Having a bit of a panic over the fact i am due to give birth tomorrow (yes i know it probably won't happen, but it is my due date) Seriously freaking out about it! DH is putting the crib together at the moment and it feels way too early Confused

JessieEssex · 08/08/2010 18:13

Hi everyone and huge congratulations to the new mums! I've been lurking for a while and have my details on the August list. I'm due in 12 days and I'm really hoping that I don't go over but I'm expecting to as it's my first baby. However, I've been feeling increasingly strange over the last week or so and having strong period-type pains at night along with very strong BHs in the daytime. Also increasingly stroppy and emotional (poor DH). I guess that these are general signs that things are moving on, but I'd really like someone to say 'yes, it sounds like you will give birth in about 10 days'! Grin

It's lovely to read all your stories and chat and I hope that I can contribute over the next few weeks!

Aussieng · 08/08/2010 18:22

Yeay! Congrats summermummy and looking forward to hearing about neenz!

jessie I had period type cramps for about a week prior to popping :) but some on here have had them for longer than that I think.

alice hun (sorry unmumsnet I know) don't worry - when the time comes you'll be ready. There's almost nothing material that has to be done before lo arrives.

vitapulchra · 08/08/2010 19:02

Well done to neenz & summerymummy I'm a bit unhappy that a few more early Aug babies aren't here (tho maybe we just don't know yet)..I'm thinking alice & coffeelady may be up next..no logical sense, just thinking of all the lifestyle nesting & baking going on in those houses..

Apparently, jiggy doesn't work in Weehectorland (and apparently there's no room 'in there' so I won't be getting any more sweet loving until I'm a mummy) Neither does curry. We've had a lovely day here lazing with French toast, coffee & the sunday papers...has been nice to actually appreciate quiet time together rather than wishing the time away. Still hope it's our last one together as just a couple though.

Off out for a walk along the shore & a coffee now then it'll be back to our nightly cinemafest. Fri/Sat was an American football fest - Friday Night Lights, Blindside & Varsity Blues - with ice-cream, pizza & beer (yay for becks blue). Have hankering for Chinese or Japanese food (so maybe Tampopo, Eat, Drink, Man, Woman to go with a big bowl of noodles) or a feel good film like Bombon (homemade empanadas?). Last week's Little Miss Sunshine & American Beauty were definitely mistakes..sent me trudging off to bed in hormonal, nihilist misery. Maybe Forrest Gump or Marley & Me?

pample going back a few days here as I rarely read other than on the iPhone these days. I never did get the bag of my dreams but I did pick up a Lin & Leo changing bag to see me through til I find one though..:(

JamieJay · 08/08/2010 19:34

Congratulations to neenz & summerymummy.

alice it is scary isn't it, but at the end you'll have a beautiful baby and it will be all worth it.

dog hope DH can keep up Grin

Jessie sounds promising, and know what you mean on the emotional front - keep having to warn DH that I'm not a happy bunny and to ignore my temper tantrums.

weehector you're day sounds lovely, understand what you mean about hoping it your last one as a couple though.

With summerymummy both people due the same day as me have popped, better get a move on and get this baby out. Had what I think was a bloody show this morning and have had on and off cramping type period pains throughout the day which have been bloody uncomfortable. Not progressing to anything more though so will wait and see what the morning brings.

Midwife due mid morning for a sweep (40+7) so hopefully that might kick things off.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 19:42

I have calmed down a bit now, went into labour on my due date with DD so feeling that it has a very good possibility of happening tomorrow.

Jamie could be you tomorrow?

JamieJay · 08/08/2010 19:56

Alice hopefully it will be both of us tomorrow Grin

Haven't had a twinge in almost and hour so think this is just practise run, hopefully it means cervix will be a little more ready for the sweep though - am more nervous about that than actually giving birth Blush

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 20:00

I will be having a sweep done on tuesday if nothing by then as trying for a vbac. Not sure i will definitely have one though as not sure how effective they are.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 20:02

Vita Star and Neenz have had theirs too

JamieJay · 08/08/2010 20:08

Alice I've ummed and ahhed about the sweep issue for the last few weeks and have come to the conclusion that I might as well try it and it may avoid the need for an induction but if it gets to painful I'm asking the midwife to stop immediately and will see if nature will takes its course

vitapulchra · 08/08/2010 20:27

I know but I have no details to post! If anyone knows any more than me please tell me and I'll duly update the list.

And congratulations to Star and Neenz!

ElusiveMoose · 08/08/2010 20:43

Hi all,

Huge congratulations to Neenz and summerymummery!! Can't wait to hear more about the new babies!

Well, I've had an eventful 24 hours. Really thought something was happening last night - I felt very sick and just generally odd, and then started having mild contractions about every 20 minutes for a couple of hours in the night. Must have fallen asleep, though, and this morning - nada. Then today, I realised that I basically hadn't felt the baby move all day, and panicked a bit - downed a huge glass of water and piece of cake, but nothing. Phoned the hospital who told me to come in - baby started to wriggle a bit as I was pulling into the car park, naturally. They monitored me for 20 minutes, and the baby was moving so violently that it was really painful Grin Blush. So everything's absolutely fine, and I got sent straight home again (lovely MW as well, I hope I get her in labour!).

By the way Alice, I'm so glad you said that about contractions during sex. DH and I did the deed (well, not actually the deed, but similar Grin) for the first time in weeks the other day, and the baby movements/contractions went absolutely crazy. And it was weird, it wasn't just the actual physical 'stuff' that caused it - even the anticipation caused contractions, IYKWIM Blush. I found it a bit weird, TBH.

mrsZaC · 08/08/2010 22:15

does anyone else give bump hickups after sex? I've noticed it a few times now, poor baby!

DH is away now for 2 weeks, due back a week before D-date! I have no idea why but I keep having this feeling I'm going to go early, but what do I know, I've never done it before!!

hope things kick off soon for you alice and jamie!

thecoffeelady · 08/08/2010 22:45

Still waiting here. Had a lovely day though, we took DD swimming this morning which she loved. She was jumping in off the sides and everything. We didn't put armbands or anything on, I used to swim for Hampshire (a lifetime ago) and I was always taught without them, so I figured she could have some old school swimming lessons! Watched some the BTCC on ITV4, then I had a lovely nap while DP took DD to the park.

Just had pizza and salad for tea and now watching Sherlock on V+.

Baby feels far to wriggly to be arriving tomorrow, I am having reflexology at 10 tomorrow morning so maybe that will kick start things.

I will keep you posted!

JamieJay · 08/08/2010 23:31

ElusiveMoose glad everything was okay but sorry things didn't progress on the contraction front. It's sods law that as soon as you get to the hospital they start wriggling - has happened to me twice now!

MrsZaC bump was doing all sorts of odd things after the last time I had sex - was tres odd and a little freaky!

coffee have heard that baby can get a bit hyper just before birth so you never know!

Have had some more cramping here but it seems to have no real pattern yet and is only affecting the bottom of my bump so not convinced it's anything real.

Had another show though, (aorry TMI) quite orange this time with more blood streaks. KNow this is normal but after m/c last time and a threatened m/c in this pregnancy it makes me very nervous to see anything blood like Hmm Never thought of myself as neurotic!

thedogwalker · 09/08/2010 08:27

Good morning all.

Hope those wishing for today, get their wish Smile.

Well jiggy jiggy didn't work. Made the LO move all day and all flaming night, not had much sleep, but I'm no nearer to seeing him, bugger!!!!

Hope everyone has a great monday

Alicetheinvisible · 09/08/2010 08:49

Hello ladies Smile

Happy due date to me and Coffeelady lets hope one of us will soon be having our babies.

I seem to have constant painful BH, was up last night with quite painful ones/possible contractions, but now it is just a constant tight, sore bump. Despite having a panic over having a baby yesterday, i have decided it needs to come out. I am getting rattier and rattier with DD and DH and it is not fair.

ElusiveMoose · 09/08/2010 09:34

Alice it's funny, I feel quite similar - not ready in some ways, but impatient in others. Actually, I wasn't really impatient at all until I went to the hospital yesterday - there was something about being in the maternity ward that suddenly made me really want the baby to arrive.

By the way, a quick word re sweeps - don't assume that you'll definitely be able to have one, even if you're booked in for one. With DS, the MW tried to do a sweep at 41 weeks but couldn't - my cervix was still so high and tight that she didn't have a hope of reaching. All a bit of an anti-climax (and DS clearly wasn't ready, as he didn't arrive until 6 days later.

Jamie I can understand how you feel, but try to just keep telling yourself that a show is really good news!! As far as I understand it, it means you're by definition starting to dilate. And remember the baby's totally cooked now, so even if something did happen, like some bleeding, they could just whip the baby out and she'd be fine Smile (I speak from sort of experience - my mum had threatened MCs throughout her first pregnancy, and then a huge haemorrhage at 37 weeks, but was still able to have a vaginal birth, albeit swiftly induced).

Having a blessedly peaceful morning. DS is at pre-school, no builders have arrived as yet, and I don't really have anything left on my to do list. Think I'll sit down and read the paper for a change.

vix206 · 09/08/2010 09:36

Hey everyone! I hope neenz comes on soon to tell us about her baby - I don't think I am friends with get on facebook as I haven't seen any new baby announcements on there for a while.

If baking is a sign let me tell you I have been baking like mad. In the last 3 days I have made:

Brownies
Banana bread
Raspberry muffins
Blueberry muffins
2 loaves of bread
Oatmeal cookies
2 batches of scones

Most of the above are in the freezer for a later date :)

I could just bake day and night which is not like me at all. No other signs though, am 39 weeks today and well ready to meet baby now :)

vix206 · 09/08/2010 09:37

Oh dear iPhone strikes again! Friends with get should have said friends with her!!

Nikalah · 09/08/2010 09:38

Morning!

Congratulations all you new mummies! Very excited & Envy of you all!!

Still nothing from me! Last night got quite upset about things. I'm not getting any BH and after having a sweep and a Bishops Score (never heard of it before) of just 3 on Friday the earliest they can call me in for an induction was the 15th. After some complaining this morning they've moved it forward to the 14th??!!

Going over due date really sucks - my anxiety levels are going through the roof.

Acupunture booked for tomorrow and will see if I can get a reflexology appt today... but this is costing a fortune!

Wish I had something more positive to post.

marzipananimal · 09/08/2010 09:42

wow vix that's impressive! My DH would be very happy if my nesting started to manifest itself that way soon!

Congratulations on the new babies Grin Can't wait to hear about them (and can't wait to join you - finding these last couple of weeks rather boring). Have told LO to start things off on Tuesday evening - DH is in Birmingham for the day. Do you think babies ever listen?!

marzipananimal · 09/08/2010 09:44

poor you nikalah :( Really hope things get going for you soon. Baby must be very happy and comfy inside you

girlsyearapart · 09/08/2010 09:51

congrats to neenz and summery Grin

Tilly 2 weeks old now- I now need to stop eating biscuits 24/7 boring..

Mix feeding going ok she doesn't look impressed when I give her a bottle though much better if it's someone else

I'm far too chicken and paranoid to co sleep have to struggle to stay awake
