Oh fen :(
That would suck at any time, let alone with a baby imminent! Hope it turns out to be easily fixed. Surely it must be related to the work you're having done though?
Anyway, don't worry, in a few weeks it'll all be a distant memory, and even if the baby turns up halfway through you'll cope! A night in hospital might be a nice break :)

mumcha · 15/10/2010 21:39

hi all well im not being induced as im in early labour and baby has put on over 1lb in a week :).So now im kinda scared going into labour myself as i never have.

cluelessnchaos · 15/10/2010 22:56

Fen that sounds awful, roll on Monday

mumcha I am so excited for you, good luck and god speed, can't wait to hear all about it

llandb · 16/10/2010 00:09

Ooh mumcha, how exciting! Good luck.

Fen who needs that stress? - I hope things look up soon

FourEyes an internal scan, how lovely (not!) - hope all goes well!

lainey isn't that funny - most of my landlords/landladies over the years have been fine, but the two who have been the most intrusive and suspicious (including the present one Angry) have, funnily, been those who have handed the place to us in a state. Or, at least, in this case, lots of things broken/not working, yet muttering about charging previous tenants for leaving tiny bit of dust (despite the landlord saying he'd get his cleaner through the house - oh, he meant his wife). And we daren't get him in to fix anything while we're still unpacked and, horror of horrors, messy. It's almost as though they're trying it on.

umf thanks :) and yay for your scan result! - Good luck with your MW; do you think she's anti-home-birth as such? Shock at your RF experience!

Think I posted a while back about being really short of breath - MW insisted I see the GP who found nothing wrong except high pulse rate. When I went to see the MW last week, she was sufficiently alarmed that she insisted I see the GP on the spot - again, nothing obviously wrong. I asked the MW whether the baby's position could be the cause and she said 'not to that extent'.

Funny thing is, baby turned from breech to cephalic that very night (as confirmed before and after by MW and student MW friend) and the next morning I realised that I wasn't puffing any more. Guess I'm a bit of an outlier but awfully nice to feel normal again :)

Better go as Mr llandb needs laptop - goodnight, bumps!

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 16/10/2010 08:08

morning all fen, i hope your feeling better this morning. i agree that aqll that work and stress would suck at the best of times.

mumch yea for early labour, hopefully things will move along quite quickly for you and you wont be in too much discomfort for too long. just keep focusing on your b aby at the end

llandlb yea for baby turning and being able to breathe again

harmonyb23 · 16/10/2010 09:29

Mumcha good luck, hope labour progresses well and you and baby are OK.

Can't believe it is only the middle of October and LO's are already on the way!

Makes me very Envy as I am pretty sure my LO isn't going anywhere as of yet! I am 1/5 engaged but my Braxton's Hicks have stopped and I think he's probably going to be late, just like his older brother was 7 years ago! You never know though!

Sorry to hear about stress at home Fen, hope things get better soon.

Well DP is at work this Saturday so I am doing arts and crafts today with DS. Have to make a "Maths Hat" for next week at school so that should be fun.

Speak soon, take care!

x x x Smile x x x x

umf · 16/10/2010 09:58

Go mumcha!! All the best for a straightforward finish!

Fenouille I'd be going spare. Really, really hope the leak is something simple.

llandb glad you can breathe again!

Think my midwife is really very positive about homebirth, but she may be concerned eg that they have staffing issues in November. Hope she'll just be straight with me - I don't want to spend the next weeks wondering.

Had better go and get on - was astonished at 0820 to see DH and DS heading off to B&Q in very business-like manner. My nesting instinct appears to be affecting rest of family, tho in rather more masculine form.

Hope things are well with everyone else.

Gemjar · 16/10/2010 10:28

Glad to hear everyone else is nesting as well.

Am very happy as we have finally bought everything we need for the imminent arrival. Just need to put the cot together when it arrives next week.

In the process of a full potty training onslaught with DS1 today - I am probably mental for doing this now, but he seems ready for it and can't think of another time when it will work in the next 6 months at least, and he will be over 3 by then.

will keep everyone updated on how its going, am currently very proud as he has been sitting on his potty for about 15mins following a small accident - hasn't done anything in it yet, fingers crossed though

llandb · 16/10/2010 12:35

harmony whatever is a maths hat!? It sounds potentially like something that could be way cool, but I could see someone putting a lot of effort into geeking out, only for noone to 'get' it (don't s'pose it matters as long as the process is fun :))

Boris just spotted your post (still catching up) and :( - good luck with both the medical side and the getting them to do something side!

Gemjar another one who is a bit mental for doing the potty training. We wanted to do it over the summer but had PIL visiting from NZ for 5 weeks in May-July and wanting to interact/go on outings, right in the middle of the ideal-for-potty-training weather (DD just turned 2 then). Then I decided to hold off until we'd moved house - then it took us ages to find somewhere to move to - now we're not unpacked enough to manage it (so she went back to nappies after we moved) - blah blah. She may or may not be in nappies when her baby brother is here! Confused

Speaking of unpacking, better go and do a bit more while DP has DD out of the way. Not so much nesting as mad panicked 'blimey I'm nearly out of time and can't find a thing or move for all the boxes in the way!' :o

Toodle-pip, bumps :)

sarahbuff · 16/10/2010 12:58

Hello ladies! Just checking in. Anyone 8 months pregnant and STILL feeling nauseous? Argh, I am fed up with it by now. But less than 4 weeks to go, presentation scan booked on Thursday and Gas&Air being delivered on Wednesday. So exciting!

Hope all goes well for you Mumcha and I really hope you get your homebirth umf! I can hardly wait for mine. Husband still whining that it will "make a mess and can't we just go to hospital instead?" Argh! :)

Fenouille · 16/10/2010 13:19

Afternoon everyone, thanks for all your kind cheering-up words :) I'm a pretty optimistic person so I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Just as well as poor old DH didn't have a clue what to do with the wailing, snotty lump his wife had turned into! Grin Most probably we'll have to lay new pipes through the flat and block off the old ones due to the fact all the plumbing is laid within the concrete floor Hmm And you thought British plumbers are cowboys? Grin It looks like it's been leaking very slowly for months and its just now reached critical mass. A very bad coincidence with our bathroom works, but DH is chuffed that the plumber was so complimentary about his efforts.

On the positive side DH and FIL have finished laying the shower floor tiles and are about to start on the wall tiles - maybe we'll have a shower on Monday. At least it'll look pretty even if we can't use it! And over here you are kept in for 4 days after the birth - if I get the timing right we can come back to a repaired flat!

mumcha how exciting, keeping fingers crossed that all goes well for you.

umf why the November staffing issue? Just too many babies? We're likely to run into staffing problems as well, but due to the strikes

llandb yay for being able to breathe!

harmony a maths hat sounds awesome. Though I probably won't be thinking that in 7 years if DC comes home with some equally awkward creative homework

4madboys · 16/10/2010 13:45

lots to catch up on as ever!

GOOD LUCK MUMCHA! cant wait to hear news of your arrival!

fenouille that sounds like a nightmare, no wonder you are so stressed, if it helps at all our house is also in a state of 'work being done' bathroom 97% finished, but the front porch, dining rm/hall are a mess, wallpaper stripped off and walls that need re plastering before we can re decorate, also wanted to do our bedroom before baby arrived, but that wont be happening now. and to top it off the rooms that have been done, ie living rm and middle two boys bedrooms, now have bits that need touching up due to vandalism by ds4!

i have pretty much got used to it now tho, we have lived here 5 yrs and its been a work in progress that whole time Hmm

all fine here pregnancy wise, baby head down and very low, i thought she had dropped a bit as it doesnt feel like she is breaking my ribcage anymore! i have washed and sorted some baby clothes and bought nappies, maternity pads etc, so we are getting sorted with 5 and a bit weeks to go! tho we arent having much luck on the names front, she will be 'baby' for a bit when she is born, as her brothers were at first, poor ds4 didnt have a name for a two weeks Blush hopefully it wont take us that long this time!

Rinnyx · 16/10/2010 17:51

I've been feeling yay and nay since yesterday :(
Found out DP and I qualified for the business trip to HK, I knew I would not be going but I'm abit hurt that DP still wants to go if DS is born before the 7th but the trip is a week and I dont know how I will handle a new born and DD as I cant drive yet and all my friends and family live in Cambridge and I cant really ask the inlaws to run DD to school and back that week as they own and run a shop

I did thankfully have a pick me up today as the pram got dropped off today rather than Monday and I pulled DD's old play mat out to air
But still feeling abut low and lost as on what to do on the whole DP maybe going to HK thing

bunnygirl80 · 16/10/2010 23:17

mumcha good luck!!!!

fenouille your building works sound like a nightmare. We had vaguely similar probs with our flat in the UK - downstairs neighbour reckoned she could hear water dripping into her flat, but no obvious leak from the pipes in our bathroom, and everything else enclosed between our floor and her ceiling. Noone ever saw any water dripping into her flat despite many many visits from plumbers - in the end the decided she was a bit mad!! She ended up getting her ceiling taken down rather than our floors taken up, so it worked out pretty well for us Grin

Vix7 · 17/10/2010 14:20

any news from mumcha yet?

anyone here suffered from PGP/SPD? i was getting out of the tub yesterday after a shower and think i overextended my leg and now the groin/inner thigh area hurts to high heaven! can't walk properly and waddling is also difficult. read the pelvinpartnership.org.uk website which says shld get treatment immediately but i'm really close to due date already so now what do i do?

in other news i think the mucus plug is slowly starting to go. TMI alert! 2 days ago it was thick white mucus and today it was slightly yellowish (like the stuff you blow out of your nose when you get a bad cold)

think DH is nesting more than me. he's taken to cleaning out the rooms, cleaning the kitchen appliances, oven, stove and sharpening all the knives!

Fenouille · 17/10/2010 14:43

I was wondering about mumcha too but I guess she's a bit busy for the moment!

Vix I've also started having a bit of groin pain and feeling that my hips are a bit loose and uncomfortable. I did bring it up with my mw at my last appointment and she said the groin pain was probably the baby squashing a nerve somewhere. I've only got 2 weeks to go anyway so like you I think I'll just suffer in silence unless it gets significantly worse. Actually the groin pain has gone now but my hips are getting worse.

Bunny your downstairs neighbour sounds completely crazy! Sounds like the perfect solution though. I was praying the plumber wouldn't be able to confirm the leak so that downstairs would have to open the ventilation shaft the water's running down (at our end the shaft is dry as a bone) but he's refusing to do anything now as it's our problem to sort out :/

Hope you're all enjoying your Sundays? I've just started soaking the fruit for the Christmas cake and now I'm listening to Gardener's World and contemplating a nap Grin

Ebb · 17/10/2010 19:36

Fenouille hope your leak gets sorted without too much trauma and I sympathise. Dp changed the tap in the bathroom today ( hot tap has been jammed for ever ) and I am currently sat in the dining room watching water drip through the kitchen ceiling. Hmm I shall remain calm...... Grin

Having a few painful braxton hicks but nothing exciting. Still have 3 weeks to go though but can but hope!

Fenouille · 17/10/2010 20:04

Ebb Argh Shock Bet you're regretting ever complaining about washing in cold water now, eh? :)

I've also had a few braxton hicks today but painless so hopefully it's only a warm up.

Bassface · 17/10/2010 20:16

Hi everyone, hope I'm not too late to join you. Been lurking for quite a while and enjoyed the feeling of going through all this at the same time as you so thought it was time to introduce myself!

This is my first baby and I'm due on november 10th. Been a pretty uneventful and straightforward pregnancy (other than getting made redundant!) but just getting to the stage where I'm feeling very heavy and tired and achey.

I've been very lucky so far though and had nothing to complain about until now so I suppose feeling like I should slow down a bit with 3 weeks to go isn't too bad.

Me and DH went to antenatal classes this weekend and got chatting to some other couples. One said they had already been checking out nurseries! As I don't have a definite job to go back to, I'm not sure whether it's worth bothering with now or leaving till after Christmas. I will more than likely be at home till the baby is 8 months old as I get maternity allowance.

Has anyone else started looking at nurseries yet or is it something we can leave until we've got actually having the babies over and done with?!

FourEyesGood · 17/10/2010 20:49

Bassface I think the nursery situation very much depends upon whereabouts in the country you are and what sort of nursery you want. When we were expecting DC1, we were told to get a nursery place sorted out long before he was born. Being rubbish about that sort of thing, we only ended up making enquiries about two months before we wanted him to start at nursery, and it all ended up being fine - he's in a great nursery and he loves it. So unless you're in [insert name of swanky area of London], you should be fine to leave it until you've had a chance to recover from the birth!

Bassface · 17/10/2010 21:16

Thanks for that FourEyes I'm in Manchester city centre so I think a lot of people who work in the centre will use the nurseries local to us as well as people who actually live here. Suppose it's something I shouldn't worry about but wouldn't hurt to make a few enquiries. Just feel as though we've got enough to focus on for now without starting to worry about all that stuff!

PrivetDancer · 17/10/2010 21:30

Welcome, bassface!
Funnily enough my baby is marked down for nursery this time next year, but only because dd already goes there and they know i'm pregnant so they said they might as well write it down! With dd I think we started looking a couple of months before we wanted her to start, it seems too bizarre to do it before they're even born, but I know some areas it might be necessary.

mumcha dying to know what's going on!!

tiany · 17/10/2010 21:42

mumcha fingers crossed all went smoothly xo

tanmu - thanks, working from home not an option unfortunately but think will just take another day off this wk to get me through!

Rinny i'd be pretty piddled off if my DH was going away with work for a wk anytime soon! cant it be postponed until early next yr?

TENS.... got a rental but feels like only works on one side of my back.. is this normal?? is it supposed to be stronger on one side of a pair than other?

umf · 17/10/2010 22:06

Just quickly - hi Bassface I've got bumpling on the waiting lists of two nurseries, in the hope that he'll get a place at one by this time next year, just in case I want and can find a job... That's in Cambridge, where the independent day nurseries (as opposed to the chain, for-profit ones) are very over-subscribed. For DS1 I didn't know about all this, so have ended up with v cobbled together childcare. Might be worth asking about central Manchester nurseries on the local pages?

PrivetDancer · 17/10/2010 22:25

Tiany - no, they're not supposed to be stronger on one side. Perhaps one of the leads was a bit loose, or you hadn't stuck the patch on quite right? Or it's faulty!
