LCR with DD she slowed up massively in the last few days. I phoned the MW on my due date after i had a show to ask for advice wrt timescale, when i should think of going in etc (i didn't have MN then!) and they asked about fetal movement and decided to send me in for monitoring as she was a lot quieter. All was fine, she was just getting ready. This one still makes my bump change shape several times a day!

Poncherello · 17/08/2010 09:52

Congratulations on all the new arrivals! I have tears in my eyes reading the announcements and gorgeous names.

Still a few days away from due date here so taking the time to bake / cook and fill the freezer like a loon (and it's not as if there isn't a Waitrose / Tescos / Budgens and M&S at the end of the road).

Wish I had some advice to add on the breastfeeding / thrush challenges. With dd it was hell for the first 6 weeks or so and then after dd having Nystatin and me using Canesten cream on my nipples (and washing off before next feed) it seemed to settle down and click into place. I'd forgotten about the white bits and the toe curling shooting pain with the let down and latching on but it did soon go.

Really hope it improves quickly for you ladies - you're doing brilliantly to keep going through it.

I know the Daniel Craig comments have passed but I still vividly remember THE best dream I have ever had when pg with dd (three years ago) - I was telling him that Sienna Miller looked rubbish in the Agent Provocateur underwear in Layer Cake because she was too skinny whilst smooching with him on the sofa - I justified it was fine to get saucy with Mr Craig as I was pregnant and therefore it 'didn't mean anything' ..... Blush

Right off to make some bolognaise / lasagne / meatballs anything else you can do with mince and roast some veg.

Look forward to hearing more news and birth stories soon Smile

RachelParker · 17/08/2010 10:14

hello - I'm out of the waiting room :), it was a bit of a dramatic labour as the baby managed to get the chord round her neck and her heart rate was dropping but I narrowly avoided a c-section but she's now doing really well and has just slept eight hours straight!

so, here are my details for the list:

13 August (due 5 August) RachelParker 1#, GIRL, Zoe Esme, born at 19.54

Hope all the other new arrivals are doing well and good luck to all in the waiting room.

marzipananimal · 17/08/2010 10:21

congratulations rachel :) Glad zoe is ok now - does sound rather dramatic!

poncherello lol at your daniel craig dream, I wouldn't mind one of those!

Sadly I have seen the midwife and don't appear to be about to give birth, sigh. She said she'll do a sweep next week if I want (at 40+5) but I'm not very keen. Get a move on baby! Daddy and i want to meet you!

vix206 · 17/08/2010 10:26

Congratulations Rachel! Marzipan I reckon they'll offer me a sweep on Thursday (40+4) but I'm going to say no I think, not keen either although I want to meet baby as soon as possible I know he'll come when he's ready :)

soontobefatnat · 17/08/2010 10:49

Congrats hector!! Amazing.

Another cruel mother here - definitely give the bump a good poke if I haven't felt him move in a while. Not much here either, some wriggles and elbows, but pretty quiet compared to a few weeks ago.

Elusive - heh! Hadn't considered the sustainability of my name before. Crapola. Maybe this is just the encouragement I need to really let myself go?!

soontobefatnat · 17/08/2010 10:54

Ooh - congrats Rachel as well!

ElusiveMoose · 17/08/2010 11:03

Ha! What did I tell you? I knew that Hector was up to something Grin. Many congratulations on little Alastair - you sound over the moon. Re the labour (obv water under the bridge for you, now), your experience sounds SO similar to my first birth (except I managed to get away with just ventouse Smile but didn't get an epidural Angry). It's funny, you worry about and anticipate so many different things about labour, but it never occurred to me that my contractions might just be really rubbish and basically pack up once I'd dilated. Just a word of warning to other ladies, really - if it happens to you, it's not that unusual!!

Rachel, huge congrats to you too. Lovely name, and so glad you managed to avoid a section. Eight hours sleep?! That will be your last one of those in a while Wink.

LCR I've had exactly the same experience re movements (I went in for monitoring about 10 days ago). I not only feel far fewer movements now, I would say they're less powerful, if anything (I rarely notice them at all unless I'm very still). But when I went for monitoring the baby was absolutely fine, so as long as I can provoke some sort of response, either just by sitting still or by giving the bump a good poke, then I'm not worrying (or trying not to...). I know exactly how you're feeling, though - you just want the baby in front of you so you know for sure that everything's ok.

Well, I'm all alone at the top of the list, now [harumph emoticon]. Not a big surprise, though, given that DS was 13 days late. Glad I've got the MW appt later today - even if she can't do the sweep, at least I'll feel like something is happening. I've got even more builders in the house today, so it would be an entertaining afternoon to go into labour Grin.

ElusiveMoose · 17/08/2010 11:05

Maybe you could just change your RL name, nat, and then you could be soontobethinlynn Grin.

Alicetheinvisible · 17/08/2010 11:36

I will keep you company Elusive Grin This baby is not coming before thursday, it is all arranged now!

Chulita · 17/08/2010 11:45

Congrats weehector and rachel :) Well done to both of you!

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/08/2010 11:55

LO is always kicking and shifting around for me. Except when MW or anyone else wants him or her to Blush

Shy? Performance anxiety? Not sure!!

Soontobeskinnyminnie ?

USMum27 · 17/08/2010 12:04

Congrats weehector (it's about time!) and rachel!

Nothing much to report here, though I have also noticed that the LO has slowed down quite a bit, but when she does move it is massive and my whole tummy wriggles.

Off to Rigby and Peller - just realized that I should probably be fitted for a nursing bra before she actually arrives and I need it! Whoops - looks like I should have done this a few weeks ago (currently 39+4) Blush

babyducky · 17/08/2010 12:40

congrats rachel :)

when's it my turn??!! feeling fed up today!

vix206 · 17/08/2010 13:54

USMum I haven't got round to getting any nursing bras and won't now until after the baby is here. Pathetic really seeing as I am a trained bra fitter and sell bras for a living... it was the one thing I never got round to and I'm too big and uncomfortable to go round the shops now so it will have to wait!

vitapulchra · 17/08/2010 14:57

Congratulations Weehector and RachelParker! Smile Smile Not easy births but so glad Alistair and Zoe sound like they're doing so well. Very happy for you!

Just checking in to say all is going well with Daniel. The DTs have been really good with him. He just feeds and sleeps. He slept 10.30pm - 3.30am last night Smile then slept till 6.30 SmileSmile. It is a piece of cake so far compared to having the twins!

Aussieng · 17/08/2010 15:57

Wow - things have been hapening in here! Congrats Anna, RachelParker, WeeHector, Nikalah & CoffeeLady.

Smiler - sorry you are having such a tough time. Your DH needs kicking into touch a bit (or just kicking) for how he speaks to you! And your landlord Angry As a landlord myself stories like this make me furious - that's why the rest of us are so bound up in red tape and regulations while people like your landlord who could not give a toss just flout everything!

Chulita/Blueberries - sorry things are still tough. I'm taking preventative measures on the thrush score - you have got me terrified/paranoid. Sorry Sam is hard work Chulita. J is quite wakeful (family keep saying he will learn lots but its no consolation when you're tired and probably not true if baby is overtired) but he does have 3 fairly regular 45 minute minimum naps (morning lunch and tea) where I can get things done and after me deciding to introduce a proper night-time routine (swore I would not do this while he is so young but I succumbed) he does now seem to be down in the evening from 7-11 and I do really feel like DH and I have some life back.

Confession time (whispers): while taking 75% of it with a pinch of salt 25%+ of Gina Ford's book has so far proved quite useful. Am I about to be slung out of mumsnet with pitchforks???? I don't think I could ever go with CIO but who knows and as noted in the book if J is fed and clean and I'm sure he's not in any discomfort it makes little difference if he cries in my arms or cries in his crib for a few minutes while I make a cup of tea and brush my hair!

So excited for more good news soon - Alice your date (ie cs date) seems to have come round so quickly. Glad you are feeling so positive.

Looking forward to your birth story Coffee - you promised drama, I believe Wink.

vix206 · 17/08/2010 16:03

Right ladies, fresh scones, banana cake and chocolate biscuits with a coffee icing topping on the table for everyone to help themselves to! Yes I've gone on a baking marathon again, if only I could share them all with you! x

babyducky · 17/08/2010 16:12

Yum vix, I've been baking aswell today so I shall add lemon drizzle cake & choc fudge cake to the table!

cazzybabs · 17/08/2010 16:16

Aussieng - i hate gina ford ... but then i am the least organised person ever and am always late!

i am about to bake too ... and i wonder why the baby weight is not falling off????

grghhh dd4 keeps being sick ... i am covered in baby sick and have no clean clothes that fit :( ... hope she's just sicky as opposed to a side effect of my medication

vix206 · 17/08/2010 16:23

mmm chocolate fudge cake!!

If I'm still pregnant on Thursday I am going to make millionaires shortbread.

neenz · 17/08/2010 16:47

Aussie, sounds like it's going great. I am a bit of a Gina Ford fan too altho I think her routines for babies as young as ours are a bit Hmm. They're fine if your baby falls into that routine naturally but I don;t think you can make a newborn 'feed for 25mins' nor 'stay awake for 1.5hrs' Smile. Daniel still sleeps all day and night except when he is feeding. You're right that it doesn't matter if you leave your LO crying for 10mins while you shower/dress if necessary. It's not what you want ideally but you need to be able to get on with stuff. When the DTs were ltitle we'd do their bedtime routine, put them in bed just as our tea was ready and they would scream their heads off for 10min while we ate Sad. It was not great but we decided we needed that 10mins just to ourselves. If he is restless have you tried using a sling? The Ergo is supposed to be excellent.

I forgot to say before congrats to all the new mums! Weehector, well done! Smile

Doodleydoo · 17/08/2010 16:57

Congrats ladies , am really pleased to hear all the other safe arrivals.

Feel a bit funny today, somehow accidentally we have thrown away (probably in a nappy mine sweep!) the two hospital bracelets our lo had put on. For some reason this has made me feel really really down. I am a sentimental idiot at the best of times but really feel like I have let him down somehow. As a boy he probably won't care as much as a girl but I keep thinking maybe he will think I didn't care as much as I did for dd. Sad

Think its a combo of baby blues and the fact it is my due date today, which I find oddly strange that he is here already and can't remember what it was like to not have him Smile.
