February 2011 babies... Getting to second trimester

Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

oh meant to say had my first ''when is it due.'' Today so must be looking proper pregnant now.

Hi ladies. Hope you're all good. Had the scan today and it was great to see baby with strong heart beat and it was moving around loads. Put it's fingers in it's mouth a few times! Found it all a bit emotional. Anyway, DD has moved from 11 Feb to 6 Feb (yay! 1 less week!) which I suspected as that's what my fertility monitor had kind of predicted. I have updated the stats accordingly.

Also had the nuchal translucency screening where the measurement was higher than average so instead of coming back from the scan relieved, I have just come back more worried. They said they would combine it with the blood and call within a week if I was high risk. I wasn't expecting this as I am 29 (no offence to the older ladies). Please keep your fingers crossed for me! I just hope I don't get a phonecall from an unknown number in the next 7 days!

angels1 yep the current plan is not to tell school until September. The only problem is that I always go in for GCSE and A Level results day and it might be a bit obvious at that point unless I wear something REALLY baggy

So not quite sure what's going to happen. And will be pretty difficult to keep off facebook once I've had my scan... but then, I'm not fb friends with many people senior to me. I guess if they find out through the grapevine it's not the end of the world. Hmmm.

I've just caught up, so pleased to hear about so many positive scans, makes me excited. Only 2 sets of twins in the group so far? We must be due a few more!

Sam, did you find out you are having a girl from the CVS.

All this talk of looking preg is making me worried.. I don't see any change for the most part of the day, other than bloated spells. I've not had any bleeding though so I don't have reason to be worried, do I?

Had my doubletest yesterday at the hospital in the vampire department. I was amazed at how quick she was, but boy it hurt and the hole looked huge, so glad I didn't look haha

Tarlia, I didn't show the first time around until I was about 19 weeks along- I was puking an awful lot though! The second (or third or fourth etc) pregnancy often shows more quickly because your stomach muscles are already ruined

sweetnitanitro thank you for that! Phew!! Maybe it has something to do with my all day sickness too. I'm losing weight not gaining.

Oh my goodness that took AGES to do manually. Hope I haven't made any mistakes!

Morning ladies! Soooo nice to have a lazy day off! Congrats PDR & SweetNilitro(sp?!) on your scans! I'm loving hearing everyone's good news! Reminds me, my date was brought forward from 11th to the 9th on the back of the 12 week scan. I'm on an iPhone here & not sure how to make the changes to the list. Can someone cleverer please move me?! I'm secretly still hoping for an 11th baby as that was my late dads birthday and somehow to no longer have it as due date it seems more possible!! I was 7 days late with DD so I won't bank on it!

Sam try not to worry about the nuchal measurement, wait and see what your bloods say and what you're advised. It's a worry for me too at 39, I'm waiting till 16 weeks for bloods to be taken for downs & spinabifida, see what the percentage comes back as.. Thought provoking stuff raising a lot of questions I know. I'm certain we would still keep our baby regardless unless a very severe disability was detected in which basic quality of life was compromised... Lots of luck with your results Sam x

Reading about over emotional responses to Dogs Trust adverts etc, we saw ToyStory3 yesterday and I cried a lot at the end, tears of happiness! Gawd! I wanted to keep my 3D glasses on!

Wanted to let you know my Angel Sounds Doppler arrived in the post! Well I had to pick it up from the PO and basically tried it out in the car in the car park!! Disappointed to hear no heartbeat and spent rest of the day worrying about a mmc. Tried at home, still nothing :( I was starting to think this was adding to rather than easing my worry! Last night though I heard lots of movement and a faint galloping racehorse sound (phew) and over to the other side a rhythmic whoosh whoosh of blood feeding into the placenta (I think). It was amazing and reassuring once I knew what I was listening for. I've always sensed the baby is on the left of my uterus from cramping in the early days and sure enough, that is where I am hearing the baby. I'd love to hear other Doppler experiences! I can thoroughly recommend this one. It's on Ebay, brand new for about £20 and comes with a bottle of gel. You can read reviews on Amazon. Important though not to worry if you don't find h/b immediately, I eventually heard it only faintly and I'm reassured by reviews saying that it wasn't picked up till 16+ weeks with many.

Hello everyone just wanted to let you know that I had my scan this morning. Everything looks fine and should get my blood test results back soonish. It was very scary but what a relief to the the littlun wriggling around! Now we can finally let friends and family know! :)

Thanks for your kind words Earl. It is thought-provoking stuff and obviously you can't help but think the worst. However, definitely keeping positive and no phone call yet (though I doubt they'd be efficient enough to process things from yesterday so quickly!).

Tarlia I assume your comment was for me as can't see another Sam! I didn't have a CVS. They just took a measurement of a sack of fluid behind the baby's head when they did the dating scan. The woman referred to the bean as a cheekie chappie so God knows if she saw something!

Just had call from the docs and I either have another urine infection or the one from a couple of weeks ago has not actually gone, despite a 7 day course of antibiotics....

Have been given more antibiotics (double strength this time) and told to call the out of hours service over the weekend if it gets worse (got awful backache type pain).

Doctor said if this lot of antibiotics didn't shift it we'd have to "take advice on further management" whatever that means

Going out for dinner with my girlfriends tonight and have been so looking forward to it so I am still going to go. It's not as if I would be drinking anyway and I can always come home if I'm feeling worse.

Have you tried lemon barley water PDR - I always found that to be a help? My bump is very obvious and I am only 13+2! In-laws are coming this evening and I am fed up with cleaning the house now. Hope they like the house (they haven't been before).

I won't have a dating scan due to hacing had one early on at the early perg. unit. Which is fine, I guess. Had my booking in today, and she was very nice, I was a bit worried given some of your stories...

The best news is that i can have runny yolks... (the things that make my day... :)) she said that if I wash the egg before breaking it, and cook the whites thoroughly, then it should be fine (and they are fresh eggs), she was very understanding, one of the few things I fancy and not being able to eat it!! I'm still very much with nausea, and feel very jealous at all of you getting past it... it seems impossible that it'll ever happen to me...

Glad to hear about everyone's scans! I'm excited about the 20 week one now, just think how much bigger our beans will be :)

And Tarlia, I'm not showing at all really, unless I've just had a big meal. But the doctors have said I shouldn't worry about it and I'll start putting on weight soon. How tall are you? It could be an old wives' tale, but apparently the taller you are the later you show (because there's more space for the baby to stretch out??) Not sure about that particular theory...

I wish I wasn't showing at all, tbh. I can't imagine how much bigger I'm going to get! Hope everyone has a fab weekend. My inlaws will be here so I will check back on Tuesday!

Hi everyone. Just popping in to say we are off on our hols for two weeks tomorrow.Booked it last night were very limited for dates as poor dh has to be back at work on 22 so i will literally be dropping him off from the airport(the police are so ridiculous with leave grrr)Anyway we are dead excited and i persuaded dh for us to push the boat out for a 5 star as it will be our last holiday with out a baby for few years dd is 8 and goes to the kids club or makes friends.
Things seem to be going well for everyone with scans so maybe we will all worry less now (says me who is already worried about mc on plane or abroad and dvt on plane)
Will have lots of catching up to do when i am back and we will al be 2 weeks further on. Take care all.xxxxxx
