Oh, she weighed 9lbs! X

vix206 · 21/08/2010 16:15

Congrats tah! Lcrlcr normally I'd agree but as someone so fit and healthy, the fact this illness had him collapsing in the bathroom struggling to breathe has really scared us both. And poor dh feels so unwell and so guilty about being ill.

I'm trying not to show him how upset I am but this feels like a nightmare. I just hope so hard that I don't catch it and that he gets well really quickly. He's munching on a couple of digestives quite enthusiastically so that's a good sign I guess!

LittleMissSnowShine · 21/08/2010 16:49

vix - nightmare scenario! hope things work out for your home birth, take good care of yourself and DH over next few days and get plenty of rest. poor you!!

i'm getting kicked to bits today - not sure if this is LO gearing up for arrival or just trying to make sure we haven't forgotten he or she is in there. some chance lol

going to try and sneak a quick hour's nap before i head out for a curry this evening, feeling really shattered today, prob the warm, close weather...

hope everyone else has a nice saturday evening planned - with babies or with bars of chocolate Wink

Jaysfourth · 21/08/2010 18:44

Vix - poor you, and DH. its just horrid isnt it. I was really poorly two days before DD ( my first LO) but tbh, by the time labour descended on me i forgot about my sickness and ill feeling and was overcome by the labour feelings! Hope DH gets over at least the worst of it beofre you need him to be strong for you!

Congratulations to one and all with new arrivals, they are coming thick and fast now!!

LCR - i could do with some reflexology... in face i could just do with anyone giving my feet some rubbing. come the middle of the afternoon they are so swollen they hurt :( DH trys, but doesnt really get the whole rubbing continuously thing, and stops every two mins, i have to shake my feet to remind him what hes doing!!!

Well i am still hospitalised, have now secured my own room, so at least i dont get woken by every little thing. Before i was moved last night, a lady went into labour very suddenly on my bay, she had been admitted only an hour earlier. Went to have a bath, started screaming, midwives managed to get her onto a bed in my bay, said they would just examine her quickly to find they were presented with babies head and her being fully dilated! I was sat in my bed all the while listening in, i was a bit gutted when they decided there was enough time to move her round to labour suite.... she gave birth within minutes of arriving there - it was her first as well!!!

My consultant today said she could feel babys head DOWN.....and while i am already to embrace this good news, i was told the same thinglast weekend, only to find out at the scan she wasnt......scans are the only way i can accept anything now! Anyway, i am still keeping Tuesday in mind ( when i will be 40 weeks) this is dday and hopefully will organise the ECV and controlled ARM... hopefully this induction will lead to me having my baby quickly and without complications!! we shall see.

So i hope all those waiting dont have to wait too much longer and those who have their babes are enjoying them fully. Sorry to read about some BF difficulties. Things always work themselves out which ever path you take!!

Have a good sat eve, i have the joyus hospital sized tv screen to watch Xfactor on :(

xx

foxyjbro99 · 21/08/2010 20:31

Is the arrivals room more occupied that the waiting room now!!?? Scarey!!!
Oh yeah, I'm now 31 - birthday on the 6th, got treated to a lie in and a pedicure!! Hopefully will be treated to some new clothes too once lo has arrived & I've shifted a few pounds (or stone)!!
c

LittleMissSnowShine · 21/08/2010 21:02

jays - glad you're hanging in there, my feet are swollen too! cankles doesn't even come into it...water balloons lol and cos i have SPD i can't bend down anywhere near them so i keep forgetting how puffy they look until i lie on the sofa and swing them into view Wink
hope that baby stays head down for you and enjoy x factor!

foxy - i did a bit of an online shopping spree a couple of days ago on Modcloth just to have some nice autumny things for september and october. i know i'll be a bit too frazzled to shop when baby gets here but i still want to look nice!! def cheered me up, shopping can be very therapeutic Grin

ElusiveMoose · 21/08/2010 21:18

Hi all,

No time to catch up yet, but just wanted to let you know that baby Seth FINALLY arrived on Thursday night at 22:11, weighing in at 8 pounds 1. Will fill in the details later. In a nutshell, I had an interminable early labour (bad), followed by a quick natural delivery using G&A and birthing pool (brilliant), followed by retained placenta AGAIN (bad). But actually, in spite of the early bit and the placenta removal, my memories of the birth as a whole are really positive, because the main event was so great. I think, after my ventouse last time and the slow progress of this labour initially, I had really begun to doubt that I was actually capable of giving birth naturally, and it felt so wonderful Smile.

We got home today, and little Seth is doing well. At the moment he appears to sleep all day and feed all night, which is a little tiring, but pretty common I think.

Congrats to any other arrivals I missed (must be [Alice], at least) - I'll try and have a read back through tomorrow, if Seth gives me a chance!

mrsZaC · 21/08/2010 21:52

owh sparkle LOL at your DH, typical!! and yes I can forgive you (just) and I think I shall keep your lovely offer of chochy cake till tomorrow as I'm just tucking into some courgette cake that my lovely mum has made [hands out the spoils to whomever fancies some]

owh vix sounds like a nightmare, very unhelpful advice but try not to worry too much, all will work out well in the end, I'm sure of it.

congrats tah2 on the birth of your daughter, lovely name :)

jays sorry to hear your still waiting in hospital, how rude of that lady to skip the queue! I hope your little on doesn't keep you waiting in there too much longer.

lovely to hear from you elusive and big congrats on the safe arrival of baby Seth. So glad you can look back positively from the experience :)

Not much to report from me, lots of aches and pains today, feel like an old lady! Only 3 more days till DH is home!! :D

soontobefatnat · 21/08/2010 22:06

Congrats Tah and Elusive - starting to get a bit lonely on this side of the fence!

Weehector - lots of positive breastfeeding vibes coming your way. I hope it all suddenly clicks for you.

Vix - God, I'm so sorry. What awful timing for you. I hope that your DH makes a really speedy recovery and that you get the birth that you've hoped for.

Had a lovely meal out here - it was DH's birthday last night and is mine on Monday (LO's due date is Wednesday) so we thought it would be nice to have what's probably (hopefully?!!) our final meal out before the big day. Now knackered though, but might need to snaffle a piece of the Hummingbird cake I baked for DH yesterday from the fridge before hitting the hay.... mmm... chocolatey goodness...

vitapulchra · 21/08/2010 23:24

Congratulations Tah and Elusive! Grin Grin Elusive, you FINALLY gave birth! I'm so happy for you! And there I'd been hoping your 2nd stage would be brilliant to make up for the first--sounds like it was. Hurray!!! Well done, ladies!

Vix I've been feeling very sorry for you and your poor DH. Many wishes that he recovers quickly and that you go quite overdue so LO can wait for him! Also consider that perhaps the dr you saw could've been pessimisticyou've already been exposed to your DH's virus, so trying to stay away now seems pointless. Plus you're not sick (yet). Try to hold off on the worry until the worst actually happens. And for your labourperhaps DH will be well enough to be there by then. We're all hoping things will work out for your and your DH's health and comfort. Best wishes!

Congrats elusive!! Just popping on to say dh seems much better, the usual weakness and v tired but he seems on the mend and reckons he'll be ok to support me now. Just need to still be a bit careful on the hygiene front in terms of baby.

I'm awake due to leg cramps, so just checked on on my iPhone. Good night all x

babyducky · 22/08/2010 07:47

Congrats everyone :)

Hope your DH is better soon vix, xx

I was booked in to be induced this morning, but for the last few hours I've been having contractions & I've had 3 shows! So hopefully this is it now!

Have a good day all x

Jaysfourth · 22/08/2010 08:36

excellent news Babyducky :) hope it all goes well for you

Bubbabear · 22/08/2010 08:56

Just popping on as i haven't had a chance to check in for what feels like an age! Will come to the reason for that in a mo...
Firstly; glad ur DH is on the mend now Vix :) Must have been awful for you x
Very exciting Babyducky ! Good luck, hope it is the real thing & that all goes well & quickly for you x
Also, big congratulations to all the proud new mummies! Hope you're managing to get some rest & are enjoying all the cuddles x

Lots of babies due on our original due date (19th)! I also have 2 friends from my NCT group who gave birth on Thursday too. Which makes me wonder, how are you getting on Marzi ? Anything happening yet?

Well, as for us, we had quite a day on Thursday too. Little Aidan has had an eye infection that started when he was just 6 days old (he'll be 3 weeks tomorrow). After seeing 3 different GPs & trying 2 different types of eye drops it was only getting worse as had spread to both eyes & one of them kept bleeding!!!
So on Thursday we were sent to the hospital &, after hours & hours of waiting around & my poor little man being poked & prodded about, he was admitted so they could do some tests & give him antibiotics intravenously.

Although it didn't end there. I thought seeing blood coming from ur baby's eye was horrible enough, but he had to have the canula put into his head as they couldn't get it into the veins in his hands / feet.

So I've been stuck in a little room at the hospital with him for the last 3 days. Well actually I've had opportunities to pop home but there's no way I could leave him for a second! Thank goodness for my iPhone!

On the plus side there's been a dramatic improvement since they started the treatment, all the nurses are making a big fuss of him & I'm being given plenty of tea & biscuits :)

Also they have just taken the canula out this morning, although he has a little bald patch where they had to shave some of his gorgeous hair bless him! It does mean there's a chance we might be allowed home today tho as I can carry on with the other medicine myself. We are awaiting the doctor's rounds this morning for the verdict so fingers crossed!

Am so proud of my lil guy I think I'm more in love with him every day! He's been such a good baby considering everything he's had to put up with in his first few weeks. Also it has actually made me quite thankful that I couldn't continue breastfeeding & had to switch to bottle as I think it would have been even harder the last few days trying to cope with breastfeeding inbetween all the monitoring & medicines. Funny how things turn out. Will update later, hopefully from the comfort of my nice squishy sofa at home Grin

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend x

girlsyearapart · 22/08/2010 08:57

congrats tah and elusive - sorry you got the placenta business again..

well done to all the continued breastfeeders- we have made it to 4 weeks now which is more than I've managed before but I am mix feeding couldn't cope only bf ing so nuff respect to you Smile

cazzybabs · 22/08/2010 09:38

Bubbabear - OMG poor Aidan. I would have wept!

mrsZaC · 22/08/2010 09:56

yey, glad your DH is showing signs of getting better vix I'm sure it's all gunna work out for you sweetie, keeping my fingers crossed for you :)

yippee ducky go babyducky, hope everything goes smoothly for you :)

owh bubba poor baby Aidan, such a shame for both of you, you must have been really worried!! but so glad to hear he's better now after his little blip x

Well off for another busy day today, taking my mum shopping and moving in the tenants to the flat for a 6 week let (thank goodness!) then dinner with the grandparents later on this eve. So I may have another of my completely zonked evenings. DH home soon - phew but I've finally started to sleep a little better (e.g. getting up 3 times in the night instead of 5!) and I suspect when I have someone sharing my bed I will struggle again so making the most of my last two nights alone in bed :D

hope you all have a lovely Sunday x

LittleMissSnowShine · 22/08/2010 11:19

Congrats elusive and welcome baby Seth! woo hoo!!

feel like another weekend has just been flying past - possibly the last one (possibly? hopefully more like!) the last one that's just going to be me and DH! strange thought. Feeling really good again apart from SPD which has been really achey - lovely sunny day outside and I'm dying to go for a nice walk somewhere but afraid of making it flair up again. Prob going to risk it anyway, have to enjoy last gasps of summer!!

Emster30 · 22/08/2010 17:02

oh crikey bubbabear, how horrid! i hated it when we were readmitted and james had a cannula in his hand, that was bad enough, but the eye infection and cannula in his head sound awful.

vix I believe the body is quite clever about not letting you go into labour if you're ill, so hopefully it won't be a problem. hope your dh continues to improve.

congrats to recent arrivals!

james and me spent the night with my parents last night and james had a lovely night's sleep, with a four and a three hour stretch. i found it hard to get to sleep back in my old childhood bedroom as it;s quite hot and noisy with traffic, so i'm pretty tired...

Aussieng · 22/08/2010 18:16

Blimey - an eventful few days. Congrats to Tah and Elusive. Think I already said congrats to Alice but just in case... Lovely name Frederick!

Belated happy birthday to Vita.

Vix - I read your posts re your husband very Shock thinking there must be something I can do I'm only in Notts but really couldn't think of anything useful. So glad he seems to be on the mend. I've heard the same as Emster - body is quite good about waiting until you are ready. stressful situations have resolved etc before labour begins. If there is anything we can do just holler.

Good birth story Sparkle!

Hope you're home and comfy now Bubba and it is all over. Hope Aidan is ok - poor little thing. HAted seeing J have the blood tests done. On the plus side we've been told not to worry about the jaundice, it is nothing and will clear up by itself. I take it therefore that it is bf jaundice and nothing to do with bilirubin levels. phew.

Hope you're having a nice sunday in the sunshine. It's sure quiet on here.

starshaker · 22/08/2010 19:04

Hi all. Not been on for a while. Just about managing to post the odd thing on facebook but thats pretty much been my limit lately. Not read through the tread but want to say congrats to everybody who has had their babies.

Things with the twins are great. They are fab sleepers and doing really really well. Still really small but i can almost see them growing in front of me.

Alicetheinvisible · 22/08/2010 19:27

Evening Smile

Poor Aidan! it is horrible seeing your child in pain Sad

Can i just say OWWOWWWWOWWW ow OUCH!!! My boobs hurt so much, they literally hurt up to my ears and are easily the size of my head. Milk came in properly last night, and i am having to express between feeds as i am in agony and can't even have my arms resting next to them. I am finding it less painful to feed today though, just the initial minute or so where i have to suck very hard on a malteser or chocolate button to help with the pain Grin CS wound healing well though and not feeling too sore.

Must go and put this baby down into its basket, it is giving me a dead arm (but so cute!)

Bubbabear · 22/08/2010 21:36

Just to say wohoo, we're home from hospital! Grin
Have a big list of medicines to give him at different times, some with feeds, some inbetween. Think i need to put my teacher's hat back on & draw myself up a timetable! Still, bubs is much better & is lovely to be home again.

LittleMissSnowShine · 22/08/2010 22:40

Sorry to hear about Aidan, bubba, glad he's on the mend!

Hope it's all stations go for you ducky

Good to hear from you Alice, glad CS wound is healing nicely and well done you with the bfing.

Forked out £35 for proper pelvic support belt thing from mothercare today. Raging since only 6 days til due date but far too late to get a physio referral at this stage for SPD so had to do something. Going round taking teeny, tiny steps to keep legs close together. Feel like a demure, slightly crazed geisha or something!!! Worried that this is all going to make labour a bit more painful than it absolutely has to be but very much looking forward to having pelvis back to myself again...roll on LO's arrival Grin
