A cousin of mine named their daughter Persephone, which had us all talking as it's so unusual.
What are the most unusual names you've ever heard of?

God we just adopted a little girl with a very unusual name that we are struggling to live with. But reading this makes me feel we were very lucky. It could have been so much worse.

My cousin is called Friday, she uses her middle name now though as she was teased mercilessly through school. I LOVE the name Tuesday though and would have used it for dd but it was vetoed by my dh.

SomethingInMyFrontPocketForYou · 01/03/2010 23:07

Clemenger.

His mother wanted to keep her maiden name going.

Clem for short though, so wasn't too bad.

I wanted Persephone for DS if he was a girl, but am now thinking its a bit too long..

cosysocks · 01/03/2010 23:13

darksideofthemooncup · 01/03/2010 23:15

And I have just remembered a girl called Hero that I was at college with, she had a cool surname and the two went together really well, and a friend's ds called Jet who is the most gorgeous child ever and it really suits him. I just wish I was more adventurous!

TheCrackFox · 01/03/2010 23:19

I know a girl called Blue and a boy called Carlito and I think they are pretty cool names TBH.

Hewlan- met the tot on a ski trip. His parents proudly told us they had made it up, and they had the most incredible Scouse accents too, we were hard pushed to keep a straight face. On this same trip there was also a Roisin, which my Dad could never pronounce, so the kid's table was quite interesting at tea time

sunchild77 · 02/03/2010 16:36

Ibroxia (for a girl)~ Apparently parents are big Glasgow Rangers fans ...

dizzydixies · 02/03/2010 16:46

EatingSwansHorror · 31/03/2010 11:21

jurisfictionoperative · 06/04/2010 04:37

Ds went to school with boys called Joop and Pele!
I was in the mat home with a lovely girl who really liked Kregan. Unfortunately she couldnt use this name for her son, her surname was Krugeler!
My Dad is called Lindsay. In his scots family, tradition is to call the son after the grandfather. His was called Archibald Lindsay, hence the lesser of the two evils! And I actually quite like it.

BeastofBodmin · 06/04/2010 05:02

Pia (as it should be spelt) but spelt Peeiyah

BeastofBodmin · 06/04/2010 05:05

But worst is is friends of friends who called their twins Rain and Bow

Then called subsequent children James and Sarah.

Maybe they saw the error in their ways.

sterrryerryoh · 25/04/2010 00:31

LaRagazzaInglese · 25/04/2010 03:09
