viksam no after i realised he was in a deep sleep, i do leave him in it usually downstairs as he hates crin downstairs he hates being flat which is a problem!

Gracie123 · 26/08/2010 16:44

Who said you are not supposed to swaddled after one month? I never heard that before. I swaddled DS till he was 5months. Blush

spiral we caused a bit of family scandal by refusing to baptise/christen DS, but everyone is over it now. We had a thanksgiving/dedication service instead which was lovely. I think we'll do the same for DD, but having just moved etc... It will probably have to wait until half term now.

You'll never guess who I met at baby clinic yesterday - NIXSTER! So random, but I heard the HV call her baby Dreya, and I thought there couldn't be many in my little area of Bedford. Turns out we live just two streets away from each other.

Nice to feel like I have someone I know in the town, even if it i from an Internet chat room!!

gracie i also read that they shouldnt be swaddled after 1 month but it didnt stop me from doing it the other day. The reason given was increased chance of s.i.d.s. However other places say it reduces risk, so much conflicting information for everything its just best to use our own judgement. brilliant that u met nixster, what did u say to her, did u just come out with 'are u on mumsnet?' how funny, my god, it is a small world.
Mylife Im with u on the three hour thing, then one stint, i think they would call it the core night of 3.5-4 at the most. I had him weighed again today, he is 8lb 10.5oz, so in 6 days he has put on 8.5oz, thats quite a lot i think and thats probably why he is feeding every 3 hours. Sounds like u done well tonight, hope u enjoyed ur drinky!
So its happy(3)hours in our house, although he has been a bit of a mare all day to be honest, DH came home an hour early and i was sooo glad to hand him over, i conked out on the sofa for almost an hour and felt sooooo much better afterwards. Dh has him at the mo, he is quiet but will scream as soon as we try and put him down, the only place he will go in in his bouncer, hence me asking menphis earlier how long he is in his bouncer for as i feel guilty leaving him in there for a long time, although he has never been in it for over half an hour.
Regarding christenings, we are not having Devon Christened or anything, we will most probably have a do for family and friends and I have already asked my sister and my best friend to be honorary god mothers, my parents are not impressed but its up to me and my DH and im not bowing to pressure from anyone.
DH has gone upstairs with lo to speak to his mom on the phone, i hope he manages to put him down in the moses, that would be a bonus!! although I wouldnt know what to do with myself, what did we used to do with our time before??

tsc I'm still breastfeeding and it's so, so hard at the moment! I'm knackered ALL THE TIME, one of my nipples is raw, I have a constant headache and I've been in such a bad mood! In the evenings, from about 5pm until bathtime at 8pm Iris is thrashing about on my breasts...taking in more air than milk which means she has lots of wind in her little tummy. At the weekend I came very close to throwing in the towel and introducing formula because I wasn't producing enough milk to keep up with this latest growth spurt. But I persevered and I'm hoping to continue until Iris is 6 months old. She's 9 weeks now and weighs 10lbs 11oz (6lb 6oz when born). I had no idea that breastfeeding would be so exhausting. And having to express a little for each feed so that she'll take her Infant Gaviscon in a bottle is adding to the fatigue I think. Hopefully today she'll go longer than 90 minutes without a feed! I don't want to become so preoccupied with breastfeeding that I miss out on the joy of these early days!

Sorry if I seem like I'm complaining...I love breastfeeding. Honest. Wink.

Managed to get Iris on a good routine now though. She goes down at 8.30-9pm and sleeps through until 5.30am. She dozed off again this morning and i managed to express 100mls of milk so I'm v happy about that as i'm off out for a few hours on Saturday and need to leave at least 400 mls of milk for my little milk monster. Grin

Morning all, Rileigh slept till 6am had her btl and went back to sleep. I hope she does that all the time. I woke at 4 with her grunting and wanting to wake for a feed but she was still asleep and i didnt want to wake her. I think at times i'm too quick to pick her up so i'm going to try soothing her instead. Anyway we are going to meet violet and becky today for bounce and rhyme after that a coffee. It will be great to meet them.

What a small world gracie, how are nixter and dreya? Are you going to meet up again?

Have to go drag ds out of bed for school be back later. Hope you all had a better night and are well x

How weird mylife Devon did exactly the same sleep last night then didn't wake up again till 7!absolutely brilliant!if he could do that every night it would make the colic easier to deal with! But 7 till 11 is a total nightmare. Just took him in to DH work,DH was so proud parading him around for all to see it was lovely,I'm having coffee in town now, would be nice to have some friends to meet up with, never mind at least I have u guys to msg! Sounds like we all had a decent night, long may it continue!

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/08/2010 12:32

I went to the surestart centre earlier and apart from the receptionist there didnt seem to be anyone around and I chickened out of going to the breastfeeding group ha!

Ill go next week...

Dylan slept from 9-12 then after a feed slept til half 4 but on me, not ideal but got sleep at least.

Chulita · 27/08/2010 13:23

mlic we just took the side off DD's bed (21 months). It's worked ok but she prats around for a couple of hours after bedtime and has since learnt to open her door. Getting her to stay in bed is pretty tricky but after 3 weeks I don't want to whack the side back on. She doesn't play in her room in the morning but she's never been that good at playing by herself.

dh try it! you might meet some lovely people :)

So sorry that's happened tsc. I actually had the opportunity to nap earlier when DH took DS out but I stupidly spent all Elles nap cleaning and doing laundry so that the CpN wouldn't judge me. She said I looked exhausted, so my plan may have back fired...

Nixster and I Facebook friended each other and I'm sure we will hang out. I'm hoping she can show me around the town a bit more. I can't seem to work out the pattern for when market is on etc...

Elle is being mega fussy today. Cries if I leave her sight line and is feeding loads. Hope its just a growth spurt and not a sign of things to come now that she is off her sleep inducing anti biotics!

Gracie123 · 27/08/2010 16:29

P.s as for swaddling preventing mobility and development, thats BS - like I said I swaddled DS for months. He crawled at around 6months an was walking at 9months. I wish it inhibited development... Wink

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/08/2010 17:25

Oh tsc I bet you were so mad at your DH. My DP did something similar last night, I was in bed, Dylan asleep in moses basket, DP comes out the bathroom and dries his hands on his towel which hangs on the bedroom radiator so quite low, whilst doing this he farts farts right by the moses and it was so loud Dylan actually jumped.
Luckily didnt fully wake though (nothing to celebrate he woke at midnight anyway)

Have pretty much been sleeping all day, Ive caught up on quite a few hours.
Feeling a bit shit though after starting the mini pill on Mon my period has come on in full force, one thing I did not miss whilst preg.

Emsie Hi, I really admire u guys who are still BF, i gave up two weeks ago and Devon is totally formula fed. Less said about it the better as it still makes me feel like shit. Anyhow before i threw in the towel i did express quite a lot, i had a tommy tippie hand pump and got threeish oz out after about half hour, i would reccommend an electric pump if u want to do it a lot though as they are a lot more efficient and dont make ur hand ache. I used the Medella in the hospital and it seemed really good, that make always seem to have good ratings. I would have thought that when u buy the pump they have the steralizing equipment with it, mine came in a tub so u could put it all in the mic and do it that way. I do know what u mean about it all, when i stopped BF we had to learn all that stuff very quickly and everyone on here has been really helpfull!
I too want to start excersizing but gona wait for my 6 week check, i do like the birthball idea though as Devon is really bad with colic and tonight the only thing that soothed him was bouncing in the bed, so that would be a really cool idea! He is now asleep on the sofa after giving me a dead arm holding him on my shoulder for hours.
I too have a stupit DH story, as above, Devon screamed earlier and i spent hours soothong him so he eventually dropped off half on me half with his head on a cushion on the sofa, I asked DH to check that he was ok...........so he flicked his nose......FLICKED HIS NOSE!!!!!!!!! WHY, why would he do that, of course Devon cried again, why wouldnt he! I could see DH felt bad thoyugh so i didnt labour it, but mmmmmaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn, how stupid!!!!!!!
Right going to do bottles and teeth and feed, off to Brum tomorrow so looking forward to seeing family. Hope u all have a good weekend. xx
