Coffeelady that sounds like a real pain in the arse - I'd hate to be stuck in hospital for that long without anything happening, too. But at least it sounds like things are going to start happening soon, so hang in there!

Blueberries poor you. Sounds really hard. Glad your DH is being nice and generous understanding. Oh, and by the way, what the blazes are you doing making crumble? You've just had a baby - go and sit on the sofa, girl!

Chulita, lovely photo Smile.

Quick question for all the 2+ timers who've already had their babies (and esp Blueberries, actually, if you're feeling up to it). My mum, who's coming down if I ever when I eventually go into labour, has said that although she's happy to do whatever I need, she's expecting to go home again pretty much as soon as I come out of hospital, because she thinks it's important for the four of us to bond as a family. Up until now I've completely seen the sense of this. Now, however, I'm beginning to wonder whether DS would feel more positive towards the baby if he had a doting granny around for another few days after the baby's born, to give him undivided attention while I'm recovering from the birth and trying to establish the bf'ing (DH will be here as well, but his attention is not 'special' in the way that granny's is Wink). I obviously don't want him to think he's being foisted on granny because mummy is too busy to spend time with him; but at the same time, let's face it, I am going to be too busy to spend much time with him. I guess I can just play it by ear, but just wondered if any of you had an opinion?

LittleMissSnowShine · 14/08/2010 18:37

coffee - thank god for ipads, cake and friends :) glad you're hanging in there!

vix sometimes my evil heartburn manifests as nausea and i did notice it was a bit worse than usual when i took some iron tablets for a couple of weeks to boost my HG levels. hopefully in your case it is a sign of hormones gearing up for labour, tho!!

chulita - awwwww, cute!

mrszac - i've put jelly sweets, capri sun and apricot cereal bars in my hospital bag. i know i'll prob end up throwing up gruesomely at the transition stage but i'm going to do my best to eat something before i head in cos i can't imagine having the energy to get through it all without some lasagne or some other carby goodness to see me through!

still lovely and sunny here, only managed to go for really short walk tho Sad - think it's def SPD which has been causing me so much pain and stiffness. 38 weeks today so i don't think there's a lot of point in looking for a physio referral at this stage, just trying to take it easy and use hot water bottles etc. watching a movie at home tonight and hoping to soak up some sunshine in the park tomorrow, have everything crossed that LO will arrive this week. don't think i am going to be very patient at having to ask DH to take my shoes off for me and fetch stuff for me Hmm

have a good sat night night everyone, whatever u have planned!

girlsyearapart · 14/08/2010 18:54

meant to say to anyone still packing hospital bags- put a plastic bag in for dirty washing..

planning girly film - remember me tonight with blanket dressing gown and chocolate tonight Smile

did bath x 3 on my own tonight yay

SmilerJane · 14/08/2010 19:06

hiya everyone..
Thanks for your kind words.. (neens, bouncingblueberries and Aussing) With Jorgia i am fine its just with all the other [poo] goin on in my life.. Had to go housing for an appointment Thurs. My DP lost his job n we went on Housing benefit and because i was so ill throughout my preg (hyperemesis)he couldnt get one till i was well again (because he needed to look after LOs) well our landlord lied and said we wasnt paying our rent... 4x he has done this now.. i spend 2hrs there going thru a spreadsheet that he gave them.. (Which wasnt even right so i did a proper spreadsheet with all payments & when etc) So i proved i am not in arrears for the th time.. The next day he calls me asking for rent!!! That they havent put in my acc yet as they suspended it! He is bein an arse n it was all his shit that stressed me out and brought on labour.. (found out my family had been in danger thru dodgy gas and live wires in bathroom and kitchen) I know i am on a lil rant but everything is getting on top of me and isnt fair...
Gotta go as my man comin back n cant deal with him havin a go at me etc so gonna log off so he cant start..

bye bye
t care
:(

Chulita · 14/08/2010 20:11

jane is there anyone you can chat to in RL? It sounds like you really have it rough at the mo and it'd be brilliant if you could talk it through with someone. CAB are quite good if your landlord keeps being stupid, that's the last thing you need on top of everything else. You're always welcome here to have a rant about whatever.

vix206 · 14/08/2010 20:13

blueberries I'm sorry your mum has gone, I hope you feel a bit brighter again soon - we're here for you!

Well, after feeling so awful earlier I came up to bed and had a really deep sleep for about an hour and a half, and since then haven't felt sick. I've had dinner, and even made some coffee cupcakes (ate far too much of the icing whilst making it), ciabatta bread, pasta sauce and a big batch of soup. So, as you can see not feeling sick anymore!!

I am very hot though, and tied after all that work in the kitchen - so back in bed again now.

Have a good night everyone, I can't believe my due date is just the day after tomorrow I am so excited :)

SmilerJane · 14/08/2010 21:40

chulita Thanks for replying..

my oh is in the bath so goin to quickly reply...
We have been involved with the council to see if they can rehouse us but no luck.. housing aid are submitting court proceedings as i will not take my family bein in danger that long and letting him get away with it..
the live wire in my bathroom was from a cut cable to the elec shower that looks ancient old.. it was dangling down in my airing cupboard in my bathroom where we put our towels etc.. me and my family take towels from there!!! I will not take it lying down..
We cant afford to move ourselves as my oh hasnt found a job yet (he is looking and so am i....
CAB not been yet but i am going to go from the 23rd as i'll only have my lil jorgia with us as my DC are goin to their grans/dads for wk.. just neverending stress!!
I have no one really to talk to as my man would go mad if i spoke to others about our personal problems :( hencee why if he saw me writing here another row would persue!! i'm already selfish, a tramp, a tart, bitch, lowdown today n cant bear any more today.. Think i might start taking the 'happy pills' as cuz i have cried lots today Jorgia in unsettled.. having problems with reflus isnt helping her either.. every 3 hr feeds day n night for 2mths now..
Anyway best go before he comes down..
For the 1st time since baba born i gonna have a relax n chill with a dvd and a malibu n coke.. only 1 wont harm ;)
gotta go he comin
bye
:)
thanks again

bouncingblueberries · 14/08/2010 22:16

elusive in the weeks before ds2 was born I really wanted the 4 of us to have time just us as a family before my mum arrived. Boy am I glad it never happened that way! My mum was invaluable. She fussed over ds1 when I was too exhausted to pay him any attention, she bathed him, read home stories and played him so much I think he hardly noticed I wasn't giving him 100%. Then, when ds1 was happy or really needed some time with mummy and daddy, my mum changed nappies, cuddled and shushed ds2 until I could feed him again.

It's only now, 3 weeks on that I feel we can cope without my fab mum!

So ifyou can, get your mum to stay for as long as possible!

Bubbabear · 14/08/2010 23:24

Chulita - how adorable!

Coffeelady - hoping things get up & running soon for you, must be so frustrating waiting about for it all to happen. Hope we have a lovely news update soon :)

I too am a lucky girl with an invaluable mum. DP has to leave early in the morning to go back to Wales for work, can't believe it's been 2 weeks already! My lovely mum has taken next week off work to come & stay to be an extra pair of hands & ensure I can 'get some rest' (code for her to get lots of cuddles with her grandson!). She's even offered to take it in turns to do Aidan's 3am feed bless her! (I won't be letting her but I know she genuinely wouldn't mind doing it). She'd been waiting/hoping to be a Grandma for years & now she has 2 within 8 months of each other as my little niece was born just before Christmas. So now she's really in her element & has already offered to look after him so DP & I can go on holiday! Not that I could imagine leaving him to pop to the shops let alone a whole week or two away Shock

Smiler - I'm afraid I don't really have any advice but just seconding what Chulita said about being welcome to pop on here for a rant / some support / a virtual choc cake etc Grin

Had a lovely afternoon. Took bubs to see a friend who runs a quiet village pub abt 40 min drive away. By chance we bumped into some other friends there & ended up stopping at a different place for dinner on the way home so it turned into quite an unplanned big day out which I would have probably been quite nervous about had it been planned! But he slept most of the time & only got quite grizzley just before we went home. Although I do find it quite hard having a crying baby out in public even though he usually stops quite easily for a feed / dummy or a cuddle. Think I need to man up a bit & not worry so much about disturbing whoever else is around!

Speaking of which, someone is starting to stir. Bottle then (hopefully) a few hours of bed...

thecoffeelady · 15/08/2010 08:23

Still nothing to report.

Having the gel at about noon so I will update again later. Just munching on breakfast I may go for a walk in a bit to see if I can get things going.

thecoffeelady · 15/08/2010 08:26

Oh and I am a little over excited about X Factor starting next saturday, I love Saturday night trash.

LCRLCR · 15/08/2010 08:33

Morning all

Continued congrats on the new arrivals, the are adorable. My NCT group are all popping before me too, no fair.

My midwife moved my due date to Tuesday the 17th so not considering myself overdue just yet but I feel so normal with no twinges or shows or nesting that I really can't see this happening anytime soon...?

Quick question, are any of you intending to use these special infant pillow things so that they don't get a flat head or am i too gullible to advertising?

lillakuddisbabypillows.co.uk/shop/

Love to all xx

Chulita · 15/08/2010 10:04

lcrlcr I think they're a bit pointless tbh, DD's 20 months and has never had a pillow, her head's quite round :) I think with prem babies they're more susceptible...

Alicetheinvisible · 15/08/2010 10:09

Morning Smile

40+6 and no baby. Yummy breakfast cooked by DH though Grin

Have a good sunday everyone Smile

vitapulchra · 15/08/2010 10:40

Thinking about you today, Coffee, really hope all goes well. Also wonder how Palace is doing.

Elusive, I would def try to get your mum to stay as long as possible. Your DS will readily see that you're busier and it will only be comforting to have someone around to help him, too. Don't worry too much either way b/c these things will work themselves out, but I think the mum option is the easiest--not just for DS but for you, too.

LCR I second Chulita's opinion--the pillow is certainly not essential, and I'm totally unconvinced about its effectiveness. Their heads will become round eventually, if not very early on!

All right, ladies, we're halfway through August and it's time to be stern with you. We've lots of late loafers on the list and I'm afraid the bad karma will spread all the way down. We've nested, cleaned, shopped, massaged, acupunctured, reflexologised(!), eaten curry, had our hair and nails tended to, had quite enough sex, thank you, and drank litres upon litres of raspberry leaf tea. Time to give birth! Come on, everyone! Let's all go into labour!

OP posts:
babyducky · 15/08/2010 11:42

I agree vita, come on everyone!!!!!

I am now in the overdue club aswell, 40+1 today!

For the last few days Ive had loads of back ache, stomach cramps & BH but nothing else yet.

Hope everything goes well for you today coffeelady & hope everyone else is doing ok :)

Joey30 · 15/08/2010 11:57

Welcome all the lovely new babies and well done to the fab new mums! Hope Coffee is doing well...its great to have support from good friends!

39 weeks on wednesday and dp is already desperate for baby to get here! Dont know what he'll be like if I go to 42 weeks!

Baby is back to back so need to get off sofa and on exercise ball again!

LizzieA · 15/08/2010 12:23

Hello all and welcome to the world any new babies who've appeared since I was last on.

Due date today and there are no signs that our little man has any intentions of making an appearance. I'm starting to piss myself off by questioning every niggle and pain as "a sign of labour", DP has now taken to laughing every time I do anything - the dishes, going to the loo, sneezing, opening a door etc and saying "Ooh is that a sign of labour?" - he is funny and it is making me laugh (for now - I may start throwing things soon though).

Chulita · 15/08/2010 13:13

elusive I deffo recommend having your mum around if she's the helpful type. Mine was here for 3 weeks and I couldn't have managed without her... even just to hold DS while I gave DD some proper playtime. She washed up, cleaned the house, hoovered, weeded the garden (she's unstoppable really :) ) I was gutted when she went home. MIL was here last week but she's not as hands-on and let DS cry a lot which I didn't enjoy, ended up not getting as much done cos she didn't want to cuddle DS.

Good luck coffeelady!

Well done to all you ladies staying positive and not ripping things apart, going overdue is such a pita!

I think I've encouraged DS to rely on boob to fall asleep. He was awake from half 7 til half 12 today and just wouldn't sleep. I know it's early days but I'd like him to be able to sleep in his cot without me putting him down asleep. He just hates being put down, if he's awake he wants to be cuddled...not easy to give DD the time she needs.

Chulita · 15/08/2010 13:17

Argh! He's awake again, less than an hour's break for me and it's doing my nut :(

thedogwalker · 15/08/2010 13:36

Vita if only it was that simple Grin. I am due today and I've been having cx for 4 days, but when they get to 10 minutes apart they stop Hmm. So obviously I'm getting fed up of all these false starts. Had scan etc on Friday and they confirmed the cx, but obviously LO is so comfortable, he is fighting eviction Grin

Mum arrived on Friday, she was so glad that I hadn't poped yet, but now all I get every half an hour is....have you started yet? Is he coming yet? Which is starting to get very annoying.

I really do hope there are some more arrivals soon, we need the good vibes spreadin out to us all.

take care xxx

Alicetheinvisible · 15/08/2010 14:17

These false starts are driving me mad too! I never imagined i would get this far past my due date and tomorrow is my pre-op appointment. Thought things were happening again last night as i woke up quite suddenly feeling poorly, really hot and clammy and sick with tummy ache, but 10mins later all ok again Hmm

ElusiveMoose · 15/08/2010 18:29

Thanks for the advice, ladies. I've spoken to my mum, and she said she's very happy to stay a bit longer, which I'm quite relieved about. And she's back anyway at the beginning of September for the best part of a week, as my dad is away on holiday (plus DH will be back at school by then).

Loads of BHs today, but I think mainly due to the fact that I've been quite active (nice walk by the river this morning, then trip to the adventure playground this afternoon). Nice restful hour reading my book at lunchtime, though (I've nearly finished Ian McEwan's Solar - really good - has anyone else read it?).

Anyway, everything's settled down again now. Take-away curry tonight, though (3rd curry in a week Grin), so you never know!

pamplem0usse · 15/08/2010 19:46

Elusive I'm joining you on the takeaway curry..... bloody.fed.up.!
Oh well, I'm into single figures tomorrow in terms of maximum number of days I can remain pregnant for!
Off to write some more Dooyoo reviews. Have decided my stretchmark healing creams are going to cost a small fortune and I need an alternative source of income!
xxx

weehector · 15/08/2010 21:40

Still here despite the Bishop Score of 10 on Friday & the MW's predictions of having a baby in my arms by Sunday night. Not even a twinge at the moment. 40+10 today...what the hell is causing the backlog for us all? Hope there's been some progress for coffee & nikalah

Lovely day here though - lots more walking & ice-cream. So looks like the countdown is over as I've to phone in tomorrow am with a view to going in for induction...I never, ever dreamt I'd be in this position..12hrs for things to kick off out of nowhere or I'll miss my much longed for MLU birth complete with soak in the pool :(
