meet up thread

Hope this works... honeymoo, sabie and any others wanting to meet.. have started another thread as suggested as so many posts missing msgs!

4madboys · 25/08/2010 20:48

oh rhinny thats crap, i was learning to drive when preg with ds4, got to the test centre and my test was cancelled due to shortage of examiners! and i havent got back round to learning again, was too busy once ds4 was born! and now i need to take my theory again as its run out!

mumcha how come you are getting induced early? i am sure you have prob already told us but i have forgotten Blush

i shall look at meet thread, its easy enough for me to hop on a train to london but it will depend on dp's shifts, boys and school etc.

oh and MUMCHA my eldest starts high school on the 6th sept, i am already feeling wobbly about it, its scary how quickly they grow up.

rhinny we really have no excuse not to meet uup as we are so close, we must try and organise it, if we did it for when kids are at school we could meet in town, have coffee or somethinag and wonder a bit, coo over baby clothes etc, dp is so NOT interested in shopping for baby stuff it would nice to have someone that would at least look at baby stuff!

4madboys · 25/08/2010 20:49

oh and sorry for putting an H in your name rinny! Blush total preg brain.

is anyone else nesting btw? i am frantically cleaning and tidying, it must be my hormones!

tiany · 25/08/2010 20:51

oh and i am definitely partial to a treat every day, teary and sometimes in the horrors for no reason... poor DH!! Blush

I have put on 17lbs aswell but majority of it seems to be in my bump and boobs... not worrying about weight anymore either - figure i will leave that one until after when i can actually do something about it :)

Rinnyx · 25/08/2010 21:01

Thanks 4madboys I still cant believe my bad luck, I hope they give some leeway for me.
My instructor is going to call them up tomorrow about it all.

Yeah we should do that, I'm busy September but we should try and meet in October so a waddle around the city while the kids are at school Grin

lainey1981 · 25/08/2010 21:02

I was really healthy for the first 18 weeks or so as just went off everything including chocolate and sweet things. In the last few weeks i have definitely been eating a lot more sweet stuff as seem to crave them in the afternoon - nothing to do with being bored stupid at work Hmm
i have put on around 7lbs so far (but was v oveerweight to start with) my bump doesn't look that massive as I am tall but FEELS big to me and my poor back lol.

rinny -sorry about your driving test.

bunnygirl80 · 26/08/2010 00:21

I'm glad I'm not the only one eating tons of sweet stuff. I've started making big fruit salads and keeping them in the fridge so when I get the urge to snack I can just help myself to something healthy......still tend to follow up my bowl of fruit with a bar of chocolate though Blush

rinny hope you get to do your driving test as planned. Good luck!

I spent yesterday afternoon organising my leaving do at work - with my very part time working patterns I've only got 6 days of work left, although it's spread over the next 4 weeks. It makes everything seem so close and I'm still nowhere near ready for LO to arrive

comtessa · 26/08/2010 10:10

I am desperate to get nesting - but we're still finalising things on the house we're buying. Hoping to sign the contracts this week, and moving in in three to four weeks. I am so over our second floor flat with no lifts!

Weight gain for me is currently 2st, but that hasn't really changed in last few weeks. Like tiany, I figure I'll worry about it when I can actually do something about it, will be taking up Weight Watchers once little one is here.

Does anyone know where sells a colourful range of maternity tights?

Rinnyx · 26/08/2010 10:58

Thanks 4madboys and bunnygirl80 but sadly my instructor called to say I am one of the people to have had their test cancelled even tho he told them about me being pg they just auto booked me in for end of Nov which will be no good so my poor instructor is going to call them everyday to check for last min cancellations tho the cut off for me to go to test is 2 weeks before my EDD we agreed :(

Thank god I have my friends wedding next Friday and Spain next month, I NEED a mega chill out

Pidgin · 26/08/2010 11:06

Hello new thread Smile

Wow, loads to catch up on! Sorry to hear about the driving test problems Rinny. Hope all those with back pain/ SPD etc are not feeling too dreadful. I have definitely started to feel 'more pregnant' - achey back in particular. Also I am irritable (more than normal that is Grin). Poor DH...

Back's especially achey today as my birthing ball which I use as a chair at home popped with me on it! I fell straight down on to my coccyx which is v painful now. I have written the ball sellers a sternly worded email as it is supposed to deflate gently if it gets punctured to stop this happening. I didn't hit my bump thank goodness, but was weeping on the floor in pain with DH standing over me going "It's OK, you're OK, just breathe deeply" - good preparation for birth itself, I guess!

We started hospital antenatal classes this week - it was great to see the delivery ward and birthing centre which looked lovely. I quite fancy a water birth now. They also made us watch some videos of birth, at which point several blokes left the room, the wusses! I cried both times when the baby was born in the video, had to cover it up as pretend something was in my eye as no-one else seemed remotely moved at all. Still, glad to hear others are getting the crying fits too!

Anyway hope everyone is doing well and not getting rained on...

harmonyb23 · 26/08/2010 11:15

4MadBoys We have decided on our names, not sure whether we will stick with them though. Going with Aiden for a boy and Alessa for a girl (don't know why we've picked A's). But I'll probably change my mind once the baby arrives...

Well I was hoping to have a nice lazy day today, but that is being interrupted by Dp's 2 brothers who are coming across a day early to stay for the weekend. They are on a climbing holiday and are being battered by the rain, so you got to feel sorry for them really, means I have to get dressed now though!! Sad

blondecat · 26/08/2010 11:34

dairymum

One of the best pieces of advice I got is to get my Christmas shopping / cards done before the baby arrives

We shall see if I am organized enough to carry it through

And thanks girls for letting us know anti-D doesn't hurt. Sigh of relief.
Meanwhile need to postpone our hypnobirthing class as my mama is coming over for a week and happily said she would sit in on it! Shock

Ebb · 26/08/2010 13:37

Am I the only one who hates being pregnant? Blush I love the end result, obviously, although Ds is testing me rather dramatically with some sleep issues at the moment which I could really do without right now!

I'm suffering really badly with pain in my right thigh. It feels like someone is holding a blowtorch to my skin. Sad I had it with Ds and saw the MW, Dr and Physio and nobody could help. My back is playing up a lot and turning over in bed at night is really painful. I'm not sleeping well and that, combined with Ds waking when I've just managed to drop off to sleep, is turning me into a seriously grumpy and hormonal moo!

Had to have my platelet levels redone at 28wks. Fab MW who got blood straight away. Great. Hospital loses the sample! Had bloods done again. Luckily, another good MW. Comes back as 'sample unsuitable for analysis'. Confused Aaaahhhhh so I have to have them done again and I can't believe I won't end up with the MW who struggles to take my blood and butchers my arm!

We still haven't settled on a name but have a couple of strong contenders. I hope they got the sex right at the scan cos if it comes out a boy, it's going to be nameless for ages!

Anyway hope everyone is not as grumpy as me well and blooming! Grin

comtessa · 26/08/2010 14:18

Hello Ebb, you poor thing! I was just feeling sorry for myself as am so tired, but have now bucked myself up after reading your post. Can you do something nice for yourself, like take a bath or just curl up for a nap? Thinking of you.

hmmSleep · 26/08/2010 17:24

Had 31 wk midwife check today, have been advised to either cut down iron tablets to 1 a day or try spatone instead due to tablets giving me diarrhea. My levels were 10, which according to this Anaemia in pregnancy website doesn't seem too bad, you're considered anemic if levels are less than 10.5.

Also traces of protein in my urine, but midwife didn't seem concerned.

Got her to prescribe some gaviscon too, getting the most awful heartburn/indigestion now.

What a pain in the arse about the driving test Rinny, most irritated for you.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time Ebb, I don't enjoy pregnancy one bit, and haven't really even had any problems!

FourEyesGood · 26/08/2010 19:21

Am very pleased to hear that so many others are eating loads of sugary, fatty foods too. I know it won't lessen the effect of the food I eat, but it makes me feel less guilty! Grin Like Smithy, I'm also eating plenty of fruit and veg, so at least I'm getting some healthy stuff in amongst the chocolate, crisps and ice cream.

Anyone else having trouble getting socks and tights on? I don't think I had this problem until about 35 weeks with DS, but have really struggled with reaching my feet properly for the past few days. At the chiropractor this morning, I really thought I was going to have to call her in to help me get my tights back on!

And I've just realised that the information in my first paragraph might be connected to what I say in my second... Blush

mumcha · 26/08/2010 22:10

Hi all 4mad boys im getting induced as i have been induced with the other 3 because of growth problems ,but this little 1 is mow around 3lbs which is average weight .But the doc told me 2day he will still induce :).

bunnygirl80 · 27/08/2010 00:45

rinny sorry you won't get to do your test. I hope you manage to get a cancellation soon Smile

pidgin Shock that your birth ball popped. Hope you're feeling better now.

harmony I love your name choices. DH and I still haven't discussed it sensibly at all yet

ebb it sounds like you're having a hard time of it at the moment. I'm starting to enjoy being pg less and less and I think I've had a pretty easy ride of it so far so I can't imagine how bad it must be if things aren't so easy.

foureyes I do struggle occasionally to get my socks on/off - not so much because I can't reach but I get lots of pain in my pelvis if I lift one leg off the floor. I could probably solve the problem by sitting down to do it, but I never remember until I'm wobbling around strugging to balance on one leg and in pain Hmm

My main problem is not being able to reach to shave my legs properly - I'm currently sporting really hairy bits for the bottom inch of each leg Blush I should probably do something about it but instead I'm just waiting for my bump to grow big enough to obscure my view of them.....out of sight and out of mind seems to be my current policy Grin

craftykamo · 27/08/2010 16:24

Hi all again. Yup, I'm eating too much sugary stuff - got my GTT on Tuesday morning and am scared that it'll be positive. Last time I checked my weight I'd put on about 4.5kg (think that's about 10lb), but that was about 7 weeks ago and have got huge since then - am too scared of the scales to find out!

Had my midwife appointment today where she measured my bump - 29cms at 28 weeks. Which she thinks is big, but I was under the impression that it was roughly 1cm per week. Then I looked at the growth chart in my notes and wanted to cry, as apparently that's miles off the scale! Eeek. Though some of it might be my flabby belly...

hmmSleep · 27/08/2010 18:02

crafty your bump measurement sounds spot on to me. Look at this link I measured 28cm at my 28 wk check and was told by midwife that was spot on. At my 31 wk check a diffrent midwife just wrote 31cm on my notes without measuring which I thought was a bit Hmm!

Really suffering from acid reflux now, have stocked up on the gaviscon but still pretty uncomfortable. Also pulled a tummy muscle when I sneezed, it hurts everytime I cough or laugh, most annoying. They've got spatone on 3 for 2 at boots at the moment, so stocked upon that too, nearly £8 a box!

Tired and emotional here too.

Had physio yesterday for the pelvic girdle pain (aka SPD). Gave up trying to get NHS help and googled a specialist physio. She was really good. Have less pain today, ie no pain while resting, but not really any prospect of being able to walk any distance for rest of pg. Feel like one of those wobbly puppet dolls with legs dangling from hips. Depressing - had so many postive plans for this pg, exercising, swimming, nesting. But even moving round kitchen is difficult and painful.

Also feeling lonely, cos now have finished working realise don't have many mummy friends. And it's the summer so everyone's away. And most of the mummy friends I do have work lots. And v good friend is moving abroad. And DH is managing a big project, so busy and inaccessible, working at home in evenings.

Sniff. V sorry to hear lots of others also feeling down. Let's hope it's a stage.

lainey1981 · 28/08/2010 08:22

Hi everyone

up bright and early after mega 11 hour sleep last night. amazing how normal I feel today.

Yesterday was my 28w appointment, which went fine, midwife didn't measure me until I stupidly said "aren't you going to measure me?" (i was worried as was measuring slightly big at last appt). so she did but said it wasn't necessary but then raised her eyebrows when it said 30cms!! she said nothing to worry about as only 2cms different, but can't help thinking i'm growing a giant. Hopefully it's just that DP and I are fairly tall (5f9 and 6f1) and have tall families?
She also found a trace of protein in my urine but didn't seem concerned and said it could have been contaminated (TMI) discharge Blush

Also had anti-d which hurt a bit and has left a localised reaction but nothing like I had been told to expect, and had blood taken EASILY for the first time ever hurrah!

Off shopping for some baby clothes today, so looking forward to that.

hope everyone is well, sorry for uber long post Smile

Sabie · 28/08/2010 09:42

Hi all,

a 3 day weekend!!! Yay!!! Shouldn't all weekend s be this length, it's so much more civilised and would solve unemployment if everyone did it!

I had my 28 week appt this week (@ 27+4), measured 26.5 which I was told was small but perfectly within the normal range. Strong heartbeat heard, always reassuring and was told baby was kicking the doppler! I have put on 9kgs so far. Getting v. tired these days. Weirdest 'symptom' is my tummy moving independently from me! I'm trying to chair a case conference or meeting at work and LO will start moving and it is so off putting!

Umf; you sound a bit low; where are you geographically? Maybe someone on here is nearby?

Have a good weekend all...

Ebb · 28/08/2010 11:28

Umf sorry you are feeling crappy too. It's hard work isn't it? They never show pregnant women on tv hobbling about in pain like incontinent old women. Sad It's depressing. I'd love to enjoy pregnancy but sadly not!

Ds slept all night last night - hooray - so why was I awake at 1am, 3am, 5am...... Confused It's so annoying. I'm going to be exhausted by the time baby arrives.

Dp left home yesterday at 9.15am and finally arrived in Korea at 10.30am today. He's working out there for 3 days and then has the 24hr trek back home, getting back on Friday. I think they have a change of planes in Dubai as too expensive to fly direct but he'll be exhausted when he comes home so I won't get much of a rest then either! Ds is already asking when Daddy is coming home. Dp was due to spend 2 wks in Malaysia and China when I was 35wks but luckily that's been cancelled.

I see the MW again on the 7th Sept to get my bloods redone and then I guess I'll see her at 34wks. Seems ages. My bump is huge. I was this size with Ds at 36wks! Blush

Rinnyx · 28/08/2010 16:25

Thanks again bunnygirl80 gonna keep my fingers crossed maybe if I get to go to test before Nov with a even bigger bump in tow they may go easy on me

Oh again with bargain news I bring haha, Boots mini mode is closing for a new brand so they have to get rid of everything.
I got a lovely winter coat today, was £18 but down to £8 :)

My trapped nerve is kicking in every night now, I am slowing down during the day and then all the ache and pains catch up with me as night, its like soon as I get on that sofa or bed if I need to get up again it will result in my yelling anf crying from the pain :(
Told DP come Oct he will have to take over more of the workload of the business and I will just have to do the home stuff and his home work stuff he normally does also
