Sending you cyber hugs Enthusia {{{HUG}}} It happens to me sometimes, and I haven't a clue as to why!!! Thankfully i've been fine for a while but do expect that it can creep up on me at any time. Let your friend take your mind off things and enjoy the day. My DH is going to be away again tomorrow and has asked me to go with him. I don't really want to do any more travelling but just hate being here alone at night time. It's silly really as my neighbour is always around and my friend is just a few minutes away...just don't settle when he's not here (i'm a big baby i guess). Anyway...let us know how you are later in the day.

Think DH and I are not going to bother with a nursery so that's another thing off my mind. Although i was looking fwd to spending time on it we are going to utilise any space that we have at the moment. Baby will be in with us and his wardrobe/drawers etc..will stay in the spare room with the single bed. That way if we have more than just a couple staying over there is an extra room. Hope we've made the right decision! Feel a bit relieved to be honest. Suppose i can still paint walls or do the odd thing etc.. if i really feel the need.

Good luck at the hospital Twinkle and when is your DD's first day? Is it the 1st?

rodeo1 · 24/08/2005 11:20

Oh well done Enthusia! We're de-cluttering at the mo which is great for your mood too. Just opening a sorted wardrobe makes me smile! How sad!!

I'm about to start on the mass of baby clothes, accumulated from 2 different sex babies after my cuppa! Gulp! Have tackled under beds, childrens drawers, our wardrobes and drawers, the utility room, the sheds and so on! Even had a mass toy cull the other day! Felt a bit guilty slinging it all, did sent a few bits to charity though.

How does everyone feel about the milupa ad on the home page? I rarely go to the home page, my shortcut goes straight to our thread. Did click on the link though and it didn't seem too bad (don't bite my head off!! ) but I know it's upset a lot of people, loads of threads about it. It's a real shame Tiktok is leaving/has left over it. Am I right in thinking she's a breast feeding counsellor(?), as from a very selfish point of view I know I'm going to use the breast-feeding threads a lot in the nextcouple of months.

What a miserable day, the weather is terrible and I left the (dry) washing out on the line last night! Poo! Have to venture out and do a bit of shopping later, only had 2 slices of bread, no butter and no weetabix this morn, so the children had to had peanut butter on dry toast for their brekkie before activity morning

Right, I'd better get into gear...

speak to you all later ,

30 weeks today!!

Oh good idea Chacha, I was going to advise you not to bother with the nursery a while back but I got distracted I think!!

ChaCha · 24/08/2005 11:57

Good morning Rodeo

I'm sorry but i had to LOL at your leaving the washing out. I did the same but made DH go and get it late last night. It's a real bummer when that happens. Bit of an old mother hubbard scenario here too..cannot be bothered to venture to shops today. Am having a tidy up via the PC every 30 minutes or so...really, really lazy day today. Only have my yoga class scheduled later on so enjoying pottering around.

Forgot to mention the occassional cramps that i wake up with in my feet or calves...its 'orrible!!!!!! What's the cure? DH finds it hilarious when i wake in the night grabbing my legs screaming 'It's back!!!!!' LOL.

CADS · 24/08/2005 13:31

Hi everyone. Yes, am back.

A belated welcome and congrats to llouou, it's always nice to have new members.

Have been hooked on LOST, we got the whole series from a friend and I wasn't able to stop watching it till I'd finished the whole series. So between DIY, cleaning and organising frenzies and LOST, I haven't been on the PC much.

I see everyone has been nesting too and am impressed by the energy we seem to have. Wish it would last through until baby's 1st birthday.

Also had a mw check yesterday. Mine went well, apart from the fact that baby is breech at the moment. Will have to start moving around the house on all fours. Due back in 3 weeks again.

Also, have managed to convince DH to let me have a homebirth but when I told the mw, she didn't seem to keen. She said that she will have to come and access my home to see that it is suitable and started babbling about lighting, parking, space and a few other things. I didn't realise that they did a home accessment and will be really gutted if they won't allow it because of something like parking or lighting. Anyone else planning a home birth?

The backache kicked in a few weeks ago and I have started to have pelvic pain in bed (when moving position), hope I don't get SPD. I had sciatia with ds and that was bad enough with out having a toddler to look after.

Agree with chacha and rodeo on leaving the nursery for now. We didn't decorate ds room and won't be doing it for the baby either. Thought we would wait until they are older and see what they are into. Also, thought it would be nice for them to pick what colours, characters, etc they would like. I guess this won't be done until they each go into a proper bed. DS hasn't figured out how to climb out of his cotbed and I am not in any rush to move him into a bed, at the moment.

Have been thinking about getting a buggy board for ds, who will be 21mnths when baby is born. Any advise? Do you think he will be too young? It will be mainly for short trips when I am on my own. I will most probably us a carrier for the baby at first.

Has anyone got names yet? We seem to be clashing heads at the moment. DH doesn't like my names and I can't stand his. Amazingly, my MIL, SIL and my mom all like my names so I have some added support. We just seem to be stuck when it comes to girls names. Likely ds was a boy because DH and i could agree on a girl's name last time either. It was only when I went into labour that dh agreed to use the girl name I picked, Isabella Louise. Unfortunately, he doesn't like it AGAIN. Men!!

Off to feed myself before ds wakes up.

HAven't read my post so please ignore my spelling/grammer mistakes.

Have a good day everyone.

Thanks Cha Cha, girls from work took me to the chinese - really pogged now and had a wine woo hoo
need a nap ! x

CADS · 24/08/2005 14:51

Oops sorry Sharon - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Went on so long about myself that I forgot. Have a nice evening.

ChaCha · 24/08/2005 14:59

Hi Cads - You've been busy!! I hope that you get the home birth that you want. Might be worth posting a separate thread on the topic in the pregnancy section, is possible that other MNers/mw's have been through this and can tell you exactly what they will be assessing. Would never have thought parking and lighting would be an issue but there you go!

Sharon - you had to mention Chinese food didn't you..I am now having visions of my favourite dish..I am really hungry but NOTHING is enticing me here, probably because there is nothing that's easy to make. Hmph!

Nova - I've just had a look at the birth company in Harley Street and they seem to be the nearest place for a scan and it looks great. They are affiliated with the Portland right? The Portland looks fab.....

rodeo1 · 24/08/2005 15:59

Ooh stop going on about Chinese!! I love Salt & Chilli Beef at the moment, and Crispy Duck in Plum Sauce, with egg fried rice, mmmmmmm!! Oh let's hope I've forgotton about it by teatime, I've just bought pork chops!! What is your favorite dish Chacha BTW?!

Cads, I didn't realise they do a 'home assessment'?? Don't think they do around here. If I wasn't having a section I would have loved a homebirth. Tessasmum is hoping to have one and her MW has been really supportive. Let's hope your's cheers up a bit! And it really is your decision in the end surely? Not hers! I'd agree with chacha - start a post on the Childbirth section - you'll be bound to get some good advice there.

Happy Birthday Sharon!!! Hats and party poppers all round!!

Cads, love Lost too!! I'm definitely watching tonight, just hoping I'm not going to miss any when baby comes along!! Oh dear - showing my sad side again!!

Been to Asda, and just succumbed to a Big Mac and a big coke! Children were at their granny's so I do feel a bit guilty about having one, especially as I don't let them have them - me and my double standards!! I think it's terrible having a McDs inside a supermarket, we always go to a check-out further down so the children don't see the big M sign and luckily it hasn't caused any arguments - yet!

CADS · 24/08/2005 16:14

Thanks Rodeo and Chacha - Will definitely post re homebirth, because MW asked want was being done about ds and implied that they don't allow children and almost made it seem that he shouldn't even be in the house.

Rodeo - If you do miss any of the LOST esp, I can post them to you on DVD. When you are ready of course. Might get you through those sleepless nights.

Finally, will everyone stop mentioning Chinese!!!

rodeo1 · 24/08/2005 16:31

Cads, how terrible to suggest sending ds away! Isn't the point of a homebirth!! Having your family around you in your familiar surroundings!! Gosh - I really hope she lightens up, maybe she's having an off week...

I've just updated the stats list and I'm not sure if it's correct, for instance, I've put that your having a girl Cads - have I made that up?! Anyway - correct at your leisure!!

ooooooohhhh, chinese................

OP posts:
ChaCha · 24/08/2005 16:31

Rodeo - I love the chicken with cashew nuts (accompanied with egg fried rice and noodles) but can't go to any Chinese restaurant and have to wait until we make a trip up North. The thought of it today is just making my mouth water - I'm going to kindly ask DH to cook me something nice while at yoga. I have that sicky feeling coming on

Big Mac and coke - and NO kids!!! The cheek of it!!!! I think i'm going to have to ask that the ladies on this thread do not mention food today...what's wrong with you all??

rodeo1 · 24/08/2005 16:37

What makes it worse is that I can see my chinese from my bedroom window!! And we decided to have one on Monday night, I was in the process of ringing our order through, to realise it doesn't open on a Monday!!! And of course, no other takeaway, chinese or not, will do!

Hey, the sun's come out! Maybe the washing will dry after all!!

twinkle1 · 24/08/2005 17:10

happy birthday sharon!!!!!!
Will you all be quite about chinese, i love chicken fried rice and sweet and sour sauce, only problem is i like it from chinese in N/east only 250 mile trip do you think they will deliver?????
Well you would all laugh i went for my support belt thingy from the big physio unit today, they tried to measure round my bump and had to get a bigger tape measure, the kids laughed at me and i now feel like a elephant. The support thing is less like a belt and more like bondage equipment (dh will be pleased) not sure if i will be able to wear it for long periods but we will see

Afternoon gils, Happy Birthday Sharon all together for a rousing rendition of the Happy B'Day pls!

Have had a cleaning frenzy this morning as a couple of friends and their kids came over this afternoon. ben had the morning from hell & has now been plonked in front of Thunderbirds while I sort out my tax credits!

Lol at you lot and your chinese cravings I had this a few weeks ago so it has worn off for me now but god knows i want chocolate and I want it all the time!!! Does anyone else feel sick again? It's seriously irritating me now!!!

Cads had to laugh at the home assessment we had one when we got a cat from the cat protection league and we only just passed that as the woman had her nose far in the air she was looking at the ceiling - there's no way we'd ever pass for a home birth!!!

Right I've been summoned to fix bens hairyplane as he calls them, so I had better go. Rodeo I'll check your stats against mine when I get back on.

By the way am I missing something with the Aptimil advert, what's wrong with it?

Speak to you all later Beks

BEKsmum · 24/08/2005 17:26

Aaaarrgghhhh parenting tip for you new mums to be out there never ever leave three 3 year olds unsupervised in there bedroom when you've stashed playdough in the cupboard - I've just found it all over the carpet!!!

Sorry for the typos in the last one none of you look like fish in my hi gils opener!!!

babyonboard · 24/08/2005 18:38

Happy Birthday!

Good luck to those planning homebirths..I would love one, but as it is my first and our flat is very small..with no off street parking and three floors up I bet i'd never be able to!
i tried to get into a birthing centre run by kings in peckham, but the receptionist claimed they had a 15 month waiting list!
laughed my ass off at that one...how on earth would you be forward thinking/ in control of your body to plan a birth before concieving! left me stumped!

I had a bad couple of days..fainted again..and ended up getting an ambulance at 3am tuesday morning..dp had called nhs direct and when they said they would call an ambulance immediately i panicked and tried to talk them out of it1
It all seemed very dramatic and scary..and to make matters worse they sent and ambulance and paramedic car! must have been a slow night!

I was on the labour ward..again... terrifying..couldn't believe the screams!
me and tot were monitered overnight and my blood pressure is still low, but he was fine. we had a bedside scan and he was sucking his thumb! Aaaah!
i have a practice nurse visiting daily to check my blood pressure and blood sugar, whic his frankly amazing service from the nhs, and very reassuring
this makes it the third hospital stay this pregnancy..he's going to be trouble, I can tel1, teehee
hope you guys are all ok
take care
x

rodeo1 · 24/08/2005 19:12

Gosh I'm on here again!!

Been through the stats list to try and guess what everyone who hasn't found out what they're having are having!! Mainly because I'm bored!

Right here goes,

Girls - Nova, Enthusia, Beks, Firstbaby, LilJ, Sarahsaus and Sharon, plus those of us who've found out - Me, Tex, Yingers and Cads (?)

Boys - Laylasmum, Tessasmum, Busy and Twinkle plus those who've found out - Chacha, Hamster, Alfiesmum, Jenjam, Bamik, Kristina, Goldenoldie (x2!) and Babyonboard

So there you go, there are my phsycic predictions!! Not that I am phsycic in anyway BTW!!

(Really must learn how to spell that word because it looks so wrong!!)

What does everyone else think??

OP posts:
CADS · 24/08/2005 19:29

Rodeo - Yes, we are having a girl.

Beks - we wouldn't pass a home assessment for cats because we live on a busy national road. Wonder if that will be a problem for my homebirth, especially, as there is no guarantee that the mws will be able to park on our side of the road.

BOB - You poor thing. You aren't having a easy time.

novadandypowder · 24/08/2005 19:50

ooo I can't even guess the sex of my own baby, let alone anyone else's! My family and friends are soooo split over whether it's a boy or girl, and I must say even though DH thinks it's a girl i'm still 50/50. I'm glad I didn't find out now as it's so exciting waiting to see, and I can genuinely say that it really doesn't bother me what flavour it turns out to be.

Happy Birthday Sharon . I opened a window on saturday night and the air smelt like autumn was coming. It's a very special smell for me because it means that my birthday will be coming up soon. Does anyone else have bizarre birthday excitment triggers? I never grow up....

I've signed up for the MN xmas gathering in London at the end of Nov, so hopefully I'll be able to make it. Not sure how I'll feel after baby is actually here but it might be good to get together with a bunch of sympathetic mothers by then. My friend was telling me how she went to a wedding 5 days after her son was born, so I know there is life after birth.

BoB, lol at the 15 month waiting list, thats impossible surely!!!! Must be quite frightening for you to keep fainting, I'd be too scared to do anything.

Chacha, are you still thinking about going for the scan then? I'm very pleased to be going to the Portland, it is lovely.

Enthusia, yes cakes for 'friend', we believe that

I'm with you girls who have absent partners, my DH has been away in Scotland since friday, taking the car key with him (need rolling eyes emoticon). He popped back fleetingly yesterday but forgot to bring the key!! He's now back in Scotland until sunday. I always find it really hard at night when he's not here, I end up sleeping on the sofa with the cats most of the time. Also, as a result of having no car key, I haven't been able to do a big shop, so we also have no food in the house.

babyonboard · 24/08/2005 19:59

He he..another thing my notorious mil has done, was to be convinced the baby was a girl..she was tangibly upset for a while after our scan which really annoyed me.
She said she wanted to teach the girl piano, and boys wouldn't be interested! (and she frequently tells my dp she wishes he had been a girl..hahaha!)
As for the sweep stakes..i have a few gueses for some of you girls..will have to put them all together and post (not sure why...just hunches..hehehe)
0h, and yes, ..the fainting is terrifying, i have had it before with migraines but always had a warning, but these times i have literally been fine, then hit the deck and come round clueless...i am banned from ironing, taking baths with the door unlocked and going to loo at night on my own. And i am increasingly worried to go out alone..a nightmare!
It will all be worth it though...you have to give a little after all..hehe

I thought about the meet up but my due date is the 20th so don't want to commit! If the tot comes early then I'll hopefully be along..

Laylasmum · 24/08/2005 20:01

Evening all!!
not been on much recently as the days just seem to be flying by at the moment!!
5 and a bit weeks left at work ( actually works out at 17 days as i'm a 'part timer ') have to say am really looking forward to it now even though being at home with a 3.5 yr old will be harder work than being at work!!
Dd is starting nursery 5 mornings a week from sept 13th so have been trying to get her head round it a bit as she wasn't really very keen when we went for visits!! Am hoping that a new disney princess lunchbag will swing it for me!!

So a boy for me then Rodeo? Actually have no real idea but would be suprised if it was a boy in some ways!!Don't really know what i'd do with one of those!!!My world is full of fairies and princesses!

Any how will get off pc for now as DH is moaning and need to get Dd in bed to start the ironing!!

Anyone settled on names that they are willing to tell? We've got a few but no definates11

laylasmum 30+3 xxx
