babyducky · 12/08/2010 08:33

Oh forgot to say hi to cazem :)

Thanks for coming to say hi to us & telling us all about your special day for belle, it sounds lovely, take care xxx

thedogwalker · 12/08/2010 09:13

Good morning

Congratulations to Star, Neenz and Doodley.

I'm with you Baby, I've got 3 days and it might as well be 3 weeks, no signs of movement from my LO. I've now resigned myself to being late, then I won't be disappointed when Sunday comes and goes.

My Mum flies over tomorrow and she's staying for 3 weeks, so the LO better arrive at some point whilst she's here Hmm, otherwise I will be spectaculary (sp??) late.

Cazem, your posts still reduce to me tears, but wow I think you and your DH are amazing and I really hope his health improves soon. You and Belle are often in my thoughts. So glad you can still come on here and share your thoughts with us.

Well I hope everyone has a great Thursday...anybody else near to popping????

Take care xx

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/08/2010 10:51

didn't get over to sleep til 4am - had to resort to working on thesis bibliography to bore me to sleep in the end lol

kind of want to see the meteor shower tonight, tho, so hoping to get a good nap this afternoon :)

hope your LO will be en-route soon dogwalker - maybe they are just waiting for their granny to arrive?? keep us updated anyway!

16 days til due date - feet still puffy, heartburn killing me and sleeplessness continues. not sure whether i want LO to arrive asap to put me out of my misery or if i need to catch up on some sleep first!!

thecoffeelady · 12/08/2010 11:06

still waiting........

vix206 · 12/08/2010 11:14

dogwalker I'm feeling much the same. Due on Monday and get the distinct impression that baby is very comfy right where he is (even if I'm not!)

I keep flitting between - come on let's get this going and abject horror at the thought of what labour will be like. I am a control freak and the fact that I have no control whatsoever over how/when it will start and what will happen is really starting to bother me.

But on balance 'come on baby let's get you out' is definitely winning today, I just want to meet my little man!!

thedogwalker · 12/08/2010 11:21

Vix I was like that everyday, I'm such a control freak too, just wanting to meet him. I was convinced he was going to come early having been 3/5 engaged since 35 weeks, but oh no, he's far too comfy to pop out.

I was waking up every morning disappoitnted that my cx hadn't got worse and so now to stop the disappointment, I just think to myself that I've got at at least another 2 weeks to go, that he will be seriously overdue before he decides to meet his Mum and Dad. I just keep telling myself, as long as he is safe and healthy then just plough on and it will happen when he's good and ready.

vix206 · 12/08/2010 11:23

Actually one change I have noticed is less movement, he still moves if I stroke my bump and when he does wriggle it is extremely forceful - but he has gone from being active throughout most of the day to maybe 3 active periods each day. I know he's okay because inbetween those times he'll perhaps have a little shuffle or a bout of hiccups, but definitely less wriggly. I think I read somewhere they do tend to calm down a bit prior to labour.

Reflexologist yesterday said that she thought my feet felt like I was ready to give birth any day. Hey ho, we'll see!

Pamplemousse are you okay? I saw your post last night but as I haven't given birth yet I didn't feel qualified to answer. I have had similar pains over the last few days just on one side. But I just think if it feels at all reminiscent of when you had an infection you should get it checked out - just to put your mind at rest.

Nikalah · 12/08/2010 11:23

I'm outraged! Another 2 jumping the queue Wink Grin This happens to me in Sainsburys too!

Joking aside... Congratulations Star & Doodley!!

vix206 · 12/08/2010 11:25

dogwalker I actually just wish I could have a contraction because this is what is freaking me out, I've had no Braxton Hicks (that I know of) at any point and no contractions. I have zero idea of what to expect and I just want to know!!

I've also been 3/5 engaged since 35 weeks and everyone has been hyping me up saying 'he's going to be early', even the midwife was hopeful he would be here before she went on holiday (today). I was hoping so too since (despite her being a bit scatty at times) she is so lovely and was so excited about our home water birth that I felt really safe with the thought of her being here. Oh well, now if I go really overdue she might be back from her hols!!

vix206 · 12/08/2010 11:26

Nikalah surely it has to be any day for you now! I'm thinking lots of positive thoughts for you :o

pamplem0usse · 12/08/2010 11:40

vix yes, thank you, pains died down. Spoke to my midwife and she thinks the pressure of (TMI!) projectile vomiting last time probably really irritated the ligaments (I also had muscles in my leg going into spasm, yuk).... which are now struggling because of the fact my fundal measurement is 43 and I'm carrying around a monster 8lb baby at 38 weeks + 1.5 litres of extra fluid! Nice! Am rather hoping things start to kick off rather soon though...
star and doodley congratulations....
And to Nikalah thecoffeelady and thedogwalker I'll keep my fingers crossed that your little ones get a bloody move on!
Does anyone know what 3/5 engaged actually means?! Apparently my LO is, but he/she has been doing lots of engaging and popping back up (naughty) so I'm hoping it means that head is now stuck down there!
Was messaging with Jaysfourth as she has the same polyhydramnios issues as me, and she said to let you all know she's reading and thinking of you, but what with iPhone use in hospital it's quite difficult for her to post!

Happy thoughts to all! I managed to swim 20 lengths this morning, yay! And my radiator cover has arrived, which means more painting but hey ho, the nursery is likely to be completely finished by the time baby arrives (expecting my lovely hand made bags by the weekend!)

xxxx

cazzybabs · 12/08/2010 12:11

pamplem0usse - they usually write down what they can feel. So 3/5ths means they can feel 3/5ths of th head and 2/5ths of it is in your pelvis. But if this is your 2nd child it is a bit meaningless because they tend to pop in and out of your pelvis.

Ladies - will you get move on!!! It is a bit boring waiting for you :)

Palace39 · 12/08/2010 13:00

Aussie- nasty isn't it! I'm hoping i'll find a way of positioning myself to relieve it slightly. Talking of DH whining- as i was hobbling on my crutches to antenatal yesterday dh complained loudly at how much the antibacterial gel we used on the way in was stinging his hand as it had got into a little cut. Honestly. I just looked at him.

Feeling a bit more positive today about the induction tomorrow. Although MIL has gone into overdrive already. It nevers rains hey...

Congrats to Doodleydoo (we share due date actually) and Star!! xx

Alicetheinvisible · 12/08/2010 13:33

Hello ladies.

40+3 and no sign (well, other than the on/off early labour signs)

Bored now, just want to have this baby so we can get on with becoming a four person family iyswim?

This baby has been 3/5 on and off for weeks now. Heartburn almost non existant in the last couple of days though.

ElusiveMoose · 12/08/2010 13:46

Huge congrats, Doodley and Star!! Looking forward to hearing what name you choose, Doodley (we're still stuck on a shortlist of about six).

Alice what is it about 3/5 palp Grin? I've been that for weeks, too. You made me smile about wanting to get on with being a four person family; DS is very into numbers and counting at the moment, so I told him ages ago that we were going to go from being a 3 person family to a 4 person family, and he's been going on about it ever since. Actually, he's really in my good books at the moment. At pre-school yesterday he got a merit sticker for being polite, plus he asked the new girl to hold his hand on their walk because I'd told him to be nice to her (he's usually allergic to holding other kids' hands). And then last night he was being quite whingey, and when I asked him why he was sad, he said 'Because it's August but the baby hasn't arrived yet' [heart melting emoticon].

Lovely curry with the girls last night. I felt like a stereotypical 20 year old lad, actually, because I went in and basically said 'Right, I'll have the hottest thing on the menu' Grin. Doesn't seem to have done much; but having said that, I have had really persistent backache for the last 24 hours now, so fingers crossed.

neenz · 12/08/2010 13:50

Congrats Doodley and Star!

How did your first night with the twins go, Star? Are you getting lots of help with your DD, I don't suppose you can do too much having had a section. It must be hard, I am ready for killing my DH because he just doesn't see the jobs that need doing (general tidying etc) so I am doing them myself. That is fine cos I am pretty well but I keep thinking I would be going mad if I'd had a section.

Vix, sounds like your LO is ready to come any time! Fingers crossed for all the other fed-up August mums-to-be Smile

Alicetheinvisible · 12/08/2010 14:15

Elusive cute! I think DD is getting impatient too actually. She knows that baby brother is going to bring her a pink camera because she asked him nicely Grin She keeps saying she is going to help mummy change his nappy and bath him. I was worried how she would cope with having a new addition but she does seem keen. DH is possibly more fed up than me!

Bought DD her first riding hat today - very cute!

Neenz you still need to take it easy!

neenz · 12/08/2010 14:17

Alice, you're right I do need to take it easy but the mess just drives me mad! He will do whatever I ask but I hate to sit there saying 'please do x, please do y'. I am my own worst enemy!

Alicetheinvisible · 12/08/2010 14:28

Can you not just write him a basic list? Just say "while you are home could you do these things please?"

neenz · 12/08/2010 15:24

Alice, lol, yes I should do that, but then I'd just sit there thinking 'why haven't you done x,y and z yet?'. He is outside at the moment building his new lawnmower HmmGrin. He's not so bad really Grin

marzipananimal · 12/08/2010 15:26

men can be funny with housework can't they? My DH has been fantastic at looking after me and helping round the house but he just can't see dirt like I do (nothing wrong with his sight by the way!) so there are some jobs I don't bother asking him to do.

Hope yours starts taking a bit of initiative neenz!

neenz · 12/08/2010 15:36

I'm not holding my breath Marzi Grin
