Same here Skatrrrrs the Boyf comes to bed, oooh, 3 hours later than me, on average, so I'll have to lure him away from Tim Dowling in the morning...

Make the most of morning sessions! A bit hard once you have a baby/toddler wedged in between you both in the mornings!

2 rattles
A digital thermometer and a thermometer built into a dummy (GENIUS)
scissors
nail clippers
comb

I have just spent £80 in Bravissimo and own bras that fit again. One of the bras is an F cup. I refuse to believe I am an F cup. These are not my boobs.

Well. I iz a laydee of leisure.

I cried. got the most lovely presents; Sanctuary mum to be set, bottle of pink bubbly, boots vouchers and a massive whicker picnic hamper full of baby stuff - clothes, a teddy, muslins, rubber ducks, a teething ring, a story book, plus lots of other things.

Couldn't believe how much thought and effort went in to it.

So, what channel is the best shite tv on??? (might as well start as I mean to go on).

Cossie Please to avoid Jeremy Kyle as not to raise blood pressure.

honey The whole calcium/Vit D thing is a particular bugbear of mine. I spent most of my teens avoiding dairy due to fat levels. This of course is when us women need to be getting dairy down us to avoid osteoporosis in later life. I think a LOT of teenage girls/women fall in to this trap. Plus the whole "skimmed" milk thing infuriates me. Of course you shouldn't drink double cream and eat 1 lb blocks of cheese, but at the same time you do need a bit. I was also careful during pregnancy to keep my calcium/Vit D levels up - yes, I know the baybees will "take all they need" from us - but I don't fancy my teeth falling out in 6 months time tar very much. Pass the brie innit.

whole milk is only 4% fat anyway, lower than a lot of "low fat" food.

The skimmed milk thing infuriates me because full fat milk is really not a high fat food! There are plenty of things to worry about before what kind of milk you're drinking.
Same with yogurt. Yogurt is worse actually because the low fat stuff usually has half a pound of sugar in.

Lovely sounding presents cos, well done work colleagues.

Instant coffee tastes so much better with full fat milk IMO (or a big slurp of Baileys)

Moo that is one impressive shopping spree. Tell me more about the white vinegar though? Is that for mini moo to drink when he has the hiccups?

evening all, that sounds alike a lovely present, Cos.

Oh, and due to the amount of hormones pumped into cows and the amount of fertilizers spraysed on t'grass I would recommend organic milk whatever your skimmed, semi or full preference is.

will you be nesting for the next three weeks, COs?

Report

I finally checked my work's maternity leave policy. Tight as a gnat's arse. Most guttingly I miss out an entitlement to extra money on top of SMP because you have to have worked there for 2 years by week 15 before your due date. I miss that by about 5 weeks. Bastard bastards.

Muse any option to try and negotiate with them for it? Or is it a massive company that won't bend the rules for anyone?

Report
Muser · 30/07/2010 20:39

Massive company that is being killed by the Government budget cuts. There is no way they'll bend the rules. If I'm lucky they won't make me redundant. Luckily MrM earns significantly more than me so we'll be fine. It just makes me furious that it's such a crappy policy. 6 weeks full pay then straight on to SMP, unless you qualify for the company maternity pay which is twice the SMP rate.

White vinegar to clean the baby's bottom. Sink unblocker if things get really bad.

Muser you'll be amazed what alot of moaning can achieve. Worked for me. (on many levels actually)

1021 dog going crazy. no one taken the poor mutt for a walk yet. Father here all weekend doing DIY. I have locked myself in bedroom.

muser I feel your pain, I just get standard smp, so 6weeks a 90% then smp. luckily we get a 6 month mat break on our mortgage or we'd be shafted.

medee I do have some nesting plans yes I have freezer to fill with wholesome one handed eating meals for after, and the kitchen cupboards seem to need a full clean out.......

I actually decided last night that nesting is probaly just a way to aleviate the boredom of being at home alone when you're used to a full on busy job

Have had an eventful day already. Mini C had allergic reaction to a piece of bagel which he picked up and ate without me looking. Cue itchy eyes, hives and blotches on his face within minutes. Gave piriton and then packed him off to swimming lesson with Mr C. Admittedly I should have kept him home but Mr C is suffering from a very large hangover and would have loved to get out of the swimming class so I sent them off. Apparently he (mini C) was nearly falling asleep in the pool from the affects of the piriton. I feel a bit of a bad mum now. Anyway, he is fine now and bouncing around in his cot shouting "tick tock" and pointing to his clock.

Need to go and choose some paint and possibly wall paper this afternoon as having "the painters in" next week. what are the views of one wall papered in the bedroom and the rest painted? Is it cool or a bit outdated now?

OkieCokie · 31/07/2010 13:07

My company didn't really have a policy on maternity pay so I managed to negotiate 3 months full pay and the remaining 6 at SMP last time. It is not great but better than SMP. However, I didn't get anything in writing judging by the financial state of the company at the moment and the "you are all lucky to have a job" attitude I may struggle to get anything more than SMP this time.

Went for lunch today at one of my favourite restaurants and it was a complete waste of time. Food that looked tasty made me feel I'll. MrM offered to share his steak but I couldn't bring myself to eat it as looking at it made me feel ill.

Luckily the chocolate brownie with salted caramel icecream was acceptable.
