Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:

Great news angels-yay!

PDR · 09/08/2010 19:24

Glad your scan went well angels :)

Nothing much to report here, but there's some serious nesting going on Hmm I felt the urge to put the baby's cot up today (but I didn't!!!)

A friend has offerend to give us her hardly used double buggy and I could hardly say no so she's bringing it round tomorrow as she wants the space Shock! Good job I'm not superstitious eh?!

Just finished in the office and going to head home now. Got a craving for fish & chips - would that be soooo bad...?!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 19:26

Fish and chips high in Omega 3 which is good for baby's brain development (and some suggestion may help with morning sickness). Go for it!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 19:26

(Darn, I really want fish and chips now...)

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/08/2010 19:28

(I should point out that on my antenatal thread when pregnant with DD I managed to justify a mint Aero to another poster as being green and therefore practically a vegetable, so you may wish to discount my nutritional advice...)

cler · 09/08/2010 19:29

Im making the most of having abit of energy back so ive done lots of painting today. I really want to start feeling baby move so i can have reasurance.x

moonminmama · 09/08/2010 19:33

lol at the mint Aero comment! I have just eaten my first healthy (or rather non junk food) meal in about a month! i have a constant craving for junk food! I have alays had a sweet tooth so eaten a lot of chocolate, but now i just want stodge. Maccies, KFC, chippie etc. Ah well.

Angels Im so glad your scan went well. I have been unbelievably excited since having mine last week! I cant wait until sept 14th when we have th next one and can find out the sexSmile That is when my nesting/shopping genes will go into overdrive!

Tarlia · 09/08/2010 20:06

Hello!

With regards to vitamins over here we are told to take folic acid until 12 weeks, pregnancy multi vit throughout and 40mg of iron daily from 10 weeks till term (I will double check this tomorrow on my paperwork). I also have to take 70mg of vit d daily as my bloods showed I was slightly low. How many have I actually take? Not many!! I can't keep the damn things down, to the extent of the doctor telling me to buy some paracetamol supositires... yuk.

The doctor just said to start taking it all again once I can. I feel so damn guilty, but I guess so many never take them and often people don't know they are pregnant until 2nd Trimester...

Tarlia · 09/08/2010 20:12

SweetN it's flying by isn't it! Soo looking forward to the energy spurt.

I actually got excited about dinner tonight and nearly managed to cook a whole meal - my first in 8 weeks! I love cooking and baking so hope I can do more soon.

angels so pleased to hear about the scan!

Mmm fish and chips.. that alone is almost worth a flight to the UK for.

Loving the Areo comment :D

It's a pain scrolling back on the iPhone, so sorry if I missed anything I should have replied to!

Deliaskis · 10/08/2010 10:00

OK, so yesterday and today, I am starting to feel like I am coming out of the early pregnancy type stuff. No nausea for a few days, feeling less tired (still tired but not overwhelming exhaustion), and starting to feel like I am ready to (this sounds ridiculous) 'bloom'.

Told people at work yesterday so don't have to try and hide expanding waistline anymore.

Am still having the odd craving (I mean occasional, not actually odd like coal or anything), and I think DH is getting confused. Yesterday I took chilli out of the freezer in the morning after having a conversation with him about it. So he came home from work with 'oooh chilli tonight yum', to which I said 'no actually it's fishfingers'. He was a little surprised given that we have probably never eaten fishfingers since we moved in together 10 years ago!

Anyway, all par for the course I guess.

Stay healthy everyone.
Dx

angels1 · 10/08/2010 10:37

deliaskis mmmmm, fishfingers. They sound quite appealing at the minute. Which is worrying as I've vegetarian and haven't eaten fish for 15 years!

Deliaskis · 10/08/2010 11:01

angels1 I know how completely random! They were yum BTW!

A couple of weeks ago it was cauliflower cheese, and in general it has been cheesey things, except for first couple of weeks (before I even knew) when I kept wanting loads of red meat which I rarely eat normally.

As long as I don't get weirdo eating dirt type cravings I am just going with them.

Must be hard for you though, with the sickness you have had, as it sounds like you fancy things and then just can't keep them down anyway. Poor you Sad. Hope the MS is on its way out for you.

Dx

sweetnitanitro · 10/08/2010 11:58

I've been eating loads of cheese too, I think the baby must be growing its bones Grin

I don't know if this would be considered a weird craving, but with DD I couldn't get enough ice cubes, I would have a drink in a pint glass and more than half would be ice cubes. I sat and crunched them all day!

scubamummy · 10/08/2010 12:11

Hello ladies. So glad that scans are going well! Hang in there wrt the ms - it will get better and you'll feel like yourself again at some point in the next month or so!

I'm feeling a little down today - just got a job rejection from an interview that I had last week. I thought it had gone really well! I did tell them beforehand of my 'situation' though, so wondering now if that could have counted against me....kicking myself for telling them now, but it was with a former boss so I felt I had to be honest (and also wanted to share my good news with her!)

Boo...going to gorge myself on salt and vinegar crisps now :(

angels1 · 10/08/2010 12:19

This is so strange - sweetnitanitro I've been eating so much cheese too (and sadly it can't be the half fat stuff, it MUST be the full fat, and in the past couple of days I have 'discovered' ice cubes. I've been having ice cubes all the time in drinks/sucking them as they are. How odd - maybe I'm just 'text book' and these are all common.

deliaskis I alternate between wanting food and having quite an appetitite (for a small number of foods) and needing to eat but not fancying anything...Luckily I managed to cook myself a very plain and bland cheese and mushroom risotto for lunch today - first meal I've cooked for ages that hasn't included potatoes!

angels1 · 10/08/2010 12:22

oh, bad news on the job scubamummy. Just think of it like it wasn't meant to be. There will be another job that will crop up at another time which will be what is just right for you. Might not seem so now....but I really really think everything happens for a reason and it all works for the best in the end.

Deliaskis · 10/08/2010 12:59

sorry about the job scubamummy, but I agree with angels1, perhaps it just wasn't meant to be. I often think that companies that discriminate against women who are pg or even just women of a certain age probably aren't very forward-thinking/enlightened and probably not the kind of company I would really want to work for anyway.

D

angels1 · 10/08/2010 13:13

as if it wasn't annoying enough that next door have been hammering/drilling/banging on the walls for the past 2 days so loudly I keep jumpting and thinking they will come through to my house, and yesterday they varnished wood outside that absolutely stunk, they are now on top of all that doing something outside that involved using that utterly DISGUISTING stuff that stinks of chemicals. Don't know what it is but smells a bit like when DH uses that white stuff you put between the bath and the tiles to make a seal between the 2. The sort of stuff that says use in a well ventilated area and wear a mask and do not inhale as it's dangerous. I've closed all my windows, blocked up the great big holes that let air in (it's an old house!) with socks, and shut the windows, but the smell has already got in badly to the living room so I'm now banned to sitting in an artificially lit bed room. How miserable. I really feel like walking out and saying 'pregnant woman...this smell is dangerous to me (???not sur eon this, but pretty certain it's not to be recommended to inhale bad fumes inside) and is making me feel ill, please move away' but they have workmen in to do it.

I'm hoping for a really horrential downpoar of rain to stop them and clear the air Wink

Why do they wait to do this when I'm at home pregnant suffering with smells?!

pinkgrasshopper · 10/08/2010 14:24

Hi ladies. Just wanted to join the group if that's okay! I'm pregnant with baby #1, am 31 and live in SW London. Due 24th Feb, so it seems my stats are exactly the same as gigglet's!

sweetnitanitro · 10/08/2010 14:40

Hi pinkgrasshopper, congrats and welcome to the group :) How have you been feeling so far? Not too sick I hope.

pinkgrasshopper · 10/08/2010 14:56

Thanks! I was absolutely fine til week ten, but now I'm constantly knackered and nauseus if I don't eat for more than a couple of hours! Can't complain though as I seem to have had a much easier time so far than some people! Scan on Friday so beginning to get quite nervous...

girlinlondon · 10/08/2010 15:32

Hi, haven't posted for a while since the last thread. Scan went well though and have been re-dated to the 9 February. Been struck down by MS, being sick about 1 or twice a day and it is really tiring me out now. Roll on the blooming bit of pregnancy.

angel1, I seem to have ms like you, I can only now eat potatoes and cheese, with the odd meal of marguerite pizza and plain pasta. Can only drink water or very week squash. Sorry just to be moaning in my post, but I'm bored of it. I can't eat or drink anything and I can't go out anywhere, as if I do am just sick. Am worried the baby will come out made of potato.

angels1 · 10/08/2010 16:35

lol girlinlondon the idea of a baby made out of potato made me smile! I'm fed up too - I've barely been out in 2 months - starting to wonder what the outside world looks like and just hoping it starts going away soon.

Grannyapple · 10/08/2010 16:46

Hi folks-just back from scan & everything was perfect, couldn't have been better really! Nuchal measurement was within range, & as a result the probability results came out to 1:6302-no idea they'd be so precise!

So all properly confirmed now-and announced to the world!

Take care everyone x.

cordiality · 10/08/2010 16:49

Hey peeps, just checking in, had 12 week scan today, it was all very thorough and we got to have a good long look at baby cordial, who was being both lazy and uncooperative, so at least my DH knows that it's definitely his now!

They have recalculated my dates slightly, now EDD on 15th Feb, if someone could change me when they're redoing the stats. That means I am 13 weeks today, so I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent end of sickness and fatigue.

There were lots of lovely looking ladies sitting in the waiting room at UCLH and I couldn't help looking at all of them and wondering if anyone was in our little group! I think we should have some sort of secret password that we can say under our breath and see if anyone responds!!
