Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 07/08/2010 17:44

I think we only need the carseat (gave ours to SIL and seems mean to ask for it back) as we have everything else already (gave clothes to SIL as well but there will be four months between our DCs so she should be able to pass them back when she's done with them).

angels1 · 08/08/2010 11:08

It's been pretty quiet on here the past few days. I've been lying low a bit as I thought you must have all been getting fed up of my moans!

Hope you're all enjoying the week end.

I've got my scan tomorrow (dot on 12 weeks) but ms has come back almost worse than ever the past few days which is making me really miserable - after a week or so of relief I thought it was on the way out :( I keep telling myself that hopefully at least I have a healthy little bean in there as it's making me so sick! can't wait to feel a bit better again though and hope this isn't a permenant relapse. I remember some of you saying you got worse at about the 12 weeks mark (was it chloe ??)..hopefully it didn't last long and did then improve??

Once I get the all clear from the scan I'm going striaght on line to get a doppler :)

Oh I can hear the sound of a vacum down stairs (I'm still in bed after a bad morning of feeling really sick). DH made some remark earlier about the house looking disguistingly dirty, and I keep finding cat hairs in my food (which I hate and really icks me out) which I usually keep under control with obscene amounts of cleaning and DH has a cat that drops hair everywhere (who sadly took a dislike to me straight away, we tolerate living in the same house but all I get is evils (from the cat, not the DH!!))...not that that's happened for a couple of months now. He's trying to be understanding but I think he's finding it hard as it's gone on for so long....and I think the sexual frustration is reaching epic proportions as I'm always too tired/sick for anything.

angels1 · 08/08/2010 11:10

btw the sexual frustration is from the DH and not the cat Wink

cler · 08/08/2010 12:41

I am 15+4 now and i dont even feel pregnant now and im sure i felt flutters last week but felt nothing since. Hopefully our little person is ok in there.

ledkr · 08/08/2010 12:55

Cler that thought has been going thru my mind too. occasional sort of flutters and throbs but don't feel pregnant at all but when you think about it still tired and hungry oh and moody. We are just waiting to leave for airport and dh went awol from 6am until 12 with phone switched off. had few things to do and pop into work but wtf? Have told him not to speak to me or we will row. Am feeling all irrational and planning divorce when we get back in two weeks.
Hope everything goes ok. might get a doppler too as I'm so symptomless

sweetnitanitro · 08/08/2010 15:23

Well, I have started my physical symptom watch. My hair is long, thick and luxurious- on my legs Angry. On my head it is stringy and greasy. I have also started to notice a bit of extra body hair on my little bump, I'll look like the yeti come February at this rate. I shall have to tell everyone it's a new winter jumper. I'd forgotten about this completely unwanted pregnancy side effect.

Ledkr, I'm sure all will be fine, DH and I have huge fights every time we go away, it's fairly normal I think.

PDR · 08/08/2010 16:36

sweetnitanitro I'm in the yeti camp too! Also noticed a few random long hairs on my boobs! Shock

knittakid · 08/08/2010 18:55

:) the other day I was in the bath and DH asked 'do you think you have more hair now?' looking at my tummy... priceless.
ledkr enjoy your holiday and forget about rowing, it's not worth it during your last holiday for a while! DH has started asking whenever I try to find somethign to row about 'is it an estrogen surge?' and then I can't do anything but laugh, unless I am really pissed off, of course.
Went this morning for a picnic at a lake and swam a bit, but my boobs kept scaping from my swimming costume... which reminds me, do you all get maternity bras or nursing bras?
angels1 I had a cat with sexual frustration, it was the same as a man...

Tarlia · 09/08/2010 08:19

Good morning! Our thread has been very quiet this weekend, hope this means you've all been having a lovely time!

11 weeks today!! Woo, I sooo hope this means one more week of sickness. Cross your fingers please! This means we are all nearly in the 2nd trimester, how exciting is that..

Does anyone have any exciting plans for the week ahead?

Grannyapple · 09/08/2010 08:56

Hi all-not been on for a while but have been lurking..13wk scan is tomorrow-feel ok, tho had what felt like slight cramping ( like period pain) for a short while last night then thought I had to go to the loo but all ok ( no spotting or blood). Nevertheless dh ran out to get some pg tests just in case...& all still positive at the mo. Hope all is ok, but guess I'll find out tomorrow-gonna be hard getting thru today & tomorrow at work ( scan is pm so taking afternoon off).

My knee feels like it is suddenly clicking & as if I have twisted it-haven't been running for like a month so can't be exercise ( unless I have been kicking dh on his sleep, but he hasn't complained yet!). Anyone else had anything random like that??

Oh knittakid-at this stage it's a maternity support bra. I went to john lewis at the w/e to get fitted & they were fab-recommended bras that were about £10-£12 each so I was well chuffed. Said to go back 3 weeks before baby due to get fitted for nursing bra.

Deliaskis · 09/08/2010 08:58

Morning ladies, I am back from a week at Guide camp, and am honestly relieved to be back in a warm house with bed and shower and proper loo! Yecking up in the morning when you're sleeping in a (small) tent is grimsville...

Apart from that, all is well though, am just still exhausted after week away, despite sleeping most of yesterday!

Haven't had time to catch up on all posts from last week but hope everyone is happy and healthy.

angels1 sorry to hear your ms has come back with a vengeance :-( . Fingers crossed it won't hang around long this time.

D

sweetnitanitro · 09/08/2010 09:01

Morning Tarlia. Wow, 11 weeks! It's just flying by. Well, it is for me but I've got a toddler keeping me very busy Grin

I'm off on holiday on Thursday, can't wait! It's not a 'proper' holiday, we can't afford one, but we're going to stay with my dad in Kent so it'll be a lovely change of scenery and we can take DD to the seaside.

Here's hoping everyone feels less sick soon :)

angels1 · 09/08/2010 09:17

speaking of getting close to the 2nd trimester (Tarlia) I've noticed some websites/books say it starts week 13 and others week 14 - anyone know?! I know it doesn't really matter, just a general wondering I had.

Scan later on - eek. Hope I manage to make it to the hospital after feeling so rough recently. Fingers crossed I have good news later on.

Think I've finally (better late then never!) started experiencing the need to pee all the time. Had to get up at 4 am for first time in ages and had the urge but managed to hold it in for the past few nights. So frustrating as our loo is the other side of the house down stairs, so by the time I'm back in bed I'm wide awake.

Sesame snaps and chocolate nesquik are my current food of choices that are getting me through Grin come on 'normal' appetite!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 10:26

I count "second trimester" as "after my NT scan" which is generally around 13 weeks. And I count "third trimester" as "after 28 weeks". So admittedly I wind up with a fairly long second trimester that way...

sweetnitanitro · 09/08/2010 10:50

If you were going to be precise then it would be 13.33333333 weeks but you'd have to know the exact moment of conception Grin

americanexpat · 09/08/2010 11:18

Fingers crossed to those having scans today, hopefully it's good news all around.

I considered 13+3 as the beginning of my 2nd trimester, but I've heard anywhere from 12w to 14w. I've been needing the loo constantly for the last week or so, feeling the need to go again 5 minutes after I've already gone. Hard to tell if this is a normal pregnancy symptom or a sign of something else, especially as I read that UTIs can be asymptomatic in pregnancy.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 11:40

Told the DCs yesterday (haven't had NT scsn yet, but scan a couple of weeks ago was fine, and I'm going to have to mention to my mother because we're staying with her this weekend and She Will Know, and I thought it only fair to mention to the DCs first).

They both voted for my preferred boy name (admittedly DD was just copying DS) so may have won over DH on that... of course, that means it will be a girl.

sweetnitanitro · 09/08/2010 12:34

Are they excited? Are you going to tell us your boy name or are you keeping schtum? We've got a boy name picked out but I think we are going to keep it secret, it's a little more unusual than DD's name.

I showed our scan pic to DD and asked if she knew what it was and she said 'tortoise'. Let's hope she's not too disappointed.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 12:41

Will probably keep schtum, at least for now. May change mind anyway. DD doesn't really understand the concept, I think, but DS is quietly excited (unusual for DS to do anything quietly).

angels1 · 09/08/2010 15:53

afternoon all, Just wanted to say had my scan and all good :) feel so excited now. It was waving and kicking about and we could see the spine bones etc. She was a lovely lady and took time so we got a good view. Had to have another internal ultrasound though :( she got a decent picture from an on the tummy scan, but I think the angle of the baby she said it would be better to see on internal. She gave us 5 pictures (although we did have to pay for them). Can't wait to start telling friends and family now Grin

knittakid · 09/08/2010 16:56

congrat angels1!!!
and thanks for the tip grannyapple.
My mum and grandma keep on saying that I have to take vitamin supplements, specially since I'm vegetarian, which they just can't cope with. What do you ladies think? I obviously take the folic acid, but is it really necessary to take more?

sweetnitanitro · 09/08/2010 17:19

That's great news angels!

Knitta I think if you have a balanced diet then there's no need, the baby will take whatever it needs, but if you are having a lot of food aversions/cravings then it might be an idea.

angels1 · 09/08/2010 17:20

I'm veggie and am gluten free (and avoid lots of things due to IBS) and I only take folic acid and vit b6. I only take vit b6 as it's suppose to help with ms but don't think my dose is high enough anyway. I occasionally take floradix iron, but keep forgetting. I think folic acid is the main important one knittakid. I got worried that I won't get a good enough diet whilst pg and asked my midwife if I might be able to speak to a dietician about it and she seemed to think it wouldn't be necessary, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

americanexpat · 09/08/2010 18:50

I'm veggie as well and have been taking a pregnancy vitamin which includes folic acid, as my diet hasn't been great lately. Had bloods done two weeks ago and haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming all is well and I'm not anemic. It's preventative really.

moonminmama · 09/08/2010 18:58

Hello all, I feel like I have been away for ages! I have had a very quick scan through the last 24 hours of the thread and things seem generally happy and well which I am really pleased to see.

We had family staying wed-fri and then went to in laws caravan in the lakes over the weekend. Both lovely but busy times so I am really glad to be home and able to relax a little more.

My ms is easing off a little althoug as soon as we returned from the caravan yesterday i was sick Sad first time in a week. Feel better today so am hoping it was a mixture of the journey and the reaction to the carpets (yet again)
