Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wigglesrock · 04/08/2010 09:23

I feel huge as well, although this is my third in five years so stomach muscles are well and truly kaput (well not sure they were in the best shape to begin with!!) Congrats jackinthebump, my dh has a sneaky feeling its twins this time for us, scan at 14 weeks next week so we'll see.

linz17xxx · 04/08/2010 09:23

Scan this morning. I'm nervous but excited at the same time. I'm taking my dp and dd with me and dd is so excited. I'll let you all know how I get on x

sweetnitanitro · 04/08/2010 09:38

Good luck linz

Kez84 · 04/08/2010 09:58

Hi Congratulations to all of you on your scans! its so exciting. I had my dating/nuchal scan yesterday and all looked good. The baby was wriggling around and had hiccups at one point. They moved my due date up one day so i'm now due on the 13th Feb. Good luck to everyone today

ledkr · 04/08/2010 10:18

linz did you ask if you could take dd? My hospital has miserably banned kids which is so unfair as mine is 8 and would be a lovely experience for her. I do understand about not taking babies in etc.but when i had dd my 3 ds then 18 16 and 12 came and they were there for the birth and it was so nice to involve them.
Luckily i have a dvd of my private scan for dd but just wondered how other authorities manage this.
Good luck by the way linz.

sweetnitanitro · 04/08/2010 10:33

ledkr I'm not allowed to take DD in either. She is at the age where she would be a massive distraction though .

Kez, that's brilliant news! Do they tell you the result of the nuchal thingy straight away?

wigglesrock · 04/08/2010 10:50

I wasn't going to tell my 2dd (2&5) for a good few months, well hoping to keep it from them till maybe Halloween, they are already asking about Christmas!!! bloody Argos ads.

ledkr saw you on Gisele thread, no doubt she never had any sickness and her libido never wavered, seriously if she was chocolate she'd eat herself

JustOneMorePlease · 04/08/2010 10:58

Good morning everyone! Glad to read about exciting scans...twins wow.!

Well i has my CVS on monday and all went well. She was a bit rougher than the others I've had, but she was training and with hindsight was a bit anxious (not ideal)!!!

Felt bruised since then, but the good news is they rang at 5.15 last night (nothing like making us sweat) to tell us genetically everything is normal.... hooray!

Surprised myself by my mixed emotions. Obviously we are delighted, but i feel as though I'm betraying Ds1 by being pleased it isn't like him . He is my little super star best bud, so am a bit teary still. Just takes me back to the difficult time we went through when he was born. Don't think the hormones help and have been quite stressed about the whole thing.

Showed the boys the scan picture and they were both soooooo excited.

Still feeling sicky but not 12 weeks till tomorrow so hopefully the end is nigh!

Got my date through for 20 week scan, strange as we haven't told many people yet. I guess we should start just can't face all the "your going to have you hands full with 4" comments and such like. Shall have to just smile and nod!!

Take care everyone and good luck for up and coming scans.

xx

Kez84 · 04/08/2010 11:06

sweetnitanitro We don't know the results yet, she just told us the fluid looked fine. They took blood and said if there is a problem we would hear within 5 days and if all is fine we will get a letter in 2 weeks.

sweetnitanitro · 04/08/2010 11:11

Kez I'm sure it will all be fine, just curious because I've got mine tomorrow

JustOneMore, so glad the CVS is all clear, I don't think you are being disloyal to your DS1.

ledkr · 04/08/2010 11:43

just one more was with my sil last night and she has a ds dd who she dotes on but she did say she would get tested if she had another baby. She also said that she wouldnt mind tho if she did as she finds dd a joy as you do your ds.So dont feel guilty we all want the best for our children and unfortunately any form of disability is something we all do not want for our loved ones.
Mind you between you and my d sil it has made me re think what i would do as i had the nt tests and had 1 in 600 so did not have cvs but at 43 could still be the "1"

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/08/2010 11:50

Had booking in today and found I have my official EDD wrong should be 26 Feb apparently (will update stats later). And I'm now apparently higher risk for four separate reasons so look likely to be under consultant-led care (have appointment booked for 14-ish weeks the week after my NT scan) unless consultant sees sense and releases me to mostly mw appointments this is annoying because I have to go further and attempt to park in hideously over-crowded (and over-priced if you do find a space) carpark to get to the doctors' antenatal clinic.

Oh, and apparently because I had GD last time I get treated as automatically having it this time without even getting tested (annoying as I only barely failed the test last time and I could well be in with a chance of passing this time) so I'm likely to have to have appointments for that as well. Bah, hiss and boo.

Still, am in system and have had lots of blood taken. And mw made me get on the scales because when I told her my weight she flat out couldn't believe I weighed anywhere near that much . I did, though . She said I must have big bones, so now I have been told that by an actual medical professional , hah!

knittakid · 04/08/2010 12:05

So it is real prof! that's so funny.

justonemore, as ledkr says, we just want the best for them, so don't feel guilty, but I understand it must be very emotional!

Birth-wise, I just want to be prepared for it. Need to learn to trust my body, but it is difficult because on my direct maternal line nobody in the past two generations has given birth naturally... so wonder if we are actually meant to be here, or should have been eliminated from the gene pool some time ago...

I'm 11 weeks now!

Oh, sorry, forgot to add that would like a book that talks about the UK system.

sweetnitanitro · 04/08/2010 12:31

knittakid, have you been given the NHS pregnancy book? There's some good basic info in there.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/08/2010 12:35

I'd suggest that too.

Mumsnet on Pregnancy will be pretty UK-specific. And I would expect that Miriam Stoppard would be too, although haven't looked at her book for a while.

linz17xxx · 04/08/2010 13:45

Hello been for scan this morning and all is great. I'm due on 9th feb and everything looks great took dd who is 5 and the sonographer was brilliant pointing everything out to her. She even said the baby was waving at her and gave us 3 photos x

angels1 · 04/08/2010 13:57

hello all,

just had my booking in - I now feel like I'm in the system . Not too sure about the mw, but I'll see someone else next time anyway. She was a bit judgemental against epidurals (I just don't get why people, especially health professionals are) and was very much 'if it's not an answer to a question on the form I'm not interested'. I thought she was also quite insensitive in how she dealt with my previous mc, but maybe that's just my hormones...

She came to take the bloods (and I am a notoriously tricky veiny lady) and struggled. It was the most painful blood I've ever had taken and I nearly fainted afterwards (had to lie down promptly as I knew I would faint if not!).

On the good side, I've just found out one of my good friends has had her baby - so excited for her

sweetnitanitro · 04/08/2010 14:20

linz, that's great news!

angels, I don't get why some people are judgey either, there are no medals for giving birth with no pain relief! That's a bummer about your blood test, hopefully you won't need many more. I can't remember what I had last time but I think it's changed now anyway.

JustOneMorePlease · 04/08/2010 16:04

Thank you so much for your kind words sweetnitanitro, ledkr and knittakid.

Feel loads better now, had lunch out with two good friends and all the dc's. Its amazing how chaos makes you forget to worry!!
Two spilled drinks and couple of toilet trips with 3+ kids is enough to bring you back to reality. The irony of it is that Ds1 was the best behaved of them all and had the best time!!!!!

I decided to have the CVS's with Ds1 and Dd1 and obviously this one coz i needed to know for definate. My odds with Ds1 was 1:2500 as i was only 26. But like you said someone is going to be that 1 eventually. Thats life.

Anyway enough already, i don't want to set off any more anxiety amongst our special group!! Positive thoughts allowed only.

Take care.

xx

Chloe55 · 04/08/2010 16:11

More good scan news

Just got back from doc because have a headache over my right eye for 2 days and it is blood shot on top. He has suggested prob not an infection as not gunky enough but could be shingles as it is localised around a nerve I hope not! Not sure what the pg complications may be but I presume they are not good so fingers crossed it is some other viral nasty that will leave my body in say the next 5 minutes coz it bloody kills!

tadjennyp · 04/08/2010 16:35

Hope you are feeling well soon chloe. Glad to hear all the scan news. Because I had an early scan I won't get another one till 18 weeks which is next month. I don't want to wait that long!

We told our dcs 4 and 2 about the new baby last night. Ds didn't really get it but dd was very excited as it's due the day after her 5th birthday. She kept going to her dolls' cribs and pulling out things she thought the baby could play with. It was so sweet! I'm hoping it will stop them leaping on my tummy now!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/08/2010 16:43

Did doc suggest putting you on antivirals? Would call back and ask if not.

ledkr · 04/08/2010 18:22

Just one more. my Sil was 29 when had dd who has downs. That's why I take little notice of the age thing as its only a 30 per cent indicator. Sounds like you had a nice day.
I worked till 1 then took dd to see toy story walked to cinema and back about 25 mins each way. I now feel wiped out and achey! Feel so feeble!
Poor chloe shingles is very painful. Agree with prof re anti virals.
I got to have another of my twice weekly blood tests tomorrow cos of my rhesus antI bodies. Good job I don't mind needles.
