Haven't time to read through posts, hope everyone is well!

My waters have just broke, all over my sofa and carpet!! Waiting for FIL to arrive to look after Dcs so I can head to hospital. No contractions yet, so guess it's just wait and see. Eek!

Hi Bassface!

hmm Ooh exciting! Can't wait to read all about it when you get a chance :)

bunnygirl80 · 18/10/2010 01:27

Oooh hmmsleep how exciting. Good luck Grin

Pidgin · 18/10/2010 05:01

Good luck mumcha - hope it's going well and keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about leak/ bathroom fenouille. We had a slow leak like that once (although in fact it turned out to be coming from flat above in our case) and it was unbelievably depressing. Hope everything gets sorted out soon.

Welcome bassface! I had a bit of a think about nurseries locally but I think we'll probably end up going for a childminder instead... It feels really weird booking this kind of thing when the baby is still a bump!

OK experienced birthers, what are Braxton Hicks like? I've had nothing at all (37+3 now), but on Saturday I had several twinges which felt kind of like electric shocks - across my back and then once or twice in my hip/ leg. Could this be practice contractions do you think? It felt a bit like I imagine a mild TENS machine feeling... will be able to practice when mine arrives tomorrow! Ebb, what do yours feel like?

Sorry to hear about your PGP/ SPD Vix Sad

One of the women in my NCT group has had her baby two weeks early... I am just wishing I had started mat leave a week early, i.e. today - woke up at 4 this morning and really cannot face the hour drive to work and back-to-back meetings all day [self-pitying emoticon]. Ah well, off for a raspberry leaf brew!

Happy Monday everyone.

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 18/10/2010 05:56

morning all

Good luck hmmsleep

Welcome bassface

Pidgin, this is my 1st so i'm not overly sure what bh are ment to feel like, but i've been having tightnings accross my bump (and have been since 20wks) the whole bump goes rock hard, then releases again. electric shock type feelings dont sound quite right, but i may be wrong Confused

cluelessnchaos · 18/10/2010 07:58

I keep checking in to see how you are mumcha and now I will be checking twice as much for hmmm as well, good luck to both of you.

BH, I didn't feel them at all in my first pregnancy, other than my tummy going very hard, subsequently they feel tingly, a bit like pins and needles and not sore. Sometimes feels like you are bursting for the loo, but I wouldn't worry first time round at all.

Gemjar · 18/10/2010 08:07

BH are generally a tightening, just as Addicted described. I have felt quite a few with this one. You may well have had them and just not noticed, it can be difficult to tell if you've never done it before.

Has anyone else found that they are unable to get to sleep at all at night? It takes ages to get comfy and I don't seem to be able to fall into a deep sleep then, too much on my mind I guess.

Awesome to hear that some are having arrivals already!

umf · 18/10/2010 09:42

Hope all well with mumcha and hmm!

Respect to the ladies who are still going in to work.

Gemjar I can't get to sleep either, and keep waking up. And such strange dreams!

Vix I dunno, I've had physio treatment for PGP/SPD, which has been brilliant, but not sure if worth it if nearly there anyway. Depends how much pain you're in?

Gemjar · 18/10/2010 09:50

Umf - the sleep thing is a bitch, especially when we all know how little sleep we will be getting in a few weeks

Oh well, night time Christmas shopping it is then!

lulastic · 18/10/2010 10:29

Hi all,

wow, hmmsleep that is exciting! (If messy!) I hope it all progresses well.

Have 4 weeks to go. Does anyone else feel like it could come anytime? We have a real sense it could come early, but I am guessing everyone begins to think that at this stage?

My birth pool in a box got couriered to work last week... I didn't think it would be so MASSIVE and have "Birth Pool In A Box" written in huge letters all over every side. I turned up at work and it was sitting there in the middle of the open plan, pride of place. Was mortified. hahaha.

grinningbee · 18/10/2010 10:46

Ha ha lulastic Maybe they're expecting you to give birth to an audience...? Wink

Good luck and speedy labours to hmmsleep and mumcha

I keep feeling like this one could be early. Getting very very strong braxton hicks, but I tried to (tmi alert!) find my cervix yesterday when having a bath to test the "squashy or not" theory and I can't even reach it. There is however something really pushing into the wall so I hope it's not some sort of prolapse. Eeeek.

Odd dreams here too, when sleep allows. I'm loving being awake at 3.30 ish most mornings Grin

We are finally getting a carpet fitted today in dd's bedroom. I insisted that we bought it yesterday! So, once the new cotbed is assembled we can get her into her own room at last. Yay! Just need to tackle some mould type spots that have grown on the walls behind the cabinets. Must be because of condensation, at least I hope so.

Dd is currently running around shouting in the empty room cos it's all echoey. Bless!

lainey1981 · 18/10/2010 10:54

just wrote a long post when the wireless decided to play up so shall try again a bit shorter

hmmsleep how exciting (if a little messy) good luck, keep us posted. V Envy want this baby out soooon - have nearly 5 weeks left though

lul ha ha ha how funny, have you had many comments?

I got my test results back this morning and is good news, no pre eclampsia cooking here sooooo relieved! must have just been a dodgy day with the high BP. wondering if i should now bother going to the BP clinic on thurs as was only booked 'just in case'
also wondering what else could have caused the ++ protein in my urine?? any ideas? Hmm

harmonyb23 · 18/10/2010 10:58

Hope all is well hmm and mumcha

4 weeks to go now, really excited. I too feel like it could be early lulastic but then I doubt it, DS was a week late last time so I expect I'll be having LO in late November! But you never know!

Pidgin my BH seemed to have stopped completely in the last week which is weird as I was having them very frequently before that in the evenings. Think they are saving themselves up for the real thing now maybe?

DS has taken his maths hat to school today and is hoping to win first prize for most original hat. Good luck to him! lol

I am making a birthday card and cake for my brother today. He is a vegan though so I have had to find a chocolate cake recipe which uses no animal produce. Don't know how the thing is going to hold together without butter, cream, etc. Have to use oil and courgette apparently, but I am dubious. Oh well here goes!!!

PrivetDancer · 18/10/2010 11:03

Oohh hmmsleep!!!! good luck, hope you went in to labour soon after!

Didn't realise you were supposed to go into hospital when your waters went if not in labour. I stayed at home for a couple of days last time!

Gemjar, how is the potty training going? I've got vague notions of trying with dd, she does seem ready, but with 5 weeks to go, wonder if it might be a bit silly. Like you say though, now or never (well next spring anyway!)

Ebb · 18/10/2010 11:30

hmmsleep and Mumcha how exciting and good luck. Hope you've had your little ones by now or at least have them soon. Grin

Privet I think they like to monitor the baby a bit if your waters go but no contractions and also like you to take your temperature regularly to make sure you don't get an infection. On the down side, depending on your hospitals policy, they will then want to induce you if you don't go into labour naturally. I had 72hrs to go into labour on my own. Some hospitals have a shorter time scale.

Pidgin I never felt braxton hicks in my first pregnancy but have regularly felt them this time round. They just feel like your bump tightens then relaxes. Mine can be quite painful sometimes though - like period pain - and I have to stop getting excited thinking is this it? Hmm Grin

Fenouille Luckily the leak stopped shortly after but tbh, it's grimly artexed so if it fell down it would be no bad thing! Grin

Glad I'm not the only one having weird dreams. I dreampt last night my waters went and I was trying to find my maternity pads but all I could find were huge huggies pull ups. Hmm I was quite disappointed to wake up and find my waters hadn't gone.......

Well looking forward to hearing all the birth announcements and stories. Wishing everyone quick and easy labours. Smile

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 18/10/2010 11:43

i dreamed that i couldnt find any nappies in the house someone had stollen them, it was sunday evening and no where was open so i had to use sanitary pads as nappies for lo. Hmm i woke up in a complete panic telling dh we NEEDED to buy some more nappies. He gently reminded me we have 4 boxes of nappies and that will be enough!!

Privet they do like to check over for infection and they like to know how many minutes/hours/days inbetween waters breaking and giving birth. In my case i have strep b so not going in as soon as my waters break and having an anti-biotic drip could have serious concequences for my girl

Fenouille · 18/10/2010 13:01

Ooh hmm how exciting :) Can't wait to hear how you get on. Better leave FIL with a mop as well!

Here they tell you to go in within 2 hours of waters breaking but apparently you can wait longer (if there are no contractions) as long as you don't insert anything that could introduce infection (NICE guidelines). Basically they will induce straight-away here so I'm going to play it by ear if my waters go without contractions. Obviously with Strep B its another thing.

Well, the plumber's coming this afternoon so hopefully we'll have a better idea of what's going on then. I'm playing the 'I'm 8 1/2 months pg and we've been without water for 4 days' sob story as hard as I can but doesn't seem to be having much effect so far Hmm The tiling's coming on well though.

Fenouille · 18/10/2010 13:04

Oh, I'm also getting the vivid dreams again. Last night dreamt that the maternity ward was an open air camp ground surrounded by chain link fence in some sort of ghetto Confused Odd.

PrivetDancer · 18/10/2010 13:35

Just shows how different the hospitals are! They didn't want to see me for 48hrs! Thankfully I'd gone into labour by then anyway..

Rinnyx · 18/10/2010 14:38

Oh so excited for you hmmsleep and Mumcha

Not so DP in my books now is still set on going on this trip to HK if DS shows up at least 24 hours before his flight Angry
I'm 37 weeks today so anytime now he could show up but even tho DD was a week early I have a feeling he is more than happy in there, tried curry, that tea thing, kiwi even abit of loving Blush but nothing.
Off to see the MW tomorrow so we will see how he is doing and check on the whole growth issue!

Ebb · 18/10/2010 15:03

Rinnyx I am Angry on your behalf at your DP buggering off to Hongkong when you're due or have just had a baby. What if you end up needing a c-sec? He can't expect you to be up to looking after yourself, a newborn and your older child 24hrs after delivery. My DP was due to go away with work to China and Malaysia and then Kuala Lumpar but he turned down the KL trip as it was too close or just after my due date and DS was 2wks early. As it happens all the trips were postponed til next year but he would never have dreampt of going and potentially missing the birth or not taking his 2wks paternity leave. Have you got family near by to help you?

Sorry I'm ranting on your behalf! Blush

Was anyone else GBS+ in your last pregnancy? What are you doing about antibiotics this time round? I was found to be GBS+ after a swab when my waters broke but didn't get the results til DS was 2 days old. I had antibiotics but he didn't and was fine but I always assumed I'd be given IV antibiotics in labour this time. However I've been told as DS was fine, they won't give them as standard. I have had a swab at 36 weeks and it came back as clear for GBS but I know that can change at any time. The MW didn't seem concerned but I might write it on my birthplan incase the labour ward think slightly differently?

harmonyb23 · 18/10/2010 16:05

Rinnyx I am also Angry on your behalf. I would hate it if DP decided to go away when baby had only just been born! Me and my partner live in each others pockets though and always have done, we don't do anything by ourselves, always spend all our time together (when he's not at work!)... Bit sad really!

I have also been having vivid dreams, mostly about my waters breaking in embarrassing places. Think it's just my mind running through different scenarios!

What is GBS+ Ebb?

celestinelass · 18/10/2010 16:28

Hi all xx

Long time lurker here, have read ALL the 'November due' baby threads from the start! sad I know lol
Started ML last week, so hoping I can join in and share these last few weeks with fellow lovely bumps Grin

SarahBluff: I've had sickness every day of my pregnancy from about 8 weeks Shock Been on 2 different meds but nothing has touched it at all.

Sleep: Oh god...where did it go??? Awake and popping to loo every night from 2.30am. Now, being aggravated by constipation and piles!! TMI I know lol!! Had the embarrassment of having to ask doctor if they would ermmm 'pop' if I go into labour soon. Apparently not......??

Lots of BH and lots of cervix head banging OUCH! 3/5 engaged and due on 6/11.

Good luck to Hmmm and Mumcha...so exciting xxx
