed increase in libido and potential for lots of action while pg!! Blush

I havent checked mine angels was going to atempt some "personal grooming" later so i will try and have a check.Dont recall it from last time tho.I am getting repeated uti's and i suspect i have a bit of thrush too which is a vicious circle. I have the promised libido thing but am so bloody fat iam trying to leave dh to make the first move as i cant imagine he finds me remotely attractive :(
Its my bum, its kind of square.I also am getting more and more spd pain twas terrible last night but had been cycling a lot does anyone know if that will exasperate it?
Are you back in Monday?I have got a really packed week but dh is off so i am going to get stuck in and get it all done.

angels1 · 25/09/2010 11:14

seeing doc on tues ledkr as need to get my sick note changed before they let me do anything (assuming she will - can't see why not) and then would go to work on wed but my lessons then clash with a physio appointment I've waited 8 weeks for - so can't cancel - I'm sure work will be very annoyed with me for missing time off for all these appointments I seem to need! Hope back on thurs though. Feed back on any swelling in your privates would be good (can't believe I just said that!!) and hope the uti sorts out - it's really rubbish and horrible to not be able to get rid of it Sad. Btw I dont' know but I would assume cycling could make spd worse - when I had back issues even when I was recovering I could only walk on the walking machine at gym - any work on stepper/cycling machine etc etc at all and I'd get terrible back pain again - I think cycling must shift your hips/back about a bit.

Morning! Sorry to hear about your thrush angels, that's a real bummer :( I did have a bit of swelling down there last time, I can't remember when it happened but I do remember using a hand mirror to do my bikini line when I was ready to pop and being utterly horrified at what I saw Grin

ledkr, I've been getting some pelvic pain (not as bad as SPD) and I find a bit of gentle exercise helps. Not sure on cycling though, have you been referred to a physiotherapist?

Well I just got back from the NCT sale and I'm ready to have a nap now Grin I got some real bargains though, nearly enough clothes to see DD through the winter for £12! And I got myself a couple of pairs of maternity jeans too.

smallblackflowers · 25/09/2010 14:48

Angels I'm sure that I read somewhere that if you get thrush more than 3 times in a 6 month period that you shouldn't self medicate, but consult your doctor instead. I've not noticed any swelling down below, but have heard that some ladies can get piles in their lady bits during pg due to pressure on veins etc. Well done on your trip to work too!

ledkr my SPD has really raised its head in the last week. I find that relaxing on the sofa is about the worst thing I can do for it (shame really as that's all I want to do), but that a trip around the trafford centre also caused lots of discomfort. Have dug out my pelvic support belt and managed a few hours in it this morning whilst out and about before it started to drive me mad! Have an appointment with my GP this thursday to get a gaviscon prescription and hopefully a physio referral. Not sure that cycling would be the best thing due to the leg extensions, but what do I know!

Deliaskis Austria sounds heavenly. Hope you have a lovely time.

eaurouge there was an NCT NNS in my area today, I've never been to one before and the idea scares me slightly as I've heard tales of massive queues and fights over desirable items...

Tarlia · 25/09/2010 15:19

Hello :) Hope you are all well today!

Sorry to hear about your thrush Angels you need to the doctors and get a swab done as it could be BV and not thrush at all. Try using live natural yogurt instead of cream over the weekend, it puts the good bacteria back. Also I'm sure you know all about not using perfumed soaps and things down below, including in the bath, showers are better and clean towel every day to avoid reinfection etc etc yadda yadda

EauRouge glad you got some nice stuff! I'm jealous we do not have NCT over here.

angels1 · 25/09/2010 15:28

what's BV tarlia? I've got a canestan which I'll take tonight as I can't take the itchiness anymore! But am seeing doc on tues anyway so will get her to see what she thinks. I'm so careful with soap etc anyway though it's so frustrating - only wash clothes in fairy and wash with baby soap...but I am quite suseptable to it anyway - tend to get it at least once a year for the past maybe 5 or 6 years but usually can trace it to a different soap/using biological washing powder by accident etc.

OP posts:
Tarlia · 25/09/2010 16:04

BV has very similar symptoms but is a bacteria imbalance where thrush is yeast imbalance. I hope you are not in too much discomfort.

EauRouge · 25/09/2010 16:16

sbf, they are completely terrifying but I got 6 pairs of trousers, 5 tops and 2 jumpers for DD for the £12 I spent so it's worth the queueing and elbowing Grin

angels, definitely try the yoghurt, I used to get thrush a lot and always used yoghurt instead of canestan. It's lovely and cool when it's just come out of the fridge too!

angels1 · 25/09/2010 16:22

just checked the fridge and only got chocolate nequik pots or actimel yoghurt drink Hmm

I've been completely scared off NCT sales from what I've heard about the shoving etc.

OP posts:
EauRouge · 25/09/2010 17:26

Not sure the nesquik would do the trick Grin

The NCT sales really aren't that bad if you go prepared. I knew what I wanted, got there early and queued up, went in and grabbed stuff, paid and left. I was only in there for about 15 minutes. I'm on a really tight budget so the sales are a god send really. Even charity shops are more expensive.

Wanderingsheep · 25/09/2010 21:18

Hello everyone! Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

Went to see SIL's baby yesterday! She's so sweet and tiny and made me feel so broody. Good job I'm already pregnant then! Grin

I haven't caught up with the rest of the replies so apologies for not replying to everyone! Gonna go back and read the thread now!

hubbard86 · 25/09/2010 23:42

angels i had thrush with 1st pregnancy where i swelled unbelievebly couldn't even sit properly. Ended up at the emergency drs in the middle of the night where they gave me a pessary and the cream. It eventually calmed down but i can really sympathise with how uncomfotable it is.

My spd is getting so painful, have found i can only lie or be on all fours comfortably. Paracetamol is my best friend at the moment. Will be going to the drs nxt week to ask no demand referal to a physio.

Hope everyone is having fab time away. I am still trying to unpack all our stuff didn't realise how much crap lovely treasures we actually had.

Have a lovely sunday

suzym1984 · 26/09/2010 10:55

Hi everyone!

Sorry i haven't posted for a while, this thread moves too fast for me! Been feeling quite bad recently also, headaches and sickness, and with a full time teaching job I've had very little time to post!

Had a very exciting weekend tho, me, DH and my parents went to order our pram!!! We have gone for the Babystyle oyster in pearl, with the pearl carrycot and the maxi cosi pebble carseat! EEEEEEEE I am so excited Grin

DH is also on painting the nursery today, we have gone for a lovely primrose colour. Starting to feel like its' all getting a bit real now!

angels poor you I hope u manage to get it sorted out (and hope u didnt resort to using the nesquick pots!)

Congrats also to everyone with good news from the scans Smile

Also, is anyone compltely baffled by baby bedding??? What on earth do we need to buy? sheet? blankets? fleeces? cellular? sleeping bags? OH MY GOD!

EauRouge · 26/09/2010 11:04

suzy, all you need are sheets and cellular blankets. Things like sleeping bags can be useful if your baby tends to kick blankets off but a lot depends on your baby and where he/she sleeps. We ended up co-sleeping with DD so we didn't even need the sheets really Grin

Duvets should only be used for babies over 12 months and I'm pretty sure cot bumpers are frowned upon because the baby could get caught up. I was given one but I never used it because I couldn't figure out what it was meant to do Blush

angels1 · 26/09/2010 11:34

Just to post I didn't try the nesquik pots - they are far too tasty to waste anyway Wink am trying really hard not to use the pessary again until I see doc so just cream rubbing on my engorged area Blush

Was excited to get a second hand quinny off road travel system second hand today but the car has got a flat battery Confused. Just my luck - still, at least it didn't give up whilst i was out and about and feeling bad.

Baby bedding wise from what I've read agree with eaurouge (but I know nothing other than mn and baby books). Ive also been told that cellular blankets can cause the babies fingers/feet to get caught up and cause them frustration. A work colluegus say she swore by (forget the proper name) sort of baby suits that had a sleeping bag type look at the bottom and a regular-ish top (sure someone can jump on here and tell me what they're called). She said she ended up making her own cheap ones from towels and that before she used them she was 'yeah right - I bet they're just another baby swizz' but ended up thinking they were the bees knees

OP posts:
Wanderingsheep · 26/09/2010 11:36

Yes, we had a cot bumper because I thought that it looked nice Hmm but they're pretty useless really as the baby goes to the bottom of the cot, whereas the cot bumper goes at the head of the cot. As EauRouge said, baby can get tangled up in them too.

Also, you need to make sure that when your baby is out and about in the pram that they're wearing what you're wearing plus a layer (as you get warm walking). For eg, if you have a vest, jumper and jacket on then they need a vest, jumper, jacket and blanket.

Hubbard, sorry to hear that you have SPD. I really hope that it doesn't get any worse!

Wanderingsheep · 26/09/2010 11:39

I found the baby sleeping bags really useful as I was forever panicking about using too many/too little blankets but with the sleeping bags I would check the room temp and then use the correct tog bag for the temperature.

smallblackflowers · 26/09/2010 14:24

I second the baby sleeping bags - used a grobag from birth, and loved the chart that came with it that told you what to dress your LO in in the bag based on the temp of the room (they even come with a room thermometer). Best place to get them is TK Maxx, where they are about £12, and there are summer and winter weights.
DD (19 months) still sleeps in a grobag (albeit a bigger one!)

knittakid · 26/09/2010 15:47

Wow, that sounds amazing (the NCT sale)! I think I missed one here yesterday, but it was not exactly close to home, and have been feeling soooo lazy.

Hope you feel better soon angels.

knittakid · 26/09/2010 15:59

Oh, and interesting about hte grobags. EarRouge we are planning to bedshare or cosleep, not sure yet, has anybody in here bedshared from birth? (...can feel the tumbleweed moving into the picture, whistling, nobody talking to me, etc...)
