Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

Damn, cover blow, I am she Wink. If only! I'll take that bank balance, thanking you kindly.

So sorry, I'm too tired to go through all the posts, though I have lurked and read every one. Sorry to hear some of you have infections and such, hope you are feeling better soon.

Anyone else been buying? We got our buggy quote this week, and currently looking at car seats. Which seat is everyone going for? I'm looking at the maxi-cosi cariboFix as I can get an adaptor to turn the phil & teds into a travel system, which will be perfect when traveling with a teeny one. Anyone else going for the P&T?

Hope this finds you all well xx

Wanderingsheep · 09/09/2010 21:04

We've started buying - well just a steriliser and bottles just because they were on offer. Will wait to get everything else after the 20 week scan though. If we're having a girl we can use DD's old clothes and we already have a car seat but we need a new pram.

Wanderingsheep · 09/09/2010 21:09

Meant to say - P & T is meant to be fab! I know someone who has the double one and uses it for a 4 year old and 2 year old. She told me to push it and it felt so light, like I wasn't pushing anything, particularly as it had a 4 and 2 year old in so pushing a baby in a P&T must be a doddle.

ledkr · 09/09/2010 21:13

Trojan. great idea. I'm so glad your at pillow in add stage cos I'm only 19 wks and feel about 38. tonight I have been in tears with sheer fatigue and only really went from shop to shop and mw. I know I'm tired but I am scared that have months to go yet and can only get worse. Dh is helping but I feel I have to keep prompting him or just sits with me. Then feel like a feeble nag.

tadjennyp · 09/09/2010 21:20

I had my 18 week scan today and it was amazing! I'm so relieved that the little one was absolutely perfect according to their measurements. The detail was amazing! It even waved at us. We did find out the gender but I didn't discuss whether to tell anyone with dh so I'd better keep quiet for now. Just need to get dh on to HR to find out about our work visa as it runs out at the end of March. I really don't fancy being asked to leave the country because dh's company's lawyer can't get her act together! Hmm

I hope everyone feels better soon. I've just got a headache which I assume is from lack of sleep. Poor dd who is 5 in February came into our room last night and asked how she would get to heaven if she died. Sad I'm not sure why it's an obsession at the moment. Any suggestions on what to tell her?

Wanderingsheep · 09/09/2010 22:33

Aww, glad you had a lovely scan Tadjennyp! Smile
Not got any advice on what to tell your DD as I'm at a loss of what to tell mine! I've told her that when people die they go to Heaven and we won't see that person again Sad. I only started to talk about it because she was watching The Lion King. She doesn't really understand as I used to childmind and I stopped a few months ago so I told her that X (my mind) wouldn't be coming anymore. She asked if he had gone to Heaven which made me feel awful! Sad

Grannyapple · 09/09/2010 23:06

Hi folks-we went to ogle some prams at a local baby shop last w/e to get a proper idea of what we need & price! Have a mini for a car so somewhat ltd on available prams but think we're gonna opt for the iCandy apple travel system with carry cot, stroller & car seat that fits onto chasis of pram-think the car sear is the maxi cosi pebble? Whole bloody lot is expensive but hoping family & friends will contribute with other bits & pieces like Moses basket etc.

Not ordered anything yet as waiting til after 20 wk scan. Will prob order then so pram arrives before January & vat increase applies!

Think may have felt small movements tonight, tho not so sure-roll on 4th October for scan!

GinaFB · 10/09/2010 07:53

tadjennyp you can tell us the gender of the baby here it's not RL so doesn't count!!!! Really pleased the scan went well!! It's such a relief!

Should we do a stats update to reflect the scans and genders?? I know the Chinese thingie said girl for me and I'm having a boy!

jackinthebump · 10/09/2010 09:27

tadjennyp - that is a tough one! Not sure what to say about getting to heaven but when my mum died we told my 4 year old niece that she had gone to heaven to be a star - she accepted this really well and I think it helped that she felt she could 'see her' when she looked in the sky at night!

angels1 · 10/09/2010 09:36

I think my mum told me when my gran died (I was about 3 or 4) that she had gone to heaven and would always be watching me to make sure I was OK. So even though I couldn't see her, part of her would always be here. I understood it at the time, although I can see how it would be hard to explain and for a little one to grasp. I did just think explaining it as they go to sleep forever and part of their body flies into heaven but then they might get reall worried that when they sleep they might die...it's really tricky isn't it?

Glad tadjennyp scan went well - I can't wait for us all to have our 20 week scans - I've still got 3.5 weeks to go for mine.

Ledkr hope you're feeling less tired today - could it be the UTI making you more tired than usual? Infections always leave me a bit wiped out/drained.

Mmmmm, first day in my very unattractive maternity bra. Please don't let me be run over by a bus and taken to hospital as this is possible the ugliest bra on the planet and I might just die from the shame of it Blush

ledkr · 10/09/2010 09:54

Angels..yes thought that this morning about the utI. feeling ok this am off for charity shop session with my mate!
Funny story. pil have apparently got us a pushchair which was used by 3 cousins oldest now 15! not sure of the details as its a ''surprise'' but dh was bit stroppy when I said I didn't want a family heirloom. we will see them Sunday so am going to discuss my lovely pram I want just waiting to find out sex so can choose colour. Think they mean well but We both have good jobs and sil is a label queen so I may suggest they keep it for her.
Come on prof layton...funny retort please!

Trojan1970 · 10/09/2010 10:08

ledkr glad you are feeling brighter today Smile Enjoy the charity shops.

byronicheroine · 10/09/2010 10:31

A week and a half til my scan, it seems like a long time yet!
Trojan Totally with you on the maternity bras - so ugly, and far too expensive! Hideous underwear, wind, tiredness, nausea, looking a bit fat, what else can I do to put off my OH? Anyone else's sex drive going through the roof? We almost argued about it the other day!

angels1 · 10/09/2010 10:44

lol to trofan with her ugly bra. I went to get my maternity bra yesterday and the ONLY ones in my massive boob size (I'm not boasting - they won't get out of the way and are so darn heay they are making my posture terrible - it's such a pain!)practically came up to my neck and would mean wearing nothing but very high necked tops. I ended out with a underwired one. I was told it would be fine so long as I was fitted again in a month or so to check it fits but have to admit I'm not finding it as comfy as I expected. I've always recommended Rigby and Pellar to everyone and anyone as they have always been fabulous but when I went yesterday I had to wait half an hour just to be seen with no warning of a wait and then they were busy and the lady was trying to hurry me through so I'm not convinced they spent the time they usually do to check it's a perfect fit, but maybe it's just a different fit as she said she gave me one on the big side so I can grow into it. Bet the queen doesn't get that service (they boast about supplying the queens bra's)! Am wearing it today with a new maternity pretty vest top and cardi and for the first time feel quite 'normal' in my maternity gear (everything else I have makes me look like I'm more like 7 months gone).

Sex drive through the roof byronicheroine? I wish! It is back a bit but not even at normal levels...but then I've had thrush 3 times in the past month, so that sort of puts a dampner for me on the potential of any excitement. So annoying! Just off to doc to collect prescription.

grannyapple love the name of the icandy apple travel system - if I didn't know what it was I'd guess it was some travel ipod speakers though!

My sex drive is about the same as usual but I'm constantly too knackered to even contemplate it during the week. I mention it to DH though and there's a pile of clothing on the floor before I finish my sentence, so I think I need to make more of an effort.

Do I need actual maternity bras or can I get by with non-wired normal bras? Mine are finally starting to get a bit bigger but I'm still in my regular bras at 19 weeks.

I'm quite looking forward to a glass of wine tonight, as DH and I are going out for our anniversary tonight. Trying to wear something that minimises my bump as I don't think I could cope if a busybody give me a rough time for drinking while pregnant.

debka · 10/09/2010 12:50

Ooo expat is it your anniversary today too? It's mine- 5 years today! Hoping my in-laws give me a big cheque to say thanks for keeping him for so long!!

americanexpat · 10/09/2010 13:37

debka - yes, 5 years as well! Have you got any plans for celebrating today?

EauRouge · 10/09/2010 14:15

Happy anniversary to you both!

Why are maternity bras so ugly? One of mine is a floral monstrosity that even my Grannie would be embarrassed to wear.

I've been a hormonal wreck all day not helped by the fact that DD and DH are both ill :( Feeling a bit sorry for myself but my dad is coming round later so I can have a good old moan and then feel a bit better- my dad is brilliant to moan to because he just agrees with everything I say Grin

If I'm lily Allen then I definately won't be doing boy gigs for the next few months because my back pain is AWFUL. Does anyone else have it really bad? Sometimes its so bad I can't move but it comes and goes a lot. The oddest thing is that its only on one side of my back, the right. God knows what that means.

Anyone else out there ever had anything similar?

zero. you keep repeating yourself i said you keep repeating yourself lol.
No back pain yet but am convinced that my spd is creeping in especially when i walk.It is starting to affect my life and i have totally given up on the gym and will just be swimming instead from now on.Were going swimming tonight after school as dh is off but he has this older friend(whom im sure fancies him)and he goes to the same gym as us and dh is incapable of telling him when we are going as it makes him feel guilty if he turns up and we are there without him.Ps me off tbh and i told him so.He arranged to go with us so why feel guilty when friend turns up. Its honestly like having another woman. Thing is if i go with dd she wants to play and i cant do my lengths which as it is my only form of excercise i dont think is too much. OOOOOO sometimes long for the days of single parenthood. So much easier to only rely on yourself grrrrrrrr.
