Baby girl names… peach?

I’m due in a few weeks with a baby girl and struggling to find a name. I’ve swapped it constantly throughout the months and just don’t like anything. I was recently set on Lena but have realised how common it actually is, which puts me off a little bit. I recently heard the name peach and absolutely love it but after reading a lot of forums people seem to think it’s silly? I know it doesn’t matter what other people think but I don’t know if it’s too out there?! Thoughts?

Well if other nature names are ok.....

In Miss Happiness and Miss Flower the baby is called Peach.

Abthdust · 13/08/2025 15:11

It's doesn't matter what people think ... but you're asking MN if it's too out there?

It's no worse than Apple.

Moveoverdarlin · 13/08/2025 15:12

Peach is silly IMO. It’s not a girls name. It’s a fruit. It Just reminds me of the peach emoji and the association with ‘bum’.

heroinechic · 13/08/2025 15:12

It sounds more like a nickname than a formal name! Cute for a baby but not so cute for a 50 year old woman applying for jobs x

MsPug · 13/08/2025 15:12

peaches is better but even that's bad

wizzywig · 13/08/2025 15:13

Like peaches geldof?

Abthdust · 13/08/2025 15:13

Also, one of Bob Geldof's daughter is called Peaches which is positively vanilla (!) compared to the other ones ...

Snorlaxo · 13/08/2025 15:14

Peach makes me think of the Mario character Princess Peach and nobody wants their dd to be helplessly waiting to be rescued by a man (Mario or his brother Luigi)
The peach emoji is used to mean bum which would put me off too.

RightOnTheEdge · 13/08/2025 15:15

It might not matter to you what other people think but you are not the one who will have to have the name for the rest of your life.
Don't do it to your daughter, its a silly name and will sound ridiculous on a grown woman.

Sparklingred · 13/08/2025 15:17

Peach is a nickname. If you have to, use it as a middle name and call her Peach, but give her a first name that can be used in professional settings.

Lena is lovely and I don’t think it’s that common. I’ve met lots of little girls called Olivia, Imogen and Lily, but no Lena yet.

‘What a peach’

MonkeyHarold · 13/08/2025 15:20

I think it's lovely.

Osmosisfreight · 13/08/2025 15:21

Tbh I’ve seen a lot of Peach(es) online lately along with Honey/Posies type of names (I do actually like Honey) which is getting very popular. IMO it doesn’t matter as when your potential Peach is older there will be lots of adults with those types of names, it won’t be “weird” any more

TomatoSandwiches · 13/08/2025 15:21

I quite like it actually, but I'd go with Peaches or Peachy instead of just Peach.

Really? When I think of the name Lena I see an older woman with harsh eyebrows and a smokers smile for some reason.

doglover90 · 13/08/2025 15:22

The peach emoji has strong sexual connotations - that alongside Princess Peach makes it ripe (if you'll excuse the pun) for teasing. Ultimately you're naming a human being, not a pet.

Yes for opinions :) always good to get a lot of different perspectives. I thought this is what mumsnet was for.

Sorry it’s not for me - sounds silly to me

LuckyNumberFive · 13/08/2025 15:26

Peach is a nickname or a term of endearment in my opinion. Can't imagine having to use the name Peach in a professional setting.

Berlinlover · 13/08/2025 15:27

It’s an absolutely ridiculous name for a child.

familylawyer01392 · 13/08/2025 15:27

I think Peach is really cute! Go for it!

Don’t forget in 20 years time professional settings will all be staffed by Jayden,Kayden, Okaydens etc, Peach and the like will be the norm

SardinesOnGingerbread · 13/08/2025 15:29

It's not a name I can imagine in professional circles, but who knows. Times change.

My thoughts exactly, I personally think the Jayden/kayden names sound chavvy but that’s just my opinion

I don't think you can be snobby about names like Jayden (variant of the Hebrew Jadon) when you are wondering whether to call your daughter a fruit. Or is it just because you don't consider Peach to be a working class name?
