Aw..good idea..
my midwife frequently tells me i have a big baby..
but i trust more the scan, at 22 weeks he measured spot on for edd
my mum had me 3 weeks late at 11.6 pounds, with a 49 hour labour argh..hope it doesnt happen the same for me!
but then, my little bro and sis were both born exactly 7 weeks early so that would be worse..

twinkle1 · 22/08/2005 19:03

oooh Beks that sounds great i like the idea of a sweepstake. I dont know what im having (other then im sure it has big feet!!) as for a date, although im having a section i dont have a specific date.Hope that lot helps.I think i will have a fairly small baby as the other two were only 6lb 12oz and 6lb 8oz but who knows nature has a funny way of surprising you

Yingers, have you looked at the buggy boards you can get that fit on the back of a regular buggy, so when your toddler gets fed up of walking they just hop on and you can push them along too? I'm not sure what age you can use them from, but it'll def. be cheaper than getting a double buggy for a few months.

My spirits are actually quite high at the moment, so I'll try sending some woo hoo vibes out to you all .

ChaCha · 22/08/2005 20:32

Evening all,

Have just tired myself reading all your posts since Thursday. Nova and Enthusia - I am tired just thinking about all that you're doing!! All the furniture items and nursery ideas sound brill. I really think we should get some pics posted somewhere (maybe on the members list).

Am also fretting a little about finances as my last pay is this month (which reminds me i've forgotten to pick up my MAT B1 at Dr's this week) and there seems to be so much still to do. Better get used to it for a while i think. Won't complain - we'll be fine

Also must mention that i had swollen ankles this weekend and am truly hoping that i do not turn into a replica of the michelin man!!!!!!! Swelling has gone down today, am wondering if the heat at the weekend and standing a lot has done it.

Any news from the Dr Enthusia???

tessasmum · 22/08/2005 22:16

What are you lot on???? Is there a baby-frenzy thread somewhere that I've missed out on? This is just too much activity and far too much organisation
Busy, I'm with you, haven't bought anything yet. Don't intend to either until about 5 weeks before baby is due when I'm helping out at the local NCT sale - get to sort everyone's stuff and then have first pick! Even then I'm only looking for a cot, some muslins (can never have enough and most of Tessa's are now sad grey rags) and a few unisex babygrows.

Yingers - Tessa will also be 2 and 9 months when this one shows up and we are definately going for the buggyboard option. May be worth trying one out first if you can though because she HATED the child-minder's one to start with but now fights to get on it and is very excited at the thought of having her own.

Nova - re having photos taken - DO IT. We just took some cheapy digital ones last time and I am so glad we did. Afterwards you will never believe or remember just how you looked. However crap you have felt it is an amazing process and comparing those photos with the end result is quite stunning.
They are also proving useful this time round as I can show Tessa what she looked like when she was in my tummy.
I definately want to do more this time.

BoB was it you who was going to be a fairy? Meant to post on the other thread as thought it was a brilliant idea. Not that I'm fairy material, not many 5'10", 11 stone fairies about
Also BoB meant to say last time not to worry about moaning on here, with a MiL like that you need all the support you can get. Fully agree with the others that you need to sort out exactly what you and your DH want and start to deal with her now. It sounds like its going to be an ongoing nightmare but, as with toddlers, a united front a a lot of repetition can get through in the end, sometimes

Rubbish shopping for me in Cambridge on Saturday, DP there don't do maternity stuff and Mothercare's stuff was either too big or too small and was horrible anyway. However did have lovely meal and an ENORMOUS chocolate fudge sundae without a shread of guilt

29 weeks and WELL over 11 stone now!!!

Enthusia · 23/08/2005 08:44

Morning all

What a glorious day, hope you are all bathed in the sunshine I am having!!!!!!

Dr phoned this morning to say no urine infection and that if I have no symptoms then I should just carry on as normal, he didn't seem worried in the slightest, which is good, I think.

Dh is away on a training course at mo, couldn't sleep a wink last night, house is quite isolated and a bungalow, so kept picturing things walking past window (someone did this at 3am 2 nights ago) not first time DH has been away but first time I have had hardly any sleep - still feeling quite energised, so see how long that lasts!

ChaCha - also fretting about money - I think it is because I have more time to think about it!!!! Wish I could earn a little, but not allowed when on maternity are you?

Right off to paint the rest of that wardrobe today - It is looking good, but paint is so thin (for some reason) that it keeps dripping and I end up in a right mess!!!!!

Everyone is so busy, mind you when the kids go back to school im going to get the sewing machine out:O I got lots of matching mini moo stuff in M&S sale but bought extra curtains to make a cot tidy, nappy stacker and anything else i fancy should be fun.

Morning all,

Hope all goes well at the mw's Twinkle

Glad to hear that everything was ok with the dr's Enthusia, you must be very relieved.

Yingers I agree with Tessasmum a buggy board would probably be best rather than a double buggy because by 3 Ben was more than ready to start walking everywhere and the buggy quickly became obsolete as he was so independent - i think one of those extendable dog leads might have come in useful though

Right best go & get ready and think up something to do with Ben today as it's sucha nice day, speak to you all later Beks (28+2)

Afternoon ladies,

Yingers, my dd will be 2 and 1 month when baby arrives, i have decided on a pram for baby and dd will either walk or be pushed in her buggy by whovever im out with as i dont go out on my own very often. But for when i do venture out alone i have decided dd will go in her buggy and baby in a sling.

I was also going to go for the buggy board option but was told that if you attach a buggy board to your pram the warranty isnt valid any more. Also a friend of my sister had one and said that her ds kept banging his head on the pram handle and had to get off at kurbs. Also i was told when looking at a pram that a buggy board wouldnt fit on so thats something else to think about.

With regards to prams i have completely annoyed the nursery shop and changed my mind about my pram, am now going for this

Wish i could be as organised as everyone else when it comes to a nursery, but having a dd already and only having a 2 bedroomed house, if i have a girl all will we swell and i can decorate dds room in pink for her and baby (not been living here long so not done already) but then if i have a boy we would need to move house when baby needs own room so decorating would be a waste of time and money. So i dont know whether im coming or going till baby is here.

Everyone seems to be going to midwife more often than me, my last apt was 27th July, next is 7th spet. Every six weeks, im sure i went every 4 weeks when pg with dd but then i went to a different hospital.

Hope everyone is well...

26 weeks today

hamster · 23/08/2005 14:27

Hi everyone,
feeling particularly highly strung today. I don't know why, but I'm STRESSED.
Got the midwife at half 4 this afternoon for my anti-D jab (Arrrr I don't want to go )
I'm sure I'll be fine though....I hope!

Sarah-I think that in 2nd pg's or 3rd etc, you do go less often. It depends on your pg history, and how easy previous ones were. I hate it, I love going and listening to the heartbeat, and having someone really listen and take notice of me for 10 minutes or so.

With regards to the buggy thing with a toddler aswell. I think over about 2 1/2 a buggy board is more than reasonable. My ds will only be 15 month when no2 is here, so I've gone for the Phil and Ted's Explorer(it can be converted to a single or double as and when you need it).

Right, but get on with my housework, before I go to see the midwife.

Have a great afternoon all!
Catch you later.

Twinkle1- I forgot to ask for my MATB1 form when at the surgery last week so phoned to ask about it this morning. Was told they wouldn't give it to me until i'm 28 weeks so have to call in to collect then. Strange!

SarahS- I've seen my midwife once and that was at about 15weeks. I don't see her again until 29 weeks - i guess this is the norm here though.

I am still getting nowhere fast with regard to a decision on travel system, cot, or anything else for that matter. Cannot make a decision on anything...sigh.

Well after a 4 hour nap (gulp) best get busy x

I am KNACKERED!!!!! Only went shopping for hour and a half. Maybe it is lack of sleep as well, can barely stand!!!!!!!!!

Sarah, that is the travel system I got, we got the blue and cream one as it was on special offer in Spain when we were out there!!!

ChaCha - Iv'e only just got my form too, got it at my 28 week check up! I see a midwife or dr every 2 to 3 weeeks now, it is very different isn't it?

LilJ · 23/08/2005 17:51

Well I'm back from the Pyranees - not the best place to go when you're pregnant as mountain climbing is definitely out!! But it was nice to get away and relax for a bit. Feeling tired all the time these days and baby very active - hope it's a myth about active in womb, means active in life!

Just started having new kitchen put in which means a month of havoc, but will have a beautiful new room at the end - fingers crossed. But having a room torn up does nothing for my nesting instincts which seem to be starting to kick in. And not being able to cook except on BBQ or in microwave is not so great when I have such a voracious appetite.

Sweepstakes sounds good - I don't know sex, but I'm sure it's a boy and betting on 23 Nov as birth date, weight I'm not sure but would say somewhere around 9 lbs.

ChaCha - I got given my MatB1 at 20 weeks?

Had builders in today putting in new windows and doors. House covered in dust and they are returning at 8am tomorrow morning to finish off so no lie-in for me.

45 inch waist now.................

rodeo1 · 23/08/2005 18:46

Hello girls,

Oh I have missed you all! Been ill with the 'problem' again! Was down gynae clinic again on Sunday as I was convinced it's not getting better. Anyway apparently it is getting better but it's taking so bloody long!! Getting really p*ssed off about it and keep bursting into tear and it was really stinging over the weekend.

Asked for stronger painkillers and was prescribed codeine which did help but I've spent the last 2 days in bed as they made me really light-headed and nauseous. Was actually sick for the first time this pregnancy!

Anyway, feeling quite a bit better today so I'm hoping I'm on the mend! I'd better be because we're off on hols on Friday - positive thoughts and vibes please!!

I'm another non buyer at the mo, and you lot are making me panicky with all your purchases!! I've been looking on ebay too and there is quite a few bargains on there, going to have a bit of a spree in Sept I think!

Have finished work - hurray, it really was getting a bit much working those evenings so I'm glad they've come to a end!

Erm...don't think I've got any other news - sweepstake is a brill idea Beks, have you got any replies yet? Think I might try and guess what everyone's having boy/girl wise later, might pop my guesses on here later! Although I think we've probably got a few more members since the list was last updated so may have to sort it first....right blabbering now so will speak to you all later!

Hey Ladies,

I haven't posted in aaaaaages! How are you all. I'm 27 + 3 now and I have swollen feet and hands, backache, boob ache and every other kind of ache you can think of . Oh yeah, I'm aneamic so on iron tabs! Blimey, list goes on. And I won't even go there with how tired I get!

Having just breifly gone through some of the posts, it's amazing how far gone we are! I remember talking about being 14 weeks and look at us now in our 23's and even 29 weeks! I dunno about any of you but it is flying by for me!

I start mat leave on 6th Nov (2 weeks hols before that though). Everyone thinks I've left it late, but I want to spend as much time with baba as I can.

Anway, hope you're all well and I'll try to come in as often as pos.

Love, Bami xxx

ChaCha · 23/08/2005 19:19

Glad you posted Bamik - I was wondering where you were. Totally agree, time seems to be flying by.

Rodeo - Awww...just one of those things that you have to grin and bear I guess - hopefully it will be clearing soon and you will have a fab break away. Good that you are no longer working, can't imagine how tired you must get working evenings (you must be standing most of the night too) enjoy the rest!!

Enthusia - I'm inclined to go with your travel system. Simply because two of you have already chosen this model and I am crap at making any sort of decision at the moment. Did you find a mattress for the cot yet? I can't remember if you've said that already. Both mum and MIL have been buying babs lots of clothes so that's one thing that i will not buy (except the occassional 'too cute' to miss out on items).

Feeling v.tired today, weekend catching up on me and could easily return to bed for an early night. As it happens poor DH has come home and cooked and i'm feeling v.sorry for myself...I am also craving sweetcorn!

Should i call surgery again and demand my MAT form now?

LilJ - Welcome back. Could you try cooking or making meals at a neighbours/friends and then freeze them ready to be microwaved when builders have gone? I find that usually helps.

Goldenoldie - Tell me about it! When i wasn't over at my friend's place as i was sat up at 8am fully dressed trying to look with it! Was really tired in the end and glad when they left. House is still a bit of mess though - ho hum...[fingers up to everything emoticon]
At least there is no work!!

Beks - Hello

yingers74 · 23/08/2005 21:11

sarah - have also heard some negative things about buggy boards. My dd can be a bit lazy at times so I quite like the idea that if she wanted to sit she could, I have seen a really small one which is about the size of a normal buggy although u can only get it on the internet, have never seen it in a shop. The price is about 140 pounds which is not as bad as some others. will probably leave the decision until the last minute though.

Bami - u really have been going through the wars. Am with you on the backache!

yingers74 · 23/08/2005 21:13

cha - sweetcorn, I wish I was craving something normal, I am craving (but have none) dried tangilitelle and the smell of damp - thank god we have a cellar!!!!

Enthusia · 24/08/2005 08:31

Not feeling full of sunshine this morning!

DH is away, comes back tonight, started feeling down yesterday evening and has continued into this morning. Can't stop crying but don't have any particular reason. Have friend coming over at 11ish, hoping I will be ok, and that that will make me feel better. Feel crap at the mo. Have been feeling so good, this just came out of the blue. Sorry to whinge.

Hope you are all having a better day

If it were not for the cleaner there would be many, many more rows in this house.

Enthusia · 24/08/2005 10:48

Right, have just taken out all frustration, anger, downess, whatever on nursery!!!!!!!! I know we are not mean to move furniture (I didn't lift anything just 'walked' it and pushed.) but God do I feel better now. Got heart working, flush to my cheeks and I feel so much happier. Plus old wardrobes are now painted and where I want them, as are drawers etc, hooray - cot to put together on Friday and pick up new changing sideboard thing tonight!!!!!!!

Right now for cakes etc for friend
