Many thanks to ILike for passing on the baton to myself and Harry . I know we are a bit previous but I am worried I will get the timing wrong .

I feel like I have only been here a wee while but it is invaluable to me .

This is a poem that has helped me in the past .

I have not turned my back on you
So there is no need to cry.
I'm watching you from heaven
Just beyond the morning sky.

I've seen you almost fall apart
When you could barely stand.
I asked an angel to comfort you
And watched her take your hand.

She told me you are in more pain
Than I could ever be.
She wiped her eyes and swallowed hard
Then gave your hand to me.

Although you may not feel my touch
Or see me by your side.
I've whispered that I love you
While I wiped each tear you cried.

So please try not to ache for me
We'll meet again one day.
Beyond the dark and stormy sky
A rainbow lights the way.

Ive sent you a message on FB Shabs!!

hazygirl · 30/03/2009 23:31

shabs i hate that advert its awful.

shabster · 30/03/2009 23:38

To be honest Hazy I hope the man who killed my Matt sees it every time it comes on tv. The same man who has NEVER, EVER apologised to us! Oh that has knocked me sick - havent seen it before - Im off to bed!! Night girls xx

shabster · 31/03/2009 07:18

Good morning girls xx

Deemented · 31/03/2009 07:56

Morning folks.

Shabs - that advert is powerful, isn't it? I can't imagine what you must feel when you see it. My sister's best friend was knocked down and killed by a milk float when they were nine years old... i know that milkman never drove again - i don't think i could either. hugs to you x

shabster · 31/03/2009 08:52

Thanks Dee for your kind words. I didn't sleep well at all last night! It is a very powerful advert but the problem is that the people who speed every day wont be affected by it. Cause they are empty headed numpties!

Matts death was caused by a numpty reversing a flat backed lorry carrying soft drinks. He was only doing about 3 miles per hour but Matt was fairly close behind him. It was on a very quiet housing estate and was the first time Matt was allowed out of the garden on his bike. There were about 30 kids playing out who all witnessed it...I was on my way back to the front door to do the '2 minute check if you are all ok' thing.

Also the little lad in that advert, shocking though it is, is not even a quarter of how horrific the injuries actually are.

If it makes just one speed freak think about what they are doing then it is worth it!

travellingwilbury · 31/03/2009 13:07

Hello all , my stupid computer is playing up which is why I haven't been around for a few days . Feels longer though

Congratulations Melissa

Harry was my first child and I then went on to have two more gorgeous boys but the pregnancy was a roller coaster .

Don't think twice about posting anything on here . If you can't be honest here then I don't know where you can .

I have had a rough few days . I work in homecare and on Sat morning I had a visit to make . I won't go into the long story but I had awful trouble getting in and when I did I found that she had died . It was awful and has brought up a lot of stuff .

Being a grown up bloody sucks sometimes

shabs, sorry to read about the advert and how its effecting you, sending you a hug from nottingham x

shabster · 31/03/2009 17:32

thanks girls....I cant stop watching it - its like a kind of 'morbid curiosity!' Think I will just keep BBC on in future - no adverts!

melissa75 · 31/03/2009 19:51

hi girls...thanks very much for the well wishes. I do not at this point know how far along I am, but think it might be around 7-8 weeks so still fairly early on.

I have not seen the advert you have all been talking about, but shabster, I am sure it must be terribly hard for you to see as it does not sound like it is a pleasant site.

travelling, so sorry to hear about your saturday. Such a difficult job to be in, when you lose people who you are caring for, because no matter what, you do get attached to people. I currently volunteer in an old age home as a befriender through age concern, and even though I am not related I have still come to be very attached to the ladies I visit with, even though we only sit and chat or play cards for twenty minutes at a time usually. Hope you are able to find some peace in the loss of her.

chegirl · 31/03/2009 19:56

Hi Shabs,

I hope you are ok. These adverts are so difficult. A lot of my online friends have lost thier children in this way. The majority are all for the adverts but it doesnt make them any easier to watch . I get very cross sometimes when I see cancer charity adverts. I know it doesnt make sense because they are doing it to help kids like my Billie. Its complicated but I HATE it when they show pretty, healthy looking moppets looking 'a bit sad' and pushing a drip. Its not like that! Also those ones that go on about how curable childhood cancer is. They hurt. But what is the alternative? I wish I knew.

TW - sorry to hear about what happened at work. That must have been horrible for you.

Had another day at work. It was ok. I was going through the old files to get used to the work etc. I cant say what I saw because I would hate to comprimise confidentiality but it was to do with cancer and it leapt right out at me. It feels like it follows me around sometimes.

I hope you all have a nice evening and I hope you sleep better tonight Shabs.

x

shabster · 31/03/2009 20:44

I will be just fine - my friend had warned me about the adverts but it caught me unawares. Im knackered so sure I will sleep good tonight. xx

shabster · 31/03/2009 23:42

Good night girls - see you in the morning. xx

Morning all. I have been a bit awol recently as I've been mega busy. Needless to say, that I may not be on here much but I often think of us all.

Congratulations melissa, that is wonderful news. Children are a blessing and we know that more than most. Let us know how you are getting on by giving us regular updates on the pregnancy. Your news has made my morning!

shabster · 01/04/2009 08:31

morning girls ,hope you all ok,xxweather is dry at moment so making most of itx

travellingwilbury · 01/04/2009 19:51

Hello all

chegirl , you will do a great job but that doesn't mean it will be easy . Worthwhile things seldom are unfortunately . You know I think you are fab xxx

Lottie the only thing that ever helped my back pain was a large gin (probably not the best medical advice in the world but surely the most fun)

Has anyone heard from Everlong lately ? If so please let her know I am thinking of her xx
