glad you and aidan are home bubbabear. Nothing happening here I'm afraid. I was all hopeful after you went early that I'd be early too or at least on time but no such luck! Oh well, can't be pregnant for ever...

isheisnthe · 23/08/2010 05:41

OUCH - and not because of the little man Still inside me and now 5 days over due. I snapped a bit off a back molar crunching ice at around 7 mohts - the dentist packed it and said to come back when the baby was born and now I am sure its infected! I am in total agony (hence being up at this time!) - I have some amoxicillin (full precription) that was prescribed for something unrelated that I didn't end up needing - should I start taking these do you think, or try and go back - I really can't see her doing anything at this stage of the game but nor can I keep taking paracetamol - someone? Am beginning to feel very teary and low so am sure its infected :-(

LittleMissSnowShine · 23/08/2010 06:41

isheisnthe - Def phone dentist first thing this morning. Sounds like that tooth def needs checked out asap, but I wouldn't like to start taking amoxcillin without having spoken to a doctor or dentist first. Always best to be on the safe side!! Hope you feel better soon...

I can't sleep either Hmm For some reason there was lots of activity going on outside on Saturday night, doors banging, taxis, gangs of people milling around and it kept me awake so I was really looking forward to going to bed early last night. But still managed to wake up at 4ish...grr!! Oh well, might as well get used to nights of broken sleep lol

Hope everyone else is well - after a lovely, sunny, summery weekend it's a horrible rainy morning here Angry

Bubbabear · 23/08/2010 07:54

Alice I feel ur pain! I had the same thing when my milk came in, I literally went up a bra size in 24 hours & suddenly nothing fitted! Only thing was I wasnt able to get the milk out for feeds or expressing so it just kept building up & getting more painful & it was so sore to even lie down in bed. Had lots of advice but nothing seemed to work to relieve the pressure, although nobody told me about the sucking on a malteaser pain relief option Wink Will have to try that out next time I so much as stub my toe / get a paper cut... just to test the theory of course!

Seriously though, just wanted to say big respect to you for managing to perservere with the breastfeeding, sounds like you are doing really well for ur LO. Same goes for everyone else having difficulties but managing to continue for as long as you can x

Vita could you please change the spelling of my LO's name from Aiden to Aidan on the list please. Little thing I know but have just noticed it's wrong & the teacher in me needs it corrected! Blush Thanks!

isheisnthe · 23/08/2010 09:36

Ouch - no appointments until tomorrow ;-(

LizzieA · 23/08/2010 09:38

I'm still here, I'm still pregnant! I'm currently blaming the NHS cutbacks for my lack of spontaneous labour Wink, nowt to do with my little man being far too comfortable! I've got a midwife apt at 5.30 for a sweep. I'm not even feeling pissed off today at being plus 8, I think I've run out of emotions and resigned myself to the fact that I will be pregnant forever!

Dibbydab · 23/08/2010 10:49

Poor Aidan sounds awful. Felicity got an eye infection yesterday, even through my new mother "I've got the most beautiful baby in the world" rose tinted spectacles, I had to admit she looked pretty gross with gunk oozing out of the corner of her eye, though it didn't seem to be bothering her in the slightest - fortunately we have a really good out of hours GP practice, and they faxed a prescription to a chemist nearby so we could pick up some ointment without having to take her into our local walk in clinic. Not bad for tea time on a Sunday. Her eye is looking better already and she's fine in herself.

Vita could you update the list to show Felicity's weight as 7lb 3oz and my age to 35 - somehow I've managed to have a birthday last week which barely registered with me, though there were several arrivals on that day (19th), so I like to think I was sending some of you ladies birthday vibes without realising it!

Time is a strange thing - the 3 weeks running up to the birth seemed to be the longest ever, but the 3 weeks since she's been here have gone in a flash. DH has gone back to work today and we are flying solo, doing OK so far, but it's not quite 11am yet...

vix206 · 23/08/2010 10:49

Hello all! First of all just wanted to say thank you so much for all your kind thoughts about DH - who is at work and fully better now :) And thanks Aussieng for thinking of ways to help, that was so sweet!

Bubba - how scary for you I am so glad that Aidan is home now and hope he continues to get better and better!

I just had a sweep, while she was here she noticed I was having Braxton Hicks contractions very regularly, I just was not aware of them at all! I am now, just had another :) Anyway, it was not pleasant but very quick and not as bad as I had feared. Cervix is low, forward and soft and I am 2cm dilated - they are hopeful I will go into labour naturally today or tomorrow but have booked me for an induction next Monday if nothing happens sooner. I would have to go in Sunday night. Great way to spend a bank holiday (and our 14th anniversary of when we met!)

I am really hoping it won't come to that anyway, I so want my home waterbirth.

Have a great day ladies, thinking birthing thoughts for all of us waiting!

mrsZaC · 23/08/2010 12:17

ouch alice! sounds very painful, hope it eases soon.

yey bubba glad you and lo are home now

woo hoo go vix can't wait to hear about the arrival of baby vix, I knew he wouldn't keep you too long :)

I need your advice girls, I'm pretty sure I've just had a show, I noticed a little when I was doing my perenium massage about 15 min ago and put on some fresh pants afterwards just to see if anything else came of it. Just been for a pee there and there was lots of clear stringy stuff like egg white! I'm so excited, now I know this doesn't really mean anything other than in can be days or weeks but I need your ladies advice....

Hubby is due home tomorrow at 8:20pm, I have an appointment with the midwife in Glasgow at 9:15am tomorrow so thought I would head over (still at my parents 1 hr from Glasgow) and stay on my own tonight.. now I'm pretty sure I've had a show I'm not so confident in leaving the house... sooo do I just head back home to Glasgow and ride it out for the night, or stay here with mum & dad and get up early to go to the midwife AND should I come back here, or just wait it out until hubby gets home? aghhhhh!!?

small dilema I know, but I would hate to be on my own if I went into spontanious labour. Other than that I'm soooooo excited!!!

x

loobyt · 23/08/2010 12:48

Hello all, just a quick post to annouce the safe (and swift arrival - 1hour 20mins from start to finsh Shock) of Matilda 7 lbs and 4 oz. Delivered at home last night partly by the paramedics and partly by DH!

Not got time to read though today but good luck vix and will catch up later on.

vix206 · 23/08/2010 12:52

Wow looby! Congrats!!

Yay mrsZaC! A show! I'm still waiting for anything like that... if I were you I would stay put at your parents for now. I'm on my own all day but with the knowledge DH is only 20 mins away when I need him, and we're in almost constant contact.

Feeling a bit odd at the moment like I'm having one big long painless Braxton Hicks all the time. Well, I can feel it when it starts, but finding it hard to pinpoint when it dissipates..... a bit odd.

mrsZaC · 23/08/2010 12:59

Shock @ looby, huge congrats on the safe arrival of you little Matilda :)

vix I think that is best, just spoke to DH, he couldn't appear less enthused, but I think he's just pooping it!! he basically can't get off any sooner than he already is but I told him not to worry as it could be a long time. Anyways I'm starting to doubt myself is it still a show if there is no hint of blood?

x

Emster30 · 23/08/2010 13:14

how exciting mrs zac! i had a showjust like that on the wednesday and went into labour on the saturday. if i was you i'd stay with your parents just in case!

vix206 · 23/08/2010 13:21

mrsZaC no blood doesn't mean it wasn't a show so don't worry about that! x

mrsZaC · 23/08/2010 13:36

cool thanks girls, I knew you would help me out. Lets hope I'm baby producing in a few days and not a few hours, that would be nice :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 23/08/2010 13:53

mrszac - woo hoo!! Altho, speaking as someone due 5 days before you... grrr... Angry lol I would prob stay with your parents, just to be on the safe side and you can figure out what to do about your appointment in the morning when you get a bit closer to the time. For all you know, you might be in labour by then!!

Question - Last time I saw my MW was a fortnight ago, at 37 weeks and since I have a hospital appt this Friday she decided there was no point in me seeing her again since I was feeling pretty good, blood pressure fine etc. A couple of days after I last saw her, tho, the SPD pain from hell began so I'm not sure what to do. The pain is just about manageable if I wear the support thing, take tiny steps everywhere, don't bend over and spend a lot of time on sofa or birth ball. But everything I've read keeps banging on about how SPD can really affect labour etc and how wide you can open your legs (sorry TMI lol) and how it's really important to be assessed in advance of this so the MWs know what your limits are, ie. in the case of an epidural when you can't feel anything from the waist down or trying to get in and out of the birth pool.

So I'm not sure what to do - will it be ok to wait until hospital appt this Friday (when I'm 39+6) or do you think I should phone the doctor tomorrow?

neenz · 23/08/2010 14:00

Looby, wow well done! That's so quick and how exciting to be delivered by paramedics and your DH! My friend had the same thing a few years back. I was hoping my labour was would be that quick too but sadly not EnvyGrin. Still, 6hrs was not so bad for me.

MrsZac, if you head home is there someone who can take you to hospital if you do go into labour? If not then stay at your mum's!

Congrats to all other new arrivals Smile

Daniel is being a complete milk monster - he wants to feed about every 30mins. he is piling on the weight too not surprisingly.

girlsyearapart · 23/08/2010 15:19

congrats looby lovely name- great minds think alike Smile

LizzieA · 23/08/2010 15:43

I'm booked in for a sweep at 5.30 this evening at the hospital midwife clinic. I'd normally see my own midwife at the doctors surgery but the session was fully booked and my own midwife is off this week too - she said that otherwise she would have just made an extra appointment at the end of the session - she really is lovely.

At lunchtime a community midwife phoned me to say that they are a "little bit" short staffed for the evening clinic and could I change my appointment to Wednesday or Thursday please?
Erm, no I'm plus 8 as it is! Obviously I told her that I couldn't wait until then and she told me to come up tonight and I will be seen after all.
I've just been thinking about the situation and I really do think it's terrible of them to even suggest cancelling my appointment. I'm 40 +8 and haven't been checked in a week, anything could be happening! Luckily I've got my head screwed on and was willing and able to argue my case as to why I will be seen this evening but I've been thinking about other mums to be who may not be aware of the dangers and risks of late pegnancy or quite as bolshy forthright as I am. I just think it was really irresponsible of them to even suggest it!

Anyway since then I've been to Asda for a stock up on snacks, drinks, sweets etc and also had a couple of shows yipeee! Hopefully this baby is thinking of making an appearance under his own volition.

vitapulchra · 23/08/2010 16:01

Bubbabear I've made the correction. That would bother me to no end so thank you for pointing it out to me! I have an unusual first name and I've spent my entire life explaining to people how to spell it properly.

Dibby I have Felicity's weight. I've dropped all our ages and locations as the list was going to be very, very long then. Hope that's all right.

loobyt Congratulations!!! I feel particularly interested in your birth story as I am thinking/hoping mine will go much the same way. Post it when you can! Hope you're recovering well and enjoying lovely cuddles with Matilda.

Congrats Looby how very exciting!! Love the name Matilda.

Lots more babies in the next few days i think.

Had a bit of a shock last night and this morning. Fred brought up a bit of milk last night with a blood clot in, looked it up and most likely is due to bleeding nipples. Had a very good night where he fed for 20mins then slept for 2 1/2hrs at a time. This morning i had the breast pump on (have to express a bit off before latching him on) and the milk was red due to so much blood Confused Again, looked it up and advice was to keep feeding if possible and it has got better throughout the day, with the help of some natural mum and baby balm. Didn't think i would persevere with these problems, but he is so contented with being BF and was not keen on expressed milk, so going to carry on.

Aussieng · 23/08/2010 17:47

Gosh Alice - well done for continuing with this. That would have freaked me out!

Lizzie - they don't start monitoring overdue MTB here until 40+10 anyway!

thedogwalker · 23/08/2010 18:10

Congratulations to everyone who has popped in last few days. sorry not been able to kee up with all the posts.

LizzieA Yippee on the show, maybe you won't need the sweep afterall.

Well after 9.5 hours little baby Thomas Rhys was born at 0226 hours on Saturday 21 August. The birth didn't complelety follow my birth plan, as I had some complications resulting in a heavy loss of blood and me having to stay in hospital for monitoring.

We are both now home safe and well. It may not have gone exactly to plan, but I wouldn't change it for the world. My man is gorgeous.

I will post my birth story when I feel a bit better......first day home and my milk is in already OUCH!!!!!!

thedogwalker · 23/08/2010 18:15

Ooops sorry here's the missing info for the arrivals info

0226 hours, 21 August, (due 15 August) 7 lbs 4 oz, #1, Thomas Rhys Grin

vix206 · 23/08/2010 18:47

Congrats dogwalker - I was wondering about you :) So glad all is well :)

TMI Alert!! I just read LizzieA's post and went off to the loo feeling really envious that I haven't had any kind of show at all - and then I found I have had quite a big show (bloody). So excited now - really hope this is the start!! xx

Lizzie if you read this I hope your sweep helps things along!
