PS) pample - are you out there? we're nearly due date buddies and i've just noticed you've been pretty quiet over last day or two... have you popped??? or are you in the process of doing so??

i'll know there's light at the end of the tunnel if you have Grin

Alicetheinvisible · 10/08/2010 10:50

Hello ladies Smile

Think i may be in early labour now. Up in the night and have constant pain and pressure now, although cx a bit random. Off to hosp for consultant app this afternoon so will see.

Leaves treacle sponge out for ladies who need it Smile

Doodleydoo · 10/08/2010 11:11

palace, try not to get induced however painful you are - my induction for preecl ended in emcs and was horrid to recover from, inductions seem to work for baby wanting to come and over due but not before. Consequently I can't be properly induced any more which is a bugger and have to have monitoring when in labour so that my scar doesn't rupture Sad so staying at home until really can't bear it any more now as got hooked up to a monitor yesterday and all my contractions stopped Hmm and really need to be on my feet for it to work I think! Off to do some ironing!

mrsZaC · 10/08/2010 11:14

yey alice hope this is it for you, and even though it's still breakfast time for me I'll gladly take some cake!! doodly hope things have progressed for you today, I might be right and we might get a sudden influx of babies born on the same day! how exciting!!

So sorry about those whom are fed up and overdue, feeling your pain & hope you get some relief soon.

neez huge congrats, what a nice birth story & lovely to hear he's feeding well, love the name daniel and jacob was one of my possible names but DH and mum don't like it as they 'knew a jacob...' Also glad to hear you think the visualisation worked, I've started to do visualisations about baby moving down and I'm sure he/she is more engaged, can feel baby doing something anyway when i concentrate.

palace ouch sounds like your in horrid pain, hopefully you can get some rest & relief soon.

Sorry if tmi, but has anyone done/been doing perenial massage? I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, obviously not wanting to explain exactly what I'm doing but has anyone got any tips? finding it more and more difficult but have to do it on my own as DH is now away at sea for 2 weeks.

Been getting VERY sharp vaginal pains yesterday and this morning when I got up in the night. ouch ouch ouch! and lathering myself up constantly with oil as my belly feels very itchy and I can feel the skin stretching a lot. Hopefully my mum to be massage will sort me out today.

vix still super impressed with your baking and it's on my list of jobs to do cuz I think freezing them is a great idea, I love to bake. I hope the house stuff is easing off a bit, I must admit I'm very Envy ad we still have got no movement on either of our flats, a lovely house that has come up in the right area too and I can't even look at it :( on the plus side now I've decorated the nursery someone is bound to want to buy the flat! Just off to gumtree to advertise our other flat for rent :( man I hate giving in WHY CAN'T SOMEONE JUST BUY THE DAMB THING!!!!!!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2010 11:15

Yay Alice!! Hope this is it for you - good luck at the hospital, we'll keep you some treacle sponge for when it's all over and you need some sugar :)

ElusiveMoose · 10/08/2010 11:18

Oh god, doodley, don't, I'm already dreading the whole 'being in labour with a house full of builders' thang. Ghastly. Anyway, it all sounds terribly frustrating for you, but I'm sure you can't have long to go now. And Cocodamol - mmmmmmmm Grin.

Good luck, Alice!! And so kind of you to make treacle sponge for us all while you're in labour. My favourite.

Yucky, horrid, rainy day here today. Really struggling to entertain DS this morning, but having to wait in for a builder who is seemingly never going to show up Angry. Actually, it makes me realise how lucky we've been to be pregnant in the summer, in some ways (those of us with older children, anyway) - when I can't just chuck DS in the garden for an hour or two, I really notice the difference!

ElusiveMoose · 10/08/2010 11:25

Sorry Palace, forgot to say poor you, sounds horrid. Hope you get some rest in hospital, even if you don't get a baby yet.

MrsZac I did perineal massage last time, but just haven't got round to it this time. The way I was told to do it was: sit on loo; insert both thumbs in fanjo; move them round the edge of fanjo in a sort of pressing-outwards horseshoe motion (ie starting at the clitoris end and moving round to the bottom end). Use a natural base oil to make it easier (almond oil is good). If it's not hurting a bit, you're not doing it hard enough. Sorry if TMI Grin. Can't tell you if it worked, because I had an episiotomy/ventouse before I got a chance to test my stretchiness, IYKWIM.

Alicetheinvisible · 10/08/2010 11:27

Elusive i am so glad that our plumber is all done (for now) because it means i can wander round the house in pants and t-shirt, and this morning DD and i had a huge bubble bath. Relaxing for me and entertaining for her.

mrsZaC · 10/08/2010 11:32

thanks Elusive I will try on the loo next time! at the moment I'm using one thumb with jojoba oil as can't get both round bump in the bed, maybe I'll find it easier on the toilet!

p.s. builders & plumbers when in late pregnancy/labour - doesn't sound great at all!!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2010 12:11

Don't talk to me about bump, loo and reaching round - had to try and wee in a sample bottle for MW yesterday. Not the easiest enterprise in general over last few weeks but nearly mission impossible yesterday!!

Good luck with the massage endeavours tho, mrszac, you're a braver woman than me lol

vix206 · 10/08/2010 12:16

mrsZaC decorating the nursery is definitely the best way to invoke sods law and get yourself a buyer :) 2 days after we'd sorted ours we got an offer! Having our mortgage valuation on the new property today so just hoping it all comes back okay, its an Edwardian house so could be a few niggles with it. It has all original doors and sash windows and the windows definitely need a bit of restoring but aside from that it all looked very solid so fingers crossed!

pamplem0usse · 10/08/2010 12:44

LittleMissI'm afraid not! Had my consultants appointment today and despite fluid levels still being v high and baby being v big (8lb at 37 and a bit weeks.... ouch!) they won't induce until term.....
Well.... 39+6. The consultant said 'Thursday or Friday, or maybe Wednesday' and I half cajoled, half bullied the midwife into booking it for the Wednesday. Apparently baby is still very likely to arrive early of its own accord so I could still win our family's baby arrival competition (I went for 12th!)....
Hope you're all doing well, sorry I've been quite, busy couple of days with family visits and stuff and haven't been sleeping very well! Will endeavour to keep up better!
Congrats on all the new babies and Alice good luck!!!!!
xxxxx

thedogwalker · 10/08/2010 12:53

Off for my second set of acupuncture Hmm. Not sure what it is supposed to do, but hopefully will help prep me for the birth.

Last week it made me feel sick. Within 2 minutes of having the needles inserted, I began to suffer from tunnel vision, hot sweats and then I felt sick and felt like I was going to pass out Confused.

So here's hoping today's session goes better.

ta ta for now

marzipananimal · 10/08/2010 13:46

mrsZac I had a couple of attempts at perineal massage but not sure I'm doing it right either (and not enjoyed it much!). Not sure quite how far in thumbs/fingers are supposed to go ie stretching the internals or the externals?

Hope the acupuncture is better this time dogwalker, doesn't sound like last time was much fun

I'm getting so bored waiting for LO to arrive, feel like I might die (of boredom) if I go overdue, so much sympathy to those of you in that position. It's just been sooooo long since I finished work (end of March Shock my contract ended) and just been doing bits and bobs but spending too much time at home since then.
And I feel like a horrible whinger when I'm lucky to have had so much time off and to be feeling physically fine too (on the whole)

weehector · 10/08/2010 14:04

Go alice we need our first baby of the week to be quick & easy. Too many tricky babies having a laugh at our expense at the moment. And the treacle pudding is yummy.

I've just left a message for the MW to call me. I'm caving in and now want a sweep this week as knowing they'd want to induce me in 5 days time is praying on my mind even if I'm sure I can push them into next week.

No advice I can offer re perineal massage sadly. I did have a bash but was left distinctly underwhelmed. Visualisation is another matter - if there's any justice in the world (which quite clearly my fellow Angry Overdue Ladies & I would dispute right now) my 'little flower' would easily get a Gold Medal at Chelsea.

weehector · 10/08/2010 14:09

Oh, Baby Weehector is very likely to be called Alastair. We're getting a tumble dryer delivered today and Alastair from the Home Delivery Network just called to say he'll deliver within the hour.

Do you think it's a sign?

cazzybabs · 10/08/2010 14:10

ElusiveMoose - sorry..now I have some more questions...

Did your sister only feed for 2 months because of the bp or because she didn't want to feed beyond that?

What was she on

My bp is still on the high side - the borrom number doesn't seem to come down at all - it is hovering around 95, but the top number is coming down. Really hoping it does come down!

Poppy is doing really well and has put on 8oz in 6 days.

CoronaAndLime · 10/08/2010 14:43

Hi,

Hope you're all well :)

Just popping in to anounce another August baby!

Baby Amy was born on Sunday (08/08/10) was due on the 2nd but never mind, shes lovley and well worth the wait Grin.

I had the shortst labour ever and only just got to the birth centre in time.

Will cach up and post birth story latter.
xx

thecoffeelady · 10/08/2010 14:55

Hello Ladies,

still waiting for some sign from baby to let me know that it is on its way. I am seeing the MW tomorrow so maybe she will do a sweep, I am then off to see the consultant on thursday as they have been concerned about this being a mahusive baby and they mentioned induction sooner rather than later, I will just have to wait and keep my fingers crossed that this stubborn little bugger pops out soon.

Nikalah · 10/08/2010 15:03

Congratulations Corona!!

Was this your first? Sounds like another good birth story!

CazEM · 10/08/2010 15:08

Hello August Ladies

I've been popping in every few days keeping up with the babies and hope this post finds you all well - congratulations to all those with little new arrivals (all beautiful names btw) and good luck to all those still in the waiting room.

Thank you for the thoughts on Saturday. Although very hard it was a lot more peaceful than I thought it was going to be. The build up to it all week was definately worse. We did lots of positive things for her and gave her a really special memory day.

We'd always planned to take Belle to the bear factory on the day we registered her, her first little trip out to get her first proper bear. We still wanted to have a bear for her so we thought Saturday would be a good day to go and do that for her. The bear is lovely, purple and sparkly. We named it Angel Bear and it has its own birth certificate for yesterday and everything. So now we have an Angel Bear for Angel Belle. Unfortunately we haven't got the angel costume with wings as yet, the Build a Bear Workshops only stock angels at christmas... luckily ebay stock all year around, so it should be arriving in a few days.

BearsRL&hash=item3a59ea433d

Angel Bear sat with Belle a while yesterday in her garden and is now sat in our cabinet, waiting for her clothes!

Will be honest had a bit of a blip first thing in the mall - there was a Mummy pushing along her baby in the same pram as Belle's. Bearing in mind we bought this pram back in January and have never seen a matching one out and about since - I got very upset initially; of all the days, why did we have to see it on Belle's due date. But then I pulled myself together and decided to see it as a sign from Belle.... she knew we were shopping for her, and wanted us to know she was there too.

After getting Angel Bear we went to the garden centre and got her a proper flower pot for her garden too - so now we can leave flowers in water looking tidy with her, rather than just lying on the ground. It looks quite pretty - lots of pink flowers in her proper pot as well as the pink heart we put there just after her funeral up there now. It will be perfect for her up there one day though. It all just takes time.

I wrote her a letter too, telling her everything that has been happening since she got her wings. I find writing on SANDS, writing poems, the letters - it all helps. I can really express everything I'm feeling when I write it down.

We also drove over 'her' mountain after visiting her then needed a long sleep afterwards because by 4.00 I was completely drained, but got up again and went out for a late dinner last night in Bella Italia in Cardiff.

Her due date ended peacefully, with us sat next to her photos with two candles lit, one from Mummy and one from Daddy. We blew our candles out at midnight and kissed her photo goodnight before going to bed. Oh how we wish we could kiss her goodnight and not just her photos. I'm sure her Great-Grandad does that for us every night though.

I think of you all regularly ladies and pleased to see lots of lovely babies arriving now... Wishing you all the best. Will catch up again with you soon.

Lots of Love Caz x x x

vitapulchra · 10/08/2010 15:12

Congratulations, Corona! I'm very interested to hear your birth story, too. How are you feeling? I've put you in the Arrivals Hall:

CazEM--It's so good to hear from you. What a poignant and special way you and Jon remembered Belle on Saturday. Your writing always brings tears to my eyes because it is so tender and selfless. Thinking of you and your family.

Btw, all the yesterdays should be Saturday. I copied and pasted some of it from my diary entry from Sunday. Easier than typing it all again I thought. Obviously didn't proof read it very well did I! :)

marzipananimal · 10/08/2010 16:02

CazEM - what a beautiful way to spend the day in memory of her. Reading your post has made me cry and I think you're amazing. Glad you're finding SANDS helpful xx
