Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ledkr · 26/07/2010 16:40

I'm not sure. I work in social services and can only look in files relevant to my card load and dh is copper and same applies. I can do some investigating after Wednesday but not at mo cos will involve coming out. the relative who was gossiping is a nasty poison dwarf and I intend to pay her a visit and tell her to get a life too. wtf has it got to do with ex family in law. ex dh has had 2 babies with girls under 20yrs old and doesn't pay for any of them including mine! There.I've had a good rant!

tadjennyp · 26/07/2010 17:27

Well you sound better off out of it ledkr - it's hard to imagine anyone being that irresponsible. Good luck on Wednesday.

starbuck05 · 26/07/2010 17:41

Ledkr glad your scan was ok, and good luck for the tests, good rant BTW.
Scubamummy your scan was so cute! I think it was yours anyway, not sure what has happened to my memory....
I have a 12 week scan booked for Friday the 13th - this is fine surely? I'll just avoid black cats and ladders on my way there right?
Sounds as though people's symptoms are still going with a vengeance - angels I suppose the timing is for the best but such a shame you can't enjoy your holidays, teachers work so hard. I have had pretty much no symptoms at all, feeding my conviction that I have a phantom pregnancy and am slightly crazy. If the scan is okay, I will be very very grateful in retrospect but kind of wish I had a little symptom now! Although I have been told by virtually everyone I see that I look "terrible" - yay!

ledkr · 26/07/2010 17:44

Thanks tad.just can't come quick enough. Had day off cos of spotting today but think I may go in tomorrow to pass the time quicker. Have been on sofa all day watching old ab fabs on dvd no more spotting. how are you?

PDR · 26/07/2010 17:44

Has anyone not had the date through for their NHS scan yet?

I am 11 weeks almost not not heard a peep.

Only hurry is that I would like the nuchal fold measurements done and think this has to be done before 13.6 weeks.

ledkr · 26/07/2010 17:45

oh and thanks star bucks too x

angels1 · 26/07/2010 18:15

PDR I'm 10 weeks and have had nothing - no booking in or scan, and haven't been given an appointment yet to have lined up. Don't think I get a 12 weeks scan anyway though (maybe you don't too - it seems not everyone does), so I'm just awaiting an appointment from mw. Think I'll wait another few days/week then ring my GP to check I have actually been referred. Wouldn't suprise me if they'd 'forgotten' to refer me!

PDR · 26/07/2010 18:21

hello angels sorry you haven't even been booked in yet!

I have been booked in so I know they definately offer the nuchal scan if you get your appointment within the necessary dates..... the midwife came to my house and it was all very relaxed so I am wondering if she has forgotten to book me in? That was over 2 weeks ago now...

Might do the same as you and wait until the end of the week then ring and check I haven't been forgotten!

tadjennyp · 26/07/2010 18:21

In a real can't be bothered mood, tbh. It's 10.20 am here and I have only just got the kids dressed and the telly has been on since 8am. It's already really hot outside and it's just draining my energy!

I would phone the midwife asap PDR as you need to get the date sorted.

zerominuszero · 26/07/2010 19:41

I got my 12 week scan lined up for August. Had to go to the mw at the GP's and she helped set it up. I would go mental if they hadn't done so as I am absolutely crazy for a scan!!!

starbuck05 · 26/07/2010 20:09

PDR it did take over 2 weeks from my booking in appointment to getting the scan date so might just be general NHS slowness. I would prob ring up if I hadn't received an appointment to be booked in though angels, at least when you're booked in you'll have some idea of what is going on with scans etc.
tadjennyp hope the heat dies down a bit. My brother is working in Texas and he is staying at work until 9pm just because it's too hot to be anywhere else.

Re confidentiality - anyone going into medical records will leave a trail. Can't remember who it was who was worried about this, but you can contact PALS if you are concerned.

earlgreyismynectar · 26/07/2010 20:25

Angels, when I first went to the doc when I got a bfp I was told I wouldn't be seen for booking in appt before 10 weeks. Who was I to argue? Things had obviously changed since DD was born 4 years ago! Turns out this was WRONG!! It was a new girl and I should really have been booked in around 6 weeks for paperwork then seen at 10 weeks for the standard bloods. I would urge you to chase that up, I appreciate it all varies from area to area but I don't think you will officially be in the "system" till you've had that which means you won't be in the queue for your scan date. No harm in chasing it up, the nuchal 11-13 weeks is an excellent arguement for getting your scan date to fall then.

Because I wasn't seen till 10 weeks for my booking in I too am still waiting for for my NHS 12 week scan date. Turns out that at 11+3 today the request is still in transit and I'm still not on the system! Luckilly for me I had a scan today and this is being classed as my 12week scan so I need to cancel my other date when it eventually comes through! Will be interesting to see when that actually is!

Good news on this baby - all well, strong heartbeat, what a relief! As it was lounging with its legs crossed she described it as "a chilled out fellow". I thought later, is fellow a ref to a BOY???! Could she have seen something extra at this stage?? Is that possible?! One more hurdle over, phew. Great news on everyone else's scan results, GinaFB it's magical isn't it?!

Sorry I meant to reply to more people's posts but I'm absolutely shattered and my mind feels a blank!

Good luck to all of you who have scans coming up, good luck for Wed Ledkr, I've started to chat to DD about it which is lovely, makes it more real! Not long for you now! Xx

Worried not to have heard from Chloe -- her scan was today, I think.

ledkr · 26/07/2010 21:45

I think you are right. maybe she is just enjoying good news and telling people. Let's hope so. I still have slight brown spotting on tissue now and then esp when do a poo. Am terrified it will turn red. What a worry this all is isn't it?

cler · 27/07/2010 07:08

I have my scan today and im proper worried and nervous about it.x

angels1 · 27/07/2010 07:33

hope the scan goes well cler and you get to see a little baby wriggling

yes I hope chloe is OK

Ledkr I know your scan is tomorrow but I'm not sure if you leave today or tomorrow for it. If it's today then I'll take this chance to say hope it all goes well and that it's not too stressful a trip.

earlgreyismynectar maybe you're right. I think my GP can be useless - I saw her at 4 weeks and she said she would refer me after I booked an appointment with her in weeks 7/8 (after I had had a mc last time - think she thought it might happen again). Then had to see her at 5 weeks about sickness meds and she asked me at that appointment if I'd heard from mw's yet, so I assumed maybe she had referred me after all. Then saw her at 8 weeks to be referred/make sure I had been referred and as I'd had spotting and needed a scan she wouldn't refer me until the scan came out OK. So, I was only actually referred (assuming she did it on the day I asked her) a week ago. I might give it a couple more days just to give them time to send me through an appointment (know these things take ages on NHS) then will ring surgery to check I have actually been referred! I'm still waiting with excitement to get my 'bounty' (??is that right??) pack!

Btw - last week I joined the 'cow and gate' club online for free samples/money off etc and at the week end they sent me a little pregnancy calendar and a little soft toy :} first toy for the new baby the calendar isn't that useful as everything in there is covered in the books I have/online resources, but DH seemed to find it interesting to flick through, and it's nice to have a little toy already (especially as it's free!!). You have to giver your due date when signing up so I assume I'll get vouchers over time for when baby is born and starts being the age of having their products.

SemperEadem · 27/07/2010 08:14

Morning Ladies,

I am having my scan this morning too Cler. I am also very nervous about this one. I don't know why, just a bad feeling. I'm hoping its just nerves/hormones making me this way.

Hope everyone has a nice day. I will update later xxx

americanexpat · 27/07/2010 08:32

My scan is today as well, woke up in the night worrying about it. I was feeling a bit sick this morning so hopefully a good sign. I don't know how I can be expected to work under these circumstances, at least my boss is on holiday...

Deliaskis · 27/07/2010 09:11

Hi girls,

My scan today as well and I'm terrified. Actually sitting here at work (in office on my own) crying cos I'm so worried, despite having no actual reason to worry and lots of reasons not to. I think I'm a little paranoid as big sis had a missed miscarriage and went to hosp for scan thinking it would be an exciting day and came home with very bad news.

I'm sure I'm just being silly.

D

PS Sorry if this upsets other people, I am sure we are all going through the same thing...

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 27/07/2010 09:27

I don't have a scan for another three weeks. I am seriously fretting. I've even ordered a more sensitive doppler (I have one from DS but it's a bit old and primitive) from eBay so that I can at least try to pick up a heartbeat before then, even though I know that most likely I won't be able to and will stress myself even more.

Best of luck to today's scanees!

smallblackflowers · 27/07/2010 09:31

Hi all, my scan is today as well. Am feeling quite excited at the prospect of seeing my little bean, but nervous as it is also a NT scan and I really don't want to have to deal with a bad result there.
My sickness has really eased off over the last few days, and I would be worrying that something had gone wrong if I hadn't been able to hear the baby moving, and occasionally, its heartbeat, with my doppler.

Deliaskis feel really for you in your office all alone and feeling down. I'm sure you'll be fine. How long till you set off for your scan? Mine is at 12.50.

Fingers crossed and best wishes to all with scans today - looking forward to comparing pictures later!

sweetnitanitro · 27/07/2010 09:34

Good luck to all those having scans today!

I had tomato soup for breakfast this morning

angels1 · 27/07/2010 09:44

Everyone is getting scans today it seems - I'm v jealous but understand the anxiety

Like the tomato soup for breakfast sweetnitanitro I had soup for breakfast yesterday!

DH 'homecooked' himself a meal last night of a veg, potato and cheese bake with veggies from the garden (one of his first attempts. He's probably got fed up with all the ready meals he's had to live off for weeks since I can't face cooking). I had 3 helpings! I haven't actually enjoyed food in weeks but this was tasty I think it makes all the difference having someone else cook it and not having to try to stomach cooking. mmm. He moaned though as I took all the 'best bits' (cheesy topping). Today I got my first incling to want to do baking in about 7 weeks (baking is my favourite hobby - I usually always makes cakes etc) - I hope this is a good sign and perhaps like smallblackflowers the sickness could be easing.....don't want to count my chickens though.

smallblackflowers · 27/07/2010 09:49

Loving the soup cravings! I really fancied a can of beef broth the other day - something that I tend to have in the back of the cupboard, but there was none there.....I then did a Tesco order including 6 cans of beef broth but haven't even had one yet, as my cravings seem really flighty.. perhaps I might have one for lunch today. Ooh and after the mention of savoury eggs I've had to have a pack of them, gave me terrible heartburn though.

angels pleased to see your sickness might be receding - will keep my fingers crossed for you.
