Morning! :)
As always, I've forgotten who has said what...I have such bad baby brain at the moment Blush . Loving the photos of all of your beautiful babies - tsc, chulita, DH21 - our babies are all getting so big and chubby! Love it!

Had a bit of a difficult night with Iris. We forgot to finish off her last feed with baby Gaviscon and the poor wee soul had an upset tummy all night. She wasn't crying - just grunting and kicking her legs frantically. DH got up with her at 3.30am after an hour of listening to her...and managed to get her to drink some Gaviscon using some expressed milk. Took 2 hours for her to get back to sleep though. And after that she woke every 15 mins or so. Fed again at 6.30am and is now snoozing in her swing. I also managed to express 180mls this morning - woohoo! :)

Off to the in-laws this afternoon - looking forward to it. It's great to see how much how joy Iris brings to everyone's faces!

Stac - I have been strict about making Saturday our 'Family Day' - no visitors, no '5 minute pop-ins' - just the three of us spending quality time together. I hope you manage to spend some time with your LO today - don't feel you have to let your partner take her to his mums...your Riliegh's mum and more entitled than anyone to spend quality time with her! Smile

Is anyone else freaking out about the whole sterilisation thing...? i feel like the microwave is constantly on sterilising bottles and breast pumps and teats....surely there can't be that many germs in my kitchen!!

Gracie123 · 15/08/2010 09:20

viksam the bleeding thing is totally normal. You usually get a bit more warning if you are bfing (tend to bleed after feeding) but I think it lasts around 8 weeks. I wouldn't stop wearing towels before 10 personally - just to be safe! Wink

kkfairybrains · 15/08/2010 12:56

vik its me that does it that way with just adding the formula to the cooled water. like mylife said i've read it too that you should add it to hot water but then the health nurse told me to just add it to the cooled water and she gave me a booklet that says the right way of doing it (making fresh each time) and then the way to do it if you need to make bottles in advance and its just to add it to the cooled water.its worked for me so far without any problems but i can understand what mlic is saying cause i've read that too somewhere. each to their own i suppose! and wrt bleeding i started gushing again over a week ago and it went on for days really heavy then settled a bit so im kind of thinking it was my period. its kind of gone now but then last night there was a browny yellowy stuff coming out and it was smelly.anyone know what this is about?
dh even through your sleepless nights and the hard time your having your talking about another one!
tsc lovely kids!

kk i was shocked at the comment dh made on having another one, i think my dh has now started thinking i mean it that he will never be able to touch me again!!!so another baby for us would be a miracle Grin
on the issue of steralising bottles i only have mine on in the morning and at night so i make bottles with cooled boiled water in the mornings then same at night so i have enough for 1st few feeds the next day.
vik regarding the bleeding im not sure, as i hemmoraged i didnt bleed just had pinky discharge (sorry tmi) but every now and then i get a gush of blood out of no where, it is very odd!!
got Lyndon some wrist rattles today he loves them on his playmat going mad with them now!

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/08/2010 14:53

Thank you secondcoming your LO's are gorgeous too!

When are you going to Wales?

stac14 · 15/08/2010 19:33

hey ladies, i had a look at all the new pics our babies are coming on leaps and bounds. I uploaded a cpl of new ones of rileigh if you fancy a look.

Thanks for your advice regarding dp, he didnt take her anywhere he was too hungover. We had a brilliant night out, i totally enjoyed myself as i knew my kids were safe. Rileigh slept for her aunt from 10.30 to 5.45 i couldnt beleive it hope this is her settling into a routine. We bought her a sleep positioner from mothercare as it helps the reflux and its fab as the lo has to cushions at either side so i think she felt more secure. May be worth a shot for people struggling to get a sleep and its only £15. Will post later rileigh wants fed x

finaly been able to get a pic on my profile, it was taken a week ago and his face and gone very chubby since!
dh i hope your dp proposes soon! hows Dylan sleeping? im getting an eternity ring at the end of next month, want to leave it a bit longer to get it in case my fingers change size as i wouldnt be able to have it resized! i argued my case of deserving one saying i had a terrible birth and pregnancy was a bit hellish at times, plus he got a new motorcross motorbike this weekend so i deserve a treat too Grin
going to but a dress for this wedding tomorrow, got a slip to skim over my lumps and bumps just wish belly was a little flatter!

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/08/2010 09:10

aww memphis he is so sweet, I love how they sleep like that Dylan does it too and makes himself jump lol.

He slept from 10 til half 2, had a quick feed and slept til half 4 but then he was groaning and grunting, feeding on and off, changed his nappy and wouldnt settle, hes finally asleep on me now.

I expressed 2oz yesterday which DP gave him and then he went on the boob, I could easily have expressed more but the little pot would only hold that.
I think next time ill express straight into the bottle.

Im going to Primark today woohoo! Its horrible outside and Ive got no warm clothes for Dylan so Im going to layer him up and put him in the sling (which Ive never used so wish me luck!)

Ack tsc, deffo head to the parents if it'll help you get some shut-eye!

memphis he looks so snuggly :) Very cute!

Sam was a pain the whole of yesterday. He only slept for 2.5 hours the whole day, from 6am til 11pm...I thought newborns were supposed to sleep 18 hours a day Hmm I was so pissed off by the evening, and sobbing cos my nipples hurt sooo much and I'd been feeding him to try and get him to calm down. DH took him from 10 til 2 so I could sleep which was lovely, I got a full 4 hours in a row! :) Sam was up every 2 hours after that but at least I got some sleep! I need to get expressing a bit more so DH can do a couple of feeds every now and then, it's just hard to find time to express when LO's asleep cos DD wants attention, and if LO's awake he has to be on my lap or he screams...

Morning all! Hope everything is going ok today for everyone. :)

Heading up to your parents sounds like a good plan, thesecondcoming. Trying to keep topped up on sleep appears to be an essential part of maintaining sanity! I find everything much more of a struggle when I'm tired.

Loving the pictures being posted, all the LOs are adorable! I need to post a more recent picture of Mindy, but I'm just holding off at present as I still think she's on the verge of learning to smile and want to take smiley pictures. :) I was sure I got smiled at earlier, then she burped loudly, so now I think it might have been gas. Blush

Also, you can add Mindy and me to the thrush club... :( I was wondering why I started to be unable to touch my nipples with the towel after showering again, when I'd been able to for a week or so! No white patches on me, but Mindy had a few on her tongue and my nipples have become dayglo pink. Hmm

Doc has given me some gel to use and Mindy has some oral drops... From her expression when I give them to her, they're disgusting! Banana flavoured, by the smell.

From looking around MN this what I've been given isn't very likely to fix it, but I figure I'll give it a go and mention it at our 6 week check if it's still not resolved. However I've been using the meds for a couple of days now and I think I might be feeling a bit better, and Mindy is more settled. But it could be a placebo effect...

Mindy is having a good day, today. She's been dozing or laying awake in the safe sleeper all morning since her last feed at 7:30am, letting me do all the chores around her. She seems to like the sound of hoovering, so I guess my floors are going to be kept very clean!

Hopefully she'll have a good night as well... She was in a nice pattern, sleeping 10pm until 3:30am, with a quick feed, change, feed before settling straight down until I woke her at 7:30am. But she's sleeping an hour shorter now and taking longer to settle. :( Possibly because her mouth is a bit sore?

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/08/2010 11:16

Those of you who are breastfeeding, whether its on demand or not.
What do you do if you feed your LO, they then nod off but wake after an hour or so (or sooner than you were hoping) and they want feeding again, do you feed them as soon as they want it or do you make them wait til their next 'designated' feeding time?

Jojobil · 16/08/2010 11:23

I feed on demand so yes - if he wants it he gets it:) Seems to be doing him good as he is 6 kg or 13.22 pounds!
