Evening everyone!

Glad to say I slept better last night as well, after 2 very broken nights when I just couldn't get comfy, hips just went numb and achy(!) and no position was right. Saturday night DH and I hot-bunked it on the sofa - he was driven there early on by my snoring and I ended up there later as I couldn't sleep upstairs. Got woken up by a very puzzled little girl who had probably come downstairs to play so mummy and daddy wouldn't know she was up

Well done ChaCha on the travel system, another Jane girl on here, I think that makes 5! And a good reduction too.

BoB - love the outfit.

Well, went to Babies'R'Us today in an attempt to get organised a bit. Couldn't find anything I liked/wanted/needed and spent most of the time trying to persuade Tessa that she couldn't try out the cots, serves us right for letting her try out the one we were given on Saturday!
So no more organised at all, think I'll just let you lot do the organising, you're much better at it than me

Londoner - glad to see another camper on here, think Rodeo is one too. It should be a real test of just how easy our 'easy to put up tent' is.

Right off to scoff pear pudding that I couldn't manage after dinner. Still starving most of the time but can't fit what I want into my tummy any more

32 weeks

if anyone wants to enlighten me on how to post a photo please do. now who introduced me to debbie bliss the other day?? enthusia? I haven't knitted a thing ever, apart from a small square thing that nobody ever used and yesterday i went to john lewis and found myself drawn to the haberdashery department to drool over the sewing machines (haven't used one of those since my GSCEseither. anyhow bought some lovely green wool and started making a bootee...now i'm addicted!! unfortuantely i did cock it up around 2 a.m this morning but have put it in post to my mum and am....now focusing on cocking up the other one. must catch up on some sleep nighty night.

novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 09:07

try this

Time for me to have the weird dreams - had one this morning where I'd had fertility treatment and when I went to pick up my baby they revealed that they'd messed up and that I'd had a gerbil instead!!!! lol!!!!

novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 09:09

jenjam, it was Lilj who was into the Bliss knitting I think. If you're coming along to the next meet can you show me what I'm doing wrong on the ends of my knitting please? I just can't do the last stitch of a row properly and it's really bugging me.

JenJam · 13/09/2005 09:54

oooh how did you do the 'try this' nova? thanks!
i'm starting to feel like a technophobe.

JenJam · 13/09/2005 09:59

Enthusia · 13/09/2005 11:02

Hiya all

I did farrrrrr toooooo much yestreday. Thought I'd go with DH to Ipswich, he had a meeting and I thought I could have another lovely day swanning around the shops etc. Well We got there late, it took about 2.5 hours, much longer than normal, so DH couldn't drop me into town, he said I could wait until after the first meeting and then he'd drop me in, but I thought we would feel like real weirdos with me sitting in a car showroom for an hour. So I decided to walk! I had not much idea where the town was, but knew where the railway station was and thought 'oh it can't be far' it turned out to be abouy 2 miles in total. It was actually a lovely walk. Then stopped and had a costa coffee brekkie for an hour and then walked around Ipswich stopping every now and then from 9am until 3pm. At 3 I'd had enough and knew DH should be finishing soon, so thought I'd head back - was thinking of stopping at an easy pick up place about half way. Then preggie hormones kicked in and I decided 'oh, stuff it' and walked the whole way back, DH wasn't ready so I then walked past the dealership and further on to a McDonalds where I sat - until I nearly fainted and had to prop myself up in a corner. By the time DH arrived I was in a right state. Managed to relax in car on way home, but then had to go straight for delivery suite visit.

Anyway this morning I got up with DH at 6, but promptly went back to bed and have only just got up - I obviously needed it - reckon I walked about 6-7 miles yesterday! Think I may need to realise I need to slow down!

Anyway- onto better news, the hospital visit was great - some VERY weird couples there though. Saw where I'd be giving birth and the wards etc, they have an absolutely brill pool and the midwife said it hardly ever gets used. People in our region apparently don't think highly of waterbirths. She was actually trying to convince us to give it a go, WTF. I thought it would be a mad rush through the doors, ie, in labour - arrive at hospital - another women arrives at same time and we both sprint up the stairs to the birthing pool door!!!!! They also had great birthing balls and beanbags etc.

One women was waiting with us in the meeting room, just standing with her husband as we all were and when the midwife asked us if we were all there for the tour, this women said 'Oh is that what this is' to which her husband replied, 'no my wife has been having regular contractions for the past two hours'No need to say they were whipped off pretty quickish - was quite funny though!

On the tour we also saw a common room area we could use, and in there I got a fab greeting of 'It's Mrs 'Enthusia' (insert real name here, one of my kid's mum's other daughters(who I had worked with) had just given birth. That stopped the whole tour as we admired the gorgeous little baby, it was a little surreal though, and we got a few odd looks!

We also say the operating theatre - bloody hell that looked scary! Don't fancy ending up in there - but if I do at least it will be for a good reason.

The birthing rooms themsleves are lovely, quite large and all have ensuite huge baths. There is only one ward for afterwards with 5 siderooms that can be hired on a first come first served basis. Does anyone know whether hiring your own room for after the birth is better than being on the ward. The MW said she thought the ward was better as you get to meet the other new mums, solidarity and all those kinds of things, but do you actually get a chance to have any rest, as won't their babies wake yours and yourself? Anyone had any experience of this? The MW said that first time mums can stay in hospital as long as they want, but usually 2 nights is the right amount of time, 3 minimum if you had a c-section.

Right anyway, better stop boring you all now and get on with something else!

Beks - did you want to arrange a meet-up around you, considering there are quite a few around your area?

ChaCha - glad dentists went well, hope blood is nice and easy too.

JenJam - well done on the photo!

Right off I go, I can hear you snoring as I sign off

novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 11:12

wow Enthusia, I need to lay down just having read your post . I'm like you though I always think 'oh I'll just walk' and end up walking for miles.

I'm very anti-social and a light sleeper so I would go for a side room if they're not that expensive.

Jenjam, you very nearly had it on your first post, you just missed off the } at the end.

Xena · 13/09/2005 11:13

Enthusia, If I was you I'd go for my own room in a shot. I only stayed in hospital over night with my 2nd baby but it was awful there were 4 beds in a ward. DD was an angel and slept soundly but in 1 bed there was a crying mother and in the other 2 beds the babies cried all night.

ChaCha · 13/09/2005 11:30

Enthusia, I really had to LOL at your post! Especially at the PG hormones kicking in as you decide to walk the rest of the way!!!! Awww...poor Enthusia, hope you're well and rested today.

I have to confess on the PG hormones issue that I cried at the stupidest thing ever!!!!!
As we pulled up at the petrol station there is a massive queue of cars and a sign that says 'no diesel'. DH starts going on about supposed strike and politics etc. I look round in bewilderment and just start crying saying 'What's going on? Is there no more petrol?' to which DH is now hysterical and red in the face with laughter! I did laugh too though, was funny. Has to be the best one yet.

I have just had the biggest breakfast ever!!! 2 waffles, veggie sausages and a massive cheese & tomato omelette....I feel quite stuffed!!!

Better go and tidy up. Lots of visitors this week.

babyonboard · 13/09/2005 14:41

Chacha..thats really funny! wonder if anyone can beat you!
Enthusia..my god! I am so impressed, sounds like you were on a mission... hehehe. Hope you are sitting back with your feet up today!
I have to confess ladies..I bought some Percy Pigs today just to see what all the fuss was avbout..and I really don't like them! Am I going to become the black sheep of the due in nov club?
Feeling stressed already as mil is visiting this weekend, then again later this month, and again in october..argh!
She booked her ticket without even asking after I told her we had arranged to view new flats this weeekend..she seems to think this is a decision she gets to be involved in...grr!
She then told me she hopes we have picked 'decent areas' as there is a risk of me being mugged for the baby when he's born..teeheee!
I'm actually worried how late we have left moving..we could wait til after the birth but I know it will be months before we feel like getting round to it if we do.
Also have noticed the new neighbours struggling to get their baby in and out. They have to bring baby up the stairs, then go back down and fold up the pram (which they leave on the street!)..and we would have an extra flight of stairs too! not good!
I can imagine feeling a bit trapped and isolated when dp isn't home, which wouldn't be good for me or baby.
Lol at your knitting troubles, I was going to have a go, but realised my grandma always started and finished off for me, and I don't have the first clue..so will stick to sewing for now!
I'm off for a haircut, courtesy of dp's overtime last week..hehe. I realised I hadn't had it done since i found out I was pregnant and it has grown an incredible amount!
Hopefully will feel like less of a tramp when I come back on later..hehe
Take care all...

babyonboard · 13/09/2005 14:46

Oh and forgot to add...I have added some new manouvres to my lazy cleaning regime!...
Did the washing up sitting on a kitchen stool earlier, then the ironing whilst sitting on the sofa.
Trying to think of a a similar method for cleaning the windows, maybe lying on the bed/floor with a cloth on the end of a stick!?..hehehe

LilJ · 13/09/2005 14:46

Gosh a lot of posts since Friday! Count me in again for the 30th. I've got a feeling that the sh*t is about to hit the fan at work so I may or may not be still working then.

JenJam - I bought Debbie Bliss' Beginner Knits for Babies at John Lewis along with the right wool & needles to do the first project - a very simple baby scarf - which is very imprfect at the beginning and then get much better at the end. I'm now working on the boat-neck jumper but haven't touched it in days so we'll see if I actually complete it in time for the baby to wear it!

Had an extremely hormonal weekend - so much so that I actually had to shut myself away in a dark room for a couple of hours!! Feeling much better now and had a long talk with DH about everything that's going on which was very helpful.

Baby extremely active and moving from side to side a lot. Feet and hands starting to stick out which is very weird. My co-worked have taken to starting at my bump to see the movements.

Off to visit a nursery tonight with DH and brother (who's an educational psychogist so knows about these things!). Hope it's nice and doesn't have a waiting list until 2012.

Enthusia - admire your energy with the marathon walking.

Aagree with everyone else - get your own room ASAP. It's not very nice having to get your tits out to breastfeed your baby with the relatives of four other women watching.

Amazed that your MW said first time mums can stay as long as they want - what if you wanted to stay for a week or two and have a bit of a rest/get breastfeeding established/become confident with baby before going home?

Down this way if you have a normal delivery and everything is fine you get the order of the boot about 6 hours after baby arrives!

Baby - don't like Percy Pigs! Pass em over...........yum.

LilJ - fill us in - what is happening at work. Are you taking action against them!

Are you booking a nursery place? The cheapest one round here will cost us £50 per day, per child, so that's £100 a day for us!

Just come back from Ikea (thanks for the tips Enthusia) bought another cot and a few baby bits. Went to Costco and bought a box of nappies (126 of them!) and some cartons of ready-made baby milk.

Successfully breastfed my son for about 9 months, and will have a go at doing the same for the twins, but know I will only be able to keep it up if I get a bit of sleep at nights. My master plan is that DH will give them a bottle at night to give me a break. However, this is not part of DH's master plan who is already suggesting that maybe I should sleep in the nursery with the babies, while he stays in the cosy master bedroom!

Have bought a super-duper dual electric milking machine and will try and express a bit too, but not sure how I will fit this in...............

Only thing left to get is the pram - when are the sales on again?

novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 15:56

OMG - my part of london has gone petrol crazy. I allowed myself 20 mins to do the 5 min drive to the vets as I knew I had to go past the local sainsburys and I only just made it on time. Needn't have bothered being in such a hurry though as had to wait nearly an hour to be seen . They're always running late, but this was the longest I've had to wait - bl*y cats!

Have decided not to venture out and attempt to go to butchers and pick up dry cleaning, as it's school run time along with the petrol q's, so DH is going to have to make do with the old stuff in the back of the freezer for dinner tonight.

Bob, very impressed with your labour saving skills - ironing on the sofa! Last time I tried to iron when the cleaner was off I was sitting on a stool leaning on the board and managed to burn my arm really badly. D'oh! Looking at flats now is a good idea, you really won't feel like it after the baby is here. I suppose in a way I should be grateful I have a rubbish family as we never get bothered by unwanted visits..

babyonboard · 13/09/2005 16:05

I know what you mean Nova..we are right by the main road to the m25 on blackheath, and there has been incessant beeping of horns from people frustrated at the enormous queue and the fact that it is holding up traffic behind..so glad we don't drive!
I need to go to the hairdressers soon, but have been needing (or at least feeling like it) the loo every 10 minutes as baby is kicking in an awkward place. I'm too worried to go there and need to keep dashing off..argh!(not to mention the hordes of rowdy schoolkids that will be on the buses about now, happy slapping each other and such..hehehe)
would it be awful of me to call a cab? I feel guilty enough at the cost of the cut, but I won't make it otherwise i fear..heheheh (thats if the cab drivers aren't all queueing for petrol of course..hehehe)

novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 16:12

The taxi is a pregnant womans best friend . I really must get a hair cut too, I usually only get it done 2-3 times a year so I don't worry about the cost too much. Want to do it before baby arrives though, but that gives me a few weeks to do it yet.

Enthusia · 13/09/2005 16:14

Oh dear, I haven't ventured out today yet and am a bit worried about it in terms of petrol now. Last time this happened we lived next door to a petrol station and for 2 days and nights we couldn't move our car because the queues were right up our street blocking us in completely (it was a very narrow road as well) - Luckily driving wasn't essential back then.

Am feeling a bit dizzy now so have come for a sit. I have been organising the nursery - it is looking good now, just have a pile of washing as want to wash all the new stuff beforehand.

I am feeling so tired now, don't know if it is as a result of yesterday or the third trimester really kicking in!!!!

Golden - The MW last night said she didn't want any first time mums leaving unil feeding (by whatever method) was fully established. She said they would never kick out a mum and would even take you in at the beginning even if you are not fully in labour, they even have a special area for mums at the beginning of labour. I take it this is quite unusual! The side rooms are £80 a night, might think seriously about taking one up at the time. Thanks for the advice.

Enthusia · 13/09/2005 16:17

Oh and ChaCha - yes that sounds like the same travel system as mine. Does it come with a seperate carrycot, infant seat and then the padding bit to turn it into a buggy? What colour did you get, we got blue and cream?

Golden - well done on your ikea buy, which cot did you go for in the end?

Enthusia · 13/09/2005 16:18

Oh and I found an absolutely great hairdresser but he is in Spain, so my haircut will have to be a lovely treat at Christmas after bubs is born, I imagine I will enjoy the papmering even more then.

babyonboard · 13/09/2005 16:33

Ooh..enthusia i can sympathise with that..
the best haircut I ever had was last year in macedonia visiting dp's family..
his old school friend took me to this shabby llooking place under a high rise, but they were amazing.
spent 5 hours there, drinking cold beers, with loud music, and got all over colour, three different highlights, and a cut and finish for £8..i tried to tip an extra twenty but they refused!
I will try to post a pic later (with another one shopwing my usual bland vut to compare), but it was the most amazing haircut ever..it looked just as good straight from the shower and four months later!
Nova..i have booked the cab..they quoted £4 which isnt at all bad..and worth it to avoid the horrors of london transport!

goldenoldie · 13/09/2005 16:59

Enthusia - I bought the cheapest one - can't remember the name but it was about £22 for the frame and £25 for the mattress. This is cot number 3 - only one more to get! (two upstairs and two downstairs).

Good that hossie will take you in early labour - they usually tell you to go home till you are in 'established' labour.

Hairdressers - I've got a fab little man in Chinatown I go to. I have an appointment booked for Thursday - restyle, cut and colour - the last for some time to come.

Scan at the hospital tomorrow and lunch with a girlfriend after - this week is looking up.

ChaCha · 13/09/2005 17:09

Afternoon all,
Enthusia - is it the 'Oxford Blue' you got then? I wanted that one but DH was insistent on the olive colour which has now grown on me. Is exactly as you described. We pick it up at the weekend
I usually have my hair done abroad when visiting dad. It is a total day of pampering at the salon. My friend and I just sit there for hours getting all sorts done, sipping ice cold lemon juice and turkish coffee...it is bliss. I can't wait until Mar/April though will have to have hair cut very soon here.

Today has been a bit pants! I've done nothing constructive and its already after 5. So much for my busy home day. The Percy Pigs that you all like sound yummy but can't imagine that they're suitable for veggies

DH has just pulled up and i've nothing on for tea.....
