Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chulita · 13/08/2010 20:19

For those of you with thrush, I did a bit of hunting around online and apparently Nystatin isn't much good for newborns cos it needs to be swilled. I went back today and got Daktarin gel (like blueberries suggested first) and we're trying that. It's also a lot easier to apply cos you stick it on your finger and poke it in. Samson just spat all his Nystatin out. I'm also trying Grapefruit Seed Extract, Acidophilus and Daktarin cream on me. I was prescribed Itraconazole today since the Fluconazole didn't work but I'm reluctant to use it cos everywhere says it's not for bfing. The Fluconazole dose I got was not as strong as what I had for DD so I reckon maybe that's why it didn't work...My sympathies to you all though, it's so horrible to have. Lasted 8 weeks with DD so fingers crossed it's not that bad this time!

weehector eek! How exciting :) Hold off for nikalah though, I reckon you're right, she's a bit 'hormonal' at the mo Wink

aussie Samson was 53cm too, I'm only 5ft2 so even when he was fully engaged he was still right up under my ribs...nice!

bubba you're in your pre-pregnancy clothes??? Shock I'm still in maternity :( there's no way my jeans will fit yet, got 1st10 to lose til I get back to pre-pg weight and these chocolates aren't going to help. I'm very, very jealous Envy and I agree with cherry, you have to do what you can with feeding your LO and you gave it a good go...nothing to feel bad about!

Both children are asleep, I'm being stupid not turning in too but I just want a bit of time to meself...if I have another night like last night I might pop.

Chelsea buns for anyone who wants them, they caught a bit on the top but I've put loads of glaze on so you can't really tell.

vitapulchra · 13/08/2010 20:30

Nichy--Huge congratulations!! Hope you're recovering well and enjoying your little Samuel. I'm guessing that 8.97lbs means 8lbs 15+oz?

Palace--How absolutely appalling! As if you can't be bothered to show up for your own baby's induction. I'm so sorry and I hope you are able to go tonight instead. Best wishes, whatever happens.

alice Hell no, every man for themselves. You go girl, it's desperate enough as it is without trying to worry about the queue. Was just trying to keep nikalah sweet Wink

Though bubba needs a warning...2.5 weeks early, a super cute baby AND she's back in her jeans. Get her ladies! [friendly punch with narrowed eyes emoticon]

LittleMissSnowShine · 13/08/2010 21:15

terrible back ache that was lurking last night has returned tonight. every time i stand up it aches and aches - is something happening down below??

not sure - will report back tomorrow lol

congrats to anyone i hacen't congratulated yet and Envy @ weehector - sounds like it's all systems go in weehectorland!!

bouncingblueberries · 13/08/2010 22:45

OMG chulita I didn't realise you'd had thrush with dd too! Flipin Nora! Wonder what it is that makes us so susceptible? We were about 8 weeks with it too last time Sad really spoils the early days Sad

bouncingblueberries · 13/08/2010 22:55

Go weehector!!!! keep up with the visualisation - OPEN!

You too littlemiss cheering you both on!

weehector · 14/08/2010 00:01

Whoa..hold it. I'm not sure that I'm in labour yet. I think my feelings for Daniel Craig may be the primary cause of the confused stirrings in my loins.

Night all. Good luck & fingers crossed to those with pains. X

tah2 · 14/08/2010 00:46

Just a quick one from me to say congratulations to everyone who has had their babies recently. My laptop has been broken for the last few weeks and its a nightmare trying to post anything using my phone.

Big hi five for all you ladies perservering with BF - you are all my heros. I didnt manage it with either of my 2 DD's and am really scared about trying again on this one. Ive not discussed it with my midwife as (im guessing) she just assumes i will bottle feed like i did on both DD's. Its my fault for not bringing it up [annoyed with myself emotion] but im hoping there will be someone at the hospital who will help.

vita please could you also ammend my due date - i spent months telling everyone i was due on the 16th, but was very embarassed a few weeks ago to have learnt that i am actually due on the 14th!!! Blush

I cant believe i have reached my due date! I was so convinced this baby would arrive early like my other 2 (DD1 was 14 days early and DD2 was 10 days early). I have therefore come to the conclusion that i must be having a boy! Wink

Chin up to everyone who is getting impatient - wont be long now! Smile

tah2 · 14/08/2010 00:49

weehector your comment about daniel craig made me smile - he is absolutely gorgeous isn't he?!! Wink

bouncingblueberries · 14/08/2010 02:54

weehector I have one word for you...

D E N I A L !!!!!

Now stop pussy footing around around and get on with it woman Grin

aendr · 14/08/2010 07:38

First off, congratulations to peanutpie, summerymummy, Neenz, CoronaAndLime, Doodleydoo, NichyNoo, JamieJay.

tah2: I put off talking to anyone about breastfeeding for AGES (after a bad time last time) but finally got up the courage (at 36 weeks - and I was in tears on the phone to the BF counsellor within 2 minutes of the conversation) and this time am armed with ideas for position given my shape and droopiness and I know I can call her in to the hospital if the midwives are (again) being too contradictory. I'm also expressing colostrum (at her suggestion) to help with the baby's sugar crash in case we have feeding problems again (I have gestational diabetes, it's not a standard thing to do.)

I'm now 38+3. My mother came to stay last week to help out, especially with DS who is now 21 months, and we've been cooking soups and things and defrosted the big chest freezer and done those myriad chores one puts off.

Yesterday I had a batch of consultant appointments and they were running an hour late, but DS was beautifully behaved, which was wonderful. I now have a date for a sweep (39+2) and induction (40+1), and have CTG (foetal heart rate and contraction) monitoring booked for Tuesday and Friday. (Again, this is all extra due to the diabetes.) I'm hoping she comes naturally, and yesterday I was having lots of Braxton-Hicks, but they settled down rather than getting "more interesting" if you know what I mean Wink. This is the worst bit I think, the waiting game. DS was born by now (my waters broke with him at 38+1) so I've never been this pregnant before. I want cake! Others might want brie or pate but I haven't had cake in WEEEEEEKS now, or white rice or nice biscuits or yummy puddings. Mother's been asked to bring one of those mini pots of profiteroles into the hospital if I get stuck in longer than 24 hours (baby has to be in at least that long for monitoring, but last time we were in for 5 days.)

On another note, my new vacuum cleaner arrived and we were all playing with it yesterday. Grin This might not seem that exciting on first glance, but it's robotic and will go and hoover for you while you put your feet up, will go off on a schedule (so I can set it to automatically hoover when I'm at a toddler group) and also you can drive it with a remote control. The only thing it can't cope with is stairs. Pity it doesn't do the tidying up too (the only naturally tidy person in the house is 21 months old and we're not sure where he got that from!) DS is a bit wary of it, but loved the fact we could tell it where to go. I just hope he doesn't try to sit on it!

ElusiveMoose · 14/08/2010 08:47

aendr respect to your hoover. I WANT one.

tah I know exactly what you mean about the bf'ing - I'm much more worried about it than the birth. But I've just decided to try it again, but to not feel guilty if it doesn't work out. I haven't talked to anyone either - TBH although my MWs are great, I'm not sure how well-qualified they are on the bf'ing front (I got loads of conflicting advice from them last time). But I will definitely make sure I get the details of the local bf'ing group, as they were great last time (although we didn't actually manage to make it work Sad).

Hector I like the thought of trying to bring on labour by drooling over Daniel Craig. Caught a few minutes of Tomb Raider the other day, and had totally forgotten he was in it. Yum. I find that any sort of 'naughty thought' immediately sets off the BHs and makes the baby start leaping around, so who knows, it might be a more pleasant and effective labour-inducing technique than drinking raspberry leaf tea Wink.

Oh, and huge hugs to all your poor ladies suffering from thrush. It was the only bf-related problem I didn't get last time, but I know all about dreading your next feed, so I really sympathise.

Off to try to keep DS entertained in the rain. We're supposed to be going to a toddler birthday party at the local playground later. Can't say the prospect fills me with joy Hmm.

girlsyearapart · 14/08/2010 09:16

congrats to all the new arrivals Smile

cherry can I have some of those matchsticks please??

Tilly is doing well but I'm rapidly losing heart with the bf ing. She feeds well and I can see milk coming out but even after an hour plus of feeding she still wants a bottle.. Considering the time/energy/general ignoring of other kids it all feels a bit pointless Sad

But -although we have been mix feeding from the beginning- this is the longest I have ever bfed for before she is 3 wks tomoro. so I am pleased and won't be stopping just yet.

We are off to a toddler party today too- in the morning. Still in my pjs though so should prob get dressed!

ps- am also in pre preg jeans I'm afraid..

bouncingblueberries · 14/08/2010 09:20

I need cake, I need chocolate, I need copious cups of tea Sad

My lovely, wonderful, patient mum has just left after staying with us for 4 weeks and I've no idea how we're going to cope without her. She has kept our little house serene and tidy while chaos reined, kept ds1 entertained and even subtly suggesting ways to deal with little tantrums that cropped up as a result of having to share me with his new baby brother.

I adore my mum. Can only hope I'll have as good a relationship with my boys when they grow up.

Sorry for the indulgent post, can hardly see to type I'm crying so much.

sparkle101 · 14/08/2010 10:19

it's lovely you're so close to your mum and you will have the same relationship as you know what it means!

Well I have now had three (what I think are)shows and last night had very bad period pains, but after a great night's sleep everything died off again. Any idea if three shows means more than one - i.e. is the baby iminent?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend - although it is peeing it down here!

vitapulchra · 14/08/2010 11:24

Tah Here's your updated list. And I understand how you feel about having expected your LO to come early--all 3 of mine have been early, too, so I keep thinking this one must arrive any day now! The thought of possibly being pg for another month is too much. Hope yours makes its arrival soon.

wow, aendr, that hoover sounds amazing! if only it could nip to the shop for milk and whip up dinner as well it'd make a great OH lol

still loads of pain in lower back and pelvis but i'm starting to think it's more like late onset SPD rather than beginning of labour Angry It's pretty constant, very uncomfortable and stiff and has shown only mild improvement despite my gym ball contortions last night, hot water bottle and a bit of deep heat rub. Wouldn't mind if I thought it meant LO was imminent but with 14 days to go til due date, the idea that i'm going to be this uncomfortable for next couple of weeks is really, really annoying!! Def no more clearing out cupboards etc for me, goign to have to content myself with changing the sheets and barking at DH to do the hoovering today!!

weehector - mmm, Daniel Craig! I know weepie movies and comedies are supposed to be good choices for getting labour underway, not sure if ogling hot men is an effective tactic but it sounds like fun!!

sparkle - i'm the same, loads of twinges etc but sleep seems to make them disappear! maybe we should stay up all night tonight?? lol

lovely and sunny yesterday and today in Belfast, supposedly tomorrow too. going to try and make the most of it cos after that we'll prob be straight into autumn Grin hope everyone is well!

PS) blueberries Sad sorry to hear about the weepies but at least your mum was able to come and help out and she'll just be at the other end of the phone and we're all here if you need a good rant!!

Urgh! Just made a big veggie fry up for me and dh as we were starving. In the 15 mins it took to cook up I went from starving to utterly green with nausea. Managed a few beans then had to leave poor dh and come up to bed. Typical! Was really looking forward to it! Not sure now whether it's 'a sign' or just my iron tablets - not had any problems with them so far and I'm on day 7...

sorry ladies, finding it hard to keep up whilst staying with my parents, will make an extra effort next week as mum is back to work :( and DH isn't back for another 10 days.

Just popped in to say huge congrats to nichy (good choice of name, the exact full name of my brother) and jamie, really like the name mia but my mum works at a school and 'knew' a mia, frustraiting!!

Nothing much to report from me, other than i managed to squeeze a couple of drops of colosturm (sp?) out this morning, just as well I read it was bright orange otherwise that would have freaked me out!! Properly packed my hospital bag today, it was all there just not in the bag properly, now off food shopping with mum and going to pick up some labour snacks, what do you recommend ladies? I hear percy pigs are the top dog. I'm thinking of going for apricots, nuts etc.

love to you all my ladies and good luck to anyone who feels close :)

vix I had horrible nausea 2 weekends ago, thought it was a sign of the baby hormones releasing & cancelled all my travel plans (obv now feel completely stoopid when I remember I was worried about travelling 45 mins away). Don't mean to burst your bubble & did read that you can get a wave of nausea 24hrs before labour kicks off.

Still here, nothing to report except bloody gunk However, DH has been dragged whimpering from the corner to the bedroom for services. The MW recommended at least 2 orgasms (mine) & some prostaglandin delivery. Prostaglandin has been delivered and the Half Time score is Daniel Craig 1 - 1 Mr Weehector. :)

Something seems to happen when the acupressure points are stimulated too. Any idea how long you need to keep at them for?

Off for a walk & some Italian ice-cream.

blueberries I know the feeling, my mum was here for 3 weeks, 1 before Samson turned up and 2 afterwards and I bawled my eyes out when she left. It's been a lot harder since she went as well, if nothing else she did all the washing up :)

Chulita · 14/08/2010 17:23

I just uploaded a photo of Samson if anyone's interested.

sob. sniff. hiccup, thanks for the borrow of your bosom weehector feel much better now. and thanks for the kind words sparkle chulita and littlemiss. dh even offered to take me shopping if it would stop me weeping! not often my canny scots husband offers to open his wallet. Unfortunately, I was feeling too miserable to exploit his offer otherwise I would have wheeked him off to Tiffanys faster than he could blink!

Hope everyone else has had a nice saturday despite the rain. Off to demolish an apple crumble I made earlier with lashings of double cream Grin [ puts second crumble on table for sharing]

Hello Ladies!

Right quick update.....

Came in to hospital yesterday to be induced and was given an examination, I was 1cm and was given propress, this was kept in for 24 hours, I was examined this morning and was 2-3cm and my cervix was quite soft but the other end of my cervix was still firmish which means that I could't have my waters broken. I now have to rest in hospital for 24 hours and they will start me on the prostin gel pessery and see how I go.

I cried a lot because I missed my little girl and I was frustrated at the situation. My lovely friends rallied round and I now have freshly made Thai food, cream cakes and the loan of my friends iPad! DP came in with DD earlier and that made me smile.

I am much happier than I was earlier
