Honestly, tah, WILL you get back in the queue, please Grin? I bet that blinking Hector has skulked off to have her baby somewhere as well. Rachelparker and I are going to be left high and dry at the top of the list at this rate. Seriously, ladies, very good luck with your popping Smile.

Coffeelady congratulations and sorry you had a hard time. Look forward to hearing more about how you're getting on.

Well, can I just say that I LOVE my builders? They take real pride in their work, and can't stop themselves mending things in the house that piss them off. Just today, they have: mended the pop-up plug thing in my downstairs loo (hasn't worked for 4 years); refixed a shelf that had fallen down (ditto); and built a back panel for one of my cupboards, because previously anything you put in there was at great risk of falling down behind the boiler. All totally unconnected with the job they're meant to be doing, all done without being asked, and at no extra cost. Bless them.

Not much happening here. Lots of tightenings now any time I actually stand up or move about, and loads of movement from the baby tonight, which is reassuring. But no proper labour signs. Going for a sweep tomorrow, so at least I might get some idea of how 'near' I am Hmm, plus an induction date no doubt.

JessieEssex · 16/08/2010 22:15

Hi all
Tonight we had planned a quiet pub meal with my in laws and DH's granddad. However I had a massive show just after we got to the pub, followed by a steady trickle of waters... We are now at home and I'm in bed having no contractions, just a bit of backache. Having read all the books under the sun, all of the good advice has gone out of the window. Anyone got any idea of timescales? Should I just go to sleep and see what happens, or run around like a headless chicken?! Congrats to all the new mums, I hope I'm joining you soon!
Jessie x

CellyD · 16/08/2010 22:19

Congratulations Coffee & Anna. Still waiting... my family are undertaking near on 24hr supervision, so I'm hoping for something to happen soon so everyone's attentions can be diverted to the new LO.

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/08/2010 22:22

Congrats coffee, good luck tah and hang in there Jessie! If you can get some sleep I'd try and get some because once the cx kick off it'll be a while before you get any more rest lol

I'm vegetating with my hot water bottle and yet another trashy novel. Getting very jealous of the ladies who are off on their way - wonder how weehector is getting on?!

weehector · 17/08/2010 01:15

weehector is finally a mummy - baby Alastair born at 8.22pm tonight after a dramatic labour...so much for him floating out on a rainbow cloud. Bomb doors opened fine initally after ARM but he was distressed on & off from the outset & my contractions were crap so narrowly avoided cs as fully dilated but needed ventouse then forceps in the end. But epidural is a truly wonderful thing & would do it again in a minute already...might not be saying that when the pain downstairs hits tomorrow..

More when I can...lying here with him on the bed with me, staring at him. He's just perfect.

Love to y'all & well done to everyone that's popped today. We were due a few to get back on track.

weehector · 17/08/2010 01:26

7lb 11lb for the stats vita change due date to 5/8 while you're at it. Someone might need the hope that others went equally overdue.

CellyD · 17/08/2010 02:18

Congratulations Hector! Glad your wait is over and you now have a lovely little one.

JessieEssex · 17/08/2010 02:52

Congratulations Hector! And what a lovely name.

sparkle101 · 17/08/2010 04:20

Hurrah - many congratulations weehector and about bloody time too! Makes what I'm about to say easier (didn't want to get hit with anything weehector threw!)

It looks like I am on my way too. Over Friday and Saturday had quite a few shows and had a bloody show this morning. Since 5pm this evening I have had really bad period type pains which were every 10 mins now moved to every five mins. All lovely when DH is still snoring in bed!

Although, on the rather humourous side I started getting contractions when we were having dinner - the waiter enquired as we waited to pay our bill "have you any plans for this evening?" So we told him probably going to have a baby..... the look on his face bless him - wasn't expecting that one!

bouncingblueberries · 17/08/2010 04:59

Well done Hector! Super name!

thedogwalker · 17/08/2010 07:27

Congratualtions weehector and good luck to Sparkle and Jessie.

I am now 40+2, still no movement from LO. I can see me going the whole 9 yards and having to be induced after days and days of waiting. Oh well, sending out good vibes to those that are close.

LizzieA my due date buddy, any news???

LizzieA · 17/08/2010 07:41

Well done Weehector and good luck Sparkle.

Dogwalker, nowt to report here unless last nights dream about having a show counts! I've resigned myself to being here for the duration and having a Bonfire Night baby Wink. x

girlsyearapart · 17/08/2010 07:47

congrats weehector enjoy him Smile

babyducky · 17/08/2010 07:58

Congrats Hector :)

marzipananimal · 17/08/2010 08:14

congratulations weehector!

Good luck to those in progress, lol at your waiter sparkle Grin

I'm off to see midwife in a bit, hoping she'll tell me baby is fully engaged and perhaps that I've got to fully dilated without noticing! (If only that happened...)

Alicetheinvisible · 17/08/2010 08:35

Morning Smile

Congratulations Weehector! you really sound so happy Smile

I think i could be the only one glad to wake up with no signs Grin I will hold on til thursday! Now 40+8

Dreadful heartburn in the night, remember it being bad with DD but have not had it that bad this time. Ended up taking one of the ranitadine(sp?) pills that i have got to take before thurs. Luckily there are 6 in a pack and i only need 4 of them Grin good stuff though!

vix206 · 17/08/2010 08:58

Huge congratulations Weehector! And Marzipan, like you I have this fantasy that if/when I go to the midwife on Thursday (only going if he hasn't been born by then) she will say, 'oh look your fully dilated!' and I'll be like 'oh how did that happen I didn't even notice.'

I feel different today but can't explain how, well I could but might be a bit TMI in places anyway. I had some acid reflux in the night which I haven't had for months, not pleasant....

Anyway, one day overdue and hoping not to go much further over! Hope everyone has a good day, I plan to to do some ironing, and then later on some baking and gentle housework - try to keep active and upright to encourage things along! Really getting into this not working lark now, although poor DH is run off his feet by himself at work and totally exhausted, poor mite.

chickieno1 · 17/08/2010 09:09

congrats weehector and good luck to sparkle and jessie

39+3 today, nothing much happening. Does sitting/bouncing on ball move things along or just help with position of babba? Anything else I can do.........

LCRLCR · 17/08/2010 09:12

Quick question all you at-term Mums - are your babies still very active? I get some half-assed squirming and elbowing but it's definitely slowed down. Is LO resting up for action?

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2010 09:17

congrats weehector!! And welcome baby Alastair :)

chickie - anything that harnesses the power of gravity to help things get underway is meant to be a good thing, whether it's walking, yoga positions or bouncing on a birth ball. In saying that, I think I might have overdone the walking and bouncing about - SPD killing me lol

alice and vix - loads sympathy for the heartburn, i've had terrible heartburn last few weeks, so hard to get to sleep and have to be permanently attached to a bottle of gaviscon at all times. don't over do it on the active front, MW told me that can be one of the things that makes the acid reflux worse. on the bright side...chocolate milk can really help calm it down Grin

No signs for me either! I know, I know, I still have 11 days til due date but can't stop hoping it'll be sooner than that. Going to attempt to walk to post office and bank today - walk usually takes about 10 mins each way but with the 38 week waddle could well be taking a bit longer lol Come on waters...break!!!

vix206 · 17/08/2010 09:23

LCRLCR my little one doesn't seem to move as often throughout the day but when he does move it feels more powerful if that makes sense.

LizzieA · 17/08/2010 09:28

LCR wriggling has slowed down here, I tend to get big pokes rather than squirming. If I've been worried he hasn't moved for a while I've been poking at him and generally get a foot moving in protest (what a cruel mother I am). I don't think I'm feeling actual movements as much as before either, if DP has his hand on my tummy he feels movements that I miss, never thought I'd get used to the baby moving and ignore it - seems like years ago that we were all getting excited by those second trimester flutters!

LCRLCR · 17/08/2010 09:33

Another cruel mother here - put an icy beer can on my tummy yesterday and there were lots of poking protests! I'm hoping it's resting up for action - getting a little tense here, would really like to meet baby now and know it's healthy. Due date today!

vix206 · 17/08/2010 09:36

LizzieA I'm the same, in fact when I wake up in the morning it's almost like my bump is a bit numb so I don't notice he moves until I place my hand there!

I also give him a rub or a poke every so often to reassure myself he's ok, he's got hiccups at the moment so no need right now :)

chickieno1 · 17/08/2010 09:42

Yeah I also feel movements have slowed down but are more forceful when I get them :)

babba likes yoga though and seems to move after that :) does that mean I ll have a nice calm baby lol
