Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cler · 24/08/2010 22:14

I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks and im very excited but nervous at the same time. I have finally started to feel baby move now today at 18 weeks and it has got me down for weeks worrying. I have had a burst of energy this week for the first time since before i was preg and have made the most of it by decorating. Ive been getting alot of dizzy spells and going faint alot for past month but that is down to having low blood pressure.

smallblackflowers · 24/08/2010 22:21

Hi all, not been on for a while as been busy and too tired to even open my laptop on a lot of evenings. I've got my 1st glucose tolerance test tomorrow as had GD last time around, but not due to see the midwife until mid September, when I'll be about 20 weeks. Looking forward to sitting in the hospital in a comfy chair with my book for 3 hours tomorrow, but not sure how I'll cope with the fasting aspect as I still feel very sick when I'm hungry.

I've definitely got a rather large bump now, actually worrying that it is too big as my book says I should feel the top of my uterus about 1 inch below my bellybutton, but it is actually about level. Will ask at the hospital tomorrow if they don't seem too hassled! Have been feeling baba on and off for about a week now which is nice. Smile

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 24/08/2010 22:54

Now THAT is unfair -- I don't get to do a GTT at all this time as it's just assumed that I have GD again (seems particularly harsh as I only failed the GTT by a tiny bit last time). Bah.

angels1 · 25/08/2010 08:46

Morning, was thinking today if I can build up the courage I might manage to get to an Asda to look at their maternity range - anyone been there recently? Any nice bits?

Saw on TV last night rumours of Mariah Carey being pregnant as she performed in very loose in the tummy outfits (I'm a bit of a closet fan of hers since I was a teen, but shhhh don't tell anyone!!). I looked at the piccies and not sure. Tbh she looks like she's gained alot of weight overall so it's hard to tell, she might have just been covering her tummy as she's now a bit podgier there, which would be so embarassing for her now putting up with all the newspeople saying she has a big tummy!! But if she is, looking at her belly size she must be due round about the same time as us :) Also saw sam cameron had her baby a month early - wonder what they'll call her (hope they don't pcik any of my fave names or it'll look like I copied them!). Also wonder if it was a private or NHS hospital!

moonminmama · 25/08/2010 08:54

tallulah hope your move went well and are beginning to enjoy your new house. We moved house about 3 weeks before finding out I was pg. Good timing as we got the house all sorted but then the new carpets made me sick every day for about 2 months. It was by farther most awful 2 months of my life!! So glad that is over ( as is my ds and dh who I hardly saw because I had to spend the entire time in bed with all the windows wide open trying to sleep!)

ledkr I hope your headaches are easing off they sound terrible!

littlesilver hello and welcome Smile

angels I start back in a week. Am a tually quite looking forward to it. I am a geography teacher so don't have to deal with as much movement/smells as you. The 1st week back is all onset/number crunching so I'm being eased back into it!

Deliaskis · 25/08/2010 09:17

Morning ladies,

Having a nice day today. After 3 nights of terrible sleep interrupted by throwing up from horrid catarrh stuff, have finally had a lovely night's sleep and no throwing up so feeling much better today.

Busy at work at the moment and I am still feeling a little tired. Better than I was the first 12 weeks but still find things drain me more quickly than usual.

Have now lost a total of 9lb on this pregnancy, but have a bump which must be full of something, and feeling good apart from the last couple of days, so not too worried yet! I can tell I've lost weight off my face and arms which is nice.

Had my 16 wk apt cancelled as it was for bart's triple test and I've already had the nuchal so don't need it, but thought I would still have an apt. Haven't given anybody any wee yet and haven't had any results from bloods taken at 10 weeks.

D

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 25/08/2010 09:30

They'll have stuck the 10 week bloods results into your notes -- they only tell you the results if there's anything abnormal, so you can probably safely assume that your levels are all normal and you have antibodies to rubella but not to HIV, Hep B or whatever-the-other-one-is.

I'm surprised they didn't do a urine test at youe last appointment, though.

angels1 · 25/08/2010 09:36

I haven't given any wee either yet deliaskis if it makes you feel better. When I saw mw she said I'd need to but then forgot! Can you ring them for blood results if you're worried? Glad you're feeling better though in general :) (apart from last couple of days)

Oh, and I meant to say moominmama could your ms return be tiredness/overdoing it/eating something different? I keep trying really hard to put my ms on a controllable factor when it comes now (I'm a control freak so the feeling that I can have a say ver it even if it's not true makes me feel better). There's not always a pattern in it (sigh) but it definately is much more liekly to go downhill if I do too much and tire myself, don't eat regularly or eat fatty foods (those 2 croissants the other day seemed like such a good idea at the time....).

tallulah I might be asking you later for moving tips as we are moving dec/jan time. I have no idea how I'll cope with everything being packed/unpacked etc as I hate even when one room is being decorated and everything is disorgansied/moved - it really confuses me and I feel so disoirentated!

ledkr · 25/08/2010 11:23

Thanks moomin my more effective pain killers but I woke up with sore throat and snotty nose so hopefully the headache was part of a cold or virus and not hormones which is nice as means it will go. AM taking dd swimming then for lunch as she had rubbish day yesterday although my friend cleared out her dd room and gave mine the whole set of pet shop stuff which has kept? her busy.

knittakid · 25/08/2010 12:37

Hello all! just checking in, have not been able to read all the past posts, so this one is just so I don't have to look for the thread again. Hope you are all alright. I had a lovely two weeks in Spain, although eat so many things that could not remember if they were allowed or not... and then got a terrible headache and felt awful and started worrying I cought something from a prawn, or the smoked fish... hopefully not.
Will read posts later.

40Weeks · 25/08/2010 14:41

Hello everyone

I have not been on MN very long since DS1 born Dec 06. Number 3 due on Feb 24th 2011, very excited. Everyone thinks we are mad, though, funny how everyone is delighted for you first time round, and even second time, but now they are all saying, "Oh, was it planned?" Or "Is your telly broken?" Smile

Hope everyone is doing okay

40Weeks · 25/08/2010 14:49

Also, would appreciate any advice on what cars can fit three car seats comfortably in the back? Have a 7 seater but wouldnt be able to fit pushchair in!

WOuld need to fit a baby carrier, a forward facing seat and a booster seat

Thanks

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 25/08/2010 16:13

There are a few old threads on MN around the three carseats issue, if you do a search. I suspect we are going to need a new car but am waiting for a sunny not-too-rainy day to experiment with three carseats and the back of our Prius.

angels1 · 25/08/2010 18:28

Well, David and Sam Cameron have chosen not 1 but 2 of my possible girls names - Rose and Florence - what are the chances?! I'm wondering if it shows I have good or bad taste...?!

moonminmama · 25/08/2010 18:38

I love Rose and Florence so I would hope it's good tasteSmile

I've been for my 16 week apt today. All fine, I got to hear LOs heartbeat which was lovely. Although the mw did say she was going against policy because guidelines now say that they shouldn't do it till 24 weeks. I assume it's because you can't always hear the heartbeat and this worries people. She said I could listen but not to worry if we couldn't hear it. (but I could and it was greatSmile)

As for ms it has got a lot better but angels you are right, tiredness plays a huge role in how sick I feel. I get far worse as the day goes on.

ledkr · 25/08/2010 18:39

me too angels. Am fuming.Florence was my first choice and i WILL NOT use it now. I always keep my names quiet in case people copy. I have a 22 yr old Kyle which was very unusual at the time and then it just took off but i had it first so there haha my youngest ds is Derri and he is a ballet dancer so suits him fine and it never caught on.I have too nice boys name in case the early scan was wrong but now nothing for a girl(confused)
Am feeling bit better, did 20 lengths today woo. Throat is very sore tho so i think the headaces were the start of a normal illness.
Welcome home knittai was in spain untill monday where were you?I also had headaches there.I also gorged on smoked salmon and then thought maybe i shouldnt do.

ledkr · 25/08/2010 18:40

emoticons dont work for me. boo hoo

LittleSilver · 25/08/2010 19:13

Thanks moomin.

waves at smallblackflowers from TTC when BF thread.

I've just got an interview for a rather big promotion at work. Haven't even told my manager am pg yet. Argh. What to do??

40weeks we fit 3 nicely in a Zafira with big boot space. That said, this is DC4 for us and I will not be putting any of the DCs in the rear row as I think the crumple zone is inadequate.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 25/08/2010 20:04

Florence is in the running for us as a middle name, but Rose is my niece's name so that would be out anyway (and would sound terrible with DH's last name).

Take interview for promotion! Definitely!

smallblackflowers · 25/08/2010 20:22

waves at littlesilver. Lovely to see you here! Are you still BF or did you give up to get pg (can't remember...my brain is mush today from all the fasting I had to do this morning). Well done on your interview too Smile I second prof and say just go for it! I'm just about to start a job application for a promotion - have fessed up to the recruiting manager already when going for a pre-application chat (it was rather obvious and I didn't want her to think I was oddly fat around the middle Grin)

prof shame they just assume about your GD - I was on the borderline too, and diet controlled fairly easily, am also a stone lighter, so keeping my fingers tightly crossed that it doesn't come back this time. The fasting this morning was hell - there were pregnant women passing out left right and centre on the antenatal ward, and I felt shocking until about 3pm - still not good now.

Florence is a pretty name, but too popular for me at the moment - I have 2 friends who have chosen it in the last 2 years (and don't actually have that many friends with children). My sister had a baby girl last week and called her Primrose May - very sweet - will probably be known as Rosie.

My 20 wk scan is in 3 wks but I am predicting a boySmile

ledkr · 25/08/2010 21:43

Moomin . Was certain I was having a boy so when they said likely a girl at nt scan I was shocked. FInd out for def on 17th but kind of wish I wasn't going to but need to do the room really.
Does anyone else still get bit crampy at times? I had it last 2 nights but have a cold so could be that but feel bit worried.

moonminmama · 25/08/2010 22:08

Cranky as in tummy cramps? Yes I get it at least once a week! Doesn't last long but it's frequent.

As for finding out sex, I am v excited. We didn't find out with dc1 but want to know what to do with the nursery and whether to wash and get all ds baby stuff ready for next ds or bag it up to pass on or sell Smile

moonminmama · 25/08/2010 22:09

Oops cramps not cranky... Flippin predictive iPhone!
