Baby girl names… peach?

I’m due in a few weeks with a baby girl and struggling to find a name. I’ve swapped it constantly throughout the months and just don’t like anything. I was recently set on Lena but have realised how common it actually is, which puts me off a little bit. I recently heard the name peach and absolutely love it but after reading a lot of forums people seem to think it’s silly? I know it doesn’t matter what other people think but I don’t know if it’s too out there?! Thoughts?

I think it’s cute, although peaches geldolf is a sad story and so is the character peach in the show ‘you’

Seriously, “Peach” and “Peaches” had sexual associations long before texting was a thing.

I give up. Can’t add the link, Google “The Stranglers, Peaches”.

@PollyD123 it's not the most unusual name I've heard, not one I'd pick but there are lots of different names out there these days so after a while people would probably get used to it. However, as others have pointed out people may skip to the association with Peaches Geldof who had a very troubled life - you've noted associations with specific names so you know this is a possibility. The fact people didn't personally know her won't matter.

In a perfect world kids wouldn't bully and be mean, but unfortunately it is human nature and impossible to totally eradicate - the name Peach may give cause for teasing, as whether you agree or not, there is a connotation with bums. That's not an opinion, fairly factual with evidence on this thread! I think this is where people are saying "poor child" - no one is saying it's neglect as you've taken it to mean, people use the term when something related to a child could have been avoided - for example given a bowl cut! People would probably say "poor child". Take it in the vein it's meant, it's a common phrase and isn't used in the way you're taking it.

For what it's worth, and you haven't asked, but I've read the whole thread and I don't see any viciousness, only opinions with reasoning behind them. Whether you agree or not, people will judge and most likely offer their opinion to you, I'd work on not taking it personally/ too much to heart. You'll need to with a name like Peach.

You don't seem to agree but I've read your responses to be just as strong as the ones you've taken offence to, so although you think people aren't managing their words, perhaps consider you're doing the same.

Best of luck with the pregnancy and whatever name you decide. I like the idea of you trying it out yourself for a little bit to see how you find it

I love Peach! I also like: Honey, Blossom, Sage, Apricot, Cherry, Olive, Pomme, Pomona, Papaya, Lychee, Clementine, Lemon, Juniper, Junia, Sakura, Avalon

ThelastRolo20 · 16/08/2025 03:28

Also, for what it's worth I think people being judged when going for interviews etc is not as prevalent as before. We're a multi cultural country - I head up recruitment for a company and I care about skills and aptitude, not a name. I couldn't give a toss if our prime minister was called Peach if she'd sort out the economy! So I don't buy into that from other posters to be honest :)

I’m hoping she doesn’t surround herself/come in that much contact with the type people who would judge her based off her name.

But you’re judging the Jayden kayden name trend, you’ve already said it reminds you of kids on drugs. So you’ve said it yourself really…

Awww I think it sounds cute but maybe as a second name? My friend was called Chloe Pebbles and she was called Pebbles as a young child but asked to be called Chloe once she got to ten, so it was nice she had that option. I guess you have some cool Spanish names you could pick too?

OneNeatBlueOrca · 18/08/2025 20:14

Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof is one example of a similar name but she died of a heroin overdose at 25. So not a good association.

Peach or 🍑 is the emoji used to symbolise an arse so not a good association either.

I really wouldn't

stample · 18/08/2025 22:27

Friends dd is peach as a nn. Actual name is Kalliopea

Anonycat · 18/08/2025 22:29

Just no. It’s awful imo.
