DH is dying

I don't even know what topic to put this in. My DH had a brain haemorrhage yesterday morning, the doctors have said it's not survivable. He's 60 years old and my best friend as well as my husband, we've been married for 23 years. I was sat at the bedside in ICU yesterday thinking that I wasn't going to post on mumsnet, even though like a lot of us I spend quite a bit of time here and feel like part of the community, but at 3 o'clock in the morning when you're all alone it seems like a good idea.
I got sent home from the hospital 'to try to get some sleep'.

I'm so so sorry wheredo. I'm truly, dreadfully upset for you. I'm going through something similar but my husband gas been ill for two years. The thought of suddenly losing him is too much. I know Therese nothing we can do to take away your pain but please know that the strangers on here truly care for you at this time and please look after yourself too. Flowers

Calculators I am so sorry to hear your news. My beloved FIL suffered a devastating bleed after a road accident, he was air lifted to a major trauma centre.

Whoopsie has some very good advice.

Please be aware that sometimes people last longer than the doctors estimate.

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 14/02/2015 11:29

My heart bleeds for you my lovely

I have been through something similar with a parent when I was about your DDs age, my father was broken at the time, I won't tell you about how it gets easier because right now you don't want to even get to that point you want your DH back

Sit with him, talk, hold his hands, get some cream and give his hands a lovely massage, brush his hair, lie next to him as best you can or put your head by his, he is still here and always will be x

longestlurkerever · 14/02/2015 11:42

OP I hope you are ok. It's fine to be all over the place at a time like this. At least you know you gave him a loving partner and his love will stay with you forever. The next few weeks will be awful so try to rest when you can, eat if you can and look after yourself. I feel awful that I can't say anthing that will ever make you feel better. Hugs for you.
