Yo December 2010 ladies, here we go - the mid-point of our pregnancies...and beyond!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 14:36

I had my first 'is it twins?' today

thankfully from someone I like and only said in jest.

Pitterpatter2 · 05/08/2010 14:42

In theory I'm due about Christmas Day. Of course this is all new to me because I was told that I could never have children and we didn't use any contraception for 8 years. Then my life changed!

I'm feeling the baby move quite a lot now. Yesterday when I was in Court (I'm a solicitor) the baby gave the biggest wriggle yet: right in the middle of my closing statement!

DH loves to stroke my tummy and to feel the baby move. Strange but I never had him down as a softie! My breasts are also growing which seems to amuse us both.

MrsSnaplegs · 05/08/2010 15:34

www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/ link to the whole website - click on mothercare link and directions to the code are there. Worthsigning up for the email form this site as they are quite good!

MrsSnaplegs · 05/08/2010 15:43

pitterpatter2 Welcome congratulations on your long awaited news! Hope you are enjoying every minute!

C&G Good luck for next Friday in case I forget by then, i may well forget, I would forget my head if it wasn't screwed on

DF got the code so don't worry - link posted for anyone else interested in the site! I used to be a real MSE babe but have fallen off the wagon recently - really need to go over and see Martin again I think

notso i am starting to think if everything goes ok with the consultant at the end of the month and he is ok for me to try a home birth then if I had a doula with DH there as well we might be ok - probably will wimp out and end up going into the MLU, think one of my staff will help out with babysitting DD until family arrive (they will be staying in a B&B/hotel)

Actually had a productive day at work - still not really doing as much as I could but better then the other week Had my H&S Risk Assessment part done today then the lady doing it has just gone on leave for 3 weeks do you think they are not really taking it seriously?!

Hope everyone is ok !

MrsChris · 05/08/2010 15:57

Hello - I'm new to MN.

Due on 31st December. Found out last week we are having a girl and have had an overwhelming urge to go out and buy tiny pink things.

Really enjoying the thread so far and will be asking lots of questions as this is my first. Didn't realise being pregnant would be quite so all-consuming - and can't believe I have another 21 weeks before the baby arrives. Feel like I've been pregnant forever.

MrsSnaplegs · 05/08/2010 16:04

Hello MrsChris welcome

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 16:09

Hey there MrsChris and PitterPatter

MrsChris · 05/08/2010 16:22

Hi MrsSnaplegs and DuelingFanjo

I have to ask - is it normal for a pregnant woman to constantly have something wrong with her? My dh is despairing that after only 19 weeks I have already had nearly 4 months of nausea (thankfully now gone), headaches, a bad back, repetitive strain injury in my wrist and, to top it off, last night a sharp stabbing pain in my fanny.

I'm doing my own head in!

Seriously though - it's thrilling to be pregnant after months of trying and it all feels real now thanks to the scan and finding out that the baby is a "she" rather than an "it". Haven't felt her move yet, but the sonographer said I had a high anterior placenta. I did read some previous posts about this. What's the normal time to start feeling kicks and does the placenta usually move around? Anyone know?

Thanks...

PJen · 05/08/2010 16:24

MrsChris welcome... I am first timer too and there are tons of first timers here and I have learnt sooo much from MN. You will enjoy it I am sure.

MrsSnaplegs thanks for the voucher... It expires on 12th so it is putting pressure on me to make final decision on the pushchair. This weekend I will go for another

who asked about the breasts being still sore and growing? Mine are growing steadily and super sore...

DF was that other lady commenting your DH or not? I am still wondering...

QueenofDreams · 05/08/2010 16:29

Hi everyone, been absent for a bit, sorry. Money woes have been getting me down, so been very distracted.

Re CHristmas: I was supposed to be going to Scotland to spend CHristmas with my family, but that is obviously not going to happen. DP's family will be spending Christmas in London - I don't think we'll be able to join them either, realistically. So it looks like we'll be having a quiet Christmas at home just the three (or possibly four) of us. A local friend has said she'll babysit DS for us if I need to go into hospital.

Forgot what else I was going to reply to

Welcome to pitter and chris, and congratulations to you both! chris I didn't feel any movements till past 20 weeks with DS, but this time I started feeling them about 17 weeks. Anterior placenta will cushion the blows so you don't feel them as much. I know the placenta CAN move - a lot of people have a low-lying placenta early in pregnancy but it moves up as the uterus stretches. I'm not an expert though!

emmaxmas · 05/08/2010 16:33

Welcome Mrs Chris and pitterpatter2- lovely to have you on here.

Mrs Snaplegs- yes I too am still completely exhausted- wiped out all the time. Most afternoons I have to have a nap (luckily I am self employed so can do this). Just cannot get enough sleep.

Bump is definitely starting to show now- not that big despite the fact I've put on 5kgs- eek- am worried this is too much. I've been eating healthily but very little exercise as just don't have the energy.

Have also been having a really bad lower back ache which appears whenever I sit in a chair. Have been using a lumbar roll which is helping though.

So many of you are sooooooooo organised with all your prams etc... DH and I still have to look at them all- we're going to wait until after our hols in Sept and then get onto it.

Have been nesting BIG time. Work has been a lot quieter for me this week which has been great so have spent loads of time sorting out all the cupboards- all very productive but it's becoming a bit obsessive!

Enjoy your meet up this weekend PJen, Strix and Lavitabella- I would've loved to have joined you but we're away this weekend. Maybe I'll be able to join you another time.

Bye for now

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 16:36

MrsChris sorry to say this but it's not been normal for me. I had very little sickness, though I think most people do. It's only now at 22 weeks that I am starting to get symptoms like bad constipation, headaches and sleep issues so unfortunately I think it gets worse rather than better

I started feeling flutters around 19/20 weeks but I dona't have an anterior placenta and it's my first and apparently you do feel them a lot later if it's your first. I am only really starting to get proper movements now.

PJen I don't think it was DH though I didn't ask him. I think I would know if it was because he's rubbish at hiding stuff.

Hello QueenofDreams, sorry to hear of the worries and hope you're ok.

chloesbaby · 05/08/2010 17:06

hello all,

It's been a while since i posted but i have been trying to keep up with you all.
Hello to the newbies and pleased to see you're posting again C&G and sorry you're going through such a horrible time.

I've got my 20wk scan tomorrow. We are planning on finding out the sex but I have an overwhelming instinct it will be a boy. I will tell you tomorrow if I'm right or not! I had a nightmare last night I was kept waiting over 12 hours in the waiting room while women were labouring all around me in agony. Then the sonographer finally saw me and the examination table was covered in blood. Urgh. Just nerves I'm sure.

Not sure what we're doing for Xmas. Baby due on 23. I don't like the sounds of having your MIL around for 3 weeks DF
Our relatives live a long way from both of us and they have all been quite sensitive, saying they will wait to hear what we want to do. My mum also has the responsibility of looking after her elderly parents so she wouldn't just be able to drop everything and run, especially if it is Xmas day (my due date is 23 Dec). If the baby comes after Xmas I imagine DH and I will have a special last Xmas alone meal with no visitors, and try and be patient. Afterwards I think I'll be pleased to show the baby off to anyone who comes, but we'll be clear they will have to bring food and look after us!

Lavitabellissima · 05/08/2010 17:10

Hi MrsChris & Pitterpatter2

I am exhausted, and will happily have an extra nap at any time throughout the day. I also have had constant symptoms, nausea and vomiting until 17 weeks, headaches, constipation, pissing like a racehorse, and now joy of joys acid reflux although I've now got gaviscon on presciption from the Dr!

Emmaxmas hopefully you can join us next time

CherylAnnTweedy · 05/08/2010 17:14

"...you probably feel comfortably pregnant. Your growing tummy is not yet large enough to get in the way and you should still be able to bend over and sit without much trouble." HA HA HA!!! What a joke! That's from www.i-am-pregnant.com/here for 22 weeks.

C&G - Scarlett is a lovely name. I've said before how brave & strong you obvioulsy are and your dc are lucky to have you. Good luck for Friday. So glad that they are happier now and more relaxed, lets hope the court can understand that. DP has been more of a dad to my boys in the last year than their 'dad' has been in the last 9.5 (i.e. since I fell pg with ds1). I'd love for him to be able to adopt them and xp to have nothingn more to do with them. I'm not entirely convinced things are all hunkydory at his but ds2 is too young to explain things properly and ds1 is very defensive and cagey when he gets back.

Glad I'm not the only one crying at Toy Story, PJen it ws the bit where the toys were getting back in the box that set me off!

Welcome Pitterpatter & MrsChris. Congratulations to you both.

MrsChris - This is no3 for me, and after 2 really easy pregnancies I'm finding that this time there seems to be constant niggles...sickness at the start, toilet blocking poos , contractions, twinges galore, fainting, oh the list goes on!

QoD - sorry to hear about your worries, I know that feeling only too well.

mumatron · 05/08/2010 17:17

haven't read todays posts but will try when i get back from food shopping.

scan went fab and its a girl!! i'm really shocked tbh. was 95% certain was a boy.

will check back asap.

Lavitabellissima · 05/08/2010 17:25

Congrats Mumatron lovely news for you

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 17:33

congratulations mumatron

notso · 05/08/2010 17:53

BUM and GRRR just lost my post!

Congrats mumatron

Sorry for not posting the whole address and code PJen, I have a bad habit of assuming people know what I am talking about

C&G Scarlett is on our list, it is what DS would've been. I also like Niamh but know too many to choose it.

Chooster and Cheryl glad I am not the only one to cry at Toy Story 3!

Hello and congratulations Pitterpatter2 and MrsChris

MrsS thanks for posting the code, glad you have a plan for the delivery. I must say 'one of my staff' sounds very grand, I am imagining a Butler or Maid "more hot water and towels m'Lady!"

QoD sorry about the money worries hope you are not too down.

emmaxmas Also knackered, but not getting much chance to nap thanks to DC, roll on September when I shall be napping 9-3!

DF yes it does tend to get worse, especially the sleep probs IME.

chloesbaby Good luck for tomorrow, I'll be interested to see if you are right. I am also due on 23rd.

Lavita hope the gaviscon works, heartburn is awful.

Cheryl LOL I am having trouble bending now at 20 weeks and if I do the baby wriggles like mad so I worry I'm squishing it.

Saw my friend today who's due in 4 weeks she is not much bigger than me! She was telling me how she has been washing all the baby stuff and getting everything ready I am feeling very excited now!

notso · 05/08/2010 18:08

Oh and PJEN if you don't mind what Bee the voucher apparently works on the TreasuRED Bee which already has money off.

CheeseandGherkins · 05/08/2010 19:46

hello MrsChris and Pitterpatter.

MrsS Thanks. Forgot to say before about midwives, no this is my 4th baby but I've had so much go wrong before that I know what to look for and I hate being dismissed like it's nothing hence why I call the hospital instead and really can't be bothered with the midwives at the gps. Had 6 miscarriages, bleeding in pregnancy, 1 prem baby, prem labour, prem waters breaking with 2 (one at 22 weeks) etc etc, lots more too so I'm well read on things that can go wrong and know the signs usually. I read a lot about everything so I feel better about things.

MrsChris I have aches and pains, headaches but I never really felt sick, probably twice and that was it. Definitely getting worse as it goes on though!

Pjen I asked about boobs, not sure if anyone else did too though. These new bras are helping loads but I notice it a lot when I take them off, I feel so heavy and they start to feel sore right away.

Emma Back ache is horrible, would a hot water bottle help?

Chloe good lukck tomorrow, I have mine too! I'm also due on 23rd.

Cheryl Thank you. I know exactly what you mean, it's such a shame it has to be like this

notso I don't know any Scarletts or Niamhs, still not quite sure on names.

I'm feeling really achy and crampy after walking or excercise, feels like mild contractions which don't stop until I've rested for a few hours at least. It's very odd and a little disconcerting.

maxpower · 05/08/2010 20:08

my goodness it's been busy on here! hello to everyone, welcome to the newbies. Congrats on good scan news and 93 just remember your odds are still good.

as I don't own any scales, I couldn't tell you what weight I've put on, but I know it's different to last time (and not in a good way )

had quite a productive week at work although I'm dealing with some tricky performance management issues with one of my staff which isn't all fun

C&G good luck for the hearing and btw I really like Niamh

I'm really hoping this baby arrives on time or a couple of days early as my DD is due to start big school on 6 Jan and I'd like to be able to enjoy her important day. However, I don't want baby to arrive on Christmas day as my FIL (who I don't relaly like) has his birthday that day. DD had her birthday 'stolen' by her twin cousins last year so I'd like at least one of mine to ahve their own borthday iyswim!

CherylAnnTweedy · 05/08/2010 20:20

Maxpower - I've got a lot of dates in Dec to miss. Baby due 8th, my brothers birthday is 9th, he died when he was 2, so I really want to avoid that date for my mum and dad. Then 14th is DPs niece, 16th is my dads, and 17th is mine! I've not timed this very well have I!

Wholelottalove · 05/08/2010 20:27

Wow, this thread keep going crazy! Welcome to newbies and congrats to more scans

Not sure who was asking about whether it is normal to have something wrong at all times in pg, but yup that is me! I reckon some people are lucky and some people manage to get everything going. Mind you, nothing much up with me other than touch of heartburn at moment, so maybe I'm going to start blooming soon. Won't hold my breath.

I have really crappy skin at the moment, really spotty and horrible. Other than that, and being a bit knackered and a bit miffed at DH at the moment (how hard can it be to get sheets out of the washing machine when you're home all day and 2yo has a 1 1/2 hour nap, seriously?!) all ok.

jobobpip08 · 05/08/2010 20:50

OMG this is such a busy thread -I've been away for a week and there is about 8 pages to catch up!

Welcome all newbies, glad to hear of scans going well and its a boy here just to even up the teams!

C&G what an absolute nightmare for you and your DC, its the most you can hope to do, to protect your kids, what an awful father. Sending positive vibes your way for the court case.

93 hard not to worry but the odds are really good in your favour - 499 chances of everything being fine. My double test came back 1:25 and it was all fine.

cheryl good luck finding a clear day lol! Sorry to hear about your brother, that must have been awful. I lost my son just before my due date and that was bad enough. But do you know, if I ended up getting a grandchild on that day I really wouldn't mind and I'm sure your parents wouldn't either. If you've lost a child you remember them all the time anyway.

Yes, no chance of me getting up easily, or bending over! Who writes these things? I have a coccyx problem from the last birth which is getting more painful as I get bigger, so I have to brace when I get up and my fanny aches(not in a good way ) if I walk around too much and I have caught a cold in London which means I am full of snot with squeaky ears! Heartburn not showing itself too much this time, I usually get it quite early on. DS loved the holiday - what was the best bit about being in London? The giant escalators in the Tube! Tourists, eh?

I'm going for induction, intervention all the way for me with a lovely midwife I'm friends with and I trust. And I'll be sneaky as it will be happening in November at 38 weeks!
