Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

wigglesrock · 08/09/2010 21:35

ledkr yes he is, when we had dd2 he had just joined,(late career change!!!) still in training so he got very little, he has a colleague whose wife has just had a baby so he's going to get all the info before talking to HR.

On a better note I have had a specific craving today which I am delighted about as my appetite has been getting worse - toasted pitta bread, pineapple, cheese, tomato and sweet chilli sauce - yum, yum

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 08/09/2010 21:35

I don't get spaced out on gas & air at all; it just seems to take the edge off a bit. Pethidine I love (possibly because they mix it with an anti-emetic so it's the only time I don't throw up during labour Grin) but labour with DD was very quick so no real chance for it that time. Discovered with DS that my epidural cavity isn't in the normal place, apparently (unfortunately, discovered this by having to lie motionless for an hour while they tried to get the bloody thing in, during which period I dilated from 5 to 10 anyway) so won't be trying that again (I know it works for many/most people, just my luck to have an awkward spine...)

Grannyapple · 08/09/2010 21:43

Omg-there's a program in watch called dawn gets a baby-showing a woman giving birth-maybe I shouldn't watch it!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 08/09/2010 21:52

Is that the Dawn Porter one? I thought it was pretty good (although she does tend towards the irritating)

Grannyapple · 08/09/2010 22:00

Yeah, was actually better than I thought it would be! Being a first timer, don't feel too bad about what lies ahead now, tho I'm sure some of the program was edited a lot-even considering a water birth now...

knittakid · 08/09/2010 22:34

ledkr hope you are ok.

When/where was that prog. on? I deff. want to watch it, although there are videos around, like the one on the pregnancy center, which I still have not gathered the courage to watch... This must sound silly to all of you who are already mothers, but I can't even multitask yet, so got a long way to go on my mother/womanhood.

Grannyapple · 08/09/2010 22:52

It was on the watch channel on virgin/sky at 9pm. Not sure if u can watch it on demand or whatever but I'm sure it'll be repeated. She was a bit irritating, but better at end.

ledkr · 08/09/2010 23:02

I'm fine thanks. I was turning left in slow traffic and cyclist went into my passenger side. All ok. Dd was so upset but went into ballet whilst I went to get script from Drs but with hindsight maybe should have gone back home.
Anti biotics should kick in quickly now.
One of those days really saw two dead pigeons in different places.bad omen. Had little spat with dh cos pil always call about 9.30 just as we settle down as dd bed at 8. 30 and we've done last minute bits. They then talk for over an hour and we are seeing them at weekend! leaves us no time for ourselves and I needed it tonight. oh well maybe ill feel better after a sleep. night ladies

angels1 · 09/09/2010 08:05

oh grannyapple i saw that a year or so ago and it really freaked me out. I think I must be VERY easily freaked out about the whole pain and labour thing. I actually went a bit pale by the end and found DH and said to him something about being put off ever having children. I think I might quite like a water birth too but don't want to set my heart on it as if someone else is hogging it at the hospital when I'm in labour then I can't have one no matter how much I want one.

OP posts:
ledkr · 09/09/2010 08:28

Morning girls. well the lactulose works! not sure I can go out today! ha ha
When I got my script I needed an exemption certificate. where do you get one from?

angels1 · 09/09/2010 08:55

Have you not got a prescription exemption card ledkr ? My mw gave me a form at my booking in I filled in and sent off and a few weeks later I got my card through and I just flash it about to get free prescription. Did get a few free prescriptions before I got the card though by sending DH to collect prescription for me and say I was pg and didn't pay but he didn't have my card to show and they let him have the prescription with no charge (hope this was OK!).

OP posts:
ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/09/2010 09:40

Your doctor/mw should give you the form to apply for one. They have never remembered with me, though, so I have to ask later on and they huff and say that someone should have given e one already and then hunt around for a form. In fact that happens so consistently that I begin to suspect it's a plot to save money...

EauRouge · 09/09/2010 10:06

Maybe it depends on the MW, I got one at my booking this time but with DD I didn't get it until about halfway.

Had my 16 week check the other day, all is well and MW very positive about a home water birth :) just waiting for a date for my 20 week scan now, will have a read of the thread to see who else has had theirs.

ledkr · 09/09/2010 10:39

Thanks I'm going later to get fortnightly bloods done. pain in arse really.
I feel this baby move so much less than the others. good job I got dopler or id be rocking in the corner!
Hopefully they can explain why at 20wk scan next week I think its the placenta which is anterior. I can hear loads of movement on dopler.
How do you feel angels?

angels1 · 09/09/2010 13:08

funnily enough ledkr I thought of you this morning. I had a relatively good day yesterday after not doing very much all day and went today to a bra shop to finally get a properly fitted bra. Not only did I spy many many slim ladies with massive bumps and slim looking mothers with little babies but also I had a huffy moany pg lady in the q behind me in mothercare - made me wonder how you cope with your lady at work. I mean, I didn't feel great, I didn't want to be in a q either, and I was actually feeling quite faint but I just waited quietly - this lady was obviously trying to attract attention to herself by moaning overly loadly in an 'I'm in pain don't you know' way, huffing loudly (OK, so I'll admit to doing this too occasionally) and rubbing her tummy like a genie would pop out to grant her a wish. I kept feeling awkward like I should offer her my place in the q as she was trying to make it so obvious how she didn't want to wait, but she knew nothing of how hard I had found it to get to the shop and how I was feeling as I didn't make it so obvious. Made me feel grr - I really sympathise with you ledkr as I found my blood pressure rising after only a few minutes - I couldn't take even one whole day! Got a phone message from work, they need to speak to me today about being off.eek, very nervous, hope I don't get told I have to pay back sick pay...

Oh, and noticed when out I really struggle with air con - it feels so airless and makes me feel quite dizzy and in need of a good deep breath of fresh air (have always been a fresh air fiend!) and I feel like I get hot flushes - think I may just be odd though. I also noticed I have to sit down all the time, even after walking inbetween just a few shops.

Thought I'd mention to everyone I got some more bio oil at the week end from amazon and they have it half price at the minute.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/09/2010 14:32

By the way, are any of you Lily Allen? I see from t'Internet that she's due in February...

Personally I reckon it's ledkr and all the 43-and-having-5th-baby stuff is a cunning double-bluff Grin

angels1 · 09/09/2010 14:57

lol to prof - I can always count on you to make me smile Grin

OP posts:
40Weeks · 09/09/2010 14:58

Ha ha its not me (although thats also what I would say if it WAS me) Grin

Had such a boring day of housework and have the worst tummy pain and was up half the night with bad tummy. Poor DS have had to entertain themselves for most of today although we are off out for a play date in a while. Good news though I dont have a UTI - just got results from doc. Sorry to those that have, I have every sympathy and hope the tabs kick in soon.

Hope you are all having a good Thursday

Wanderingsheep · 09/09/2010 15:05

Oh bugger! Prof you've rumbled me. I am indeed Lily Allen!

Just kidding! Although I bet Lily Allen would love my life. Bet she'd swap in a minute! Hmm

angels1 · 09/09/2010 16:32

Btw when I was shopping earlier (for my big bra and knickers!) I accidently dropped something and had a shop assistant dash over to pick it up for me to save me the bending (which is getting a little more uncomfy to do). Have I found my first perk of being pg?! Maybe it was just a very keen shop assistant...

OP posts:
angels1 · 09/09/2010 16:33

when I say I had a shop assistant dash over to pick it up - I didn't summon them with clicking fingers or anything, I mean that they ran over to help before I could even start to bend down.

Hi glad your all getting on ok and are starting to have your 20 week scans. mines on the 28th and i can't wait. I've been listening on my doppler aswell and its reasurring to hear baby moving as i haven't felt anything yet.
I got sent home early from work because my sciatica is really painful today. I've had it for a few years but has got worse since i've gained weight in pregnancy. I'm a nursery nurse so i'm really fed up that I can't do my normal duties at the moment. On the bright side my physio appointment came through today so thats something.
Sorry this is a very me and moaning post. I hope you all have a good evening. :)

ledkr · 09/09/2010 18:54

Prof....I just checked my bank balance on the off chance that u r right and I am indeed Lilly Allen. Unfortunately I had 23. 44 in there so can only assume I'm not!
Angels I noticed a couple of mums today with really young babies and skinny figures. How?
Glad you said about the sitting down. went to few shops with dh and walked to Drs. I feel quite waddely when I walk already but am now totally done in. achey pelvis and legs and tired beyond belief. feel quite worried cos only half way thru dont know how ill be as time goes by. mw did say ok to be tired but feel so feeble.

Trojan1970 · 09/09/2010 20:45

I'm not Lily Allen either Smile, but on the subject of money, it is September and Octobers earnings that will be used for working out your SMP (for those who will get it via their Employers) so anyone on commission or expecting a bonus....get it put through this or next month!! It all counts and will boost the earnings for the first few weeks SMP which is paid at a higher rate.

I am making an improvised bolster to sleep with tonight having rolled up a single duvet and secured it with elastic bands. With that on one side and my mothercare wedge on the other I am hoping for a comfortable night. Cheaper than paying £40 + for a special maternity pillow I reckon.
