Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Utter tossers, ignore, ignore, ignore. Then report the twats for being ignorant bastards.

Ledkr Sending you good luck and happy thoughts for tomorrow

sempereadem deliaskis cler and cheesechomper congratulations on your news! cheesechomper I second what everyone else is saying about the fact that your baby is more than likely to be fine and that there are loads of positives for you to focus on.

kat so sorry to hear your news.

My scan went very well, baby was asleep for most of it, which made the measurements fairly easy to get, but it woke up and turned around a few times towards the end. It is still just as amazing second time around - I forgot just how perfectly formed a baby can be so early on - a really lovely thing to have been able to see!
My due date has been moved forwards to 6th Feb too, 2 days before my 35th Birthday instead of 2 days after, making me 12+2 today. NT measurement was 1.3mm which I understand to be normal. Am waiting a week for blood results though, which will give me my final risk analysis, but am feeling pretty reassured by what I saw today.

cler unbelievable!!! What a sad sicko. Agree with tadjennyp's advice wholeheartedly.

americanexpat · 27/07/2010 21:13

Scan today was fine! I'm feeling quite relieved now that it's over. It seems a bit more real now that I've seen him or her (I was starting to wonder if I'd imagined the entire thing). My due date has also been moved up to 4th Feb.

newdad75 · 27/07/2010 21:18

Hi all, sorry not been on for a while - but have been trying diligently to keep up with all your posts.

So sorry to hear the sad news of those who have left our not so little group (especially you Knitternottwitter hope you are doing ok...)

Just wanted to say that we have had our 12 week scan. All's looking good with little Runner bean (looks like that name's stuck!). Saw a strong heart beat, hands and feet and his/her massive head! Got to do the Downs test as well and we came out as low risk so that's another relief.

It seems that so many people I know are also having babies right now. One friend and his lady are due today, but nothing yet as of writing. And another guy at work told me today that his wife was pregnant as well - 16 weeks, so a month ahead of us. Didn't tell him my news as I haven't been given permission yet...

Anyway sorry for the waffle. All the best to those of you with scans to come in the next few weeks - fingers crossed you also get good news.

And bring on the 2nd trimester!

ledkr · 27/07/2010 21:19

thanks for the stats update professorlayton

Have just uploaded my scan pics to my profile if anyone wants a peek.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 27/07/2010 22:33

Aww, another cutie!

I so want to just fast-forward three weeks now...

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 27/07/2010 22:34

(last time DD was due on the first of the month and it was far easier being one of the first on the group to do things. This time I am learning the virtue of patience... )

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 27/07/2010 23:16

I appear to have, ahem, accidentally booken myself an early scan for tomorrow... I was just looking at the babybond site to see what they offered, and noticed that my local one did have an appointment slot available for an early scan tomorrow but not for another week after that, and that they took immediate bookings online with a credit card, and I had a credit card there and it just sort of happened...

I blame all of you having scans today. But I think it's the best option. I look blatantly pregnant now (really, I could model for one of those prehistoric fertility statues) and there is no way I can keep this quiet from family for another three weeks. So if tomorrow's scan shows that there is in fact a baby there I can start telling people when I see them. And if it doesn't then at least I know before everyone starts assuming that I'm pregnant anyway and I have to un-tell them.

Glad to hear good news on all the scans and love the piccies put up

PLIMLS hope it goes well today. I wish I would accidently book myself a scan given I'm probably not getting one on NHS until 20 weeks, but we've spent £220 on 2 private scans for scares around the 7/8 week mark...so can't really justify further cost. I am debating buying a doppler though.

I have no bump, just pure jelly belly. I love how as I tucked into my morning pack of crisps half an hour ago (it's still one of the easiest foods to go down when nothing else can be swallowed) there was an article on the news about how bad it is to be overweight in pregnancy....{looks down rather miserably at disguistingly large flabby body and sighs}. I just can't wait until I stop feeling sick and am able to eat my usual healthy foods. This junk is the only thing I can eat and I've put on tons.

Most of my dresses are empire line so I imagined I'd be in them for ages into pregnancy as they have quite a bit of give in the tummy area, but I didn't factor in the growth in the chest area - they are now getting really tight to do up.

smallblackflowers now you're feeling better are you still on your meds?

americanexpat · 28/07/2010 08:26

professorlayton - and

applecharlotte · 28/07/2010 09:37

angels - morning. Just to let you know my doppler arrived in the post yesterday and its the best £30 I've ever spent! I've yet to have my 12 weeks scan and was getting impatient so bought an 'angels sounds' (how fitting!) from amazon.

If you get one, just to say make sure your bladder is full as I can only pick up LO's heartbeat if it is. It's really reassuring and a nice bonding experience.

Hope the rest of you have a lovely wednesday. Its great seeing all those scan pictures

I have put on 4lbs this trimester but feel as though its 40! Have a noticeable bump as well so need to start telling people soon... x

angels1 · 28/07/2010 09:44

Does anyone know if it's harder to pick up a heartbeat on a doppler if you have a big tummy to begin with? I'm guessing it has further to get through to find a heart beat.

Don't think I'll get one until I can drink again if you need a full bladder - I'm really struggling to drink as it makes me feel sick if I have any more than a couple of sips, so am hardly drinking anything these days. I dream of the days I used to down a litre of water every day before leaving the house to get to work (and then hoping I didn't get stuck in a traffic jam and be desperate for the loo!!).

£30 is a good price though - I thought they were more than that. Must give amazon a look.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 28/07/2010 09:52

Yes, it's harder to pick up a heartbeat the more flabby/overweight you are . It depends on the baby's positioning though whether you need a full bladder -- I tried it every which way with DS until I found a combination of position and bladder fullness that seemed pretty reliable (can't remember what it was now, of course, but don't think it involved a full bladder as I was doppling all the time for a while).

Deliaskis · 28/07/2010 10:05

Glad I'm not the only one with a noticeable bump, was starting to feel like a freak (as well as a real fatty) as I kept thinking surely it's waaayyy too early. I was large to start with and was wondering if it was just pies, but it really is in a completely different place to where I put on weight if I over-eat, and I have actually not put on a single lb since falling pregnant.

Congrats all the others with scan news. I realised this afternoon that the dating snafu is going to cost me money as the bloods I had already had done for NS are now null and void as taken too early and will have to have them done again (and pay again).

Had a completely unjustifiable moment of pique this afternoon when DH gave his Mum one of our three scan pics. I hadn't realised they were all the same so as long as we had one it didn't matter, but I still felt totally righteous about it! In fact, it's quite nice as she was overwhelmed and said she is going to put it beside her bed (I think that's nice, or maybe a bit creepy?).

applecharlotte I was soooo not even interested in getting a doppler etc. but your post has made me v jealous!

D

PDR · 28/07/2010 10:41

Right I've been to GP and the EPAC will see me tomorrow at 10am so fingers crossed my little bean is ok!
Off to rest but will update you tomo.

sweetnitanitro · 28/07/2010 11:57

I have had trouble fitting into some of my clothes for a few weeks now! I'll be glad when I have my scan next week and I can come clean.

Good luck PDR with your scan. I am actually not too nervous about mine- my car's MOT on the other hand....

Kez84 · 28/07/2010 13:55

I have an angel sounds doppler that my dh bought me last week from amazon. I was able to find the heartbeat after a few attempts, so definately a great purchase. I have my 12 week scan next tuesday so def looking forward to seeing baby again. I have already been in bigger clothes for a couple of weeks but thats probably due to the amount i've been eating. Good luck to everyone still waiting for scans.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 28/07/2010 15:07

Scan was fine -- one baby measuring bang on for dates, everything textbook, no causes for concern. Hurrah!

moonminmama · 28/07/2010 15:08

Hi all. I've only put 6lb on but have a VERY noticable bump! I haven't been able to fasten my pants for about 3 weeks. I currently have a bobble holding my top button together I did a lot of running before I got pg so lost weight at first because my muscle was disappearing (sob)

family are aware oh me being pg. Pupils at the school I teach at however don't so will have a shock when I go back after the summer

moonminmama · 28/07/2010 15:09

Happy to head your good news proff

TallulahBelly14 · 28/07/2010 16:45

That's great, Prof - really glad to hear it.

My weight hasn't changed so far, and I'm still in the same jeans. But I saw the NICE guidelines on the news this morning and I'm a bit confused about exactly how much weight I should be putting on, and how quickly. Or should I not worry about it?

And for those who have been exhausted for the first 12 weeks, are you finding that it's wearing off a bit now? I think my 3pm slumps might be getting a bit better - yay!
