Yo December 2010 ladies, here we go - the mid-point of our pregnancies...and beyond!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

93pjb - sorry to hear about the heart issue, hope all will be ok. Try to focus on fact you are still low risk overall and it is only one marker xxx

Strix · 04/08/2010 10:58

Regarding amnio, one thing you may want to consider is having one at 35 weeks. The FMC mentioned this to me if I really wanted results before the baby was born. It won't cause a miscarriage at this stage, but you might get a (slightly) premature baby which isn't a huge risk at 35 weeks. But, you would know for sure befor the big day which would at least let have a nicer birth day. Either you know and preparre yourself, or you know the baby is fine and can enjoy his/her first day in the outside worl knowing he/she is fine. What I don't know is if the NHS would offer you this option.

Do try to keep in mind that soft markers are not a diagnosis. I know I know, that is rich coming from someone who went into a complete meltdown over the nuchal measurement when the overall number was still quite good.

PJen · 04/08/2010 14:56

93pjb Sweetheart don't worry about it. I read your post and the situation is not that grim at all. I know being a mom means being worried constantly but still the odds are on your side to have a healthy baby. I know how horrible it is to be worried and really wish you all the best. Send you hugs and kisses...

I have put on 10 lbs!! Really worried about it!!! I don't seem to have put on much fat but I am definitely fatter than I was in overall...

C&G please do start eating more properly... losing weight because of stress when being pregnant is not really recommended. I just read the new NICE guidelines and it really recommends you to not lose weight in addition to not put on more than recommended. I am okay with 10 lbs as according to online weight calculator I am still in the lower limit of what I should be after 22 weeks... Besides, this baby is ruling my body... I don't have control over anything anymore...

DuelingFanjo · 04/08/2010 17:07

I finally managed to 'go' after 3 days of horrible constipation. Hurrah.

My workmate keeps telling everyone who comes in to the office that I am pregnant! Gaaaah.

However, I have managed to do in 2 days what I thought might take me 2 weeks and can now move onto the next part of the 'getting my work in order before maternity leave' plan.
I have a terrible fear that whoever takes over will think I am really bad at my job and try to change the way things are done!

Hope all are ok and 93pjb am thinking of you. Hope you aare still getting support you need.

CheeseandGherkins · 04/08/2010 17:21

93pjb Sorry you're feeling so bad, 1:500 is really good still though so try not to worry too much.

pjen I am trying to, and have put weight on in the past couple of weeks I think but I think withe the stress and running about after 3 kids all day, a dog and 2 cats it keeps me pretty busy hehe. I'm not trying not to eat if you see what I mean. I do eat when I'm hungry, I'm just not always hungry. Will see how it goes.

Had another midwife appt today but don't know why I bother, anything I say is just dismissed as being "normal" in pregnancy anyway, I could say my head was hanging off and it would be the same response. Feels really disheartening and, frankly, a waste of my time. If I have any concerns I call the hospital anyway so I really feel like not bothering to go anymore.

notso · 04/08/2010 17:29

93pjb poor you having to go through extra worry,

DF Hooray for going and for having a plan!

Sympathy to those worrying about visitors, I am glad my parents and PIL live close by so won't stay over.
However going on past experience they all just drop in as and when usually unannounced as they are 'just popping'. I just take myself and Baby off to bed when I've had enough, no-one is allowed into the bedroom without me inviting them, it seems to work!

I am worried about being in labour on Christmas day though and missing my DC and I'm not sure what to do with them, I suggested to DH he stay with them and I have the baby in hospital on my own but he wasn't keen. Anyone else have similar concerns?

I had my scan today, it was lovely, really friendly sonographer. Baby was very cooperative, we saw waves and wiggles and also eye lenses which was a bit odd! After a last minute wobble we didn't find out the sex and I am not regretting it, also legs were crossed so we may have been disappointed if she'd tried to look anyway.
Babys head and femur legnth are measuring bigger than dates but differently so, either this one could come early or has DH's long legs and my big head!

There is apparently a 20% off discount code for mothercare on my voucher codes I think if anyones interested.

CheeseandGherkins · 04/08/2010 17:59

Anyone else have really sore boobs still? I bought some new ones at the weekend, got measured in Bravissimo and am a 34 F which I'm really surprised at. I must look stupid with boobs like this being 5ft 3 and fairly small....I'm guessing that's why they probably hurt though.

notso · 04/08/2010 18:12

No sore boobs C&G but damn are mine itchy!

mumatron · 04/08/2010 19:52

just a quickie, sorry to hear your stresses 93pjb don'y have any advise but i have a hand to hold if you need it.

scan tommorrow am a bag of nerves! still can't belive that theres a baby in there even if it feels like it's trying to kick its way out!

DuelingFanjo · 04/08/2010 20:00

no sore boobs here

good luck mumtron m sure it will be fine

Just saw the icandy system I was bidding on in eby go way over what I was prepared to pay dammit. Now setting my sites on a Quinny Buzz.

Wholelottalove · 04/08/2010 20:05

Well I weighed myself this morning and was 4 lbs lighter than yesterday evening, hooray! So that makes a 10lb weight gain which seems more reasonable to me, especially as it is my first.

Good luck for your scan mumatron
and congrats to you notso for your scan. Now I've had a chance to reflect, I'm also glad we didn't find out as it is really exciting not knowing. Everyone at work was pouring over my scan pics today trying to work out whether they could see boy's bits.

I'm a bit worried about being in labour over Christmas too, although DD is only 2 so I don't think she'll understand what she's missing IYSWIM? I think my worst case scenario is having baby say 2 days before Xmas then DH's entire extended family expecting to come over and see us during their traditional Boxing Day gathering - can't see me wanting to go if only a day or two after giving birth. Will just have to say no if that happens.

C&G - my nipples are still a bit sore and also getting a bit of itchy boobs/bump.

CheeseandGherkins · 04/08/2010 20:16

Good luck mumatron hope it goes well, mine's on Friday.

DF the icandy's are lovely but so expensive! I like the look of the britax bsmart pram

Wholelotta I think you're supposed to weigh once a week at the same time of day and same day to get an accurate result as you can go up or down a few pounds over the course of a day naturally. I'm hoping she arrives just before Christmas, I'd love a lovely little newborn on Christmas day, plus it would get vistors out the way as we're having everyone here no matter what; well barring emergencies of course!

Glad your scan went well notso. I'm so glad we found out, I was desperate to know the sex so that I could call baby he/she. I hate saying it and I also want to choose a name.

MrsSnaplegs · 04/08/2010 20:55

Hi all sorry been absent for a bit - busy weekend - friends wedding then mummy and daughter day out on sunday - took DD to see toy story 3 - got to the scary bits (well for a 4 yr old) and she is sat on my lap saying "I want Daddy" - downside of having a SAHD and not being a SAHM I suppose - proves we have clearly completely reversed roles in her eyes! Got home to find my DH had "won" me an adult tricycle on Ebay - my new wonder plan for getting to and from work as can no longer drive or ride a normal bike with my ME. Went all the way to Oxford to collect it and realised it was a bit more ropey than the pictures showed so he has had lots of work this week trying to restore it think I owe him for that!
finally have got an OT assessment for a house next week so you never know we may be in a house by Xmas
Is anyone else absolutely exhausted at the moment? not sure if it is the weather but something is leaving me wiped!
No weight gain here yet - still half a stone lighter than pre pg weight - may have something to do with the 20 miles a week I am having to walk to work and back and the 50 odd stairs between my attic office and the loo

93pjb Sorry to hear about the worry from the scan - I don't know enough to advise but am thinking of you and hope you get the advice and support you need (insert unmumsnet hug)

C&G I think your post meant you got new bras not new boobs -you may have sore boobs still because you have been wearing the wrong size bras - if they have not had enough support or are too "constrained" it may cause them to ache more. Also most midwives have seen it all before so many times they don't realise how scary some of the things we go through in pg can be especially if it is your first time, if you are really concerned about something go and see your Dr.

DF Glad you are sorting work prior to mat leave - why not write some basic "standard operating procedures" for the regular things you do so people don't try and change them too much?

Not sure what we are doing for Xmas (suppose it depends if we have moved or not!) My Mum is going o/seas to see my older brother which is a big relief as we don't have a great relationship. I think ILs may pop down for a day after Xmas but hopefully it should be just DH,DD me and new DS! Not sure who we will get to look after DD when I have LO unless I opt for home birth as we won't have family down here. Will allow visitors at home but not going to have anyone staying at house - did that last time and hated it personally.

Anyway enough burbling from me - hope you are all ok

Strix · 04/08/2010 22:32

Yes, I was wondering how C&G got new boobs as well.

I have today and the next two off work to play SAHM. I am bloody exhausted. How do people do it? And, DD is in a dance camp all week. I took DS to see The Gruffalo at Richmond theatre today. It was nice. But, all the running around did my back no good. Ouch!

DF, you are far more organised than I am. Don't work yourself out of a job before you go. You want them to miss you and not along fine without you.

Well,I am off to get some beauty rest so I can get up and play SAHM again. zzzzzzzzz...

notso · 05/08/2010 08:28

Morning all, and thanks for scan congrats

Good luck for today Mumatron

DF Unlucky on not getting the Icandy, I missed out on a Bugaboo Cam by a tenner but I'd reached my limit.
I would not recommend the Quinny Buzz, I have used BIL's when my Nephew comes and it's awful to push and feels quite rickety it's nearly toppled over several times when I've tried to push it up/down the kerb, I have seen ones with 4 wheels though which may be more stable.

Wholelotta glad I'm not the only one concerned though you are right about not really getting it at 2. Mine are 10 and nearly 6 so they know whats going on!

C&G This is the first time we have had the chance to find out and I admit I was a little bit tempted, but when it came to the crunch I'd rather DH told me like he did with the other two.
Have you picked a name yet?

MrsS Hope the OT assessment speeds thing up for you, and that you find someone to look after your DD for the birth, I think you might need someone even if it's a homebirth.

Strix Was it the Gruffalo with just three or four actors? If so I saw that a about two years back and loved it, DD and I still sing the song! I don't think it's dawned on me yet that I'm going to be a SAHM again, I keep thinking I'm going back to work in Sept!

A have a strong urge to eat the left overs of last nights over-ordered curry which I sluttishly left out in the kitchen all night even though my brain is telling me it would not be a good plan!
Have to find shoes for BILs wedding next weekend as well and am struggling, also having second thoughts about my hot pink dress as I have almost doubled in size since I bought it

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 08:33

yes! good luck mumatron

notso thanks for the heads up on the Quinny. Does anyone know - is the maxi cosi car seat prettu universal, can I fix it to many different buggy frames? We're also in the not finding out camp, I can't wait for the day when my DH can tell me.

woke up feeling hungry, perhaps this is the mad hunger starting!

notso · 05/08/2010 09:29

DF off the top of my head the maxi cosi cabrio can fit on Maxicosi pushchairs, Quinny, Mothercare Mychoice and Bugaboo Cam/Gecko/Frog not sure about Bee, it seems to be the most universal.

notso · 05/08/2010 09:30

That 20% off code for Mothercare ends on 12/08/10, is on MyVoucherCodes and works!

PJen · 05/08/2010 09:48

Confused... is the code "myvouchercodes" or is it on a book called with this name?

I want to get the bee and 20% off means 100 pounds saving!! So really appreciate if someone can explain the situation with Mothercare code...

CherylAnnTweedy · 05/08/2010 10:02

Hi everyone, just checking in. Been very busy with days out etc. Summer holidays are getting better, but of course at their dads this weekend, so will instantly take a massive tumble on Sunday and will be hell for a few days .

News here, pregnancy hormones are rubbish! I cried at Toy Story 3! Thank god for 3d glasses hiding it! (I was outnumbered 3-1 for the vote for watching it in 3d).

Boobs are filling up during the day, but not leaking at all yet.

I'm getting weird stingy, pins & needles type feelings in my lower back from time to time. Baby seems to really like sitting and kicking nerves!

Speaking of Outnumbered, anyone watch it? Well ds2 is Ben! Anyone who's on baby no1. Get the dvds now and when your LO/LOs are a bit older, watch it, it's great!

I've tried keeping up with news, but not got time to reply, sorry, 93pjb, hope you're feeling ok about it, Strix's suggestion was a great one I think, would you be able to request a late amnio?

Enjoy the rest of your week, and weekend.

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 10:46

At what point should I expect to start feeling my boobs filling?

PJen - I have the code in my home email somewhere, I'll try to post it later unless someone else can get it before then

CherylAnnTweedy · 05/08/2010 10:56

I don't remember them filling up this early with my other two pregnancies, DF

Chooster · 05/08/2010 11:14

Yes we watch outnumbered in our house CherylAnn! - I think its one of the funniest things on TV. My Ds1 is definately a 'Jake' ... And Ds2 seems to be a boy version of Karen .

Good luck today mumatron! Hope it all works out...

Interesting about requesting a late amnio. Definately a good idea for preparing yourself if still worried, although 93 - your odds are still pretty good.

I cried at Toy Story too! . Had to hide it a bit from 6 yr old DS... We opted for 2D - much less fiddly .

Went and got new bras yesterday (well bra - they only had one in my size!). Up to an E cup now but was bigger with my earlier pregnancies - perhaps I wont get quite so big this time? Mind you I need to account for the 14 pounds I've put on somehow!!! Half bacon sandwich I think

Right better go and do some work - at home today and need to get on... Do you ever have spells when you make silly mistakes about small things but your boss seems to see all of them? I've having one of those spells. I replied to a company survey and put myself in the wrong department - my out of office on my e-mail hadn't been set up right, I sent boss an e-mail with the wrong file attached.... The list goes on! Normally I'm pretty reliable but at the moment he's probably counting down the time til I disappear on mat leave

CheeseandGherkins · 05/08/2010 12:32

MrsS The bike sounds wonderful, hope it doesn't take long to sort out . Lol yes I meant new bras not new boobs! That makes sense, they do feel a lot more supported now with the new bras. I've started leaking milk now though :s

Strix Lol definitely just new bras

notso We haven't picked a name yet, had a boys name we both loved but nothing for a girl! So far we're thinking about Niamh and Scarlett, not 100% though, I think this will take a while. I really fancy indian for dinner now after reading about yours. Hope you find some shoes soon. I'm sure you'll look lovely in your dress too.

Cheryl Mine used to do that after see their "Father", I use that term loosely...but no contact for a while now (court hearing next Friday) and I can see the difference. The problems have come out in the way he abused them but they're so much happier and less nervy. It's remarkable. sorry yours feel that way

DF I don't remember a filling feeling, not before I had mine at least, but definitely leaking! Ds1 gave me a cuddle earlier and my top was wet on one side afterwards.

Chooster Not going to watch 3d here either, my eyes wouldn't cope I don't think. M&S have some lovely bras, if you've already been measured then just pick some and try them on. I bought some extra ones in there, cheaper than bravissimo!

I'm sneezing so much today, wonder if the pollen count is high. Need to get out and walk the dog soon and take the kids for a bike ride. Hopefully the rain will hold off.

PJen · 05/08/2010 14:02

CherylAnnTweedy I cried on Toy Story 3 behind the 3D glasses as well... At the end when Andy was saying good bye. My whole face was wet and couldn't hold my snifs back.... So embaressing!!

DF thanks... I will wait here till someone gets me the code. I didn't receive the email although I am signed up with mothercare...

I have to wee every 3-10 minutes. Gosh will it get even worse?

Who else hates receiving advices from random people at work? Anyone seeing my bump has an advice in their sleeves. I am afraid of approaching the tea station as everytime I get asked with raising eyebrows "do you still drink caffeine?" I feel guilty for having a cuppa every other day!!!
