We must be due for another baby...hasn't weehector had hers yet?? Grin

Congrats summery and neenz! :) neenz I found this labour waaaaay more painful than DD's...so odd Hmm

mrsZaC I got loads of stretchmarks at 41 weeks with DD, this time I got a few more pretty early on but I'm hoping they'll fade!

Seriously though, make the most of being able to (hopefully) sleep longer than 1.5 hours at a time. I've been surviving on about that since little Samson turned up. He's gorgeous but so noisy and wants to feed all the time. Last night he did go from 11pm til 2 then 3 til half 5 but the rest of the time he was grunting/snuffling/half-crying so I was awake for most of it. Then of course he settles back to sleep just as DD gets up for the day!

LCRLCR · 09/08/2010 19:50

christ just got narky email from my manager (now that I'm on 3rd week of mat leave) chasing my completed performance appraisal that sets my gols for the coming year! Could I be less interested?

Welcome new babes and well done Mums, you are all amazing. I am getting excited / scared EEEEEEK!!!

vitapulchra · 09/08/2010 20:03

Neenz--Just wanted to say again how happy I am for you. Daniel Jacob is a beautiful name, and hope he's settling in nicely now. How are your twins taking it so far?

I have to agree with you about second labours being more painfulin my 2nd the decrease of time was inversely proportionate to the increase of painat least it was over much more quickly! It's said that in subsequent labours your contractions are that much more powerful and efficient, a concept I've always found strange, as if your body practises with each labour and gets better and better at it.

Best of wishes to all of you ladies still at the top of the list! Hope so much that your LO's come soon.

I've also taken the liberty of lopping off a few names from the list--I've checked to see if they've posted anywhere on mn recently and if not, off they went. If they want to "come back into the fold" I'll let them, but only if they ask very, very nicely. Wink

Nothing much to report here, still losing my mucus plus (how much of it is there!!) and the cramping are getting quite painful but no pattern. Has scared me as not sure how I will cope when they get worse Sad

LCRLCR bosses can bebloody daft at times, like you're going to care about your goal for this year outside having a gorgeous baby!

Alice hope baby decides to ruin your plans (in the nicest possible way Smile)

vix, hector very jealous, bump is covered in stretchmarks and has been since 28 weeks even bump is apprently quite small and neat according to midwife.

hector thanks for the baton and four leaf clover, promise to give it back as soon as I can but suspect someone else will get there first, my money is on Alice.

Also having problems with people asking on facebook, in an attempt to stop the endless questions I updated status to 'promises to tell everyone when the baby arrives' and immediately had someone come back saying 'I guess that means your at the hospital'!!!!!

Aussieng · 09/08/2010 20:22

Congrats Neenz & well done for getting through it all at home. Bit Shock at you and Chulita finding this birth harder - I'm trying to blank that out as I am working on the theory that next time will be much easier and faster!

Chulita - we have had a few nights where J seems to be asleep but he makes all sorts of grunts and snuffles (and farts!) which keep us awake. I'm not sure how to get the balance between being alert quickly when he cries etc and drowning out the snuffling and grunting so we can get some sleep Confused.

Come on ladies - time we had some more news...

Aussieng · 09/08/2010 20:24

La la la la la at Vitapulchra too - could you ladies posting about how it gets harder put some kind of warning first so I can skip on by!! Wink

LizzieA · 09/08/2010 20:31

Congratulations on the new arrivals Smile

Nowt much happening here - no pains, no BH, no show Sad. I'm so ready to have the baby right now but he doesn't seem to want to comply! I saw my sister earlier and when she told me that she thought I hadn't dropped I wanted to punch her - there's nothing like the hormones of a pregnant woman is there?

I got excited last night when I popped upstairs for a wee and instead spent an hour tidying the airing cupboard, I thought it might be a nesting instinct and I'd be jumping the queue but I've been held to the sofa by an invisible force all day so laziness prevails!

Nikalah · 09/08/2010 20:44

Elusive thank-you for your advice. I REALLY don't want to be induced at all, but I'm pretty sure my dates are as per my original notes 27th July which makes me even later.
The baby's movements can be quite erratic, so I can sit here trying to make it move for a couple of hours then it will go nuts! + the general unhelpfulness of the system in my area gets on my wick too! Anyway a lot calmer this evening so taking each day as it comes.... and have stoppped googling!!

And you're right about parents - my mum wants to come round every day to 'sit' with me!! Very sweet, but Arghhh!!

WeeHector - def number 1!! Grin

weehector · 09/08/2010 22:09

nikalah if life was fair, it'd definitely be you :) But jamiejay appears to be out in front just now. If it's any consolation, my sister decided to phone me to tell me that her friend's waters just went 10days early.

Just had a glass of chilled white wine, first in 9 months. Bliss!

Emster30 · 09/08/2010 22:19

weehector direct them to this website: Have you had that baby yet?

cellyd we must meet for that coffee soon! Will text you! I was nervous about the trip to London, mainly because I didn't want to get too tired, but it was nice. wouldn't have done it without DH!

My stretchmarks started appearing at 32 weeks and they are all over my tummy now, yuck. I used Bio Oil religiously too but it didn't help. I'm still using it religiously and hopefully it will help them fade. hmm.

JamieJay · 09/08/2010 23:11

Nikalah hope you go soon, happy to pass the baton to you as I don't think things are progressing here at any speed and you are even more overdue than me

Lots of opening thoughts for you Grin

Doodleydoo · 09/08/2010 23:19

Just wanted to let you all know that I was in pre-labour (fing painful) got the hospital 3-4mins apart and bastard contractions then jumped back to 8 mins, got monitored and had more horrid contractions and an internal - 1cm wtf? Nothing, anyway I was told I could go home (thankfully as antenatal ward horrid with some odd peeps in!) but with some cocodeine to get some sleep and since then have had very irregular contractions - so boring so I don't think anything is going to happen now - was thinking baby bound to come on 13th August as its a friday and i am a little superstitious! Anyway my consultant told me to come home, have cocodeine, nice hot bath and large glass of red and I would sleep like a baby. Well just took the pills and had a long sleep but now the contractions have pretty much subsided and feel really depressed about it.

Glad to see so many have arrived!

vitapulchra · 09/08/2010 23:24

Oooh, Aussie, that's not really what I meant! Every subsequent labour has been quicker, faster and more enjoyable Shock than the last. I just meant that the contractions felt stronger. Would this cheer you or anyone else up? Established labour:
1st-7.5 hours, no pain relief
2nd-1.5 hours, no pain relief, no tearing
3rd-50 minutes, no pain relief, no tearing

After delivering DS2 I apparently turned to the mw and said, "That was brilliant!" or so DH likes to tell me.

Hope that's more encouraging than my last post, very sorry.

Would anyone like to place a wager on whether I'll have an accidental homebirth this time?

OP posts:
JamieJay · 09/08/2010 23:43

Doodleydoo sorry to hear that things have slowed down for you, hopefully you'll have a good nights sleep tonight and things will kick off for you in morning. Everything crossed (well apart from your legs Grin)

vita based on how quick you 3rd went I think a accidently homebirth could be very likely!!

thecoffeelady · 10/08/2010 00:00

STILL NO F**CKING BABY!

I have done everything possible now and I mean EVERYTHING, and this baby is far too comfy where it is to want to make an appearance.

I am convinced that I am going to be induced again which I really don't want and if that wasn't bad enough my laptop charger has broken and I only have 15 minutes of power left on my laptop!

Angry
Alicetheinvisible · 10/08/2010 00:03

Coffee breathe...... Ok, so we are officially overdue now, but only just. Plenty of time

(Yes i am pissed off too, can't get comfortable to sleep)

bouncingblueberries · 10/08/2010 01:46

Mucho sympathy to the overdue ladies - it's no fun. Pass the time torturing your friends and relatives that phone to "see how your are" by sending them the link that emster posted - hilarious!

weehector double dare you with a cherry on top to post #2!

Well, I've missed so much over the past couple of days, so apologies for lack of personal replies but we've been in cluster feeding hell. Great that G wants to feed so much and can feed so much, but my tits are about to fall off! So very very tired and ds1 has been in the wars so it's been a stressful time recently all round . Hey ho. Onward and upwards girls, nothing else for it!

Congrats neenz on your homebirth!

Promise to catch up better next time

Nikalah · 10/08/2010 08:40

Ha ha ha I think Coffeelady needs the baton more than me!!

Doodleydoo Sorry your contractions stopped - red wine though....yummy!

Doodleydoo · 10/08/2010 08:55

Not stopped totally, every 15 mins really strong far more than yesterday then took the cocodamol (get it right!) and was then having one bad one an hour during the middle of the night - am staying in bed as long as possible as we have a million builders here (builders, sparkies, plumbers!!!!) attempting to finish our kitchen and bathroom so you just know once I get up I am going to turn into a mooing cow!

(oh the shame!)

Besides, dd is having the best time at my parents and is off "shopping" with granny so will no doubt be spoilt rotten with endless entertainment and colouring pencils I would have thought!

vix206 · 10/08/2010 09:14

Good luck doodley, will be thinking of you! I'm back to not sleeping again, got maybe 3 broken hours last night and the same before. Really tired. And this morning dh asked why I was behaving so irrationally? Hmm, let me see; next to no sleep, 6 days off due date.... I wonder.

Bless him he's really trying it's just sometimes he seems to forget that I am a mess of hormones, anxiety and excitement right now and I try so hard to keep it in but as he's really the only other person I see every day it's inevitable he will get it sometimes!!

Chulita · 10/08/2010 09:26

Lol aussie, if it's any consolation, DD took 6 days from start to finish, DS took 26 hours so although he was more painful he was a lot quicker and as a result the recovery has been a lot quicker too! :)

doodley you'll get there. Plan something ^amazing* for tomorrow and you'll never get to do it Grin

coffeelady, alice, weehector and whoever else, sending popping vibes to you all.

blueberries I'm with you on the barely clinging on nipples, eek!

DD has just started coming up and giving Sam kisses, so sweet!

neenz · 10/08/2010 09:53

Morning! Sorry to all you ladies still waiting for your babies. FWIW I did lots of visualisation (baby moving down, cervix opening) last week, plus bouncing on birth ball and sex Smile. Seemed to do the trick but they just come when they are ready I suppose.

Vita, v jealous at your short labours! 50mins would be OK next time (can't believe I am thinking of next time!)

Daniel has started feeding well (didn't really feed at all in first 36hrs) so thats a relief. Bad night last night tho with just a few hours sleep. He likes to be cuddled but he's not so good at latchin on lying down yet but he did sleep on the bed for the couple of hours this morn. And he's fast asleep now of course Hmm. The twins were the same -they would be very settled during the day then be awake most of the night! The twins have been really good with Daniel so all's going well.

thedogwalker · 10/08/2010 10:09

Good morning all, hope we get some baby news today, some of you are so close, sending lots of good vibes your way Smile

Well the jiggy jiggy hasn't worked, so resorted to hard toil again. Windows cleaned inside and out and just finished mowing the lawn, what other, very tiring task can I do next????

5 days til due date but it might as well be an eternity away as I think he is just too comfortable in there.

Neenz I've been doing the visualisation and birthing ball but to no avail, so I don't think getting things started is a case of mind over matter, shame.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday

Palace39 · 10/08/2010 10:13

I'm jealous i want mine out now!

Due to SPD and awful Sciatica i'm now on crutches so after various teary phonecalls and impromptue visits to the midwives office i am going into hospital tomorrow for review- they may admit me for exhaustion (the pain is just unbearable), they may induce me, they may tell me to sod off. I'm at a point where provided they give me some drugs i would be happy to be admitted for bed rest. I'm knackered. 39 weeks today and baby has become 'un-engaged' now, little monster.

And if i trip over these crutches once more i actually will scream.

Well done to all those who have delivered already!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2010 10:23

COngrats neenz!! Lovely name and glad to hear Daniel is feeding well etc :)

dogwalker - i've been eying up the windows in my house too lol let me know if any of your housework has any effect!

weehector - sounds like a lovely date night, def a good way to make last couple of days go past that bit quicker if you can enjoy yourself!!

No movement for me here - 18 days til due date so not really that surprising! But all the crazy energy I had last week for cleaning and cooking is quickly dissipating - I've been shattered last couple of days and, like you vix, I'm really restless at night now, which doesn't help.

I'm doing my best not to think about it as 'waiting for baby to arrive' cos potentially i could still have up to 25 days to go (gulp!) and i'll go crazy if i keep thinking 'today is the day' every day. but it's difficult when you feel huge and tired and pretty much everything is ready for LO's arrival. anyway, going to just doze a bit this morning, wash some clothes, tidy up the kitchen and go for a walk this afternoon.

good luck anyone who has had a sweep and is patiently waiting for things to kick off!
