I feed whenever he wants it or whenever I'm not sure what he wants. He does tend to feed for about 10-15mins, then want more an hour later but that's what he wants, that's what he gets. I can't be doing with feeding times cos every day's different!

stac14 · 16/08/2010 12:01

fab weight jo what age is he now?

dh i feed on demand but as i bottle feed i do try to get her to take the full bottle. If lo nods off you could try stripping him down as a drop in temperature wakes them

tsc did you go to your parents? Defo get some sleep, i'm going for an hour just now lol

memphis gorgeous pic, totally agree you deserve a pressie, i'm meant to be getting something too lol
spireal poor you and mindy, hope your both better soon

chulita is that dp on paternity leave? It must be so hard trying to divide your time between the kids, helps your hubbys good. Lo is so cute, love the moses basket

hv was supposed to be here at 9.30 and hasnt appeared, not impressed as she hasnt phoned and when you phone there its an answer machine. How you meant to get them? I managed to get the pics of rileigh uploaded last night if you fancy a look x

I'm feeding on demand... There are no designated feed times. Wink I feed Mindy whenever she's hungry for as long or as little as she wants.

Though I am vaguely hoping for some manner of routine sooner or later. Hmm At the moment all I manage is dropping DH off at work and picking him up, and the odd appointment, at set times.

Everything else, I wait for the opportune moment, between feeds, nappies and naps!

Jojobil · 16/08/2010 12:40

He will be 7 weeks old tomorrow Stac :)

stac14 · 16/08/2010 12:58

spireal i'm the same, feel as if i never get anything done. Thankfully dp is good with housework lol

Wow jo he's a big boy. Rileigh should have been weighed today but hv got me mixed up with someone else so shes now coming tomorrow x

Dh21 I feed to a loose routine but I really make sure that Georgia has had enough before she finishes so if I feel her falling asleep I tickle her chin to wake her again making sure that she has definitely had enough, she usually feeds for about 40 mins- an hour at a time, then i know that if she cries an hour later then it's probably wind or tiredness, if it's ages until her next feed I'll try everything until giving in to the dummy. If only an hour/half an hour from her next feed then I do feed her, but again make sure that she feeds for long enough.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/08/2010 17:07

Thanks so much for your replies ladies, its very good to know Im doing the same thing that you all are!
Thought I might be doing something wrong as he doesnt sleep for very long periods during the day but I guess thats just him!

Jojobil · 16/08/2010 17:24

Frank has days like this too... Today he hardly slept. But I find if we are out, on the move then he does.

stac14 · 16/08/2010 17:39

dh the older they get the less sleep they have. Rileigh slept for ages yesterday but not much today. Your doing all the right things hun x

Hello everyone,
My first day on my own today as DH went back to work after 5 weeks Sad
I have done loads i think, did 2 loads of washing/drying/putting away. Did a big shop in the supermarket, changed the bed, went to the docs and had an hour conversation with my mom(when I should have been sleeping!)
Devon has been ok today, having several really good feeds,i changed the routine this evening in the hope that he woould settle a bit but to no avail and he has been really bad since 7ish. He is now asleep on my knee when he really should be in the moses!!TUT
my right boob is still leaking, anyone know when this will stop? Also who said about brown smelly discharge, coz i have the same, is this normal? Right im going to try putting this little mite in his moses, fingers crossed xxx

Jojobil · 17/08/2010 07:11

Hello!

7 weeks today!

Frank has finally smiled! As in smiled at us not just because of wind;) Once we got him to look us straight in the eyes as he seems to be more interested in architecture.. It took DH a long time of making faces, pulling tongue out, cross eyes etc... But paid off. :) We still have to "work" hard at it to get a positive response but the last couple of days his eyes light up and he gives us a cheeky grin. Anyone else? It's so rewarding!

Anyone else found it painful to have "relations" with their DH? We have done it for the first time as I was just not up for it before and I had an unpleasant sensation inside? I wonder if I have some sort of infection.. Or is it normal?
Probably not...

We are supposed to meet a friend and go to the park but the weather is awful so not sure.

stac14 · 17/08/2010 07:56

Morning all,

Lovely news about frank smiling jo we have had a couple here but as you say takes a bit to get it. This time relations have been easy but last time i got thrush and felt v.sore. May be worth asking your practice nurse.

viksam are you still expressing or on formula now? I think it can take a couple of weeks or so to dry up. You were very busy yesterday, remember to rest.

Anyone else struggle to get to sleep at night? I had a crap night and it wasnt rileigh. Begining to think i'm over tired x

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/08/2010 09:33

jojo aww lovely that you got a smile. I think Dylan is gearing up to it he keeps doing what looks like a smile.

The first few times with DP were painful but it was where I had stitches on the perinium and the pain goes after the first minute at the most.
Agree you should mention it to your nurse.

Last night Dylan slept from 12-4 then woke up again at half 5. It seems he'll do one stretch of 4ish hours and then its just an hour here and there, nice..

stac ur right, i do need to rest today. I seem to have a very busy day then a very quiet day, so its quiet day today. Although......i have to sort out the spare room coz my DH is moving out Sad he cant deal with Devons grunting. I must admit it is very difficult. He wakes up for a feed at about 2 then goes back down till 5ish then just grunts around for hours, i have tried more food, changing nappy, dummy etc but they only seem to placate him for a short while, does anyone else have this i think u mentioned it DH.
God, he has been crying all morning and i have just ket him cry himself to sleep for the first time, i feel bad and horrible but i know i have to let him settle himself. I can hear his belly working overtime but no poo, i wonder if i need to change his formula. I am not expressing at all now he is 100% formula fed, is there anything anyone does to help release the poo??
jojo im way to scared to have 'relations' with DH although id like to and so would he, it will be 4 weeks on thurs so early days yet i suppose. The bleeding seems to have subsided though, hope it stays away now.
Right, what to do?? sleep or shower....sleep i think. Hope everyones ok xxx

Emster30 · 17/08/2010 10:13

add me to the can't put my son down club - it is really quite wearing! i have to be holding him at all times, 90% of the time feeding, plus he has to sleep in bed with us as he just screams in his crib. will this really pass?

stac14 · 17/08/2010 10:41

I'll join that club, during the day Rileigh wants held all the time but honestly the sleep positioner has been amazing. Think she feels more secure and it helps her reflux.

viksam rileighs a grunter, farter and strainer. Hv and doc say its normal. You could try giving devon some cooled boiled water or gripe water. Wont stop him doing it but may loosen whats in his tum

dh are you feeling a little less sleep deprived?

After the cock up yesterday the hv is coming at 1pm cant wait to find out how much weight lo has put on. X

OP posts:
memphis83 · 17/08/2010 11:00

vik you can get a cow and gate formula for colicy or constipated babies, i agree with stac though with the cooled boiled water. it sorts Lyndon out in a couple of hours my hv says babies arent always hungry it could just be thirst so i start with a few gulps of water before the milk.
Lyndon doesnt grunt but he fidgets im cosidering putting him in his own room after he wakes for a feed as he is silent until that point! Lyndon strains all the time while i feed him like its his party trick to fart on demand! maybe i should stop giggling when he does it?!?! Grin
stac hope LO has put on weight, im considering weighing myself on the wii then holding him to see what he weighs as i reckon he is now 11 pounds but his newborns still fit him, the 0-3 outfits are all crying out to be worn but the crotch is still at his feet, thats what he gets for his parents being short arses i suppose !!!

Chulita · 17/08/2010 12:02

viksam DH slept in our bed once since Sam was born, he's been working and he just can't take the noise and constant wake-ups. Thankfully this is his last week and then he's off for a while so he might move back in. I hate not sharing a bed!

mlic isn't it a freaking nightmare?? I cuddle DS all freaking day and it's driving me mad...just a phase, but he doesn't want to feed, he just wants me all day long. My mum had 5 boys and she said they were all the same...

stac I'm joining you in the HV cock-up, was looking forward to asking them about tongue-tie and finding out how fat Sam's got but they phoned in sick...grr!

Ahem, that 'DH has not slept in our bed... Blush

I'm hoping to get Sam checked for tongue-tie soon cos I can't figure out whether it's thrush, bad latch or tongue-tie - all I know it is frickin' hurts. I've started an anti-thrush diet but you have to cut out all sugar, yeast and dairy Confused so what exactly can I eat?? Dry shredded wheat and eggs...not good bfing fuel.

We haven't had roaring sex-fests either yet, I'm still bleeding so not too keen and Sam's barely ever asleep long enough for more than a quickie which is more than either of us have enough energy for anyway - oh the joys!
