Yep I've had that low down pain for a couple of weeks now, and some days (today) it feels like I've been kicked hard in the unmentionables!! MW says its pressure from baby being low.

soontobefatnat · 07/08/2010 06:03

Morning all - lovely night's sleep (I don't think). Been awake since 3am and only went to bed at midnight Hmm. Oh well, hopefully I can squeeze in some naptime today between all the various chores on our to do list.

I think all the stuff left to do is keeping my brain whirring too much - loads of tidying and finding homes for our random bits and bobs (so ridiculous, seeing as we moved in in May and should have finished all the unpacking by now!) Also, we seem to be cursed with biblical plagues in our new place. The clothes moth problem has returned with a vengeance, so the pest company have to come and fumigate early next week (will have to move every bit of furniture away from the walls...) And we seem to have a family of mice living on our front door step, in a little hole in the brickwork. Brilliant! Confused No idea if they're getting in the house or not.

In less moany news, I hauled my fat behind into Soho last night for dinner with friends and had the most amazing meal. Went to a Japanese place that makes fresh udon (was wonderful) and then had gelati at the BEST ice cream place I've ever been to. Such a treat! Reckon that'll be the last time I cross the river for a while.

Heh - epic post. Sorry! Bit bored and lonely. Hope everyone else is well - Cazzy hopefully your BP will right itself soon. Vita hope you had a more relaxed day yesterday. Oh, and thanks all for the co-sleeping tips. Really useful, especially about getting them used to their cribs/cots in the daytime.

weehector · 07/08/2010 06:56

I hope pancakes, bacon & maple syrup are ok with you because I'm a bit glum this morning & need a spoiling feast to cheer me up. So I'm still here - 40+2 sucks tbh even though I've been pretty busy this week & feeling the energy since Monday. I'm trying to be creative & scheduling a treat a day over 40 weeks to keep myself going but it's already wearing a bit thin. I'm clinging onto the MW's confidence on Thursday that I was ready to go at any moment which is probably why I'm now so antsy again, having had 5 days of Zen.

Anyways, I don't think I've been on to say congratulations to cazzy...sounds like another good un. My thoughts are also with cazem today...she was my due date buddy for today (when I was working to my dating scan dates) & that helps puts my overdue moans into perspective...caz if you're reading today, I know today will be really hard for you..but I hope it's not too hard for you & DH & you're doing something nice to remember Belle..today was always going to be a tough milestone to pass. I really wish you could be here moaning with me!

Alicetheinvisible · 07/08/2010 08:07

Morning Smile

Sorry to those who had rubbish nights.

Caz thinking of you today.

Weehector what would you really like to do (apart from having the baby?) reflexology was lovely and can help things, perhaps give that a go? Coffee and cake?

Thought things could have been kicking off last night. Cleaned kitchen (in itself a bit strange) and sat down, had a hot choc, all fine. Went up to bed and honestly felt like i had an upset tummy, really queasy feeling, spasming tummy but without actually having the D&V, felt so bad i fell asleep and couldn't even read my book but when i woke in the night for the loo felt fine, just crampy legs. Very strange.

Right, will be back later i'm sure, must get up to the horses...

Chulita · 07/08/2010 08:39

[tucks into pancakes and bacon]

Sam won't sleep longer than an hour at night, I'm absolutely shattered. During the day he'll sometimes go for 4 hours and one day he lasted 6 hours without a feed but during the night he just can't stay asleep. Just need him to get used to sleeping a bit longer - I don't think he's feeding that much at a time either, he'll feed for 40 mins in the day but only 10 mins at night [sigh]

littlemiss how lovely of your postman to do that! Our postlady signs for things for us if we're out which safe us an hour round trip to the sorting office.

weehector hope something shifts soon, DD was 12 days late and it drove me mad!

cazzybabs · 07/08/2010 12:25

so its my turn for a moan..... and I am supposed to be enjoying post-birth bliss

so I am back on the blood pressure medication :( because it passess into the breastmilk - so the pharmist's advice was to stop! I made dh go back to the GP and ask him to prescribe what they said I should be taking in hospital...which still passes into the breaskmilk but I have more confidence they know what they are talking about. I cried last night and feel a bit emotional about it...I don't want to stop breastfeeding but equally I don't want to die. The Gp also said I would likely have high bp for life now :( which is different to what the doctor in the hospital suggested .. anyway fingers crossd it will come back down.

My milk has come on and I am sore because I am so full and Poppy has doesn't a poo since Thursday morning!

My parents are going home today leaving me with dh and 4 children - panic panic panic

ElusiveMoose · 07/08/2010 12:48

Cazzy sorry to hear that you're having a rough time. Just wanted to reply about your BP, because my sister had exactly this. She had pre-eclampsia with both her pregnancies, but whereas the first time the high BP vanished as soon as she gave birth, the second time it didn't go down at all afterwards and was pretty dangerously high (doctors are so comforting, aren't they - she wanted to discharge herself after her DS was born, and they said 'we can't stop you, but if you walk out now you could have a stroke' Sad). Anyway, that was 2 years ago, and although she has basically been told that she now has high BP for life, it really hasn't been too bad. She lost lots of weight and is much fitter than she's been for years, and the BP is now much lower than before, with only the need for the most minor medication. It took a while to get the right medication level, but once it was sorted she was fine. Oh, and she also bf'ed for a good couple of months after DS was born, definitely while she was taking the medication, so they must have found something that worked ok.

Hope that helps. If you have any specific qus about meds or anything, let me know and I'm happy to ask her.

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/08/2010 13:31

[syrup and pancakes for me too - better late than never!]

morning/afternoon everyone :)

had quite an emotional morning because our cat still hasn't come home after 10 days and I had this really strong sense that he came to say goodbye last night. i'm not usually a complete whack job either but it felt very real and all this strange stuff started happening with the electrics in our room (was about 3:30am) and I really felt like he'd been there. woke up hysterical this morning - i'm very attached to our wee cats, have had them nearly 2 years since they were only really small kittens Sad

DH and FIL put up some really good shelves in our living room this morning tho, and I left some stuff down to the charity shop so feel like the house is really looking pretty good and baby-ready now, and went to Starbucks for a frappucino with my sis so feeling a bit less emotional now. Thank goodness!!

Going to go for some lunch now and to get car washed, think we're going to fit car seat tomorrow and then have last MW appt on Monday. Days are kind of rushing past, but like weehector i'm also feeling a bit antsy and wish LO would get here soon!

Alicetheinvisible · 07/08/2010 17:48

Ok, so who is having their babies today? Hmm? Wink

LittleMiss sorry to hear about your cat Sad

vitapulchra · 07/08/2010 19:26

Hmmm-very quiet here. Everyone must be busy either tending their newbies, labouring with their newbies, or nesting for their newbies. Hope all is well . . .

Cazzy--Very sorry for how you're feeling. I don't have the least idea about bp and medication but I hope you at least are given good care you can have confidence in that seems the best for you and Poppy. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks everyone for your pity, which I loved! DS2's fever still hasn't broken and he was up EVERY HOUR last night, but still seemed a bit more cheerful today and we're hoping for a better night. Thankfully he has no other symptoms so I don't feel worried about him, just very sorry. Also hurrah for the weekend as DH and I have been taking shifts napping/caring for dc's and regaining our sanity. Smile We're getting an Indian takeaway tonight and then going straight to sleep! Have a good weekend, everyone.

OP posts:
LittleMissSnowShine · 07/08/2010 19:30

Takeaway for us tonight too, vita! Going to stick with a Chinese tho since I've had a few curries in last week or so and the spicy stuff hasn't had any effect lol

I'm bloody shattered this evening, energy levels just go up and down. Managed to make it out in the sunshine for a walk today - anything to encourage LO's head to engage ;)

have a mice evening everyone!!

Chulita · 07/08/2010 20:04

I went into labour the night after a curry Grin I think it had more to do with the cinema trip I had planned with DH though, 1st time in 2 years and I go into labour...freaking typical!

Hope your cat turns up snowshine they do sometimes go a-wandering, fingers crossed he's just having an adventure.

vita hope your DS gets better soon!

cazzy sorry you've had such crappy news, I think GP's sometimes give you worst case scenario...I hope things sort themselves out!

Sam's been needing cuddles all day which would be fine but I've got a toddler who can't understand. I really feel like I'm neglecting her at the mo :( can't wait til his feeds settle down to a regular pattern.

Emster30 · 07/08/2010 22:40

took j for his first trip into london today - went via train, tube anddlr to greenwi h, met inlaws, took boat to south bank, went to pizza express and then home by tube. hope it will have tired him out - could do with a good night tonight please!

marzipananimal · 07/08/2010 23:06

wow emster I'm impressed you did all that with a newborn - I think I might just hobernate for a month or so!

Just got back from a 'surpise' (although I sort of knew) baby shower my friends organised for me :) Got lots of really cute presents and ate lots of cake and chocolate fondue Grin. Trying to decide whether to wait up for DH (he went to cinema with mates) so I can show him all the presents tonight. Hm, maybe sleep is more important (although I had a lovely long nap this afternoon so feeling very cheerful today)

aendr · 08/08/2010 06:20

Hmm I don't manage to post for a few days and everything starts to happen! And there's so much to read, I've totally lost track of who has done what.

Congratulations to all those who have popped.

Emster wow, that's impressive with a newborn.

I'm still around, no news, just been rather busy with the toddler who has just started waking in the night again. Great timing! And now I can't sleep this morning, despite the rest of the household snoozing away and it being my DH's turn to do the early-morning get up with the toddler.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 09:56

Congratulations To Neenz!!!!!!!!

mrsZaC · 08/08/2010 11:20

yey, congrats Neez I presume it's her, (putting 2 & 2 together from her fbook update..)

vix sorry to hear about your iron levels, can you not ask for another appointment just to reassure yourself? I hope I don't get low iron, my digestion is bad enough as it is without being preggers and those tablets sound nasty! Can't believe your buyer, tell her to politely get stuffed!! they can't possibly expect a woman ready to pop to move, and anyways your right, the solicitors stuff takes ages anyway.

LOVING your postman littlemiss our post is crap in Glasgow, always getting missed delivery notes when we were actually IN! and the sorting office is miles away and can take 25 minutes to drive to - grrrr!!! I'm sorry but do you not pay for it to be delivered to your HOME.

littlemiss sorry to hear about your cat, i hope he/she turns up soon :)

Sorry not been on a couple of days, been busy busy! dog & cat sitting at my parents for a few days which you would think i would take as a chance to chill out from all the nesting I'm doing, but no! yesterday I took the (old) dog for a long walk, nice lunch with DH then back to the flat to paint the nursery again, potter around and then drive an hour back to mum & dads only to find my hungry brother and his girlfriend had decided to come and keep me company (DH was heading out with the lads last night) so made dinner for them (brother can't cook to save himself) and didn't sit down on my butt properly until 10:00pm!! needless to say I was shattered! really felt like an old lady yesterday, pains in my hips, knees, back and puffy hands.. you would have thought that would have slowed me down, but no! Anyways I'm going to try to resist going back to the flat for a couple of days and chill out here, nursery cream wall needs another coat and then I'm done - yey! but grimacing at the thought of doing it (DH away at work tonight for 2 weeks!). Mum to be massage on tuesday, a pressie from the nice folks at work, so really looking forward to that. Hope your all having lovely Sundays, soo jealous of all that pancake talk, think I'll have a peanut butter and bananna sandwich for brekkie....

xxx

LittleMissSnowShine · 08/08/2010 11:23

Ooh congrats Neenz! I'm not on facebook but I assume there's an update there??

How exciting!! Found my old camera and leads today, I was going to stick it up on gumtree to sell but think will keep it til after LO arrives because it's really small and compact so will be great for hospital bag - my other camera is a Sony and it's got fab video and great quality images but it's a bit cumbersome for labour ward lol

Was great finding all these old pics from last year I'd forgotten about - hen party, wedding, honeymoon, parties etc. Almost forgotten life before pregnancy Wink

It's all coming back to me now tho!!

thedogwalker · 08/08/2010 13:22

Hello all, hope everyone is well.

I can honestly say, that I'm now getting fed up, LO is due a week today and I just want him to arrive, like now Grin so I've started my first plan!!!!

TMI alert, Wink bless my DH as he's not overly happy about it, but I jumped on him this morning and told him to expect more throughout the day. So lets see if jiggy jiggy does do anything for the onset of labour.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 13:26

Grin Dog it is apparently the only thing proven to work! DH would be delighted but i find i get too many contractions this time around to make it bearable anymore.

summerymummy · 08/08/2010 13:41

hey ladies, just popped on to give my quick birth announcement, baby boy born at home this morning at 08:38am weighing 10lb 6oz (exactly the same as my first baby! weird!). no name as yet. brilliant birth experience, will write a longer birth story in a few days, congrats to all those who have popped and hang in there those still waiting, hopefully not too long now!! xx

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 13:47

Congratulations!!

loobyt · 08/08/2010 14:16

Congrats summerymummy!

mrsZaC · 08/08/2010 14:48

yey congrats summerymummy LOL at dogwalker every DH's dream Wink

thedogwalker · 08/08/2010 14:51
